Shaoxing has a history of more than 2,500 years, and is known as "Jianhu Yuetai Famous Town". The Jianhu Lake mentioned here is Shaoxing's "Mother Lake", which was first formed in the ancient Yuedi lake group between mountains and seas. Inheriting Dayu's pioneering and creative spirit of water control, Ma Zhen put forward the idea of building Jianhu Lake in Han Dynasty, and built one of the oldest and largest water conservancy projects in Jiangnan area of China at that time. At its peak, it covered an area of 610 square kilometers.
