Sixty and Slayin': Age is Just a Number (Especially When You Can't Remember It Anyway)

Let's face it, hitting 60 is a doozy. One minute you're chasing toddlers, the next you're chasing discounts at the pharmacy (who knew Preparation H came in such a delightful shade of mauve?).  But here's the thing: while the calendar might say "senior citizen," the mirror can tell a totally different story.

Forget the fashion police – who even has time for those outdated fashion rules anymore?  If you want to rock a miniskirt at 60, girlfriend, you go right ahead.  Personally, I prefer a little more leg coverage these days (hello, varicose veins!), but that doesn't mean I can't look fabulous.

Style with a Side of Comfort (Because Adulting is Hard Enough)

Recently, I raided the HMSimi collection my favorite store, and holy smokes did I find some gems.  We're talking clothes that are both stylish and, more importantly, comfortable enough to chase after my runaway grocery cart in the parking lot (because, let's be honest, that's basically cardio at our age).

My latest score?  A killer shirt dress that goes from brunch with the girls (complete with sneakers and a fanny pack, because #handsfree) to a night out with a simple switch to heels.  And guess what? The whole outfit cost less than a hundred bucks!  Winning! (Though, side note, adulting is expensive. Where'd all my money go?)

Yoga for the Not-So-Stiff (Because Seriously, Who Can Touch Their Toes Anyway?)

Speaking of feeling good, let's talk about fitness.  Because looking good starts with feeling good, right?  One of the best things I've done for myself lately is take up yoga.  Yes, yoga.  Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure I look more like a pretzel dipped in molasses than a downward-facing dog, but hey, it keeps me limber!  Plus, there's something undeniably sassy about rocking a matching yoga ensemble (think comfy pants, a supportive sports bra, and my trusty mat that's seen better days) and strutting into class.

And let me tell you, yoga has transformed my body.  Okay, maybe not transformed, but it's definitely helped! I feel stronger, more toned, and even my posture has improved (no more hunching over to search for my reading glasses on the couch).  The best part? My yoga class is like the United Nations of age groups.  We've got young whippersnappers just starting out, and folks who could probably tell you what Woodstock was really like.  So yeah, age ain't nothin' but a number when it comes to taking care of yourself and feeling your best.

The Takeaway: Embrace the Awesome

So, here's to turning 60 and rocking it like a boss!  Don't be afraid to experiment with fashion, hit the gym (or the yoga mat, even if you look like a tangled human pretzel), or just do some jumping jacks in your living room.  The most important thing is to find activities that make you feel confident and fabulous.  Because let's face it, confidence is the only accessory you really need (besides maybe a good pair of reading glasses, because seriously, where did those things go?).
