Although ER alpha positive breast cancer could be effectively controlled by endocrine therapy, more than half of the cases could develop endocrine resistance, making it an important clinical issue in breast cancer treatment. Thus, decoding the detailed mechanism, which controls ER alpha signaling activation and ER alpha protein stability, is of great importance for the improvement of breast cancer therapy. Several zinc finger proteins were shown to mediate the ubiquitination process and modulate protein stability. Considering the role of the microenvironment in influencing tumor initiation and promotion, the immune tumor niche of KRAS mutant tumors has been deeply explored and characterized for its unique immunosuppressive skewing. However, a number of aspects remains to be fully understood, and modulating this tumor niche might revert the immunoresistance of KRAS mutant tumors. Synergistic associations of KRASG12C and immune checkpoint inhibitors are being tested.
    Lung cancer screening using low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) often leads to unnecessary biopsy because of the low specificity among patients with pulmonary nodules ≤10 mm. Circulating genetically abnormal cells (CACs) can be used to discriminate lung cancer from benign lung disease. To examine the diagnostic value of CACs in detecting lung cancer for patients with malignant pulmonary nodules ≤10 mm.

    In this prospective study, patients with pulmonary nodules ≤10 mm who were detected at four hospitals in China from January 2019 to January 2020 were included. CACs were detected using fluorescence
    hybridization. All patients were confirmed as lung cancer or benign disease by further histopathological examination. Multivariable logistic regression models were established to detect the presence of lung cancer using CACs and other associated characteristics. Receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to evaluate the performance of CACs for lung cancer diagnosis.

The children were divided into 3 groups. Group 1 - 10 children with healthy periodontium and without somatic diseases. 2nd group - 20 somatically healthy children with chronic catarrhal gingivitis. The third group (20 children) of children with gastroduodenitis and chronic catarrhal gingivitis. The determination of the mRNA expression of the IkBα geneand the level of IL-10 and IL-1β in the oral fluid was carried out by real-time PCR.

    Results We determined that the level of pro-inflammatory IL-1β in the oral fluid of primary school children had different levels in accordance with the state of dental and somatic health. It was the lowest in somatically healthy children wry response associated with chronic catarrhal gingivitis and with chronic gastroduodenitis.
    The aim To obtain the first estimates data on the occurrence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in a wide range of fresh vegetables available in the Kyiv city markets.

    Materials and methods We performed a multicenter study. Fresh vegetables samples were collected of the six different commodity groups from eleven of retail stores locatedin Kyiv, Ukraine. Samples were tested for up to eight bacteria of concern. The susceptibility to antibiotics was determined by disk diffusion method according to the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing.

    Results The antibiotic-resistant bacteria contamination in the fresh vegetables was 24.3%. The contamination among organic produce was significantly higher than in conventionally products. Contamination was found to be higher in leafy vegetables. The predominant contaminated bacteria were Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp. And Enterococcus faecalis, followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. faecium, Staphylococcus aureus and Acinetns to consumers.

    Materials and methods A prospective study was conducted of 48 women with AIS, divided into two groups. Patients in the first group (n = 36) were treated with edaravone 30 mg twice a day intravenously. Neuroprotectors were not used in the control group (n = 12). Clinical-instrumental and neurological examination (Glasgow scale (SCG), FOUR, NIHSS, and neuronspecific enolase (NSE) levels) were performed on all patients.

    Results The mean FOUR score in the 1th group increased from 11.04±0.85 to 15.47±0.63 points against 11.39±0.56 to 13.46±1.49 in the control group (pp<0.05). The level of NSE in control group patients increased 10-fold (from 9.2 to 96.4 ng/ml, p<0.01). Subsequently, there was a rapid decrease in NSE level in 1th group, and in the control group until 10 days of treatment, the level of NSE did not reach the reference values (p p<0.05).

    Material and methods Serum levels of IL-17 and IL-23 were measure by ELISA for 15 patients with Alzheimer's disease, 14 with vascular dementia, 30 with mild cognitive impairment and 30 control individuals without cognitive impairment.

    Results Serum concentrations of IL-17 were significantly higher in Alzheimer's disease patients (P=0.0023) than control, in vascular dementia no significant differences(P=0.4154). Level of IL-23 was significantly higher than control in Alzheimer's disease patients (P=0.0170) and vascular dementia (P=0.0002), but in Alzheimer's disease it was in 12.5 time higher. In total mild cognitive impairment patients no significant differences in interleukin concentration with control, but significant differences observed for amnestic form in IL-17 (P=0.0436) and IL-23 (P=0.0019).

  • This study aimed to comparatively evaluate the psychological well-being and health-related quality of life of subjects having either a convex or concave profile and abnormal overjet, with subjects having a straight profile and normal overjet.

    In this study, 163 children and their parents who applied to the Faculty of Dentistry were classified into 3 groups Group 1 convex profile, Class II molar relationship, and increased overjet (n=62; 28 boys and 34 girls; mean age 11.6 years); Group 2 concave profile, Class III molar relationship, and negative overjet (n=55; 32 boys and 23 girls; mean age 11.2 years); and Group 3 straight profile, Class I molar relationship without crowding, and normal overjet (n=46; 24 boys and 22 girls; mean age 11.0 years). The severity of malocclusion was evaluated using the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). Self-concept, depression, and state-trait anxiety were evaluated to determine the psychological well-being of the children.

    No differences were found among the groups with respect to self-concept, depression levels, state-trait anxiety levels, and quality of life scores. No correlation was found between the IOTN scores and psychological well-being.

    In this study, 220 cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of patients (110 female and 110 male) between the ages of 20-80 years were obtained from the archive of İzmir Katip Çelebi University Faculty of Dentistry. All patients were divided into decade groups according to their age, and each decade group was divided into two subgroups according to gender.     This study included 138 patients (82 females, 56 males) who were treated in the Department of Orthodontics, AltınbaÅŸ University. The mean age of the patients was 12.31±1.76 years, ranging from 7.8 years to 15.8 years. Dental maturity stages of canines and second premolars were evaluated according to the Demirjian index on digital panoramic radiograph. The skeletal maturation stage was determined using the cervical vertebral maturation (CVM) index. The Pearson correlation analysis was performed to assess the association among CVM stages and calcification stages of canines, second premolars, sex, and chronological ages.

    A statistically significant correlation was found between CVM and the calcification stages of the canines and second premolars (p<0.05). The calcification stages of the canines and second premolars had the highest distribution of Stage F and Stage G at CVM2 (p<0.01).     This study aimed to comparatively evaluate the psychological well-being and health-related quality of life of subjects having either a convex or concave profile and abnormal overjet, with subjects having a straight profile and normal overjet. In this study, 163 children and their parents who applied to the Faculty of Dentistry were classified into 3 groups Group 1 convex profile, Class II molar relationship, and increased overjet (n=62; 28 boys and 34 girls; mean age 11.6 years); Group 2 concave profile, Class III molar relationship, and negative overjet (n=55; 32 boys and 23 girls; mean age 11.2 years); and Group 3 straight profile, Class I molar relationship without crowding, and normal overjet (n=46; 24 boys and 22 girls; mean age 11.0 years).     Individuals undergoing rehabilitation often experience nutritional problems such as malnutrition, but there are no clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) specifically tailored to the combination of rehabilitation and nutritional care for these patients. The Japanese Association for Rehabilitation Nutrition aimed to develop CPGs for rehabilitation nutrition to support clinical decision making in daily practice.

    A CPG committee and development process based on the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation system and the Minds Handbook for Clinical Practice Guideline Development 2014 was established. Four clinical questions were defined for patients undergoing rehabilitation for cerebrovascular disease, hip fracture, cancer, and acute illness. Literatures of randomised control trials (RCTs) up to April 2020 were searched for using the MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, and Ichushi-web databases. After screening, full-text papers were assessed for eligibility for analysis. Subsequently, studies inquality and larger RCTs are needed to develop more practical CPGs.Respiratory Viruses infections (RVI) such as rhinovirus, coronavirus, influenza virus, and adenovirus affect the respiratory and the immune systems. The role of nutrition in the respiratory and immune systems has been studied in some studies, and its importance is undeniable. In addition, one of the key findings in this disease is high inflammation that affects almost all patients. This systematic narrative review aims to answer the question, "Can an anti-inflammatory diet be effective in preventing or treating viral respiratory diseases?" A systematic review search was used for the articles extraction. All studies published in English from 1999 to 2020 investigating dietary inflammatory conditions and RVI were included. Food items with anti-inflammatory properties were selected based on the definition of the dietary inflammatory index (DII). We used Google Scholar, Pub Med, Scopus, Web of Science, Springer, Science Direct, Directory of Open Access Journals, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, ProQuest, EBSCO, MEDLINE, and SciELO databases for extracting articles. Keywords were restricted by DII. Based on DII, food items/nutrients are involved in inflammation, some of which have anti-inflammatory and some inflammatory properties. Some foods/nutrients, in addition to their anti-inflammatory properties, have antioxidant, antiviral, and immune-enhancing properties. Considering the immune system's involvement, increased inflammation, and involvement of the pulmonary system in RVI and the remarkable role of the anti-inflammatory foods for counteracting them, it is recommended to use a predominantly anti-inflammatory diet along with prevention/control and treatment protocols. Critically, to ensure that variance in these measures is driven by features of the linguistic stimulus rather than reflecting participant- or trial-level variability, the neuroimaging and behavioral datasets were collected in nonoverlapping samples. We find no behavioral-neural link in functionally localized MD regions; instead, this link is found in the domain-specific, fronto-temporal "core language network," in both left-hemispheric areas and their right hemispheric homotopic areas.     The ATTR-ACT trial showed that tafamidis reduced all-cause mortality and cardiovascular-related hospitalizations in patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). This study aimed to estimate the impact of tafamidis on survival and quality-adjusted life-years (QALY).

    A multi-state, cohort, Markov model was developed to simulate the disease course of ATTR-CM throughout a lifetime. For survival extrapolation, survival curves were fitted by treatment arm and New York Heart Association (NYHA) class I/II (68% of patients) and NYHA class III (32% of patients) cohorts using the individual patient-level data from both the ATTR-ACT and the corresponding long-term extension study. Univariate and multivariate sensitivity analyses were conducted.

Specifically, functional magnetic resonance imaging data collected during naturalistic story listening are compared with theory-neutral measures of online comprehension difficulty and incremental processing load (reading times and eye-fixation durations). Critically, to ensure that variance in these measures is driven by features of the linguistic stimulus rather than reflecting participant- or trial-level variability, the neuroimaging and behavioral datasets were collected in nonoverlapping samples. We find no behavioral-neural link in functionally localized MD regions; instead, this link is found in the domain-specific, fronto-temporal "core language network," in both left-hemispheric areas and their right hemispheric homotopic areas. These results argue against strong involvement of domain-general executive circuits in language comprehension. The predicted mean survival for the total population (NYHA class I/II+III) was 6.73 years for tafamidis and 2.85 years for the standard of care (SoC), resulting in an incremental mean survival of 3.88 years (95% CI 1.32-5.66). Of the 6.73 life-years, patients on tafamidis spend, on average, 4.82 years in NYHA class I/II, while patients on standard of care (SoC) spend an average of 1.60 life-years in these classes. The combination of longer survival in lower NYHA classes produced a QALY gain of 5.39 for tafamidis and 2.11 for SoC, resulting in 3.29 incremental QALYs (95% CI 1.21-4.74) in favor of tafamidis. Among a total of 853 admissions (426 COVID-19, 138 MIS-C, and 289 asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2) in 814 patients, there were 20 patients with thrombotic events (TE) (including 1 stroke). Analysis of the data reveals that the eight plant families with the greatest numbers of species used in China, namely Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Rosaceae, Ranunculaceae, Poaceae, Lamiaceae, Orchidaceae, and Liliaceae, are also the top eight most species-rich Chinese plant families. However, there are some families that are over-represented or under-representation in certain use categories, compared with their relative abundance in the total flora. There are indications that rare and endangered species are being subject to some degree of over-exploitation. A disproportionately high number of used species are Chinese endemics (3552 species, representing over 33% of used species). A total of 20% of used species have been classified as threatened nationally or globally, according to at least one of the various threat assessments that have been made for the Chinese flora. This comprehensive inventory of the useful plants of China, with relevant ethnobotanical information included, provides a baseline for further studies of plant resources. This study aimed to model the current distribution of suitable habitat for each baobab species endemic to Madagascar and determine the effect that climate change will have on suitable baobab habitat by the years 2050 and 2070. The distribution was modeled using MaxEnt based on locality information of 245 occurrence sites of six species from both online database and our own field work. A total of seven climatic variables were used for the modeling process.

  • Salix triandra belongs to section Amygdalinae in genus Salix, which is in a different section from the willow species in which sex determination has been well studied. Studying sex determination in distantly related willow species will help to clarify whether the sexes of different willows arise through a common sex determination system. For this purpose, we generated an intraspecific full-sib F1 population for S. triandra and constructed high-density genetic linkage maps for the crossing parents using restriction site-associated DNA sequencing and following a two-way pseudo-testcross strategy. With the established maps, the sex locus was positioned in linkage group XV only in the maternal map, and no sex linkage was detected in the paternal map. Consistent with previous findings in other willow species, our study showed that chromosome XV was the incipient sex chromosome and that females were the heterogametic sex in S. triandra. Therefore, sex in this willow species is also determined through a ZW sex determination system. We further performed fine mapping in the vicinity of the sex locus with SSR markers. By comparing the physical and genetic distances for the target interval encompassing the sex determination gene confined by SSRs, severe recombination repression was revealed in the sex determination region in the female map. The recombination rate in the confined interval encompassing the sex locus was approximately eight-fold lower than the genome-wide average. This study provides critical information relevant to sex determination in S. triandra.Liriodendron tulipifera, also known as tuliptree, is a popular ornamental horticultural plant with extraordinary tulip-shaped flowers characterized by an orange band near their base. The mechanisms underlying petal band-specific pigmentation during L. tulipifera flower development are unclear. Here, we combined nontargeted and targeted metabolomics and transcriptomics to identify a pathway cascade leading to carotenoid biosynthesis that is specifically activated in the petal band. The comparative analysis of carotenoid metabolites between L. tulipifera and Liriodendron hybrids indicates that γ-carotene, a rare carotene in plants, is the most likely orange pigment responsible for the coloration of the petal band. Phenotypic and transcriptomic analyses of developing petals reveal that the band area is first predefined by the loss of green color. Later, the band is maintained by locally activating and repressing carotenoid and chlorophyll biosynthesis genes, respectively. Two rate-limiting genes of carotene biosynthesis, carotenoid isomerase (CRTISO) and epsilon lycopene cyclase (ε-LCY), encode the core enzymes responsible for petal band-specific orange pigmentation in L. tulipifera. In particular, a putative additional ε-LCY copy specific to L. tulipifera may contribute to the distinct petal coloration pattern, compared with L. chinense. In this study, we demonstrated that a cold-responsive gene module was involved in the freezing tolerance of kiwifruit. In this module, the expression of AaBAM3.1, which encodes a functional protein, was induced by cold stress. AaBAM3.1-overexpressing kiwifruit lines showed increased freezing tolerance, and the heterologous overexpression of AaBAM3.1 in Arabidopsis thaliana resulted in a similar phenotype. The results of promoter GUS activity and cis-element analyses predicted AaCBF4 to be an upstream transcription factor that could regulate AaBAM3.1 expression.     Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is a life-threatening complication that leads to comorbidities and prolonged hospital stay lengths in the setting of peripheral interventions. The presence of some CI-AKI risk factors has already been investigated. In this study, we evaluated the predictors of CI-AKI after carotid artery stenting.

    A total of 389 patients with 50% to 99% carotid artery stenosis who underwent carotid artery stenting were included in this study. Patients were grouped according to CI-AKI status.

    CI-AKI developed in 26 (6.6%) patients. Age, baseline creatinine level, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio were higher and estimated glomerular filtration rate, haemoglobin and lymphocyte count were lower in CI-AKI patients. In the multivariate regression analysis, the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio triggered a 1.39- to 2.63-fold increase in the risk of CI-AKI onset (
     < 0.001).

    Fragile soft clots and stiff clots remain challenging in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. This study aims to investigate the impact of clot stiffness on the efficacy of thrombectomy devices and a new aspiration catheter with a hydro-separator.

    The Neurostar aspiration catheter has a novel hydro-separator technology that macerates clots by a stream of saline inside the catheter. The Neurostar catheter and two commercially available devices, the SOFIA aspiration catheter and Solitaire stent retriever, were tested in this study. We evaluated the efficacy of each device on clots with various stiffness in a simple in vitro model. We also assessed single-pass recanalization performance in challenging situations with large erythrocyte-rich clots and fibrin-rich clots in a realistic vascular model.

    We observed an inverse association between the clot stiffness and recanalization rates. The aspiration catheter, SOFIA ingested soft clots but not moderately stiff clots. When removing soft clots with the stent retriever, fragmentation was observed, although relatively stiff clots were well-integrated and removed. The Neurostar ingested soft clots similar to the aspiration catheter, and also aspirated stiff clots by continuous suction with hydro-separator. In the experiments with challenging clots, the Neurostar led to significantly higher recanalization rates than the stent retriever and aspiration catheter.

Materials and Methods A total of 8,777 pregnant women who first visited before 13 weeks and 6 days of gestation and accepted routine prenatal service at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University from January 2015 to September 2018 were recruited in this study. Thyroid functions (thyroid stimulating hormone [TSH], free T4, and thyroid peroxidase antibody [TPOAb]) were measured before 13 weeks and 6 days of gestation and data of 7,536 subjects with TSH ≥0.1 mIU/L were analyzed. A 2-hour 75-g oral glucose tolerance test was performed between 24 and 28 gestational weeks. Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were applied to evaluate the relationship between SCH and GDM. Results The prevalence of SCH in this population was 7.53%. After stratifying the relationship between SCH and GDM according to TSH concentrations (slightly elevated TSH ≥2.5, less then 4.0 mIU/L; moderately elevated TSH ≥4.0, less then 10.0 mIU/L) and TPOAb status, a moderately elevated TSH combined with positive TPOAb (23.9% vs. normal 13.0%, chi-square = 6.317, p = 0.012) was found to increase the incidence of GDM. Quantile regression was used to evaluate the association between age and EF on percent engagement. Results Baseline demographics were not associated with engagement within or between groups. Neither baseline self-reported depressive symptoms (p = 0.244) nor deficits in EF (p = 0.34) were predictors of engagement. Univariate analysis found that the control arm had the highest engagement (83%) compared with AppCoach (63.5%) and AppAlone (22.5%, p = 0.02). Hispanic ethnicity was predictive of higher engagement in the control arm (p = 0.02). On multivariate quartile regression no other baseline characteristics were significant predictors of engagement. Conclusion Baseline demographics and individual psychosocial characteristics were not related to engagement in this cohort. We compared data extracted from dedicated structured EHR fields for ACP to a chart review of corresponding ACP documentation contained in the medical chart. Results Structured ACP data existed for 43.2% of patients and varied by site (25.7% -48.9%). Of the identified structured ACP data elements, 59.2% of recorded elements were correct, 23.7% were incorrect, and 17.1% were duplicates with heterogeneity across sites. Conclusion Structured ACP data in EHRs were frequently incorrect. This represents a problem for patients and their families, as well as quality improvement and research efforts.

Materials and Methods A total of 8,777 pregnant women who first visited before 13 weeks and 6 days of gestation and accepted routine prenatal service at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University from January 2015 to September 2018 were recruited in this study. Thyroid functions (thyroid stimulating hormone [TSH], free T4, and thyroid peroxidase antibody [TPOAb]) were measured before 13 weeks and 6 days of gestation and data of 7,536 subjects with TSH ≥0.1 mIU/L were analyzed. A 2-hour 75-g oral glucose tolerance test was performed between 24 and 28 gestational weeks. Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were applied to evaluate the relationship between SCH and GDM. Results The prevalence of SCH in this population was 7.53%. After stratifying the relationship between SCH and GDM according to TSH concentrations (slightly elevated TSH ≥2.5, less then 4.0 mIU/L; moderately elevated TSH ≥4.0, less then 10.0 mIU/L) and TPOAb status, a moderately elevated TSH combined with positive TPOAb (23.9% vs. normal 13.0%, chi-square = 6.317, p = 0.012) was found to increase the incidence of GDM.     The aim of this study was to assess Ethiopian medicinal plants with anti-inflammatory or wound healing activities, in an attempt to compile the information required for further investigation of their potential role in the management of lymphoedema.

    A systematic review protocol was developed according to the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis protocols (PRISMA-P) statement.
