Manufacturers can select specifications according to the available installation space rather than being restricted to one standard format.
Touch functionality can further expand an LCD screen's usefulness. When combined with a touchscreen layer, the display becomes both an information output device and an interactive interface. Energy Efficiency and Reliability

This practical side of LCD technology is something I consider particularly valuable. A good display should not simply look impressive when it is new. It should continue doing its job after months or years of regular operation.
Selecting an LCD Screen for a Specific Product
Choosing an LCD screen requires more than comparing screen sizes. Resolution, brightness, contrast, viewing angle, interface type, operating temperature, response time, power consumption, and physical dimensions should all be considered.
The intended environment is especially important. An LCD screen for an office monitor has very different requirements from one installed in a factory, vehicle, or outdoor terminal. For example, sunlight readability may become a priority outdoors, while resistance to vibration and temperature variation may matter more in industrial applications.
Interface compatibility should also be checked before purchasing. The screen must communicate correctly with the host system, and its electrical specifications need to match the product's hardware. Mechanical dimensions are equally important because even a technically suitable display can become difficult to install if the mounting structure does not match.
