AAV residual host-cell DNA testing To ensure the quality and the purity of clinical grade rAAV batches, the Food and Drug Administration and the European Pharmacopoeia published a series of compulsory quality control assays. The presence of residual DNA in the final product is an important problem. These fragments may be derived from the host cell genome, the plasmid DNA, or helper virus sequences used for production.

Adenovirus Production Process Viral vectors are currently the most effective tools for in vivo gene transfer. Human adenovirus vectors (HAdV) derived from serotype 5 are the most characterized viruses among those of the same family. HAdV has been considered a good candidate for human gene therapy because of a number of advantages including its wide cell tropism in quiescent and non-quiescent cells, its inability to integrate the host genome and its high production titer.
