    We have developed an agent-based model and simulation tool that can be used to analyze the outcomes and effectiveness of different testing strategies and scenarios in schools with various number of classrooms and class sizes. We have applied a modified version of a standard SEIR disease transmission model that includes symptomatic and asymptomatic infectious populations, and that incorporates feasible public health measures. We also incorporated a pre-symptomatic phase for symptomatic cases. Every day, a random number of students in each class are tested. If they tested positive, they are placed in self-isolation at home when the test results are provided. Last but not least, we have included options to allow for full testing or complete self-isolation of a classroom with a positive case.

    We present sample simulation results for parameter values based on schools and disease related information, in the Province of Ontario, Canada. The findings show that testing can be an effective method in controlling the SARS-CoV-2 infection in schools if taken frequently, with expedited test results and self-isolation of infected students at home.

A nonparametric mass-univariate voxel-based morphometric analysis was used to compare regional gray matter volume differences between good and poor responders. A multivariate pattern recognition based on the support vector machine was further implemented to identify neuroanatomical indicators to predict an individual's response.

Recognition of the function-structure interrelation in foot at the early stage of valgus alignment of first metatarsophalangeus joint (1stMTPJ) would help explain the etiology of HV.

    The frequency of weight-shifting patterns during walking and the body mass index (BMI) were assessed relative to goniometric measurements of the 1stMTPJ angle in adolescents. Weight-shifting patterns were identified with a plantar pressure analysis, performed with the Gaitline- Maxline Distance method.

    As the 1stMTPJ angle widened, the frequency distributions of identified weight-shifting patterns became increasingly lopsided, due to the favoring or disfavoring of one pattern at the expense of the other. The two sexes showed opposite trends in the weight-shifting patterns that were favored/disfavored, relative to participants with a 0º 1stMTPJ angle. The clear predominance of a central-shift pattern, at the expense of a medial-shift, occurred with the largest (20º) 1stMTPJ angle among girls. Additionally, the BMI distributions associated with 1stMTPJ angle characteristics showed opposite trends between the sexes.

Here we assessed the single and combined effects of these stressors on zooplankton communities collected from a Mediterranean coastal lagoon. An indoor microcosm experiment was designed with temperature variation (20 °C and 30 °C), salinity (no addition, 2.5 g/L NaCl) and the insecticide chlorpyrifos (no addition, 1 μg/L) as treatments. The impact of these stressors was evaluated on water quality variables and on the zooplankton comunity (structure, diversity, abundance and taxa responses) for 28 days. This study shows that temperature is the main driver for zooplankton community change, followed by salinity and chlorpyrifos. The three stressors contributed to a decrease on zooplankton diversity. The increase of temperature contributed to an increase of zooplankton abundance. Salinity generally affected Cladocera, which resulted in a Copepoda increase at 20 °C, and a reduction in the abundance of all major zooplankton groups at 30 °C. The insecticide chlorpyrifos affected primarily Cladocera, altough the magnitude and duration of the direct and indirect effects caused by the insecticide substantially differed between the two temperature scenarios. Chlorpyrifos and salinity resulted in antagonistic effects on sensitive taxa (Cladocera) at 20 °C and 30 °C. The G-MIP was prepared by using LTL as the template, gallic acid (GA) as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinking agent, and 2,2'-azobis(2-methylpropionitrie) (AIBN) as the initiator. The properties of G-MIP were characterized by FT-IR, transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, dynamic light scattering, specific surface area, and X-ray photoelectron spectrum. The adsorption conditions were optimized, and the adsorption equilibrium model and adsorption kinetics model of the adsorbent were investigated under the best experimental conditions. The saturated adsorption capacity is 1.24 mg g-1, which is not only higher than the adsorption capacity of 4-carboxyphenylboronic acid-affinity MIP adsorbent but also superior to those of many reported adsorbents for enriching of LTL. The LTL was quantified by HPLC. The linear range is 0.05-100 mg L-1, the detection limit is 0.020 mg L-1. This method was successfully applied in the selective recognition of LTL in herbal medicines with recoveries of 93.9-114.2%, and the relative standards deviations (RSDs) are 0.4-5.6%. Semi-preparative HPLC was used to obtain less complex fractions of the wine extracts. The fractions were eluted in water/ethanol and, therefore, could be smelled directly. Fractions with the targeted aroma character were further resolved by GC-preparative fraction collection (GC-PFC). Recombinational GC-PFC demonstrated the importance of the components within a 4 min preparative GC fraction to the 'overripe orange' aroma of typical Bordeaux dessert wine. The adsorption conditions were optimized, and the adsorption equilibrium model and adsorption kinetics model of the adsorbent were investigated under the best experimental conditions. To address these questions, we asked fifty-three participants (age M = 23.2, SD = 2.9, 13 males) to perform a breaking Continuous Flash Suppression (bCFS) task to measure the speed of subliminal processing, and a Go/No-Go task to measure inhibition, using food and nonfood stimuli. We collected whole-brain structural magnetic resonance images and functional resting-state activity. A higher BMI predicted slower subliminal processing of images independently of the type of stimulus (food or nonfood, p = 0.001, εp2 = 0.17). This higher threshol-level sensory integration, and reward. We sought to determine the incidence of a pathogenic variation in DICER1 in a cohort of RMSs of the FGT, as well as to evaluate the clinicopathological features and outcomes of the patients. Individuals with a missense mutation in the tumor were also screened for a loss of function germline mutation in DICER1.

    Of 210 cases of pediatric RMS, 11 arose from the FGT. Molecular genetic sequencing of the tumor samples revealed a somatic missense mutation in the RNase IIIb domain of DICER1 in a total of 3 patients, 2 patients with embryonal RMS of the cervix/uterus, and 1 patient with ovarian embryonal RMS. As a result of genetic testing for the loss of function germline mutation in DICER1, a heterozygous pathogenic variant was also found in 2 of these patients.

    Despite the limited number of patients, our findings suggest that it is important to be aware of the possible association between RMS of FGT and pathogenic germline DICER1 variants because the detection of this mutation in a patient or relatives can provide the opportunity for surveillance of related conditions that might improve long-term outcomes and survival.

    Lipomatous tumors of the vulva are exceedingly rare, particularly in adolescents. We describe the work-up and management of an adolescent girl who presented with a large, well-vascularized vulvar mass.

    A 14-year-old girl presented with a large vulvar mass of unclear etiology. Magnetic resonance imaging of this mass revealed an ill-defined, well-vascularized mass with fat signal characteristics suggestive of a lipomatous tumor that was concerning for malignancy. We performed complete resection of the mass, and histologic evaluation revealed a vulvar hibernoma. There have been no signs of recurrence 1 year later.

    Although rare, a hibernoma of the vulvar region may present in adolescence and may be concerning for malignancy on imaging. Complete resection of these tumors is recommended for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

    Reported cases of xenobiotic exposures from 1 March to 30 April in 2018, 2019, and 2020 were extracted from the French National Database of Poisonings. The collected data included call, patient, and exposure characteristics for both general calls and for calls involving sentinel xenobiotic categories related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 exposures were compared to 2018-2019 exposures by using simple logistic models in order to provide effect size with odds ratios.

    From March to April 2020, 32,182 exposures were reported to French PCCs with an overall increase of 5.6% compared to exposures in the same time frame in 2018-2019. A similar increase in calls was observed in non-epidemic and epidemic COVID-19 areas with an increase in calls from the public (+13.6%) while calls from health-professionals decreased (-7.5%). Despite the increase in exposures, the incidence of symptomatic exposures remained stable (-0.4%) with a decrease in severity (moderate/severe -17.2%). A significant increase in exposures to home cleaning products containing biocides, essential oils, and alcohol-based hand sanitizers (odds ratio >1.3,

In postoperative day 7, her nostrils were large enough for premade silicone nasal retainer to fit. She was discharged with instructions given to use the retainer for 6 months. Custom-made nasal retainer can be used as an alternative to premade nasal retainers for patients with wide columella or small nostril cavities, or who cannot afford premade retainers.

    To compare current tube-free pumps from an ecological standpoint, a tube-free insulin pump with a modular design and two non-modular tube-free pumps were subjected to manual separation, manual sorting, characterization, and mass determination. The annual waste volume of a user was measured, and the recyclability was assessed. The global warming potential (GWP) resulting from extraction of raw materials, energetic utilization of waste, and landfill of the incineration residues was balanced.

    For the modular tube-free pump, a total waste volume of 5.5 kg/a (recycling percentage 44.3%) was determined. The non-modular systems generated 4.9 kg/a (recycling percentage 14.6%) and 5.1 kg/a (recycling percentage 16.0%) waste. The product-specific GWP of the modular system was approximately 50% lower than that of the non-modular systems; the packaging-specific GWP was 2.5 times higher. In total, a GWP of 13.6 kg CO
    -equivalent per year could be determined for the modular system and a GWP of 15.5 kg CO

We employed an open-ended key informant interview guide to interview 26 staff of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, National Road Safety Authority and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority. The interviews which lasted between 30 and 45 min per session were analysed through a thematic approach facilitated by ATLAS.ti. The findings showed that the barriers to the enforcement of seat belt laws mentioned by the participants were institutional factors (inadequate resources and logistics and inability to enforce vehicle safety standards) political factors (external interference and lack of consensus on seat belt law implementation) and human factors (poor public attitudes and non- recognition of road safety as both individual and collective responsibility). The findings showed that the barriers to the enforcement of seat belt laws mentioned by the participants were institutional factors (inadequate resources and logistics and inability to enforce vehicle safety standards) political factors (external interference and lack of consensus on seat belt law implementation) and human factors (poor public attitudes and non- recognition of road safety as both individual and collective responsibility). The enforcement of road safety laws could be enhanced by adequately resourcing officers, addressing external interference of police duties and empowering officers to perform their duties without fear or favour. These findings are also useful in continuous public education and enhanced enforcement of the seat belt laws.Individual differences in sulcal variation within the anterior and mid-cingulate cortex of the human brain, particularly the presence or absence of a paracingulate sulcus (PCGS), are associated with various motor and cognitive processes. Recently, it has been reported that chimpanzees possess a PCGS, previously thought to be a unique feature of the human brain. Here, we examined whether individual variation in the presence or absence of a PCGS as well as the variability in the intralimbic sulcus (ILS) are associated with oro-facial motor control, handedness for manual gestures, and sex in a sample of MRI scans obtained in 225 chimpanzees. Additionally, we quantified the depth of the cingulate sulcus (CGS) along the anterior-posterior axis and tested for association with oro-facial motor control, handedness, and sex. Chimpanzees with better oro-facial motor control were more likely to have a PCGS, particularly in the left hemisphere compared to those with poorer control. Male chimpanzees with better oro-facial motor control showed increased leftward asymmetries in the depth of the anterior CGS, whereas female chimpanzees showed the opposite pattern.

Abdominal CT showed gastric perforation and we performed omental patch repair emergently. Postoperative upper gastrointestinal endoscope revealed an ulcerative lesion in the lesser curve of upper area of gastric body, which proved to be a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma by biopsy. Thus, we performed total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection. Resected specimen revealed type 2 gastric cancer in the perforated area. Pathological stage was pT3pN0M0, pStage ⅡA. Adjuvant chemotherapy by S-1 was performed and he is alive without tumor recurrence 12 months after the first operation. Case 2 A 71-year- old man was urgently admitted to our hospital because of upper abdominal pain after dinner. Abdominal CT suggested gastric perforation and we performed emergent laparoscopic operation. Perforated lesion about 8 mm in diameter was found in the anterior wall of gastric body. After debridement, perforated lesion was closed with a running suture and additionally omental patch repair was performed. Intra- abdominal desmoid tumor is rare at about 8%. We experienced a case of intra-abdominal desmoid tumors occurring 4 years after open radical prostatectomy with some literature review. A 72-year-old man had undergone open radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. Four years after that resection, multiple intra-abdominal tumors measuring 56 mm in maximum diameter was identified on follow-up computed tomography, and he was referred to our department for management. We performed laparotomy and investigation of the biopsy. Immunohistochemistry of the resected specimen indicated the tumor cells were positive for vimentin and β-catenin, and the diagnosis was desmoid. We performed partial resection of the small intestine and ileocecal resection. His postoperative course was uneventful and he was discharged on the 12th postoperative day. He has shown no sign of recurrence in the 4 months follow-up since surgery. In the past, an operation was the best treatment for intra-abdominal desmoid tumor. But it is reported that watchful waiting is also possible by the case which has no symptom and dysfunction in NCCN guidelines 2019. Further research is needed.We hereby report a case of advanced and recurrent colon cancer with long-term survival after 7 repeated surgical resections. A 73-year-old woman initially underwent right hemicolectomy and partial hepatectomy for an ascending colon cancer with synchronous liver metastasis. Pathological diagnosis of the tumors were moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma and metastasis to the liver compatibly. Final clinical stage was diagnosed as fT3N2M1(H1), fStage Ⅳ. But she was interrupted oxaliplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy after 6 courses of CAPOX because of adverse drug reaction. One year after first operation, partial resection of right lung was performed for lung metastasis. Two years after first operation, 2nd resection of liver was performed for 2 liver metastatic lesions. Three years after first operation, 3rd partial liver resection, 2nd and 3rd partial lung resections were performed for metachronous metastases during 1 year. After 3 years recurrence free period, she complained of an induration of right neck and diagnosed as neck and supra clavicular lymph nodes metastases. Lymph nodes resection was performed. After the last operation, she has no sign of cancer recurrence for 1 year and 7 months, eventually she has been alive for 7 years and 7 months after the initial operation.A 79-year-old man was diagnosed with transverse colon cancer who had a history of distal gastrectomy and antecolic Billroth Ⅱ(B-Ⅱ)reconstruction for duodenal ulcer. We performed laparoscopic right hemicolectomy. Surgical findings indicated that the tumor was located in the center of the transverse colon. After we performed mobilization of right colon and lymph node dissection, we performed mobilization of left colon and we peeled off those adhesions with the jejunal limb and transverse colon mesentery. Then, we resected transverse colon and removed right hemicolon. We reconstructed a functional end-to-end anastomosis on the ventral side of the jejunal limb. The patient was discharged without complications on the 10th postoperative day. In post B-Ⅱ reconstruction cases, we can perform laparoscopic colectomy safely with preoperative CT confirmation and adequate colon mobilization.

  • A number of urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma (UB UC) mRNA-based classification systems have been reported. It also has been observed that treatment response and prognosis are different for each molecular subtype. In this study, cytokeratin (CK)5/6 and CK20 immunohistochemistry (IHC) were performed, and IHC-based subgroup classification was applied. UB UC was classified into CK5/6 single-positive (SP), CK20 SP, double-positive (DP) and double-negative (DN) subgroups, and transcriptional analysis was performed. The results of gene ontology (GO) terms and functional analysis using differentially expressed genes indicate that, CK5/6 SP and DP subgroups were enriched in cell migration, immune activation, interleukin 6-Janus kinase-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (IL6-JAK-STAT3) signaling pathway and tumor necrosis factor-α signaling via the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway signature gene. Men and women with cardiovascular diseases showed high risks of stress, depression, and suicidal ideation. Men with metabolic diseases had worse mental health in relation to depression and suicidal ideation, and women with metabolic diseases in relation to stress and depression, indicating a need for intervention and management of mental health by gender for these individuals. There is a need to develop a clear perception and understanding, both among practitioners and the general population, of mental health issues associated with having cardiovascular or metabolic diseases. Active, specific health improvement and training programmes considering gender differences are necessary.Although there have been many advances in recent years for the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), it still remains the third most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. More recent studies are turning towards developing an effective 3D model of CRC that is clinically relevant, that can recapitulate the TME in vitro and bridge the gap between 2D cultures and in vivo studies, with the aim of reducing the use of animal models in the future. This review summarises the advantages and limitations of different 3D CRC models. It emphasizes how different 3D models may be optimised to study cellular and extracellular interactions that take place in the TME of CRC in an effort to allow the development of more translatable effective treatment options for patients.Thanatosis, also called death feigning, is often an antipredator behavior. Thanatosis was more frequent in 0-d-old individuals and in females at 18 °C. The duration of thanatosis was longer in females, but this effect of sex was weaker at 18 °C and in 0-d-old individuals. The background color affected neither the frequency nor duration. Our study aims to bring together all the results of the previous studies, conducted in order to highlight the potency of bioactive molecules from seaweeds, as anti-HPV and anti-cervical agents. This paper is a review of the English literature published between January 2010 and August 2020. We performed a systematic study in the Google Academic and PubMed databases using the key words "HPV infection", "anticancer", "seaweeds", "cervical cancer" and "carcinogenesis process", aiming to evaluate the effects of different bioactive molecules from marine algae on cervical cancer cell lines and on HPV-infected cells.
