Why Maharashtra is closed on 24 August?

Uddhav Thackeray urged people to observe the Maharashtra bandh organized by the MVA to protest against the sexual assault of two minors in Badlapur on August 24. The bandh will last till 2 pm, emergency services will remain operational. Schools and transport services will operate normally, but banks will remain closed.
