How to test one power supply alone to check if it’s good or bad?

We met one question that many customer ask about how to test one power supply to check if it’s good or bad when they met the situation the computer don’t start up? Because they don’t know it’s motherboard problem or psu.

Here is the one solution of our tech. manager to show how to to check if the psu is good or bad.

1. Disconnect all output interfaces and only connect the power cord. Then find a conductive wire or a pinch.

2. Short-circuit the green and any black wires.

3. Observe whether the power light on the power supply cord lights up and whether the power fan rotates to determine whether the power supply is faulty.
