Just after the Elden Ring release last month, players found that the most recent FromSoftware game has more than just surface-level similarities with Elden Ring Runes their Souls predecessors. A notorious Dark Souls bug can still be found deep into the bowels of Elden Ring's code, and it could also provide the possibility of exciting new possibilities for speedrunning enthusiasts.
The first instance I could find of this bug, also known by the "deathcam" glitch that was discovered within Elden Ring comes from a video posted on the day of the game's release on February 25. A speedrunner named Ginz realized that falling off a certain cliff makes the game believe that you've fallen to your death without actually needing to touch the "kill plane," an inaccessible part of terrain that, well, will kill you.
This sets Elden Ring's camera into deathcam mode, towards the person so that they can better record their fall into the pit, hole or cliff is believed to be dangerous. As you can see in the video above, Ginz remains able to walk about and could have even gotten back to the ground thanks to Elden Ring Runes buy the double jump of Torrent's spectral horse even if they had not fallen again.
