The Production Process Of Corduroy Fabric
Once a textile manufacturer has acquired one or more types of yarn, the production of corduroy fabrics follows a common set of steps:
1. Weaving
Most types of corduroy fabric have a plain weave, consisting of weft threads that alternate above and below the warp. Corduroy can also be made using a twill weave, but this method is less common. After the primary weaving is complete, textile manufacturers add "pile threads," which are cut into corduroy's characteristic ridges.
2. Gluing
Apply glue to the back of the woven fabric to make sure the pile yarn doesn't pull through during the cutting process. Textile manufacturers remove this glue late in production.
3. Cutting of pile yarn
The textile manufacturer then uses an industrial cutter to cut the pile yarn. This yarn is then brushed and singed to create soft, even ridges.
4. Dyeing
