    The objective of this study is to explore the role of miR-210 in the growth of ovarian cancer cells and the correlation with radiotherapy and to elucidate underlying molecular mechanisms.

    Human ovarian cancer cell lines OVCAR3 and SKOV3 were cultured in vitro, and miR-210 over-expression and low-expression ovarian cancer cell models were established by cell transfection. MTT assay was used to detect the proliferation activity. Transwell was used to detect the migration and invasion abilities. Western blot measured the expression of proteins related to cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. The cells were treated with different doses of ionizing radiation, and then the cell proliferation activity was detected by MTT. High conductivity molybdenum dioxide coated with carbon composite (MoO2@C) were introduced to coat the separator to study its application in lithium sulfur batteries. Molybdenum dioxide coated with carbon composite nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method and high-temperature calcination and then was coated on the separator with acetylene black. The coating layer can take advantage of the synergetic effect of physical barrier and chemical adsorption to reduce the loss of active substances. The electrochemical performance of the battery has been improved by applying MoO2@C in lithium-sulfur separator. The first discharge specific capacity is 917 mA h g-1 under the current density of 1.0 A g-1, after 300 cycles, the capacity is 618 mA h g-1; after 200 cycles under the current density of 2.0 A g-1, the reversible specific capacity can still maintain 551 mA h g-1.Circulating tumour cells (CTCs) are regarded as an effective biomarker for cancer detection, diagnosis and prognosis monitoring.   • Generative Adversarial Nets (GANs) are one of the most popular architectures for image generation, which has achieved significant progress in generating high-resolution, diverse image samples. The normal GANs are supposed to minimize the Kullback-Leibler divergence between distributions of natural and generated images. In this paper, we propose the Alpha-divergence Generative Adversarial Net (Alpha-GAN) which adopts the alpha divergence as the minimization objective function of generators. At a fixed set of base case operating conditions, the coefficients of performance were calculated to be 0.705, 0.713, and 0.716 for Reline/water, Ethaline/water, and Glyceline/water systems, respectively, while the corresponding mass flow rate ratios were 33.73, 11.53, and 16.06, respectively. Furthermore, the optimum operating conditions of each system were estimated. To verify the feasibility, results were compared to literature systems, including LiBr/water and various ionic liquid/water systems. The results indicate that DES/water working fluids have the potential to be used in such cycles. We calculated the weights and two indices with the entropy weight coefficient method based on collecting and processing of data from 2007 to 2017. We assessed and analyzed the sustainable development of Fujian with two indices and we drew three main conclusions. From 2007 to 2017, the development index of Fujian showed an increasing trend and the coordination index of Fujian showed a fluctuating trend. It is difficult to smoothly improve the coordination index of Fujian because the development speeds of Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) were low. The coordination index of Fujian changed from strong coordination to medium coordination from 2011 to 2012 because the development speed of the environmental dimension suddenly improved. It changed from strong coordination to medium coordination from 2015 to 2016 because the values of the development index of the social dimension were decreasing. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first SDGs-based multivariate indices of sustainable development for a region of China. A thorough rationalization, based on the scaling theory, for the subdiffusion Flory-De Gennes type exponent of 0 . 4 unfolds in conjunction with picking up the most appreciable fluctuations of the corresponding statistical-test parameter. These fluctuations coincide adequately with entropy fluctuations, namely the oscillations out of thermodynamic equilibrium. Using Fisher's test, we investigate the conformational entropy over time and suggest its oscillatory properties in the corresponding time domain. Using the Kruscal-Wallis test, we also analyze differences between the root mean square displacement of a molecule at various temperatures.

  • The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is involved in cell proliferation, immunoinflammatory response, hypoxia and angiogenesis, which are critical biological processes in lung cancer. Our aim was to study the association of putatively functional genetic polymorphisms in genes coding for proteins involved in RAS, hypoxia and angiogenesis with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) prognosis.

    Genotyping of 52 germline variants from genes of the RAS and hypoxic/angiogenic factors/receptors was performed using MassARRAY iPLEX Gold in a retrospective cohort (
    = 167) of advanced NSCLC patients. Validation of the resulting genetic markers was conducted in an independent group (
    = 190), matched by clinicopathological characteristics.

In a two-factorial study design (two groups with four strains) with 351 hens per variant, the brown egg-laying Lohmann Brown classic (LB) and Bovans Brown (BB) strains as well as the white egg-laying Lohmann Selected Leghorn classic (LSL) and Dekalb White (DW) strains were investigated. Compared to the CON, the EXP showed reduced body mass during rearing (p less then 0.001) and reduced albumen consistency in the laying period (p less then 0.001). Regarding integument condition, the LSL in the EXP showed more toe injuries than in the CON (p = 0.018). Remarkably, genotype-environment interactions between strains and groups were evident (p less then 0.001). In groups with an EM supply, plumage damage decreased in LB (p ≤ 0.033) and LSL (p ≤ 0.005) but increased in BB (p ≤ 0.003). Of note, antibiotic treatment within 30 days around ICI initiation was associated with significantly shorter mOS (8.5 vs. 17.4 months). Taken together, this study shows favorable outcomes for OS with low AFP, OR, and PFS > 6 months. No specific genetic pattern, including TMB, could identify responders. Our aim was to study the association of putatively functional genetic polymorphisms in genes coding for proteins involved in RAS, hypoxia and angiogenesis with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) prognosis.   • Previous studies have shown that sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) can be successfully performed using methylene blue (MB); however, this method still has some drawbacks. Indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging, as a selective method, has the potential for guiding SLNB. This study aimed to compare the clinical sensitivity and efficacy between ICG and MB in SLNB in breast cancer.

    A prospective study of 70 patients with biopsy-proven invasive breast cancer was conducted. Under the guidance of ICG and MB, administered by injection, SLNs were examined and removed. The detection rates, total number of SLNs detected, mean number of SLNs detected, and number of positive SLNs were compared between ICG and MB.

    The SLN detection rate was 100% and 93% (65/70) for ICG and MB, respectively. More SLNs were detected in the ICG group (243) than in the MB group (169). The mean number of SLNs detected with ICG and MB was 3.5±1.73 and 2.4±1.49, respectively. Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference between the number of SLNs detected using the two methods (t=6.648, P<0.05). Additionally, SLN metastasis was detected in 18 patients using ICG and 14 patients using MB; these patients immediately underwent axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). No postoperative complications were reported.

Therefore, early diagnosis of breast cancer is one of the most important methods to reduce mortality and improve prognosis. However, minimal breast cancer is difficult to differentiate from small benign breast masses due to insufficient typical malignant signs. The significantly increased range of enhancement can be an important indication for the prediction of malignancy; however, quantitative studies on the extent of enhancement are rarely reported. The purpose of this study was to investigate the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) area ratio in finding benign and malignant small breast masses.

    Color Doppler imaging (CDFI), contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), and superb micro-vascular imaging (SMI) are used to observe blood flow characteristics in Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) 4 nodules. Indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging, as a selective method, has the potential for guiding SLNB. This study aimed to compare the clinical sensitivity and efficacy between ICG and MB in SLNB in breast cancer. A prospective study of 70 patients with biopsy-proven invasive breast cancer was conducted. Under the guidance of ICG and MB, administered by injection, SLNs were examined and removed. The detection rates, total number of SLNs detected, mean number of SLNs detected, and number of positive SLNs were compared between ICG and MB. The SLN detection rate was 100% and 93% (65/70) for ICG and MB, respectively. More SLNs were detected in the ICG group (243) than in the MB group (169). The mean number of SLNs detected with ICG and MB was 3.5±1.73 and 2.4±1.49, respectively. Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference between the number of SLNs detected using the two methods (t=6.648, P<0.05). Additionally, SLN metastasis was detected in 18 patients using ICG and 14 patients using MB; these patients immediately underwent axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). No postoperative complications were reported. ICG demonstrated a higher detection rate and better accuracy, as well as a lower false negative rate, than MB in detecting SLNs in breast cancer.   • The relevance of CO2 emissions from geological sources to the atmospheric carbon budget is becoming increasingly recognized. Although geogenic gas migration along faults and in volcanic zones is generally well studied, short-term dynamics of diffusive geogenic CO2 emissions are mostly unknown. While geogenic CO2 is considered a challenging threat for underground mining operations, mines provide an extraordinary opportunity to observe geogenic degassing and dynamics close to its source. Stable carbon isotope monitoring of CO2 allows partitioning geogenic from anthropogenic contributions. High temporal-resolution enables the recognition of temporal and interdependent dynamics, easily missed by discrete sampling. Here, data is presented from an active underground salt mine in central Germany, collected on-site utilizing a field-deployed laser isotope spectrometer. Throughout the 34-day measurement period, total CO2 concentrations varied between 805 ppmV (5th percentile) and 1370 ppmV (95th percentile).     Traf2- and Nck-interacting kinase (TNIK) functions as a transcriptional coregulator of Wnt target genes. Given the convergence of Wnt and transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ) signalling, we examined the effects of a small-molecule TNIK inhibitor (named NCB-0846) on the TGFβ1-induced EMT of lung cancer cells.

    NCB-0846 inhibited the TGFβ1-induced EMT of A549 cells. This inhibition was associated with inhibition of Sma- and Mad-Related Protein-2/3 (SMAD2/3) phosphorylation and nuclear translocation. NCB-0846 abolished the lung metastasis of TGFβ1-treated A549 cells injected into the tail veins of immunodeficient ****. An original questionnaire survey was conducted in SE Poland with a representative sample of 1077 male students 335 from high school and 742 medical students. The results indicate the knowledge about TC epidemiology and the awareness of risk factors responsible for the TC was low. The knowledge of the signs and symptoms of TC was significantly higher among the medical students, compared to the high school students. The level of education was associated with the awareness of methods for early detection and symptoms of TC. A satisfactory level of awareness of the TSE practice was exhibited only by the medical students. The main reason for not performing self-examination was the lack of knowledge and practical skills. The deficits of knowledge of TC in young men should motivate the education policy makers in Poland to implement education in the field of TC issues more widely in high schools. Moreover, cancer prevention modules and/or teaching methods should be improved in medical schools.The present work aimed to find out the effect of different levels of hydrolysable tannin (HT) on serum hormonal profile, biochemical indices, lipid profile, apparent digestibility of nutrients and body weight gain in healthy female rats. Forty five adult healthy female rats of 8 weeks old were randomly divided into five equal groups. Different doses of HT 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2% were administered daily to each rats group on the body weight basis for 6 weeks. The results had shown the reduction trend (p  0.05) in the feed intake. The findings showed that HT had healthy effects on the serum biochemical indices and reproductive hormonal profile but had a negative impact on the nutrient digestibility. Thus, the study concluded that HT could be used as an herbal medicine for the treatment of leading metabolic and infertility diseases like obesity and polycystic ovarian syndrome in females.

NCB-0846 inhibited the TGFβ1-induced EMT of A549 cells. This inhibition was associated with inhibition of Sma- and Mad-Related Protein-2/3 (SMAD2/3) phosphorylation and nuclear translocation. NCB-0846 abolished the lung metastasis of TGFβ1-treated A549 cells injected into the tail veins of immunodeficient mice. An original questionnaire survey was conducted in SE Poland with a representative sample of 1077 male students 335 from high school and 742 medical students. The results indicate the knowledge about TC epidemiology and the awareness of risk factors responsible for the TC was low. The knowledge of the signs and symptoms of TC was significantly higher among the medical students, compared to the high school students. The level of education was associated with the awareness of methods for early detection and symptoms of TC. A satisfactory level of awareness of the TSE practice was exhibited only by the medical students. The main reason for not performing self-examination was the lack of knowledge and practical skills. The deficits of knowledge of TC in young men should motivate the education policy makers in Poland to implement education in the field of TC issues more widely in high schools. Moreover, cancer prevention modules and/or teaching methods should be improved in medical schools.The present work aimed to find out the effect of different levels of hydrolysable tannin (HT) on serum hormonal profile, biochemical indices, lipid profile, apparent digestibility of nutrients and body weight gain in healthy female rats. Forty five adult healthy female rats of 8 weeks old were randomly divided into five equal groups. Different doses of HT 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2% were administered daily to each rats group on the body weight basis for 6 weeks. The results had shown the reduction trend (p  0.05) in the feed intake. The findings showed that HT had healthy effects on the serum biochemical indices and reproductive hormonal profile but had a negative impact on the nutrient digestibility. Thus, the study concluded that HT could be used as an herbal medicine for the treatment of leading metabolic and infertility diseases like obesity and polycystic ovarian syndrome in females.

  • Accurate interpretations of neonatal cranial ultrasound (CUS) studies are essential skills for physicians in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in order to properly diagnose and manage brain injury. However, these skills are not formally taught to pediatric and neonatal-perinatal medicine (NPM) trainees in Canada. Therefore, our study describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a new web-based learning (WBL) module that focuses on teaching these skills.

    Trainees' needs assessment survey, sent to all NPM and pediatrics trainees (n = 62), concluded that most of them feel uncomfortable with their ability to interpret CUS, highlighting the need for a new educational intervention. The needs assessment informed the development of the WBL module, which we evaluated using questionnaires and pre-and post-testing methods to measure participants' satisfaction, knowledge gain, skills development, and behaviour changes. Only trainees rotating through the NICU over 6 months (n = 23) were invited to partital CUS.

However, effects of individual agents on prepubertal human testis, necessary to identify later risk, have not been determined. The study aimed to investigate the impact of cisplatin, commonly used in childhood cancer, on immature (foetal and prepubertal) human testicular tissues. Comparison was made with carboplatin, which is used as an alternative to cisplatin in order to reduce toxicity in healthy tissues.

    We developed an organotypic culture system combined with xenografting to determine the effect of clinically-relevant exposure to platinum-based chemotherapeutics on human testis. Human foetal and prepubertal testicular tissues were cultured and exposed to cisplatin, carboplatin or vehicle for 24 h, followed by 24-240 h in culture or long-term xenografting. Survival, proliferation and apoptosis of prepubertal germ stem cell populations (gonocytes and spermatogonia), critical for sperm nstrating platinum-induced loss of all germ cell populations, and similar effects of cisplatin or carboplatin. Furthermore, these experimental approaches can be used to determine the effects of established and novel cancer therapies on the developing testis that will inform fertility counselling and development of strategies to preserve fertility in children with cancer.

Small group teaching provides opportunities for learners to work collaboratively, and promotes team-building skills - skills that are essential to work within healthcare settings. The aim of this paper is to provide health professional students and early career health professionals involved in peer and near peer teaching, with an overview of approaches and tips to improve learner engagement when facilitating small groups.

This modification is produced via deamination on A34 and catalyzed by the adenosine deaminase acting on tRNA (ADAT) enzyme. Eukaryotic ADATs are heterodimers composed of the catalytic subunit ADAT2 and the structural subunit ADAT3, but their molecular assemblies and catalytic mechanisms are largely unclear.

    Here, we report a 2.8-Å crystal structure of Saccharomyces cerevisiae ADAT2/3 (ScADAT2/3), revealing its heterodimeric assembly and substrate recognition mechanism. While each subunit clearly contains a domain resembling their prokaryotic homolog TadA, suggesting an evolutionary gene duplication event, they also display accessory domains for additional structural or functional purposes. The N-lobe of ScADAT3 exhibits a positively charged region with a potential role in the recognition and binding of tRNA, supported by our biochemical analysis. Interestingly, ScADAT3 employs its C-terminus to block tRNA's entry into its pseudo-active site and thus inactivates itself for deamination despite the preservation of a zinc-binding site, a mechanism possibly shared only among yeasts.

    Zebrafish is a model organism widely used for the understanding of gene function, including the fundamental basis of human disease, enabled by the presence in its genome of a high number of orthologs to human genes. CRISPR/Cas9 and next-generation gene-editing techniques using cytidine deaminase fused with Cas9 nickase provide fast and efficient tools able to induce sequence-specific single base mutations in various organisms and have also been used to generate genetically modified zebrafish for modeling pathogenic mutations. However, the editing efficiency in zebrafish of currently available base editors is lower than other model organisms, frequently inducing indel formation, which limits the applicability of these tools and calls for the search of more accurate and efficient editors.

    Here, we generated a new base editor (zAncBE4max) with a length of 5560 bp following a strategy based on the optimization of codon preference in zebrafish. Our new editor effectively created C-to-T base substitution while maintaining a high product purity at multiple target sites.

  • Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a common and serious health and justice problem. Asylum seekers and refugees are generally vulnerable to violence and may be particularly vulnerable to IPV. The aim of this study is to identify factors associated with IPV perpetration and victimization in asylum seeking and refugee populations through a systematic review of the literature. PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, Global Health, PsycINFO, Westlaw, and Social Science Research Network databases were searched. Quantitative studies were included according to a population, exposure, outcome framework. Studies were critically appraised with the Joanna Briggs Institute's System for the Unified Management, Assessment and Review of Information tool and quality assessed according to the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations approach. Meta-analysis was not possible due to heterogeneity. A complex multitude of factors associated with IPV perpetration and victimization in asylum seeking and refugee populations was found. Narrative synthesis of 23 studies showed an inverse association between both perpetrator and victim education level and IPV. Relationship factors, legal status, and age were also important factors associated with IPV. The majority of studies had a cross-sectional design. Heterogeneity in definitions of IPV, sample, methods, statistical procedures, and outcomes was reported. Low education level is a consistent modifiable factor associated with IPV in asylum seeking and refugee populations. This work points to a testable intervention that stakeholders could trial to address the unjust and unhealthy problem of IPV. More and better quality research using standardized definitions, longitudinal design, and sensitive tools is needed in this area.The provision of social work services at district health centers are not well reported in previous studies. This study aimed to report the results of the provision of social work services at Dakto District Health Center, Kon Tum province, Vietnam, and to find out factors affecting this provision. This was a cross-sectional study that used secondary data, 13 in-depth interviews, and 2 focus group discussions to collect data. Among the social work services prescribed by the Ministry of Health, Dakto District Health Center provided the following four services information instruction and consultation services, and psychological support for patients; communication and health promotion services; services in support of health workers; and resources mobilization and coordination services. Our study found factors that hinder the provision of social work services at the center and suggested policies to the related parties.The purpose of this study is to synthesize the literature on hearing loss among racial/ethnic minorities in the United States. A scoping review of primary source articles from 1950 to 2019 was conducted across four databases-CINAHL, PsycINFO, PubMed, and Scopus-to identify peer-reviewed studies. Twenty-two research studies were included. Of the 22 studies, 19 were descriptive, and 3 were interventions. Among the 19 descriptive studies, five themes related to hearing loss were identified hearing loss prevalence, accuracy of hearing loss assessment, hearing loss risk factors, access to hearing care, and attitudes toward hearing loss. The three interventional studies focused on measuring hearing loss prevalence and promoting access to hearing care. Findings from this scoping review highlight that hearing loss is prevalent in racial/ethnic minorities. More research is needed on how economic, cultural, and age-related factors may influence hearing outcomes for racial/ethnic minorities.The spectrum of dengue infection illness ranges from mildly symptomatic disease to severe forms of dengue haemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Expanded dengue syndrome refers to unusual complications involving gastrointestinal, hepatic, neurological, pulmonary and renal systems. Subacute thyroiditis represents a very rare and under-recognised complication of dengue. We report a case of a 38-year-old female presenting with recurrent fever and throat pain following an episode of dengue. After detailed clinical examination, biochemical evaluation and imaging studies, a diagnosis of subacute thyroiditis complicating dengue was made. We discuss its clinical course and management in this report. Only four such cases have previously been reported in literature. Subacute thyroiditis may represent another rare facet of dengue expanded syndrome.
    Cervical cancer (CC) is the second most common type of malignant tumor survival rate is low in advanced stage, metastatic, and recurrent CC patients. This study aimed at identifying potential genes and drugs for CC diagnosis and targeting therapies.

    Three GEO mRNA microarray datasets of CC tissues and non-cancerous tissues were analyzed for differentially expressed genes (DEGs) by limma package. GO (Gene Ontologies) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) were used to explore the relationships between the DEGs. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) of these genes was established by the STRING database. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/2-3-butanedione-2-monoxime.html MCODE was used for screening significant modules in the PPI networks to select hub genes. Biochemical mechanisms of the hub genes were investigated with Metascape. GEPIA database was used for validating the core genes.     There was no difference in the FSF between groups in both cycle phases. We found an association between LP and worst scores on FSFI.
