How Do I Fix Error H202 in QuickBooks?

To fix the error, Intuit suggests using the QuickBooks Database Server Manager. But if you've already done that and you're still getting H202 error, try the following:

Solution 1: Set up your firewall so that QuickBooks Desktop can work.

Make sure that the firewall settings on the server computer aren't stopping QuickBooks from working. Read the post "Configure Firewall and Internet Security Settings for QuickBooks Desktop" for detailed instructions on how to make an exception for QuickBooks ports on the firewall.

Try opening QuickBooks on your workstation in multi-user mode after you've set the firewall permissions. Check out the next solution if the problem keeps coming back.

Solution 2: Make sure the QuickBooks services are up and running.

Make sure the QuickBooks services are running on the computer that serves as the server. Follow the steps below to make sure that the QuickbooksDBXX services are running, and then do the same for the QBCFMonitorService.

  • Type Run a search in the Windows search box.

  • Type services.msc into the Run window, then press Enter.

  • Browse the list in the Services window, then select QuickBooksDBXX by double-clicking.

  • It opens the QuickBooksDBXX Properties window. As the Startup Type, choose Automatic.

  • Either Running or Started must be selected as the Service status. Otherwise, click Start.

  • Select the Recovery tab next.

  • Select Restart the Service from the First failure, Second failure, and Subsequent failures drop-down menus.

  • To save the changes, click Apply and then OK.

Do the same thing for the QBCFMonitorService. Once you've done all of the steps, open QuickBooks on each workstation. Select Switch to Multi-user Mode from the File menu. If you can open everything correctly, the problem is solved.
