Everyone Around Me Was Going Into Engineering — Pathway Helped Me Choose What Was Right for Me

In the beginning, I didn’t question it.
Engineering just seemed like what everyone was supposed to do.
My classmates were preparing for JEE, my relatives kept asking which coaching I’d joined, and even my teachers hinted that science was “the smart stream.”

So, I signed up for physics, chemistry, math — like I was supposed to.
I didn’t ask myself whether I wanted it.
Honestly, I didn’t think I had a choice.

I Tried to Fit In

I went to class, joined a local coaching center, and did what I could.
But something felt off. I’d sit with my books, stare at equations, and wonder why none of it excited me. My friends were all talking about cutoffs and mock tests — and I was struggling to stay interested.

I started doubting myself. Was I just not working hard enough?
Or worse — was I not smart enough?

But deep down, it wasn’t about effort or intelligence. It was about direction.
I was walking a path that didn’t feel mine.

When I Finally Spoke Up, I Was Told to “Adjust”

I remember telling my parents I wasn’t sure about engineering.
My father looked surprised. My mother said, “You’re just scared. It’ll get better.”
Some relatives even told me not to “waste” my science background.

It wasn’t that they didn’t care. They just didn’t understand that I wasn’t afraid of engineering — I was simply not interested in it.

I felt like I was disappointing everyone, and that made me feel even more lost.

Finding Pathway Was a Turning Point

One evening, while scrolling through Instagram, I saw a post about Pathway Education Consultancy. It mentioned something about “career clarity.” I clicked on it out of curiosity, not expecting much.

But something about it felt genuine. So I booked a session.

In that first conversation, they didn’t talk at me — they listened.
They didn’t start with marks or rankings.
They asked me things like:

  • “What are you good at when no one’s grading you?”

  • “What kind of problems do you enjoy solving?”

  • “Have you ever considered careers beyond what your friends are doing?”

For the first time, someone wasn’t trying to push me into a box. They were helping me find what actually fit.

Exploring What Was Meant for Me

Through counseling sessions, aptitude assessments, and real discussions, we explored multiple career options — from psychology to design, communications to liberal arts. Things I had never seriously considered.

They helped me see the connection between my interests and real career paths.
They didn’t judge my confusion — they worked through it with me.

And slowly, the fog started to clear.

Telling My Parents Again — This Time With Confidence

The second time I spoke to my parents, I was ready.

I had college options, course plans, and long-term career possibilities. I even asked if they’d be willing to speak with the counselor themselves — and they did.

It wasn’t easy, but it helped them see that this wasn’t a random decision. It was thoughtful. Backed by real support.

Eventually, they said something I’ll never forget:
“If you’re sure this is right for you, we’ll support you.”

Where I Am Today

I’m now pursuing a degree in communication and media studies — something I genuinely enjoy. I’ve worked on college events, contributed to campus publications, and even landed a summer internship in digital content strategy.

I feel like I’m building something mine. Not just chasing what others said was “safe.”

And it all started because someone asked me, What do you want?

That someone was Pathway Education Consultancy.

If You’re Feeling Pressured to Follow the Crowd…

Just remember: Doing what everyone else is doing doesn’t guarantee success.
It only guarantees that you’ll lose your voice in the noise.

Take a step back. Ask yourself what you want. And if you don’t know yet — that’s okay. Get help. The right kind of help.

Pathway helped me find clarity, confidence, and courage.

And that made all the difference.
