BRUSSELS AIRLINES MAKES TRAVELLING EASIER WITH DOCUMENT CHECK AT HOME AND INTERACTIVE TRAVEL MAP

The existing document checks conducted at the various airports are extremely complicated for both passengers and airline workers. To further inform its customers and give them the option of doing so at home rather than the airport, the airline has launched two unique initiatives. After a successful test phase on flights to/from Spain since August 11, Brussels Airlines will, as of August 18, permit its customers travelling to France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece to have their required health documents examined remotely. The airline hopes to reduce the wait times at the airport check-in lines with this new service and make travelling simpler and more accessible. Through notice emails sent 6, 3, and 1 days prior to departure, guests who qualify for the document check at home will be given the opportunity to upload their supporting documentation.
A Lufthansa Group service centre receives an encrypted email containing the uploaded documents after which they are reviewed. The traveller can check in online after receiving a confirmation email that their documents have been authorised. The service centre will notify the traveller and request that they upload the missing documents if there are any missing documents or if the uploaded documents do not follow the rules. The traveller won't be able to use the online check-in in that situation.
Depending on the capacity of the service centre, additional destinations can be added in the future.
Brussels Airlines has developed an interactive map with Sherpa that allows users to access all pertinent information and a list of the documents they must bring with them while travelling. The interactive map's purpose is to provide clients with a clear picture of their travel options within and outside of Europe and to act as a source of motivation for them to rediscover their freedom to travel. Passengers can check a box to show that they have been immunised and view the country-specific restrictions.
Various government websites and informational resources serve as the map's information sources. For the necessary paperwork and further information, the map connects users to the relevant government website of their location.
