What is the Primary Hoisting Mechanism in a Tower Crane?

The primary hoisting mechanism in a tower crane is the wire rope hoist.

How it Works:

A powerful electric motor drives a drum that rotates.

A steel wire rope is wound or unwound around this drum.

The rope is attached to the hook at the end of the crane's boom.

When the motor turns the drum clockwise, the rope winds up, lifting the hook and any attached load.

When the motor reverses, the rope unwinds, lowering the load.

Key Components:

Electric Motor: Provides the power to rotate the drum.

Drum: The central component around which the wire rope winds.

Wire Rope: The strong, flexible cable that connects the drum to the hook.

Hook: The attachment point for the load.
