Rubber Raw Material
1. SILICONE
1) Advantage: Excellent Heat and low temperature properties. Low compression set and good resilience. Moderate solvent resistance. Good release Characteristics. Silicone performs well in engine & transmission oils, mineral oils, ozone, and dry heat.
2) Limitation: Poor dynamic use due to high friction characteristic, low abrasion resistance, poor tear & tensile strength. Very gas permeable. Silicone performs poorly in petroleum oils and fuels, Ketones, steam and concentrated acids
2. POLYURETHANE
1) Advantage: High abrasion resistance. Good for moderate chemicals, fats, oils and grease. Poor resistance to concentrated acids, certain hydrocarbons, ketones and esters.
2) Limitation: Susceptible to hydrolysis in hot and damp conditions; poor resistance to polar organic solvents
3. VITON
1) Advantage: Good high temperature properties. Resistant to most hydrocarbons, acids and vegetable and animal oils.
2) Limitation: Poor for nitro containing compounds, low molecular esters and ketones.
4. NITRILE;
1) Advantage: Resistant to attack from petroleum based solvents and mineral oils. Fair heat and aging resistance.
2) Limitation锛歅oor cold resistance, not recommended for weather resistance.
5. CARBOXYLATED NITRILE
1) Advantage: Similar to nitrile but provides a higher abrasion resistance due to tougher vulcanizates.
2) Limitation: Poor cold resistance, not recommended for weather resistance.
6. E.P.D.M.
1) Advantage: Excellent resistance to Ozone and weather. Low temperature threshold. High tensile strength.
2) Limitation: Also resistant to non-flammable hydraulic fluids. Non-resistant to mineral oils.
7. NEOPRENE
1) Advantage: Good resistance to heat and flame, aging and weather. Moderate in resistance to oil and chemicals. Long flex life.
2) Limitation: Poor resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons.
8. NATURAL RUBBER
1) Advantage: Good low temperature properties and long flex life. High resilience, tensile strength and elongation. Wide hardness range.
2) Limitation: Poor resistance to heat, ozone, weather and oil.
9. HYPALON
1) Advantage: Improved acid and ozone resistance over neoprene. High colour retention means it is good for certain bleaching agents.
2) Limitation: Poor resistance to esters and ketones, concentrated oxidising agents, chlorinated, aromatic and nitro hydrocarbons.
