Barcelona has tons of great skate spots. Tucked away in neighbourhoods, backstreets and the city’s little parks there are many spots waiting to be discovered.

MACBA is one of the most famous and legendary spots in the city. Its smooth marble surfaces and iconic architecture make it a magnet for skating aficionados.

MACBA

MACBA is one of the most popular skating spots in Barcelona. It is also a place where people meet and hang out. It is the spot that everyone skates or at least passes by while they are skating other spots around the city. Some people might argue that it’s blown out but, to me, that just adds to the charm.

Designed by North American architect Richard Meier, MACBA opened in November 1995 as part of the revitalization of the Raval district. It has a reputation internationally as an important supporter of modern art, with its impressive collections of contemporary works of different artistic styles.

The plaza in front of MACBA is home to a big, long smooth granite ledge that is calling your name. This is just one of many ledges, stairs and rails that make this spot a must-visit for anyone who loves skating. Although officially MACBA is only open on Tuesdays and Sundays, it doesn’t seem like the police ever hassle people who are skateboarding there (at least not for this activity). During the evening it is also very shady in that area so it’s easy to escape the heat and hang out.

Port Vell

Port Vell, also known as the Old Port, is a seaside area that is home to a variety of new attractions. Former warehouses now house seafood restaurants, while the peninsula is home to an aquarium and a museum. The site was redeveloped as part of the 1992 Olympic Games and has become a major tourist attraction.

Visitors can enjoy strolling along the boardwalk that hugs the harbor and admire the sailboats and yachts moored here. There are many restaurants, bars and terraces that offer a wide range of options for spending the afternoon or evening.

Located just a short walk from Barceloneta Metro Station, the 4-star H10 Port Vell offers guests modern rooms and premium services. The hotel’s elegant rooms feature a minimalist style where white tones predominate. They are equipped with a flat-screen TV and minibar. They also include a terrace with a plunge pool and stunning views. The hotel’s Hollywood Restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, while room service is available. The hotel has a 24-hour reception and can help guests book tours and tickets.

Placa dels Angels

The new complex, touted as an agora, will host outdoor performances, film screenings and ephemeral exhibitions. It will also feature a snake run, a volcano and three bowls that are suitable for all skill levels. The park is situated right off the Mar Bella beach in Barcelona’s popular barceloneta district.

Throughout the design process, Richard Meier employed structural interventions that invoke connections between the museum, its visitors and the surrounding context. For example, a massive white overhanging wall along the southern facade serves as a gateway into the museum and a public display surface. This architectural gesture takes inspiration from the preponderance of balconies in old stone buildings and draws attention to the MACBA’s presence in its neighborhood.

The MACBA also features a large viewing terrace incorporating lounge areas and new flow patterns that encourage social interaction. The design also includes a series of green spaces and a new plaza that serve to integrate the MACBA into the wider context of the Raval neighborhood. El Maresme

With its superb beaches, a wide range of activities, a wealth of tiny villages and expanses of natural parks, El Maresme is a very popular destination. It also has a rich cultural programme throughout the year and is home to many festivals and fairs, especially during the summer months.

The region's cuisine is particularly varied, from the traditional fish to tapas and Mediterranean fresh-produce cuisine. It is also famous for its wide range of officially recognised local products (denominacion de origen), including wine from Alella, peas from Llavaneres, potatoes from Mataro and strawberries from Sant Cebria de Vallalta.

Its enviable coastal location, just north of effortlessly cosmopolitan Barcelona and its smooth connections by road and rail make it an ideal place to visit. Its rocky coves and sandy beaches, including a nudist area behind the train tunnel, offer something for everyone. Museums, traditions, crafts fairs and a host of quality dining options add to its appeal.
