The Amarnath Cave is a Hindu shrine located in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888 m, about 141 km from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir and reached through Pahalgam town. The shrine forms an important part of Hinduism, and is considered to be one of the holiest sites in Hinduism. It is dedicated to the god Shiva.

The cave is believed to be the place where Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to his wife Parvati. Inside the cave is a natural shivalingam, formed of ice. The main pilgrimage season to the shrine is between July and August, coinciding with the Hindu festival of Shravani Mela.

The Amarnath Cave Temple was discovered by a Muslim shepherd, Buta Malik, in the 15th century. However, the pilgrimage to the cave was only started in the early 19th century by Hindu pilgrims.
