A photodetector, also known as an O/E converter, is a crucial component of the front end of an optical receiver that transforms the incoming optical information into an electrical signal. Due to their small size, quick detection speed, and high detection efficiency, semiconductor photodetectors, also known as photodiodes, are the most popular types of photodetectors used in optical communication systems.

Principle of Operation of the Photodetector Module
Three components make up the entire photodetector module circuit group: the coupling optical path, the high-speed InGaAs optical chip, and the drive circuit. Impedance matching and voltage stabilizing protection circuits are always present in the driving circuit.
The optical fiber channel injects the optical signal into the optical chip via the coupling optical link;
The high-speed optical chip completes the signal demodulation of the modulated optical signal;
The high-speed optical chip is used to match the output high impedance of the optical chip to 50-ohm impedance;
The voltage stabilizing protection circuit(Some models do not have this circuit) completes the filtering of the peripheral power supply and outputs it to the optical chip.
