Fishing with a spear in the Maldives
The Maldives prohibits spearfishing because the waterways are protected by the government. Interestingly, the first scuba divers to visit the Maldives were from Italy, and their primary purpose for visiting was hunting. They went to these highly inhabited seas with spearguns and started hunting the bigger marine creatures, including sharks, stingrays, and huge pelagic species.
