If you are an engineer or geoscientist who wants to attain a professional engineering licence, then you should use the APEGS CBA pathway for work experience reporting. If still confused about how this system can help you, read this blog.
Why your work experience assessment is necessary:
Before you become eligible to apply for your professional licence, you are required to have your four years of engineering or geoscience work experience assessed by the Experience Review Committee.
Eligibility criteria:
To prove your eligibility, you need to be registered as an engineering-in-training or geoscientist-in-training, or a member-in-training applicant who has been given the work experience reporting option to try and have confirmatory exams waived.
How Competency-Based Assessment can help you:
APEGS utilizes an online competency-based assessment (CBA) system for the assessment of your work experience. Aside from giving validated examples to show each of the competencies, you are required to have a minimum of four years of experience validated in the APEGS CBA system.
Necessary information on the APEGS Competency-Based Assessment process for an applicant, validator and assessor can be found in the Competency Assessment Guide. You must read this guide before you begin your assessment.
How to report in the CBA system:
Reach https:/competencyassessment.ca.
Choose the ‘Applicants’ section.
Strictly follow the instructions appearing on the screen.
Make an account by using your APEGS Registration/Application number as your User ID.
Pick ‘Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan’ as your jurisdiction.
The authority will send you an email notification when your account is approved. It might take up to 5 business days. These accounts are approved manually M-F 8:00 to 5:00.
Get to the system by choosing ‘I am a registered user and would like to access the Competency Assessment System’.
Enter your information adhering to the instructions on the screen. At this time, your educational information doesn’t show in the APEGS Competency Assessment(CBA) system.
If having any problems with the system, you must contact APEGS.
After the assessment of your experience, you will get the result by email. If you don’t pass the first time, you will get an opportunity to redo any competencies that didn’t fulfill the requirements.
You should get your assessment result within 6 to 8 weeks after the completion of all validations. If your validators are unacceptable, APEGS will notify you and the validation process will have to be done again.
