1) Hang the item on the hanger

2) Fill the portable handheld garment steamer with distilled or tap water. If your steamer allows it, make sure not to fill it up. You need enough space for steam and heat to circulate properly within the unit

Turn on your steamer and wait for it to heat up completely (heating time will vary depending on your steamer model)

3) Hold the tip of the device a few inches away from your clothing and move it slowly to prevent drips from getting your clothing wet. Make sure you're not too close or too far away, but keep an appropriate distance for whatever type of fabric you're working on. Your steamer instructions will most likely guide you.

4) The heat from the steam will be very strong, so make sure to hold the steamer firmly and keep it steady when moving

5) Gently brush for a few seconds to make sure your clothes have enough time to come into contact with the steam. But never brush back and forth, as this will only aggravate wrinkles. If necessary, turn over the clothes you are steaming and repeat the process on any other areas that need to be treated, if you wish, hang the clothes immediately to reduce wrinkles

6) After using the garment steamer, unplug it from the socket and allow it to cool before cleaning and storing. Unplugging a hot device will prevent an electrical accident if you make contact with the device while it is still plugged in and hot

7) Clean out the tank and pump so they don't clog over time. Unplug the steamer before cleaning

8) After cooling, wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth and mild soap (if there are hard water deposits, use an anti-scale solution). For stubborn stains, use vinegar or lemon juice diluted with water to loosen deposits

9) Allow the device to dry completely before plugging it back in.
