Intrahospital transport, general anesthesia, and the prolonged duration of the central venous catheterization (CVC) in unfavorable conditions pose a significant risk to a critically-ill premature infant. We aimed to demonstrate a minimalized and safe manner of CVC in this patient population.
We worked on a prospective study in 51 critically-ill premature infants in which a 22 Gauge catheter was put in one of the central thoracic veins with the guidance of sonography as a bedside procedure. Of the patients, 27 (53%) were extremely premature, and 21 (41%) were extremely low birth weight infants (ELBW). The mean gestational age was 29 ± 5 weeks, and the mean weight at the time of the procedure was 1655 ± 1028 grams. While no anesthetic and sedative drugs were administered to ELBW infants during procedures, in the remainder of the cohort, procedures were carried out only under sedoanalgesia.
Vascular access was achieved in 48 (94%) of the patients after a mean number of 1.47 ± 0.75 attempts. Body heat loss of the patients at the end of the procedures was not statistically significant (p=0.164). However, ELBW infants lost their body heat significantly more than the rest of the cohort (p=0.032). We experienced clinically insignificant common carotid artery puncture in three patients and hemothorax in one patient.

Family integrated care (FICare) is a model that integrates families as partners in the modern neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) care and which can improve the health outcomes of preterm infants. Our study aimed to explore the effect of FICare on extremely preterm infants.
182 preterm infants with complete data were collecte from June 2017 to June 2018 in the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children. 66 of 182 infants were enrolled into the FICare group, and another 66 matched subjects were in the control group. SPSS 20.0 software (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) was used for statistical analysis. The correlation between each factor and weight gain was analyzed by linear regression.

The use of simulation-based medical education is strongly recommended to insure neonatal resuscitation skills for health caregivers. High fidelity simulation was executed to allow the evaluation of technical and non-technical skills. Salivary cortisol level was considered reliable biomarkers of adrenocortical activity and useful tool to learning assessment and stress response.
Our primary aim was to test changes in salivary cortisol levels before and after the simulation for neonatal resuscitation between high and low fidelity setting. Secondary aim was to evaluate salivary cortisol level in the participants, leader and not leader. Fifty-two health care providers were divided in ratio 11 into low-fidelity (LF group) and high-fidelity scenario (HF group) of neonatal resuscitation. In each group the participants assumed the role of team leader or not team leader. Salivary samples were collected from all participants 5 minutes before and after each simulation scenario by using oral swab. Analysis of difference was analysed by Kruskal Wallis test.
Salivary cortisol levels were significantly higher in HF group (n=26) than LF group (n=26) before the performance (5,407 mmol/l vs 3,090 mmol/l; p=0.018). In the HF group, salivary cortisol levels were significantly lower after simulation than before (p=0.007), moreover not team leader showed higher salivary cortisol levels before of the simulation than after (p=0.003). Team leaders showed higher salivary cortisol levels than not team leader after high-fidelity scenario (p=0.039).

Compared with CD34-positive SFT, CD34-negative SFT are more likely to arise in the head and neck area (32% vs. 24%, P=0.02) and present as metastatic disease (28% vs. 1%, P less then 0.0001). A significantly higher percentage of CD34-negative SFT exhibit high-grade cytologic atypia (hypercellularity, round cell or anaplastic morphology, nuclear pleomorphism, etc.) (48% vs. 22%, P=0.0073). There are no significant differences in the distributions of age, sex, tumor size, mitotic count, tumor necrosis, or risk stratification between CD34-negative and CD34-positive SFT. In addition, only 56% of CD34-negative SFT display a typical hemangiopericytoma-like vascular pattern.

CD146+CD31-CD45- pericytes were derived by fluorescence-activated cell sorting from human periosteum, adipose, or dermal tissue. Periosteal CD146+CD31-CD45- cells retained canonical features of pericytes/MSC. Periosteal pericytes demonstrated a striking tendency to undergo osteoblastogenesis in vitro and skeletogenesis in vivo, while soft tissue pericytes did not readily. Transcriptome analysis revealed higher CXCR4 signaling among periosteal pericytes in comparison to their soft tissue counterparts, and CXCR4 chemical inhibition abrogated ectopic ossification by periosteal pericytes. Conversely, enrichment of CXCR4+ pericytes or stromal cells identified an osteoblastic/non-adipocytic precursor cell. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed a change in the behavior of the resistive zone for both systems, a charge transfer trend in the abiotic cell, and a transformation of the charge transfer process to a diffusive process in the biotic cell after 48 h. Naming impairments are often found in aphasia. Combining mHealth technology with mental imagery may offer new insights into novel approaches to naming interventions in persons with aphasia. The aims of this study are to (1) explore whether mental imagery can improve performance during a naming task in adults with aphasia; and, (2) demonstrate the use of app-based data collection for research in aphasia rehabilitation through utilization of an app designed specifically for this study.
A single subject non-concurrent multiple baseline design across participants was utilized. Four participants with anomic and conduction aphasia were included. Each participant's percentage of naming accuracy was measured before the initiating intervention to establish a baseline level of performance.
Per overlap metrics, two of the participants demonstrated a strong effect in improving naming from baseline to intervention on items using the app. Two participants showed no effect in naming accuracy from the imagery intervention.
Some participants showed improvement in naming items following an imagery script, suggesting that this complementary health practice should continue to be explored. Additionally, this study demonstrates the successful use of app-based data collection.

Clinicians and researchers often focus on the primary cause of seizures and epilepsy, but outcomes in individual patients also depend on multiple other variables, which might be easy to adjust. Previous studies suggest mutual interactions between endocrine disorders and epilepsy. We therefore hypothesized that combined pituitary hormone deficiency (CPHD) facilitates seizures and epilepsy.
This is a retrospective study from a pediatric center. We determined the proportion of CPHD patients with epilepsy and examined basic clinical features in this group. Patients with super-refractory status epilepticus (SRSE) were reviewed to identify subjects with co-morbid CPHD. Those cases were analyzed in detail.
12 of 73 CPHD patients (16%) also had epilepsy. Various etiologies of CPHD were represented, though five subjects had a cranial tumor or cortical malformation. Epilepsy was drug resistant in all but one patient. Among 12 identified patients with SRSE, 4 were unexpected new-onset cases. Three of these subjects also had CPHD with ACTH deficiency and a febrile infection prior to SRSE. Another common feature was the devastating clinical course In all three patients, initial MRI already suggested severe neuronal damage, SRSE persisted for at least one week with ongoing need for anesthetic coma, and outcome was poor (two patients survived with major sequelae, one child deceased during the episode).
Our findings indicate that CPHD may predispose for drug-resistant epilepsy and refractory seizures with catastrophic outcome. We suggest that in children with new-onset SRSE, screening for CPHD should be considered.

Of the 55 studies, only 17 (31%) reported checking for any co-occurring policies, although 36 (67%) used at least one approach that helps address policy co-occurrence. Self-reported physician diagnoses of T2DM were ascertained until September 2017. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated using Cox proportional hazard models, overall and stratified by race/ethnicity. Mean age (standard deviation) at enrollment was 54.9 (8.8) years, 90% self-identified as non-Hispanic (NH)-White, 7% NH-Black, and 3% Hispanic/Latina. Over an average of 7 years of follow-up, there were 1,167 incident cases of T2DM. NH-Black women most frequently reported everyday (75%) and major (51%) racial/ethnic discrimination (vs. 4% and 2% [NH-White] and 32% and 16% [Hispanic/Latina]). While everyday discrimination was not associated, experiencing major discrimination was marginally associated with higher T2DM risk overall (HR=1.26 [95% CI0.99-1.61]) after adjustment for sociodemographic characteristics and body mass index. Associations were similar across racial/ethnic groups; however, racial/ethnic discrimination was more frequently reported among racial/ethnic minority women. A total of 543 adults aged 25 to 50 years with at least 1 CV risk factor were screened and recruited, received initial training through workshops, and were then randomized 11 to a peer-group-based intervention group (IG) or a self-management control group (CG) for 12 months. At a median of 52 months from baseline, 321 participants were re-assessed (~60% retention). The primary outcome was the mean change in a composite health score related to blood pressure, exercise, weight, alimentation, and tobacco use (Fuster-BEWAT score [FBS], range 0-15). Intervention effects were assessed using linear-mixed effects models.

Notably, SR was observed not only at the biopsied site, but also at the non-biopsied site. The aim of this study was to define the variability of maximal wall thickness (MWT) measurements across modalities and predict its impact on care in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
Left ventricular MWT measured by echocardiography or cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) contributes to the diagnosis of HCM, stratifies risk, and guides key decisions, including whether to place an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD).
A 20-center global network provided paired echocardiographic and CMR data sets from patients with HCM, from which 17 paired data sets of the highest quality were selected. These were presented as 7 randomly ordered pairs (at 6 cardiac conferences) to experienced readers who report HCM imaging in their daily practice, and their MWT caliper measurements were captured. The impact of measurement variability on ICD insertion decisions was estimated in 769 separately recruited multicenter patients with HCM using the European Society of Cardiology algorithm for 5-year risaders, MWT as a biomarker in HCM has a high degree of inter-reader variability and should be applied with caution as part of decision making for ICD insertion. Better standardization efforts in HCM recommendations by current governing societies are needed to improve clinical decision making in patients with HCM.

These findings were significant in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. Natural inorganic/organic nanohybrids are a fascinating model in biomaterials design due to their ultra-microstructure and extraordinary properties. Here, we report unique-structured nanohybrids through self-assembly of biomedical inorganic/organic nanounits, composed of bioactive inorganic nanoparticle core (hydroxyapatite, bioactive glass, or mesoporous silica) and chitosan shell - namely Chit@IOC. The inorganic core thin-shelled with chitosan could constitute as high as 90%, strikingly contrasted with the conventional composites. The Chit@IOC nanohybrids were highly resilient under cyclic load and resisted external stress almost an order of magnitude effectively than the conventional composites. The nanohybrids, with the nano-roughened surface topography, could accelerate the cellular responses through stimulated integrin-mediated focal adhesions. The nanohybrids were also able to load multiple therapeutic molecules in the core and shell compartment and then release sequentially, demonstrating controlled delivery systems. The nanohybrids compartmentally-loaded with therapeutic molecules (dexamethasone, fibroblast growth factor 2, and phenamil) were shown to stimulate the anti-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic and osteogenic events of relevant cells. When implanted in the in vivo calvarium defect model with 3D-printed scaffold forms, the therapeutic nanohybrids were proven to accelerate new bone formation. Overall, the nanohybrids self-assembled from Chit@IOC nanounits, with their unique properties (ultrahigh inorganic content, nano-topography, high resilience, multiple-therapeutics delivery, and cellular activation), can be considered as promising 3D tissue regenerative platforms.The next-generation closure device for interventional treatment of congenital heart disease is regarded to be biodegradable, yet the corresponding biomaterial technique is still challenging. To address challenges with existing formulation methods that have batch-to-batch variability and produce particles with high dispersity, microfluidics-devices that manipulate fluids on a micrometer scale-have demonstrated enormous potential to generate reproducible NP formulations for therapeutic, diagnostic, and preventative applications. Microfluidic-generated NP formulations have been shown to have enhanced properties for biomedical applications by formulating NPs with more controlled physical properties than is possible with bulk techniques-such as size, size distribution, and loading efficiency. In this review, we highlight advances in microfluidic technologies for the formulation of NPs, with an emphasis on lipid-based NPs, polymeric NPs, and inorganic NPs. We provide a summary of microfluidic devices used for NP formulation with their advantages and respective challenges. Additionally, we provide our analysis for future outlooks in the field of NP formulation and microfluidics, with emerging topics of production scale-independent formulations through device parallelization and multi-step reactions within droplets.
In 2019, a new coronavirus has been identified and many efforts have been directed toward the development of effective vaccines. However, the willingness for vaccination is deeply influenced by several factors. So the aim of our review was to analyze the theme of vaccine hesitancy during COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on vaccine hesitancy toward COVID-19 vaccine.
Narrative review.
In November 2020, we performed a search for original peer-reviewed articles in the electronic database PubMed (MEDLINE). The key search terms were "Vaccine hesitancy AND COVID-19". We searched for studies published during COVID-19 pandemic and reporting information about the phenomenon of vaccine hesitancy.
Fifteen studies were included in the review. The percentage of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance was not so high (up to 86.1% students or 77.6% general population); for influenza vaccine, the maximum percentage was 69%. Several factors influenced the acceptance or refusal (ethnicity, working status, religiosity, politics, gender, age, education, income, etc.). The most given reasons to refuse vaccine were as follows being against vaccines in general, concerns about safety/thinking that a vaccine produced in a rush is too dangerous, considering the vaccine useless because of the harmless nature of COVID-19, general lack of trust, doubts about the efficiency of the vaccine, belief to be already immunized, doubt about the provenience of vaccine.
The high vaccine hesitancy, also during COVID-19 pandemic, represents an important problem, and further efforts should be done to support people and give them correct information about vaccines.

The digital divide may lead to double exclusion as the COVID-19 pandemic has led to limited physical social contact as experts' recommendation of continuous social distancing and lack of access and usage of internet communication will leave older people socially isolated. The aim of this study is to explore how older people in rural Nigeria may be digitally excluded and its impact during the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative data was obtained from 11 older people using interviews. The collected data was then transcribed and analyzed thematically. Findings show that older people in rural Nigeria were digitally excluded. However, the older people argued that the digital exclusion is not the reason for their social isolation and loneliness. The study concluded by suggesting how caregivers and social workers can assist rural older people through activity schedule and radio programs designed for older people.The purpose of this study is to develop a framework for integrating essential safety practices (visualization, job safety analysis, and plan-do-check-act) into 5S steps and validate it. First, 18 interviews with a snowball sample of construction workers, safety representatives, supervisors, site and project managers were conducted. A grounded theory method was utilized to code the interview data. The results revealed that studied construction companies implement a systematic safety-based methodology to minimize construction work injuries. Second, to validate the proposed framework, a pre- and post-test study was applied. The case and control groups (26 participants) answered a 6S questionnaire before the 6S system and one month after it. In the interaction, the local network of court experience at Kassel intersected with the more universal network of traditional pedagogy at the court's university in Marburg. The entanglement produced both intellectual and social disturbance as traditional ways of knowing collided with practices supported by theoretical assumptions viewed as incompatible with established didactic method and logical claims to truth.As the use of digital technology becomes more widespread across the globe, older people remain among the group with the lowest access and usage. The digital divide may lead to double exclusion as the COVID-19 pandemic has led to limited physical social contact as experts' recommendation of continuous social distancing and lack of access and usage of internet communication will leave older people socially isolated. The aim of this study is to explore how older people in rural Nigeria may be digitally excluded and its impact during the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative data was obtained from 11 older people using interviews. The collected data was then transcribed and analyzed thematically. Findings show that older people in rural Nigeria were digitally excluded. However, the older people argued that the digital exclusion is not the reason for their social isolation and loneliness. The study concluded by suggesting how caregivers and social workers can assist rural older people through activity schedule and radio programs designed for older people.The purpose of this study is to develop a framework for integrating essential safety practices (visualization, job safety analysis, and plan-do-check-act) into 5S steps and validate it. First, 18 interviews with a snowball sample of construction workers, safety representatives, supervisors, site and project managers were conducted. A grounded theory method was utilized to code the interview data. The results revealed that studied construction companies implement a systematic safety-based methodology to minimize construction work injuries. Second, to validate the proposed framework, a pre- and post-test study was applied. The case and control groups (26 participants) answered a 6S questionnaire before the 6S system and one month after it. The results revealed that safety climate and productivity significantly increased for the case group but reduced for the control group during time.The title of this article refers to exploring both the history of chemistry in Japan and the history of Japanese chemistry. The last two decades in New Zealand have seen increased availability of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and early invasive coronary angiography (ICA) for other high-risk acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. One metric to assess the clinical appropriateness of these invasive strategies is to examine the false-positive rate for the investigation (ie, the rate of non-ACS diagnoses).
All patients presenting to New Zealand public hospitals with suspected ACS who underwent ICA between 2015 and 2019 were recorded prospectively in the All New Zealand Acute Coronary Syndrome Quality Improvement registry. The cohort was divided according to clinical impression at presentation (1) suspected STEMI <24h and (2) other suspected ACS. The final discharge diagnosis for each patient were obtained from the registry.

The outcomes from research should guide the decisions of healthcare providers, policymakers and funders. This study sought the perspectives of senior hospital clinicians and researchers from a New Zealand district health board (DHB).
A series of interviews asked participants about the purpose and benefits of research to the DHB, and to reflect upon the enablers and barriers they had experienced in conducting and translating research in a DHB context.
Three key themes were identified. The first theme suggested research should inform the DHB's purpose. The second theme identified how the general busyness, lack of research funding and the differing motivations of clinicians and business leaders doesn't make it easy to do research in a DHB. The third theme suggested that research barriers could be seen as opportunities. Participants placed importance on an environment that inspires enquiry; that permits staff to stop and question what they do; that overtly informs its community that research is done to improve the delivery of care; that communicates a purposeful research agenda; and that regularly discusses the intersection of research and the purpose of the DHB.
This study found the absence of an organisation-wide research ethos affected staff engagement in and with research. As a consequence, the effective transfer and translation of knowledge from research was disrupted. Key recommendations were for the DHB to integrate research activity into practice, regularly discuss research evidence and celebrate research achievements.

A discrete experiment in wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) timed to coincide with the census was used to investigate the spatial, temporal and socioeconomic patterns of illicit drug consumption in Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Canterbury.
For seven consecutive days over census week (6 March 2018), wastewater was sampled from seven wastewater treatment plants and analysed for methamphetamine, cocaine (as benzoylecgonine) and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). Detailed sewer catchment maps were developed and, together with the data, were used to analyse drug consumption.
Methamphetamine (mean 22.9 ± 9.9 doses/day/1000 people) was the most consumed drug, followed by MDMA (mean 1.7 ± 1.5 doses/day/1000 people) and cocaine (mean 0.5 ± 0.3 doses/day/1000 people). Methamphetamine consumption (and to a lesser extent MDMA) was high compared to that reported for Western nations, while cocaine consumption was extremely low. Cocaine and MDMA consumption were higher in cities compared to towns. In contrast, methamphetamine was typically higher in towns. Cocaine and MDMA were consumed more at weekends. Methamphetamine use was more consistent throughout the week. MDMA and cocaine were correlated with socioeconomic advantage, whereas methamphetamine was correlated with disadvantage.
This paper contextualises illicit drug use in three New Zealand regions containing 18.3% of the national population and confirms the pervasiveness of methamphetamine consumption in New Zealand towns. This work demonstrates how WBE can be used to explore the socioeconomic dimensions of drug use when duly combined with other data sources like censuses.

These compounds were predicted to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and to exhibit high levels of intestinal absorption. Furthermore, 'indirubin-AChE' and 'dehydroevodiamine-AChE' complexes were found to be stable, as determined by root mean square deviation (RMSD) during a 50 ns molecular dynamics simulation study. In this study, we developed a dissolvable oral polymeric film comprised of a live attenuated thermostable tetravalent rhesus-human reassortant rotavirus vaccine (RRV-TV) powder and antacid (CaCO3). Immunogenicity and protective efficacy of the vaccine after buccal delivery was evaluated in the gnotobiotic pig model of human rotavirus (HRV) infection and diarrhea. Two doses of the vaccine were highly immunogenic and conferred strong protection against virus shedding and diarrhea upon challenge with a high dose of a virulent G1 HRV in gnotobiotic pigs. Those pigs vaccinated with the preserved film vaccine had significantly delayed onset of diarrhea; reduced duration and area under the curve of diarrhea; delayed onset of fecal virus shedding; and reduced duration and peak of fecal virus shedding titers compared to pigs in both the placebo and the reconstituted liquid oral RRV-TV vaccine groups. Associated with the strong protection, high titers of serum virus neutralization antibodies against each of the four RRV-TV mono-reassortants and G1 HRV-specific serum IgA and IgG antibodies, as well as intestinal IgA antibodies, were induced by the preserved film vaccine. These results demonstrated the effectiveness of our thermostable buccal film rotavirus vaccine and warrant further investigation into the promise of the novel technology in addressing drawbacks of the current live oral HRV vaccines.

Thus, there is a great need for thermostable vaccines that can eliminate the necessity for cold chain storage or reconstitution before administration. In this study, we developed a dissolvable oral polymeric film comprised of a live attenuated thermostable tetravalent rhesus-human reassortant rotavirus vaccine (RRV-TV) powder and antacid (CaCO3). Immunogenicity and protective efficacy of the vaccine after buccal delivery was evaluated in the gnotobiotic pig model of human rotavirus (HRV) infection and diarrhea. Two doses of the vaccine were highly immunogenic and conferred strong protection against virus shedding and diarrhea upon challenge with a high dose of a virulent G1 HRV in gnotobiotic pigs. Those pigs vaccinated with the preserved film vaccine had significantly delayed onset of diarrhea; reduced duration and area under the curve of diarrhea; delayed onset of fecal virus shedding; and reduced duration and peak of fecal virus shedding titers compared to pigs in both the placebo and the reconstituted liquid oral RRV-TV vaccine groups. Associated with the strong protection, high titers of serum virus neutralization antibodies against each of the four RRV-TV mono-reassortants and G1 HRV-specific serum IgA and IgG antibodies, as well as intestinal IgA antibodies, were induced by the preserved film vaccine. Retinal nerve fiber/ganglion cell layer (RNFL/GCL) thickness measured using optical coherence tomography has been proposed as an ocular biomarker for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but findings varied in different studies. This study aims to determine the association between RNFL/GCL thickness and ADHD in children by systematic review and meta-analysis.
We performed a literature search in Embase, PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, and PsycINFO for relevant articles published up to February 29, 2020. All studies with original data comparing RNFL/GCL thickness in ADHD and healthy children were included. The Newcastle Ottawa Scale was used to assess bias risk and quality of evidence. Pooled estimates of the differences in thickness of RNFL or GCL between ADHD and healthy subjects were generated using meta-analysis with a random-effect model due to significant inter-study heterogeneity. Sensitivity analysis was also performed.
We identified four eligible studies involving a total of 164 ADHD and 150 control subjects. Meta-analysis revealed that ADHD in children was associated with a reduction in global RNFL thickness (SMD, - 0.23; 95% CI - 0.46, - 0.01; p = 0.04). The global GCL thickness was examined in two studies with 89 ADHD and 75 control subjects, but the pooled difference in global GCL thickness between ADHD children and controls was not statistically significant (SMD, - 0.34; 95% CI - 1.25, 0.58; p = 0.47).
Existing evidence suggests a possible association between ADHD and RNFL thinning in children. In view of the limited number of reports, further studies in large cohorts should be warranted.

A transient three-dimensional (3D) numerical model was established to illustrate the heat transfer, fluid flow and particle migration behaviors in the molten pool during TIG-assisted droplet deposition manufacturing (DDM) of SiC particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites (AMCs). The effect of temperature-dependent physical properties and the interaction between the SiC reinforcement and the liquid metal matrix were considered. A double-ellipsoidal volumetric heat source model was adopted to simulate the energy interactions between the pulse square-wave variable polarity TIG welding arc and the moving substrate. Free surface fluctuations of molten pool due to arc force and sequential droplet impact are calculated with volume of fluid (VOF) method in a fixed Eulerian structured mesh. In this study, we consider two types of extrasystoles-premature ventricular contraction (PVC) and premature atrial contraction (PAC)-which are types of extrasystoles that occur every day, even in healthy persons who have no cardiovascular diseases. A unified framework for ectopic RRI detection and a modification algorithm that utilizes an autoencoder (AE) type of neural network is proposed. The proposed framework consists of extrasystole occurrence detection from the RRI data and modification, whose targets are PVC and PAC. The RRI data are monitored by means of the AE in real time in the detection phase, and a denoising autoencoder (DAE) modifies the ectopic RRI caused by the detected extrasystole. These are referred to as AE-based extrasystole detection (AED) and DAE-based extrasystole modification (DAEM), respectively. The proposed framework was applied to real RRI data with PVC and PAC. The result showed that AED achieved a sensitivity of 93% and a false positive rate of 0.08 times per hour. The root mean squared error of the modified RRI decreased to 31% in PVC and 73% in PAC from the original RRI data by DAEM. In addition, the proposed framework was validated through application to a clinical epileptic seizure problem, which showed that it correctly suppressed the false positives caused by PVC. We carried out 35 semi-structured, qualitative in-depth interviews with SDPs, representing national governmental institutions, international organizations, and civil society organizations. The interviews were analyzed using content analysis. SDPs shared similar perceptions of CC and concurred with three ideas (1) CC is a real and lived experience in BF; (2) the population is aware of climatic changes in their environment; (3) CC is intertwined with the agricultural and economic development of the country. SDPs identified biodiversity loss, floods, droughts, and extreme heat as posing the highest risk to health. They elaborated five exposure pathways that are and will be affected by CC water quality and quantity, heat stress, food supply and safety, vector borne diseases, and air quality. In conclusion, SDPs in Burkina Faso are highly aware of CC hazards, relevant health exposure pathways, and their corresponding health outcomes. Mental health and the interplay between social factors and complex health risks constitute perception gaps.
