OBJECTIVE This study was designed to determine the effect of **** massage, acupressure, and a combination of a **** massage and acupressure to the levels of the hormone oxytocin and uterine involution of postpartum primipara mothers. METHOD It was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design that is observations made before and after treatment of the subject. Subjects consisted of 45 primipara postpartum mothers divided into three groups, each group consisting of 15 mothers. The interventions carried out were **** massage, acupressure, and a combination of **** massage. All interventions were carried out once a day for three days daily with a duration of 30min every morning at 09.00-09.15. Massage is carried out along the vertebrae until the 5th and 6th costal bone; then acupressure is performed at the LU point 1-rib 2, point CV 17, and point SI 1. RESULTS All groups given complementary therapy showed a significant increase in the oxytocin hormone. However, the highest increase was in the combination of **** massage and acupressure. CONCLUSION The combination of **** massage and acupressure therapy is worth considering as a complementary therapy for postpartum primiparous women in helping to increase the hormone oxytocin. The lowest serum levels of folic acid are in those with severe preeclampsia with complications. CONCLUSION The more severe the condition of preeclampsia, the lower the serum folic acid. METHOD This study used a prospective cohort study design. The total sampling was 87 people. The samples were pregnant women the second trimester and the third trimester. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and the Spearman test. Pregnant women who were respondents were monitored until birth; then, the examination of the baby's weight and placental weight after the baby was born using a scale was carried out. RESULTS The result of this study shows that there is no significant correlation between levels of vitamin B12 and insulin resistance (ρ=0.864, p>0.05), there is no significant correlation between vitamin B12 and infant weight (p=0.107, p>0.05), there is no significant correlation between vitamin B12 and placental weight (ρ=0.107, p>0.05). L.U.OBJECTIVE This study aims to understand the workings of portable double pumping Arduino Nano microcontroller, and analyze the average volume of breast milk produced between right and left breast using a portable double pumping using an Arduino Nano microcontroller. METHODS The study was conducted in the working area of the Jumpandang Baru Health Center. The breast milk-experimental method uses a pilot study approach. The sample collection formula is a feeder experiment with a purposive sampling technique following the predetermined inclusion criteria obtained by a sample of 15 breastfeeding mothers. RESULTS There was a difference in the average expenditure of breast milk after being pumped for 15min using a portable double pumping Arduino Nano microcontroller with a value of ρ=0.028, ρ less then α=0.05, the right breast produced more milk with an average value of 68.0ml, while for the left breast the average value is 55.0ml. CONCLUSION Our result confirmed that portable double pumping Arduino Nano microcontroller can be used as a breast milk tool for working mothers.

Core-periphery structure, the arrangement of a network into a dense core and sparse periphery, is a versatile descriptor of various social, biological, and technological networks. In practice, different core-periphery algorithms are often applied interchangeably despite the fact that they can yield inconsistent descriptions of core-periphery structure. For example, two of the most widely used algorithms, the k-cores decomposition and the classic two-block model of Borgatti and Everett, extract fundamentally different structures The latter partitions a network into a binary hub-and-spoke layout, while the former divides it into a layered hierarchy. We introduce a core-periphery typology to clarify these differences, along with Bayesian stochastic block modeling techniques to classify networks in accordance with this typology. Empirically, we find a rich diversity of core-periphery structure among networks. Through a detailed case study, we demonstrate the importance of acknowledging this diversity and situating networks within the core-periphery typology when conducting domain-specific analyses.Adult neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus is regulated by specific microglia groups and functionally implicated in behavioral responses to stress. However, the role of microglia in hippocampal neurogenesis and stress resilience remains unclear. We identified interleukin 4 (IL4)-driven microglia characterized by high expression of Arg1, which is critical in maintaining hippocampal neurogenesis and stress resistance. Decreasing Arg1+ microglia in the hippocampus by knocking down the microglial IL4R suppressed hippocampal neurogenesis and enhanced stress vulnerability. Increasing Arg1+ microglia in the hippocampus by enhancing IL4 signaling restored hippocampal neurogenesis and the resilience to stress-induced depression. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) was found necessary for the proneurogenesis effects of IL4-driven microglia. Together, our findings suggest that IL4-driven microglia in the hippocampus trigger BDNF-dependent neurogenesis responding to chronic stress, helping protect against depressive-like symptoms. In contrast, physics-based statistical estimators are limited by the convergence rate of the central limit theorem and provide, for the same statistical sample, at least a hundredfold larger error. Depletion of the cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAS)-stimulator of IFN genes (STING) DNA sensing pathway reduces steady-state IFN-I signaling and abrogates the broad antiviral phenotype of CLPP-null cells. Moreover, we report that CLPP deficiency leads to mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) instability and packaging alterations. Pharmacological and genetic approaches to deplete mtDNA or inhibit cytosolic release markedly reduce antiviral gene expression, implicating mtDNA stress as the driver of IFN-I signaling in CLPP-null ****. Our work places the cGAS-STING-IFN-I innate immune pathway downstream of CLPP and may have implications for understanding Perrault syndrome and other human diseases involving CLPP dysregulation.The prime function of proteasomes is the control of protein homeostasis in cells (i.e., the removal of proteins that are not properly folded, damaged by stress conditions like reactive oxygen species formation, or degraded on the basis of regular protein turnover). In this study, we investigated the requirement for IP to cope with the enhanced need for protein degradation during lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) infection in **** lacking the IP subunit LMP7. We found that IP are upregulated in the liver but not in the spleen during LCMV infection, although the total proteasome content was not altered. This article is concerned with the relationship between the job motivational and preference profile of individuals and their engagement in safety behaviours. Studies have investigated personality traits but not motive and value correlates of risk-related behaviour. More than 25,000 Americans completed a questionnaire on safety-related competencies in the workplace that measured six different, but related, safety-related traits. They also completed a motivational measure of preferences and values used extensively in personnel assessment and selection. The six safety dimensions yielded two factors labelled observant and resilient that, along with the total score, were the criterion variables. Step-wise regressions indicated that those with high needs for affiliation, hedonism and recognition tended to be less safety conscious. The two different factors also showed a different pattern of demographic and motivational correlates. Problems of method invariance are discussed, as well the role of job motivation individual differences in safety-related traits and competencies.Fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printers are increasingly used in industrial, academic, military, and residential sectors, yet their emissions and associated user exposure scenarios are not fully described. Characterization of potential user exposure and environmental releases requires robust investigation. During operation, common FFF 3D printers emit varying amounts of ultrafine particles (UFPs) depending upon feedstock material and operation procedures. Volatile organic compounds associated with these emissions exhibit distinct odors; however, the UFP portion is largely imperceptible by humans. This investigation presents straightforward computational modeling as well as experimental validation to provide actionable insights for the proactive design of lower exposure spaces where 3D printers may be used. Specifically, data suggest that forced clean airflows may create lower exposure spaces, and that computational modeling might be employed to predict these spaces with reasonable accuracy to assist with room design. The configuration and positioning of room air ventilation diffusers may be a key factor in identifying lower exposure spaces. A workflow of measuring emissions during a printing process in an ANSI/CAN/UL 2904 environmental chamber was used to provide data for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of a 6 m2 room. Measurements of the particle concentrations in a Class 1000 clean room of identical geometry were found to pass the Hanna test for agreement between model and experimental data, validating the findings.Receiving a report of an abnormal finding of Pap screening test in women often leads to anxiety and depression. The purpose of this study was to investigate the construct validity and internal consistency reliability of the Serbian version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) in women with abnormal Pap smear results. In 2017, a cross-sectional study was done involving 142 consecutive women attending cervical cancer screening who had received abnormal Pap smear results at one University clinical center in Serbia. We used exploratory factor analysis to establish the structure of the HADS and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used for assessing the internal consistency. In our study, the HADS demonstrated high internal consistency, for both subscales (Cronbach's alpha coefficient for subscale Anxiety was 0.862, and for subscale Depression was 0.851). The intra-class correlation coefficients for the two components were significant (0.860 and 0.843, p less then .001). Principal component analysis with Oblimin rotation indicated a two-factor structure that explained 56.4% of variance. Despite the known benefits of physical activity (PA) on cognitive function, the specific dimensions of PA that are associated with cognitive function require further research in China. We aimed to explore the patterns of PA and elucidate the association between cognitive function and different levels of PA in middle aged and elderly Chinese individuals.
A total of 8,023 participants aged ≥45 years were selected from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. The PA intensity was categorized as vigorous (VPA), moderate (MPA), and light (LPA). The associations of frequency and duration of PA at different intensities with cognitive function were examined using the multivariable linear model, including all respondents and urban-rural subgroups.
Compared with those who had no VPA, those who spent 6-7 days/week (β = -0.59, 95% CI -1.10, -0.09) or more than 240 min/each time on VPA had poorer cognitive function among rural respondents, whereas cognitive function was only associated with the duration in urban respondents.
This article is concerned with the relationship between the job motivational and preference profile of individuals and their engagement in safety behaviours. Studies have investigated personality traits but not motive and value correlates of risk-related behaviour. More than 25,000 Americans completed a questionnaire on safety-related competencies in the workplace that measured six different, but related, safety-related traits. They also completed a motivational measure of preferences and values used extensively in personnel assessment and selection. The six safety dimensions yielded two factors labelled observant and resilient that, along with the total score, were the criterion variables. Step-wise regressions indicated that those with high needs for affiliation, hedonism and recognition tended to be less safety conscious. The two different factors also showed a different pattern of demographic and motivational correlates. Problems of method invariance are discussed, as well the role of job motivation individual differences in safety-related traits and competencies.Fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printers are increasingly used in industrial, academic, military, and residential sectors, yet their emissions and associated user exposure scenarios are not fully described. During operation, common FFF 3D printers emit varying amounts of ultrafine particles (UFPs) depending upon feedstock material and operation procedures. Volatile organic compounds associated with these emissions exhibit distinct odors; however, the UFP portion is largely imperceptible by humans. This investigation presents straightforward computational modeling as well as experimental validation to provide actionable insights for the proactive design of lower exposure spaces where 3D printers may be used. Specifically, data suggest that forced clean airflows may create lower exposure spaces, and that computational modeling might be employed to predict these spaces with reasonable accuracy to assist with room design. The configuration and positioning of room air ventilation diffusers may be a key factor in identifying lower exposure spaces. A workflow of measuring emissions during a printing process in an ANSI/CAN/UL 2904 environmental chamber was used to provide data for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of a 6 m2 room. We used exploratory factor analysis to establish the structure of the HADS and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used for assessing the internal consistency. In our study, the HADS demonstrated high internal consistency, for both subscales (Cronbach's alpha coefficient for subscale Anxiety was 0.862, and for subscale Depression was 0.851). The intra-class correlation coefficients for the two components were significant (0.860 and 0.843, p less then .001). Principal component analysis with Oblimin rotation indicated a two-factor structure that explained 56.4% of variance. We then compared the predicted genetic offsets from different sets of candidate and randomly selected SNPs to measurements of population performance in the common gardens. We found the expected inverse relationship between genetic offset and performance populations with larger predicted genetic offsets performed worse in the common gardens than populations with smaller offsets. In this study, through molecular, histopathologic, antigenic and morphological evidences, we demonstrate the presence and replication of RHDV2 in Eurasian badgers (Meles meles) found dead in the district of Santarém, Portugal, between March 2017 and January 2020. In these animals, we further classify the RHDV2 as a Lagovirus europaeus recombinant GI.4P-GI.2. Our results indicate that Meles meles is susceptible to RHDV2, developing systemic infection, and excreting the virus in the faeces. Given the high viral loads seen in several organs and matrices, we believe that transmission to the wild rabbit is likely. Furthermore, transmission electron microscopy data show the presence of calicivirus compatible virions in the nucleus of hepatocytes, which constitutes a paradigm shift for caliciviruses' replication cycle.2D NOESY plays a central role in structural NMR spectroscopy. We have recently discussed methods that rely on solvent-driven exchanges to enhance NOE correlations between exchangeable and non-exchangeable protons in nucleic acids. The origins of these enhancements are discussed, and their potential is demonstrated on RNA fragments derived from the genome of SARS-CoV-2, recorded with better sensitivity and an order of magnitude faster than conventional 2D counterparts.
Post-nasal drip (PND)-induced cough is a common cause of chronic cough. However, there is little known about the characteristic physical findings of this condition.
We investigated views of the pharyngeal wall in patients with PND-induced cough using a handy endoscopic images.
The subjects were 135 consecutive patients referred to our hospital with a sensation of something "dripping down the throat" as one of their symptoms. Physical findings for the oropharynx were examined using Wi-Fi endoscope camera. The difference in probability of symptoms in patients with acute cough and those with subacute/chronic cough was assessed using a Bayesian Fisher exact test on a 2×2 table.
Among the patients, 105 (78%) complained of cough, 78 (58%) of acute cough, 20 (15%) of subacute cough, and 7 (5%) of chronic cough; and 71 (53%) had coexisting asthma. Using Bayesian inference, a sore or scratchy throat and fever were more common in patients with acute cough than in those with subacute/chronic cough. In endoscopic images of the oropharynx, a reddish curtain sign on the posterior pharyngeal wall behind the palatopharyngeal arch was found in 121 patients (90%).

Automated milk feeders also have the ability to track individualized behavioral data, such as milk consumption, drinking speed, and the number of rewarded and unrewarded visits to the feeder, that could potentially be used to predict disease development. The objective of this scoping review was to characterize the body of literature investigating the use of AMF data to predict morbidity and mortality in dairy calves during the preweaning stage. This review lists the parameters that have been examined for associations with disease in calves and identify discrepancies found in the literature. Five databases and relevant conference proceedings were searched. Eligible studies focused on the use of behavioral parameters measured by AMF to predict morbidity or mortality in prewemetrics as indicators of disease, all 13 studies investigated milk consumption and 6 and 7 studies investigated drinking speed and number of rewarded and unrewarded visits, respectively. Overall, this scoping review identified that daily milk consumption, drinking speed, and rewarded and unrewarded visits may provide insight into early disease detection in preweaned dairy calves. However, the disparity in reporting of study designs and results between included studies made comparisons challenging. In addition, to aid with the interpretation of studies, standardized disease outcomes should be used to improve the utility of this primary research.The objective of this randomized clinical trial was to determine if an intervention with colostrum replacer (CR; Premolac Plus, Zinpro; 125 g/d fed for 3 d) or a placebo milk replacer (Cows Match, Land O'Lakes Inc.; 125 g/d for 3 d) following a triggered alarm could ameliorate disease bouts in dairy calves. The alarm was set to detect negative deviations of milk intake (20% reduction) or drinking speed (30% reduction) in relation to a calf's 12-d rolling average feeding behavior. Calves were enrolled on this study (n = 42 CR, n = 42 placebo) when they triggered an alarm from d 14 to 50 on the feeder before weaning. Once calves were enrolled, calves received a bottle of either 125 g of CR or milk replacer mixed with 1 L of water for 3 d. Calves were enrolled on the automated milk feeder at age 4.0 ± 2.0 d (mean ± SD), were offered 10 L/d of the same milk replacer fed as a placebo, and had ad libitum access to calf starter measured by automated feeders. Weaning began at d 50, with 50% reduction of milk replacer64 (95% CI 1.11-2.43) times greater odds of having a BRD bout compared with CR calves for the 7 d following intervention. Moreover, placebo calves had 1.50 (95% CI 1.11-2.08) times greater odds of having lobar lung consolidation in the 7 d after intervention than CR calves. No difference was found in the likelihood of diarrhea in the 7 d after intervention (odds ratio 0.91; 95% CI 0.71-1.16). However, placebo calves had a 2.38 (95% CI 1.30-4.33) times greater hazard of incurring BRD in the 14 d after intervention. Models of daily DFI may improve prediction of nutrient supply to young Holstein calves to approximately 4 mo of age, thereby increasing prediction of growth performance.Automated milk feeders (AMF) are computerized systems that provide producers with a tool that can be used to more efficiently raise dairy calves and allow for easier implementation of a high plane of nutrition during the milk feeding phase. Automated milk feeders also have the ability to track individualized behavioral data, such as milk consumption, drinking speed, and the number of rewarded and unrewarded visits to the feeder, that could potentially be used to predict disease development. The objective of this scoping review was to characterize the body of literature investigating the use of AMF data to predict morbidity and mortality in dairy calves during the preweaning stage. This review lists the parameters that have been examined for associations with disease in calves and identify discrepancies found in the literature. Five databases and relevant conference proceedings were searched. Eligible studies focused on the use of behavioral parameters measured by AMF to predict morbidity or mortality in prewemetrics as indicators of disease, all 13 studies investigated milk consumption and 6 and 7 studies investigated drinking speed and number of rewarded and unrewarded visits, respectively. Overall, this scoping review identified that daily milk consumption, drinking speed, and rewarded and unrewarded visits may provide insight into early disease detection in preweaned dairy calves. However, the disparity in reporting of study designs and results between included studies made comparisons challenging. In addition, to aid with the interpretation of studies, standardized disease outcomes should be used to improve the utility of this primary research.The objective of this randomized clinical trial was to determine if an intervention with colostrum replacer (CR; Premolac Plus, Zinpro; 125 g/d fed for 3 d) or a placebo milk replacer (Cows Match, Land O'Lakes Inc.; 125 g/d for 3 d) following a triggered alarm could ameliorate disease bouts in dairy calves. The alarm was set to detect negative deviations of milk intake (20% reduction) or drinking speed (30% reduction) in relation to a calf's 12-d rolling average feeding behavior. Calves were enrolled on this study (n = 42 CR, n = 42 placebo) when they triggered an alarm from d 14 to 50 on the feeder before weaning. Once calves were enrolled, calves received a bottle of either 125 g of CR or milk replacer mixed with 1 L of water for 3 d. Calves were enrolled on the automated milk feeder at age 4.0 ± 2.0 d (mean ± SD), were offered 10 L/d of the same milk replacer fed as a placebo, and had ad libitum access to calf starter measured by automated feeders. Weaning began at d 50, with 50% reduction of milk replacer64 (95% CI 1.11-2.43) times greater odds of having a BRD bout compared with CR calves for the 7 d following intervention. Moreover, placebo calves had 1.50 (95% CI 1.11-2.08) times greater odds of having lobar lung consolidation in the 7 d after intervention than CR calves. No difference was found in the likelihood of diarrhea in the 7 d after intervention (odds ratio 0.91; 95% CI 0.71-1.16). However, placebo calves had a 2.38 (95% CI 1.30-4.33) times greater hazard of incurring BRD in the 14 d after intervention. After giving a fake reason for why they had to wait, participants were shut in an empty room alone for 7.5 minutes and afterwards asked to report their impressions regarding the experienced time and reactions to the situation. Boredom was associated with the feeling of time passing more slowly and more frequent thoughts about time. The propensity to self-regulate was related to less awareness of time and to lower levels of boredom. Mediation analyses revealed that the level of boredom mediates the relationships between self-regulation processes and time perception. Based on the graphene floating gate, a tunable terahertz metamaterial absorber is proposed. Compared with the traditional graphene-dielectric-metal absorber, our absorber has the property of being non-volatile and capacity for anti-interference. Using the finite element method, the paper investigates the absorption spectra, the electric field energy distribution, the tunability and the physical mechanism. In addition, we also analyse the influence of geometry, polarization and incident angles on the absorption. Simulation results show that the bandwidth of the absorption above 90% can reach up to 2.597 THz at the center frequency of 3.970 THz, and the maximum absorption can be tuned continuously from 14.405% to 99.864% by controlling the Fermi level from 0 eV to 0.8 eV. Meanwhile, the proposed absorber has the advantages of polarization insensitivity and a wide angle, and has potential applications in imaging, sensing and photoelectric detection.Previous research involving epithelial ovarian cancer patients showed that, compared to germline **** (gBRCA) mutations, somatic **** (sBRCA) mutations present a similar positive impact with regard to overall survival (OS) and platinum and PARP (poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase) inhibitor sensitivity. Among the 158 patients included in the study, 17.09% of patients carried a pathogenic or likely pathogenic gBRCA variant and 15.19% of patients presented pathogenetic or likely pathogenic sBRCA variants and/or CNVs. Overall, 81.6% of the patients included in this study were diagnosed with a serous histotype, and 77.2% were in advanced stages. Among women diagnosed in advanced stages, gBRCA patients showed better progression-free survival and OS as compared to sBRCA and wild-type patients, whereas sBRCA patients did not show any advantage in outcome as compared to wild-type patients. In this study, the introduction of CNV analyses increased the detection rate of sBRCA mutations, and the resulting classification among gBRCA, sBRCA and wild-type patients was able to properly stratify the prognosis of OC patients. This work presents a Near-Wall Positioning System (NWPS) based on the combination of an Ultra-wideband (UWB) solution and LIDAR-based range finders. This NWPS has been developed and tested to allow precise positioning and orientation of a multirotor UAV relative to a wall when performing tasks near it. Specific position and orientation control hardware based on horizontal thrusters has also been designed, allowing the UAV to move smoothly and safely near walls.The choice of optimal reference gene is challenging owing to the varied expression of reference genes in different organs, development stages, and experimental treatments. Brandt's vole (Lasiopodomys brandtii) is an ideal animal to explore the regulatory mechanism of seasonal breeding, and many studies on this vole involve gene expression analysis using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). In this study, we used the method of the coefficient of variation and the NormFinder algorithm to evaluate the performance of nine commonly used reference genes Gapdh, Hprt1, β-actin, PPIA, Rpl13a, Tbp, Sdha, Hmbs, and B2M using qRT-PCR in eight different tissues, five developmental stages, and three different photoperiods. We found that all nine genes were not uniformly expressed among different tissues. B2M and Rpl13a were the optimal reference genes for different postnatal development stages in the hypothalamus for males and females, respectively. This NWPS has been developed and tested to allow precise positioning and orientation of a multirotor UAV relative to a wall when performing tasks near it. Specific position and orientation control hardware based on horizontal thrusters has also been designed, allowing the UAV to move smoothly and safely near walls.The choice of optimal reference gene is challenging owing to the varied expression of reference genes in different organs, development stages, and experimental treatments. Brandt's vole (Lasiopodomys brandtii) is an ideal animal to explore the regulatory mechanism of seasonal breeding, and many studies on this vole involve gene expression analysis using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). In this study, we used the method of the coefficient of variation and the NormFinder algorithm to evaluate the performance of nine commonly used reference genes Gapdh, Hprt1, β-actin, PPIA, Rpl13a, Tbp, Sdha, Hmbs, and B2M using qRT-PCR in eight different tissues, five developmental stages, and three different photoperiods. We found that all nine genes were not uniformly expressed among different tissues. B2M and Rpl13a were the optimal reference genes for different postnatal development stages in the hypothalamus for males and females, respectively. Recent functional studies have reported that amygdala and anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) dysfunction is a reproducible and good biomarker of major depressive disorder. When we use the activation of these regions as biomarkers of major depressive disorder, a short and simple stimulation paradigm could be preferable to reduce the burden on patients. However, negativity bias, which is the phenomenon by which negative stimuli are processed noticeably faster than positive stimuli, might affect the activation of these regions in the short and simple stimulation paradigm. Few studies have reported the relationship between the length of the stimulation paradigm and activation in the amygdala and ACC from the viewpoint of negativity bias. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of negativity bias on the amygdala and ACC as a result of manipulating the stimulation paradigm (short-simple vs. long-complex conditions) on presenting pleasant and unpleasant pictures. Image analyses showed that the amygdala was activated during unpleasant picture presentation, regardless of the task length, but no activation was observed during pleasant picture presentation under the short-simple condition. Twelve healthy subjects completed the active and passive training modes at various speeds (0.12, 0.18, and 0.24 m/s) for the right upper limb. The functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) was used to measure the neural activities of the sensorimotor cortex (SMC), premotor cortex (PMC), supplementary motor area (SMA), and prefrontal cortex (PFC).
Both the active and passive training modes can activate SMC, PMC, SMA, and PFC. The activation level of active training is higher than that of passive training. At the speed of 0.12 m/s, there is no significant difference in the intensity of the two modes. However, at the speed of 0.24 m/s, there are significant differences between the two modes in activation levels of each region of interest (ROI) (P < 0.05) (SMC F = 8.90, P = 0.003; PMC F = 8.26, P = 0.005; SMA F = 5.53, P = 0.023; PFC F = 9.160, P = 0.003).

The public expression data of glioblastoma samples and normal brain samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas database, Genotype-Tissue Expression database and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas database were used to analyze the expression of DCBLD2 and its relationship with the survival of patients with glioblastoma. Quantitative real-time PCR and western blot were used to evaluate mRNA and protein levels of DCBLD2. Cell viabilities were tested using Cell Counting Kit-8 and clone formation assays. Cell invasive and migratory abilities were measured by transwell assays.
DCBLD2 expression was upregulated in glioblastoma and has a significantly positive correlation with the WHO classification. In addition, high expression of DCBLD2 was closely correlated with poor prognosis in primary and recurrent patients with glioblastoma.

The data were collected from image folders reported and accepted by radiologists. The objective image quality was assessed through a signal to noise ratio (SNR) analysis prior to using the data and extracting DRL values.

Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) after pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) can be associated with severe postoperative morbidity. This study aims to develop a preoperative POPF risk calculator that can be easily implemented in clinical routine.
Patients undergoing PD were identified from a prospectively-maintained database. A total of 11 preoperative baseline and CT-based radiological parameters were used in a binominal logistic regression model. Parameters remaining predictive for grade ****POPF were entered into the risk calculator and diagnostic accuracy measures and ROC curves were calculated for a training and a test patient cohort. The risk calculator was transformed into a simple nomogram.
A total of 242 patients undergoing PD in the period from 2012 to 2018 were included. CT-imaging-based maximum main pancreatic duct (MPD) diameter (p=0.047), CT-imaging-based pancreatic gland diameter at the anticipated resection margin (p=0.002) and gender (p=0.058) were the parameters most predictive for grade Btine and may be a valuable model to select patients for POPF-preventive therapy or as a stratification tool for clinical trials.

The aim of our study was to identify and analyse all published cases of AIP and PDAC co-occurrence, focusing on the interval between the diagnoses and the cancer site within the pancreas.
Relevant studies were identified through automatic searches of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, and supplemented by manual checks of reference lists in all retrieved articles. Missing/unpublished data were obtained from the authors of relevant publications in the form of pre-prepared questionnaires.
A total of 45 cases of PDAC in AIP patients were identified, of which 12 were excluded from the analysis due to suspicions of duplicity or lack of sufficient data. Thirty-one patients (94%) had type 1 AIP. Synchronous occurrence of PDAC and AIP was reported in 11 patients (33%), metachronous in 22 patients (67%). In the metachronous group, the median period between diagnoses was 66.5 months (2-186) and a majority of cancers (86%) occurred more than two years after AIP diagnosis. In most patients (70%), the cancer originated in the part of the pancreas affected by AIP.

After implementation of the circumferential resection margin (CRM) into standard histopathological evaluation, the margin negative resection rate has drastically dropped. However, the impact of surgical radicality on survival and the influence of malignant infiltration of the mesopancreatic fat remains unclear. At our institution, a standardized dissection of the mesopancreatic lamina and peri-pancreatic vessels are obligatory components of radical pancreatoduodenectomy. The aim of our study was to histopathologically analyze mesopancreatic tumor infiltration and the influence of CRM-evaluated resection margin on relapse-free and overall survival.

The primary goal of this study was to examine the factor structure of a spina bifida (SB) medical responsibilities measure and a medical regimen skills scale across time in families of youth with SB.
One-hundred and forty youth with SB and their parents were assessed in both childhood/adolescence and adolescence/young adulthood. The Sharing of SB Medical Responsibilities Scale (SOSBMR) includes 34 items for which participants indicate who is responsible for each task. The SB Independence Survey (SBIS) is composed of 50 SB-specific medical skills items in yes-no format. Confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) were conducted to examine the factor structure of the SOSBMR and SBIS in childhood and adolescence (ages 8-15) and in adolescence/young adulthood (AYA; ages 16-25).
One- and seven-factor CFAs were compared for both measures. For the SBIS, both mother- and father-report were used in childhood; self-report was employed for AYA. For the SOSBMR, only self-report was used for both age groups. Across each rater and time point, the seven-factor models of the SBIS and SOSBMR had adequate to excellent fit and reliability, indicating the ability to use each subscale. In addition, each of the corresponding subscales on the SOSBMR and SBIS were associated with each other across raters and time, showing good concurrent and predictive validity.
From childhood to young adulthood, the subscales of the SOSBMR can be used to examine responsibility across multiple medical tasks and the SBIS can be used to assess medical regimen skills and mastery in young people with SB.

Scrub typhus is typically associated with a rapid defervescence and clinical improvement within 48 h of initiation of appropriate antibiotics. But increasing reports of resistance to anti-rickettsial medications in scrub typhus are being reported in the literature.
This is a retrospective observational study of children up to the age of 14 years admitted between July 2017 and March 2020, to a private medical college hospital in southern part of India. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical response to antibiotic therapy with doxycycline and azithromycin in pediatric scrub typhus infection.
One hundred thirty-eight children with scrub typhus infection were included for analysis. The median fever control time (h) was 12 (IQR = 6-29) and 24 (IQR = 10-52) with doxycycline and azithromycin respectively (p < 0.001*). Rapid fever control within 48 h was observed in 92% with doxycycline and in 74% with azithromycin (p < 0.001*). The clinical failure rate (defined by the necessity to change the gamushi to azithromycin as compared to doxycycline in this region.
This retrospective study aims to compare the clinical response to doxycycline or azithromycin in the treatment of scrub typhus infection in children. The median fever control time, clinical failure rate and the proportion of children with rapid defervescence of fever within 48 h were significantly superior with doxycycline as compared to azithromycin. The findings of this study and those of similar studies in India represent a spectrum of delayed clinical response of Orientia tsutsugamushi to azithromycin as compared to doxycycline in this region.

To characterize the role of the gut microbiota in diarrheal cryptosporidiosis, the microbiome composition of both diarrheal and surveillance Cryptosporidium-positive fecal samples from 72 infants was evaluated using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Additionally, the microbiome composition prior to infection was examined to test whether a preexisting microbiome profile could influence the Cryptosporidium infection phenotype.
Fecal microbiome composition was associated with diarrheal symptoms at two timepoints. Megasphaera was significantly less abundant in diarrheal samples when compared to subclinical samples at the time of Cryptosporidium detection (log2(fold change) = -4.3, p=10 -10) and prior to infection (log2(fold change) = -2.0, p=10 -4); this assigned sequence variant was detected in 8 children who had diarrhea and 30 children without diarrhea. Random forest classification also identified Megasphaera abundance in the pre- and post-exposure microbiota as predictive of a subclinical infection.
