The less durable classes (except for wizard) need quick interactions in order to run away or keep distance. This includes the rogue and ranger.
I do think they did it too much.. However, that doesn't mean that it's not the only method of interaction, for an example barbarians who have a very low resourcefulness stat to interact with items can avail the 'Smash" perk that shatters all insecure doors or chests with an axe with two hands.
Wizards, in extreme instances, can make use of fireballs to blast open doors for an escape too cheap Dark And Darker Gold.
