I can't recall ever defeating one of Elden Ring's gigantic bears during the 90-hours (and counting) with the game. The sorcery-wielding, red-furred wolves that roam in the Lands Between continue to Elden Ring Runes be my biggest nightmare. I break out into sweating each time I hear the tell-tale chirps of an unseen attack bird flapping its wings within a tree, or the castle's rampart. However, when I had to face a second boss like Astel much further into my adventure, I walked into battle with confidence and took it down on one try.

Naturally, what's hard for me might not be difficult for other people. I'm pretty certain I've got some mental blockage which immediately sets me on the defensive when fighting the more real animals of Elden Ring, which was triggered by earlier encounters with frustration.

Whatever the situation it is, I can't get my head around these creatures. Birds can, at the very minimum, be caught by spamming attacks and I'm able to take down the magic wolves repeatedly when I'm lucky or not, but each time I see the gold poop that suggests one of the larger bears is in close proximity and I try to get it away the earliest time. Don't think about becoming an Elden Lord or defeating super-bosses like Malenia without support, finally facing a bear is likely to be my biggest Elden Ring challenge.
