Excellent FAQ, answers a lot of my initial doubts.
Gosh, this looks so complicated. On the one hand, kudos for maintaining the original game intact so there won't be a riot over fluctuations people don't like. But on pso2 sales the flip side, since they're remaking base PSO2 visuals anyhow, I wish they'd just go 100% and synchronize character models entirely. Giving old players some free style items and unlocks will be sufficient to bribe everyone to accept the new system.
Synchronizing 100% personality models doesn't sound simple. The problem is that the older outfits and layer use are modeled to fit the older pso2 body. To be able to synchronize it, they would have to recreate from scratch (haha pun) 8 decades of makeup. That's unlikely to occur. I mean that I would be willing to shed a certain percentage of these cosmetics to keep things intact around variations. As long as there's a steady feed of cool new things to replace it, I do not mind. I constantly rotate out my older appearances anyhow. As long as the character versions translate 1:1 it'll still feel just like mine.
I would envision a large complication to that entails a great deal of the cosmetics from the Japanese side of things that were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events that no longer exist. The instance I can think of is the Dragon Hunter Frontier Z collaboration where I could envision the clothing and weapons could unquestionably be provided a visual update together with everything else but I don't exactly know how the licensing or the way the lawful side of the collaboration functions where I would wish it had been as simple as Sega going through and updating the assets but I do not understand about just how much of Capcom is involved in this procedure.
The same is applicable to collaborations such as the Final Fantasy XIV cooperation with Odin (which exists as far as I know) where I don't know just how much Square Enix is involved in that for Sega to be able to upgrade assets there. When it was purely just Phantasy Star-related things (such as character outfits, cameos from other games, or alternative Sega-related possessions ) I could imagine this probably would have been achieved, or would be carried out. But from buy meseta pso2 the Global variant we don't have the existence of Cougar NX therefore I do not exactly know if there are additional complications seeing Sega's properties which may also contribute not to updating everything they could within reason.
