    Thirty client-owned dogs requiring pericardiocentesis between January 2017 and August 2019.

    Dogs were randomized to undergo PE drainage via indwelling pericardial catheter placement (catheter group) followed by elective drainage every 4-6hours or needle pericardiocentesis (needle group) repeated as necessary.

    Fifteen dogs were allocated to the catheter group and 15 to the needle group. Data collected included signalment, cause of effusion, occurrence of arrhythmias pre-, during, and post-pericardiocentesis, procedural length, and details of repeated drainages. There was no significant difference between mean procedural times for pericardial catheter placement (17.7 min [±11.8]) and needle pericardiocentesis (12.1 min [±8.6]) (P= 0.192) or the rate of new arrhythmias in the catheter (36%)alone, and may be beneficial in the event that clinically significant PE recurs.

In women but not men, age, body weight, waist circumference, FM, and FFM increased significantly across tertiles of 25(OH)D. However, there was no difference in unadjusted or adjusted RMR across tertiles of 25OHD in both women and men. Stepwise forward regression analysis showed that age and FFM in men, age and FM in women but not by 25(OH)D, were determinants of RMR. In addition, RMR adjusted for age, sex, FM, FFM and triglyceride-glucose index did not relate to 25(OH)D when linear (r = 0, P = .98), quadratic (r = 0.008, P = .34), or cubic (r = 0.010, P = .43) relationships were tested.

Through analyzing polyA+ RNA-seq data from human replicative senescence models, we found IR was prevalent and dynamically regulated during senescence and IR changes negatively correlated with expression alteration of corresponding genes. We discovered that knocking down (KD) splicing factor U2AF1, which showed higher binding density to retained introns and decreased expression during senescence, led to senescence-associated phenotypes and global IR changes. In this protocol we optimized the method to evaluate tumor angiogenesis with the CSC model, which was described effective to assess sorafenib as an antiangiogenic drug, on chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay. Our results demonstrate that CSCs developed from iPSCs and CAM assay are a robust and cost-effective tool to evaluate tumor angiogenesis with CSCs. Collectively, CSCs in CAM assay could serve as a very useful model for the screening of potential therapeutic agents targeting tumor angiogenesis.

Although several antioxidants in marine mammals have been described, SA activity remains largely uncharacterized. In this study, we investigated the antioxidative activity of SA in marine mammals by comparing features of the primary and steric structures, biochemical properties, and antioxidative activities of common bottlenose dolphin SA (DSA) and human SA (HSA). Our results revealed that DSA lacked free cysteine at position 34 that is important for the antioxidative activity of HSA; however, the antioxidative capacity and thiol activity of DSA were stronger than those of HSA. Circular dichroism spectra showed different patterns in DSA and HSA. Ultraviolet fluorescence intensities of DSA were higher than those of HSA, suggesting lower surface hydrophobicity of DSA. Additionally, DSA showed higher excess heat capacity than HSA. We then compared a homology model of DSA with a 3D model of HSA. This narrative review aims to determine current trends in literature regarding the relationship between EC and alcohol dual use, as well as hypothesize potential pathogenic tissue damage and summarize areas for future study, including second-hand vapor exposure and calling for standardization among studies. In summary, EC users are more likely to participate in hazardous drinking and are at higher risk for alcohol use disorder (AUD). We surmise the pathogenic damage of dual use may exhibit an additive effect, particularly in pathogen clearance from the lungs, increased inflammation and decreased immune response, physical damage to epithelial cells, and exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)-like illnesses. A better understanding of pathogenic damages is critical to understand the risks placed on dual users when exposed to respiratory pathogens, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).Cranial neural crest cells (cNCCs) are migratory, multipotent cells that originate from the forebrain to the hindbrain and eventually give rise to the cartilage and bone of the frontonasal skeleton, among other derivatives. Signaling through the two members of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) family of receptor tyrosine kinases, alpha and beta, plays critical roles in the cNCC lineage to regulate craniofacial development during murine embryogenesis. Further, the PDGFRs have been shown to genetically interact during murine craniofacial development at mid-to-late gestation. Here, we examined the effect of ablating both Pdgfra and Pdgfrb in the murine NCC lineage on earlier craniofacial development and determined the cellular mechanisms by which the observed phenotypes arose. Our results confirm a genetic interaction between the two receptors in this lineage, as phenotypes observed in an allelic series of mutant embryos often worsened with the addition of conditional alleles. The defects observed here appear to stem from aberrant cNCC migration, as well as decreased proliferation of the facial mesenchyme upon combined decreases in PDGFRα and PDGFRβ signaling. Importantly, we found that PDGFRα plays a predominant role in cNCC migration whereas PDGFRβ primarily contributes to proliferation of the facial mesenchyme past mid-gestation. Following on, we measured the activities of five important antioxidant enzymes [superoxide dismutase (***), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and glutathione-S-transferase (GST)] when treated with B. brongniartii SB010 (1 × 109 spores/ml), matrine (0.5 mg/ml), and B. brongniartii SB010 (1 × 109 spores/ml) + matrine (0.5 mg/ml). Although prior studies document race-related stress and health correlations, due to methodological and technical limitations, they have been unable to directly test the stress-reactivity hypothesis in situ. Guided by theories of constructed emotion and allostasis, we developed a protocol using wearable sensors and daily surveys that allowed us to operationalize and time-couple self-reported racism-related experiences, negative emotions, and an independent biosignal of emotional arousal. We used data from 100 diverse young adults at a predominantly White college campus to assess racism-related stress reactivity using electrodermal activity (EDA), a biosignal of sympathetic nervous system activity. We find that racism-related experiences predict both increased negative emotion risk and heightened EDA, consistent with the proposed allostatic model of health and disease. Specific patterns varied across race/ethnic groups. For example, discrimination and rumination were associated with negative emotion for African American students, but only interpersonal discrimination predicted increased arousal via EDA. The pattern of results was more general for Latinx students, for whom interpersonal discrimination, vicarious racism exposure, and rumination significantly modulated arousal. Guided by theories of constructed emotion and allostasis, we developed a protocol using wearable sensors and daily surveys that allowed us to operationalize and time-couple self-reported racism-related experiences, negative emotions, and an independent biosignal of emotional arousal. We used data from 100 diverse young adults at a predominantly White college campus to assess racism-related stress reactivity using electrodermal activity (EDA), a biosignal of sympathetic nervous system activity. We find that racism-related experiences predict both increased negative emotion risk and heightened EDA, consistent with the proposed allostatic model of health and disease. Specific patterns varied across race/ethnic groups. For example, discrimination and rumination were associated with negative emotion for African American students, but only interpersonal discrimination predicted increased arousal via EDA. The pattern of results was more general for Latinx students, for whom interpersonal discrimination, vicarious racism exposure, and rumination significantly modulated arousal. Due to the increasing use of systemic drugs in dermatology and the simultaneously increasing polypharmacy, knowledge of interactions between medications is essential for dermatologists in order to avoid severe side effects of drugs. This article provides assistance in order to identify patients and medications with a high risk for severe interactions and, therefore, to avoid the occurrence of undesired effects or the reduction of the therapeutic effects of active substances. We would like to point out that this article deals with individual aspects and does not mean that the testing of individual drug interactions with interaction programs can be omitted.     The aim of the present study was to assess the long-term outcomes of the treatment of chronic ankle instability (CAI) with a four-step protocol.

    Fifty-four patients with isolated anterior talo-fibular ligament (ATFL) lesion suffering from CAI who underwent surgical treatment between 2000 and 2009 were assessed. All the patients underwent a four-step protocol including synovectomy, debridement of ATFL lesion borders, capsular shrinkage, and 21-day immobilization and nonweightbearing. Median age at surgery was 31.6years (18-48). Patients were examined preoperatively and at follow-up. Clinical assessment included the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle and hindfoot scoring system, Karlsson-Peterson score, Tegner activity level, and objective examination comprehending range of motion (ROM) and manual laxity tests.

Sixty-four consecutive MMD patients (67 hemispheres) who underwent STA-MCA anastomosis between August 2013 and September 2017 were included in this study. Intraoperative blood flow of superficial temporal artery and middle cerebral artery was measured with a noninvasive, ultrasound flowprobe, before and after the bypass. All data were collected prospectively. Before the bypass, 67 hemispheres were measured and 45 hemispheres acquired post-bypass measurements. Thirty-three (49.3%) had anterograde flow and 34 (50.7%) had retrograde. Retrograde blood flow was significantly higher than anterograde blood flow in MCA-M4 section (3.71 ± 2.78 ml/min vs 2.39 ± 1.71 ml/min, P = 0.023). Thirty-eight (56.7%) patients had local cerebrovascular reactivity, whereas 29 (43.3%) lost it. After bypass, blood flow was changed into three patterns anterograde flow (1, 2.2%), retrograde flow (3, 6.7%), and bi-direction flow (41, 91.1%).   • A Quantitative Structure-Retention Relationship (QSRR) model is proposed and aims at increasing the confidence level associated to the identification of organic contaminants by Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography hyphenated to High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS) in environmental samples under a suspect screening approach. The model was built from a selection of 8 easily accessible physicochemical descriptors, and was validated from a set of 274 organic compounds commonly found in environmental samples. The proposed predictive figure approach is based on the mobile phase composition at solute elution (expressed as % acetonitrile), that has the major advantage of making the model reusable by other laboratories, since the elution composition is independent of both the column geometry and the UHPLC-system. The model quality was assessed and was altered neither by the columns from different lots, nor by the complex matrices of environmental water samples. Then, the solute retention of any organic compound present in water samples is expected to be predicted within ± 14.3% acetonitrile by our model. Solute retention can therefore be used as a supplementary tool for the identification of environmental contaminants by UHPLC-HRMS, in addition to mass spectrometry data already used in the suspect screening approach.
    Evening chronotype has been linked with obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in middle-aged and older adults. However, few studies have analyzed this association in young adults. The aim of this study was to assess potential associations between individual chronotype and cardiometabolic outcomes in young adults of two independent populations from Europe and America.

    Total population comprised 2 223 young adults (18-29 years old), 525 from Spain (Europe) and 1 698 from Mexico (America). Anthropometric, body composition and biochemical analyses were performed. Circadian preference was determined using the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ).

    In these two young adult populations, a higher metabolic risk was found in those individuals with evening chronotypes, whereas those with neither or morning chronotypes showed lower cardiometabolic risk. Evening chronotypes showed lipid alterations with increased levels of triglycerides in both populations, VLDL-c in Spaniards and total cholesterol young adults, evening chronotypes have increased cardiometabolic risk and lipid alterations as compared to neither or morning chronotypes.
    Vitamin K prevents growth and metastasis of certain cancers, but there is little evidence regarding the association between dietary vitamin K and breast cancer incidence and death. We sought to examine whether intakes of total vitamin K, phylloquinone (vitamin K1) and menaquinones (MKs) (vitamin K2) may influence risks of breast cancer incidence and death in the US population.

    Herein, 2286 breast cancer cases and 207 breast cancer deaths were identified during 702,748 person-years of follow-up. Cox regression and competing risk regression were used to estimate multivariable-adjusted hazards ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) by dietary vitamin K intake quintile (Q) for risk of breast cancer incidence and mortality.

    After adjustment for confounders, the total MK intake was associated with an increased risk of breast cancer (HR Q5 vs Q1, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.05 to 1.52; P

Little evidence has linked the gut microbiome to regional body fat deposition. We investigated whether the abundance of specific taxa in the gut microbiota and the concentrations of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were associated with the content and regional deposition of body fat in children.

    This cross-sectional study involved 236 children aged 6-9 years. The fat mass contents/percentages in the total body and the android, gynoid, and limb regions were determined by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, and the android-to-gynoid fat mass ratio and fat-to-lean mass ratios were calculated.     A Quantitative Structure-Retention Relationship (QSRR) model is proposed and aims at increasing the confidence level associated to the identification of organic contaminants by Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography hyphenated to High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS) in environmental samples under a suspect screening approach. The model was built from a selection of 8 easily accessible physicochemical descriptors, and was validated from a set of 274 organic compounds commonly found in environmental samples. Cox regression and competing risk regression were used to estimate multivariable-adjusted hazards ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) by dietary vitamin K intake quintile (Q) for risk of breast cancer incidence and mortality. This study aims to evaluate the clinical significance of serum mannan-binding lectin associated serine protease (MASP)-2 and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) in the early diagnosis of NSCLC.

    The serum levels of MASP-2 and IDH1 were detected in 139 NSCLC patients, 46 patients with benign lung diseases and 61 healthy controls, using an enzyme linked immunosorbent method. The diagnostic significance in NSCLC of the two tumor markers were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. In addition, we compared the two markers with the current commonly used tumor marker cytokeratin 19 fragment (Cy¬fra21-1).

  • AbstractCollective behaviors are widespread in nature and usually assumed to be strongly shaped by natural selection. However, the degree to which variation in collective behavior is heritable and has fitness consequences-the two prerequisites for evolution by natural selection-is largely unknown. We used a new pharaoh ant (Monomorium pharaonis) mapping population to estimate the heritability, genetic correlations, and fitness consequences of three collective behaviors (foraging, aggression, and exploration), as well as of body size, sex ratio, and caste ratio. Heritability estimates for the collective behaviors were moderate, ranging from 0.17 to 0.32, but lower than our estimates for the heritability of caste ratio, sex ratio, and body size of new workers, queens, and males. Moreover, variation in collective behaviors among colonies was phenotypically correlated, suggesting that selection may shape multiple colony collective behaviors simultaneously. Finally, we found evidence for directional selection that was similar in strength to estimates of selection in natural populations. Using 40 years of data (1979-2017), we show that brown pairs, which mainly produce brown offspring consistent with a one-locus-two-alleles inheritance model, consistently raised heavier offspring than mixed (gray-brown) pairs and gray pairs. Offspring mass declined seasonally, except among offspring raised by brown pairs. Brown offspring could be heavier because of morph-specific parental care and/or offspring growth. Furthermore, mass at fledging is associated with fitness the probability of local recruitment into the breeding population increased with higher mass at fledging, especially in mild winters and with favorable food conditions, although recruitment is not morph specific. Here we explore the plausibility of this hypothesis with theoretical models. We confirm a previous result that when added to a model with drift but no competitive exclusion-that is, a neutral model where intrinsic fitnesses are perfectly equalized across species-Janzen-Connell effects maintain very high species richness that scales strongly with community size. However, when competitive exclusion is introduced-that is, when intrinsic fitnesses vary across species-the number of species maintained by Janzen-Connell effects is substantially reduced and scales **** less strongly with community size. Because fitness variation is pervasive in nature, we conclude that the potential of Janzen-Connell effects to maintain diversity is probably weak and that the mechanism does not yet provide a sufficient explanation for the observed high diversity of tropical forest tree communities. We find that female laying date harbors both genetic and environmental variation and is additionally influenced by the environmental and, to a lesser extent, genetic component of its mate. We demonstrate this partner effect to be largely explained by male arrival date. Interestingly, analyses of mating patterns with respect to arrival date show mating to be strongly assortative, and using simulations we show that assortative mating leads to overestimation of partner effects.

Here we investigate body mass at fledging and its consequences until adulthood in a population at the species' cold range margin. Using 40 years of data (1979-2017), we show that brown pairs, which mainly produce brown offspring consistent with a one-locus-two-alleles inheritance model, consistently raised heavier offspring than mixed (gray-brown) pairs and gray pairs. Offspring mass declined seasonally, except among offspring raised by brown pairs. Brown offspring could be heavier because of morph-specific parental care and/or offspring growth. Furthermore, mass at fledging is associated with fitness the probability of local recruitment into the breeding population increased with higher mass at fledging, especially in mild winters and with favorable food conditions, although recruitment is not morph specific. We confirm a previous result that when added to a model with drift but no competitive exclusion-that is, a neutral model where intrinsic fitnesses are perfectly equalized across species-Janzen-Connell effects maintain very high species richness that scales strongly with community size. However, when competitive exclusion is introduced-that is, when intrinsic fitnesses vary across species-the number of species maintained by Janzen-Connell effects is substantially reduced and scales much less strongly with community size. Because fitness variation is pervasive in nature, we conclude that the potential of Janzen-Connell effects to maintain diversity is probably weak and that the mechanism does not yet provide a sufficient explanation for the observed high diversity of tropical forest tree communities. Here, using 26 years of data from a pedigreed population of a migratory seabird, the common tern (Sterna hirundo), we investigate male and female effects on female laying date. We find that female laying date harbors both genetic and environmental variation and is additionally influenced by the environmental and, to a lesser extent, genetic component of its mate. We demonstrate this partner effect to be largely explained by male arrival date. Interestingly, analyses of mating patterns with respect to arrival date show mating to be strongly assortative, and using simulations we show that assortative mating leads to overestimation of partner effects.

Thus, in the present study, we explore how a stereogenic center is influenced by such an isotopic labeling. The studies were conducted on both enantiomers of flavanone (1 and 2) which is the parent molecule of a large group of pharmacologically active natural occurring secondary metabolites. Flavanone comprised 12 carbon atoms forming two benzene rings, a carbonyl group, an ethereal oxygen atom, a methylene group, and only one C-H stereogenic center, so it seems to be an ideal candidate for such studies. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were used for the accurate prediction of vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra of (R)-(3) and (S)-flavanone-2-d (4), of (R)-(5) and (S)-flavanone-3,3-d2 (6), and of (R)-(7) and (S)-flavanone-2',3',4',5',6'-d5 (8). To gain compounds that provide experimental VCD spectra for comparative purposes, the calculated spectra of both enantiomers of the corresponding flavanones, obtained after HPLC separation of the racemates by means of a chiral column, were contrasted, thereby revealing excellent agreements when using the CompareVOA software. In addition, the VCD spectra of both unlabeled enantiomeric flavanones (1 and 2) were also compared to the labeled molecules, revealing that the VCD spectra show significant variations induced by the deuterium incorporation.

    A single center, parallel, randomized, controlled, open-label trial using a computer-generated sequence was conducted at Siriraj Hospital. In all, 120 teenage mothers who delivered February 2015-December 2016 were randomized into experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in a 2-year, mother-role development program at the Young Family Clinic. The two groups' characteristics, pregnancy outcomes and postpartum follow-up details over the 2-year period were compared. The main outcome measure was the utilization of maternal healthcare services (MHS).

    The teenage mothers were randomized into two groups of 60 participants each. Many were progressively lost to follow-up, leaving only 37 (experimental group, 19; control group, 18) for the intention-to-treat analysis. The results demonstrated a higher MHS utilization by the experimental group, but only at the 6-wee teen pregnancies. Chemosensory sensation of taste is critically dependent on the salivary flow rate and its inorganic constituents, protein levels, specific 3',5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate and 3',5'-cyclic guanosine monophosphate levels, ghrelins, pH levels, and enzymes. Therefore, the question arises, "Does COVID-19 infection alter the salivary components and composition leading to early transient symptoms of Ageusia and hypogeusia?" The specimens were then cross-sectioned. The surface and cross-sectional micromorphology were assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The elemental analyses (weight%) were determined with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).

Our findings might provide an evidence-based reference for the future planning of an optimal strategy with the least compromise in care for a larger proportion of non-COVID-19 patients amid efforts against COVID-19 in a large non-COVID-designated hospital with hybrid status.Hb Manitoba [α102(G9)Ser→Arg] is a rare α chain variant with diverse ethnic origins. It is mildly unstable with an expression of around 10.0-14.2% in the heterozygous state in most literature. In this study, 12 cases of Hb Manitoba [11 cases carried Hb Manitoba II (HBA1 c.309C>A) and one case carried Hb Manitoba IV (HBA1 c.307A>C)] were detected during a wide-spectrum study of α chain variants in the UK. Fluctuation in variant expression from 6.9 to 15.2% of total Hb on high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) would pose a diagnostic dilemma in routine laboratories. Focusing on the variant expression, the median of Hb Manitoba was around 11.5% of total Hb in three cases, apparently with normal hemoglobin (Hb), and normal red blood cell (RBC) indices. Two cases showed a higher expression (13.9 and 15.2%) and five cases showed a lower expression (6.9-9.9%). The common α-thalassemia (α-thal) -α3.7 (rightward) deletion coexisted with one case of increased Hb Manitoba expression. Iron (or other nutrient) deficiency was likely the cause of decreased Hb Manitoba percentage in this study. The α73(EF2)Val→Val (α2) (HBA2 c.222G>T) polymorphism is published for the first time and coexisted with two cases. The Cap +14 (C>G) (HBA2 c.-24C>G) polymorphism coexisted with another case in a heterozygous state. In conclusion, the fluctuation in variant expression can cause a diagnostic dilemma, especially in routine laboratories.   • BACKGROUND Cryptogenic stroke has been used to identify ischemic strokes with no identified cause; however, this classification is limited by the lack of a standardized and thorough evaluation. Embolic Stroke of Undetermined Source is used to define those strokes with no identified cause after a standardized diagnostic workup.     Transgender people-those whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth-are at risk for health disparities resulting from stressors such as discrimination and violence. Transgender people report more drug use than cisgender people; however, it is unclear whether they have higher likelihood of drug use disorders. We examined whether transgender patients have increased likelihood of documented drug use disorders relative to cisgender patients in the national Veterans Health Administration (VA).

    Electronic health record data were extracted for VA outpatients from 10/1/09 to 7/31/17. Transgender status and past-year documentation of drug use disorders (any, opioid, amphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, sedative, hallucinogen) were measured using diagnostic codes. Logistic regression models estimated odds ratios for drug use disorders among transgender compared to cisgender patients, adjusted for age, race/ethnicity and year. Effect modification by presence of ≥1 mental health condition was tested usrs to accessing treatment and harm reduction services faced by transgender people.
    Many health professionals working with teenage and young adult cancer patients (TYA-HPs) do not provide advice on physical activity, dietary intake, smoking cessation, and alcohol consumption as part of routine cancer care.

    The aim of this study was to understand TYA-HPs' perspectives on the provision of health behavior advice and preferences on an intervention to help develop their health promotion skills.

    In-depth, semistructured interviews were conducted with 26 TYA-HPs (12 nurses, 8 clinicians, and 6 allied health professionals) whose average time working with teenage and young adult (TYA) cancer patients was 8 years. Each interview followed the same semistructured guide, which was based upon constructs of the COM-B model of behavior change (capability, physical opportunity, social opportunity, reflective motivation, and automatic motivation), transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using the Framework analysis.

    Overall, TYA-HPs recognized the value and importance of promoting health behaviors but felt that their capability to provide health behavior advice was limited by the availability of, and access to, good-quality evidence linking health behavior to cancer outcomes. The TYA-HPs expressed confusion over professional responsibility to provide choices.

  • The role played by mitochondrial function in the aging process has been a subject of intense debate in the past few decades, as part of the efforts to understand the mechanistic basis of longevity. The mitochondrial oxidative stress theory of aging (MOSTA) suggests that a progressive decay of this organelle's function leads to an exacerbation of oxidative stress, with deleterious impact on mitochondrial structure and DNA, ultimately promoting aging. Among the traits suspected to be associated with longevity is the variation in regulation of oxidative phosphorylation, potentially impacting the management of oxidative stress. Longitudinal studies using the framework of metabolic control analysis have shown age-related differences in flux control of respiration, but this approach has seldom been taken on a comparative scale. Using four species of marine bivalves exhibiting a large range of maximum lifespans (from 28y to 507y), we report lifespan-related differences in flux control at different steps of the electron transfer system. This is in part because robust analysis methods to diagnose axonal injury at the individual level have not yet been developed. Here, we present a pipeline for diffusion imaging analysis designed to accurately assess the presence of axonal injury in large white matter tracts in individuals. Average fractional had no diffusion evidence of axonal injury. More diffusion abnormality was seen with greater time since injury, across individuals at various chronic injury times and within individuals between subacute and 6-month scans. We provide evidence that this pipeline can be used to diagnose axonal injury in individual patients at subacute and chronic time points, and that diffusion MRI provides a sensitive and complementary measure when compared to susceptibility weighted imaging, which measures diffuse vascular injury. Guidelines for the implementation of this pipeline in a clinical setting are discussed.

Yet almost immediately, artists' resourcefulness shone as they continued to create, teach, and perform their art in new ways.
