IND vs PAK: Avesh Khan is likely to be excluded from the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan. The Super 4 stage matchup is scheduled to take place on September 4 at the the Dubai International Stadium.
The Asia Cup 2022 group stage saw back-to-back victories for India. The Men in Blue qualified for the multi-nation tournament’s Super 4 round thanks to their outstanding performances.
Team India started the competition off in impressive fashion by defeating Pakistan by a margin of five wickets. In the second game versus Hong Kong, India won by 40 runs in a closely contested encounter.
Pakistan, on the other hand, in a dominant display, trounced Hong Kong by 155 runs on Friday. For the first time ever, the two teams squared off in a T20I contest. The Men in Green’s victory guaranteed them a spot in the Asia Cup’s Super 4 round.
IND vs PAK: Avesh Khan Is Anticipated to Miss the India vs Pakistan Match Due to Viral Fever
Young pacer Avesh Khan has a viral fever, per Dainik Bhaskar’s article. In addition, he hasn’t left the hotel room in two days. The Men in Blue will already be without Ravindra Jadeja due to knee surgery, so this is a serious setback.
The pacer doesn’t seem to be in playing shape, as per information given by a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official to Dainik Bhaskar. Needless to say, the medical staff is assisting him at the moment.
The same report also claims that if Avesh is not entirely fit to play, right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar could be called up to the main team. As one of the players on standby, Chahar is eager to participate in the competition.
Further discussing Avesh, the young speedster did not perform well with the ball during the Asia Cup. He bowled two overs in the game against Pakistan. In the interim, he gave way 19 runs while taking Fakhar Zaman’s wicket.
The pacer was highly costly in India’s second game against Hong Kong. In his 4-over quota, he astonishingly handed up 53 runs. For a bowler of his talent and caliber, these numbers are plainly unacceptable. However, he will be eager to get in shape quickly and play well to secure his place in the T20 World Cup.
Avesh has taken 13 wickets in 15 T20I matches for the Indian National Cricket Team. Returning to the Asia Cup, the competition is currently in its final phase. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will battle it out for a spot in the finals. It will be interesting to observe how the teams fare in the Super 4 stage against one another.
