This study aimed to assess how mothers' psychopathological risk and toddler's dysregulation profile are associated with mother-toddler interactional quality during feeding, with particular attention to mothers' sensitivity to child's specific cues (e.g. need of autonomy, requests for cooperation, request to stop the interaction, etc.). One hundred fifty mothensitivity to child's cues of wanting to interrupt interactions and with worse mother's mood. Assessing maternal sensitivity in relation to toddler's specific cues might be particularly relevant in the feeding context. This study examined whether interpersonal problems positively related to ED symptoms via negative affect and 'feeling fat' in 190 undergraduate women (mean age [SD] = 19.05 [1.23]; mean BMI [SD] = 21.76 [3.17]; 72.8% Caucasian). Using both cross-sectional and longitudinal path analyses, we tested the indirect effects of ostracism and peer victimization on binge eating and restricting via negative affect and 'feeling fat' using serial indirect effects analyses. Cross-sectional path analysis revealed significant indirect effects of ostracism on both binge eating and restricting sequentially via negative affect and 'feeling fat', such that ostracism related to negative affect, which related to 'feeling fat', which was ultimately associated with disordered eating behaviours. Longitudinal path analysis replicated the significant indirect effects of ostracism on binge eating sequentially via negative affect and 'feeling fat'. Results suggest that individuals may displace negative feelings that result from ostracism onto their body, triggering 'feelings of fatness' and prompting ED symptoms. Future research should examine 'feeling fat' within the IPT-ED in a sample of individuals with EDs to determine its clinical utility beyond an undergraduate sample.Maternal-fetal immune dysregulation is one of the risk factors that increases the probability of embryo rejection and reproductive failure. Contemporary tools can therefore be leveraged to target and study such cell-types and elucidate their precise functional role. In this review, we discuss the different subsets of neurons found in the BNST, their anatomical distribution, and what is currently known about BNST cell-types in regulating motivated behaviors.

  • Thermal properties corroborated the changes by showing increases in peak gelatinization temperature (Tp) and enthalpy energy (ΔH) in BLGSs. The paste viscosity of BLGSs (5% w/w) decreased by 20-58% from that of FLGS. The FTIR peak ratio at 1045/1022 and 1022/995 cm-1 also indicated an increase in ordered structure in BLGSs compared to FLGS. The significant increase in the amounts of slowly digestible starch (SDS) and resistant starch (RS) in BLGSs compared to FLGS, especially at a prolonged incubation time of 20 (4.2×) and 30 days (4.1×), was proposed to be due to the heat-induced formation of starch inclusion with other components inside the seed during the black longan production process. Thus, black longan seed could be a new source of starch, with increased RS content, for potential use in the food and related industries.NIS is a potent iodide transporter encoded by the SLC5A5 gene. Its expression is reduced in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). In this study we analyzed the impact of miR-181a-5p on NIS expression in the context of PTC. We used real-time PCR to analyze the expression of SLC5A5 and miR-181a-5p in 49 PTC/normal tissue pairs. Luciferase assays and mutagenesis were performed to confirm direct binding of miR-181a-5p to the 3'UTR of SLC5A5 and identify the binding site. The impact of modulation of miR-181a-5p using appropriate plasmids on endogenous NIS and radioactive iodine accumulation was verified. We confirmed downregulation of SLC5A5 and concomitant upregulation of miR-181a-5p in PTC. Broadly used algorithms did not predict the binding site of miR-181a-5p in 3'UTR of SLC5A5, but we identified and confirmed the binding site through mutagenesis using luciferase assays. In MCF7 and HEK293-flhNIS cell lines, transfection with mir-181a-expressing plasmid decreased endogenous SLC5A5, whereas silencing of miR-181a-5p increased it. We observed similar tendencies in protein expression and radioactive iodine accumulation. To make primary care for these patients more patient centered, insight on healthcare professionals' perceived PCC implementation barriers is needed. In this study, healthcare professionals' perceived barriers to primary PCC delivery to patients with multimorbidity were investigated using a constructivist qualitative design based on semi-structured interviews with nine general and nurse practitioners from seven general practices in the Netherlands. Purposive sampling was used, and the interview content was analyzed to generate themes representing experienced barriers. Barriers were identified in all eight PCC dimensions (patient preferences, information and education, access to care, physical comfort, emotional support, family and friends, continuity and transition, and coordination of care). They include difficulties achieving mutual understanding between patients and healthcare professionals, professionals' lack of training and education in new skills, data protection laws that impede adequate documentation and information sharing, time pressure, and conflicting financial incentives. These barriers pose true challenges to effective, sustainable PCC implementation at the patient, organizational, and national levels. Further improvement of primary care delivery to patients with multimorbidity is needed to overcome these barriers.In obese patients, enhanced serum levels of free fatty acids (FFA), such as palmitate (PA) or oleate (OA), are associated with an increase in systemic inflammatory markers. Bacterial infection during periodontal disease also promotes local and systemic low-grade inflammation. How both conditions concomitantly impact tooth movement is largely unknown. Thus, the aim of this study was to address the changes in cytokine expression and the secretion of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (HPdLF) due to hyperlipidemic conditions, when additionally stressed by bacterial and mechanical stimuli. To investigate the impact of obesity-related hyperlipidemic FFA levels on HPdLF, cells were treated with 200 µM PA or OA prior to the application of 2 g/cm2 compressive force. To further determine the additive impact of bacterial infection, HPdLF were stimulated with lipopolysaccharides (LPS) obtained from Porphyromonas gingivalis. In mechanically compressed HPdLF, PA enhanced COX2 expression and PGE2 secretion. When mechanically stressed HPdLF were additionally stimulated with LPS, the PGE2 and IL6 secretion, as well as monocyte adhesion, were further increased in PA-treated cultures. Our data emphasize that a hyperlipidemic condition enhances the susceptibility of HPdLF to an excessive inflammatory response to compressive forces, when cells are concomitantly exposed to bacterial components.To encapsulate soluble iron, liposomes were prepared using unsaturated phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine from egg yolk), leading to high encapsulation efficiencies (82-99%). The iron concentration affected their oxidative stability at 0.2 and 1 mM ferrous sulfate, the liposomes were stable, whereas at higher concentrations (10 and 48 mM), phospholipid oxidation was considerably higher. When applied in oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions, emulsions with liposomes containing low iron concentrations were **** more stable to lipid oxidation than those added with liposomes containing higher iron concentrations, even though the overall iron concentration was similar (0.1 M). Iron-loaded liposomes thus have an antioxidant effect at high phospholipid-to-iron ratio, but act as pro-oxidants when this ratio is too low, most likely as a result of oxidation of the phospholipids themselves.   • Human serum transferrin (HST) is a glycoprotein involved in iron transport that may be a candidate for functionalized nanoparticles to bind and target cancer cells. In this study, the effects of the simple and doped with cobalt (Co) and copper (Cu) ferrihydrite nanoparticles (Fh-NPs, Cu-Fh-NPs, and Co-Fh-NPs) were studied by spectroscopic and molecular approaches. Fluorescence spectroscopy revealed a static quenching mechanism for all three types of Fh-NPs. All Fh-NPs interacted with HST with low affinity, and the binding was driven by hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces for simple Fh-NPs and by hydrophobic interactions for Cu-Fh-NPs and Co-Fh-NPs binding, respectively. Of all samples, simple Fh-NPs bound the most to the HST binding site. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) allowed the efficient determination of the energy transfer between HST and NPs and the distance at which the transfer takes place and confirmed the mechanism of quenching. The denaturation of the HST is an endothermic process, both in the case of apo HST and HST in the presence of the three types of Fh-NPs. Molecular docking studies revealed that Fh binds with a low affinity to HST (Ka = 9.17 × 103 M-1) in accord with the fluorescence results, where the interaction between simple Fh-NPs and HST was described by a binding constant of 9.54 × 103 M-1.The subject of the research was the production of silsesquioxane modified rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams (POSS-Cl) with chlorine functional groups (chlorobenzyl, chloropropyl, chlorobenzylethyl) characterized by reduced flammability. The foams were prepared in a one-step additive polymerization reaction of isocyanates with polyols, and the POSS modifier was added to the reaction system in an amount of 2 wt.% polyol. The influence of POSS was analyzed by performing a series of tests, such as determination of the kinetics of foam growth, determination of apparent density, and structure analysis. Compressive strength, three-point bending strength, hardness, and shape stability at reduced and elevated temperatures were tested, and the hydrophobicity of the surface was determined. The most important measurement was the determination of the thermal stability (TGA) and the flammability of the modified systems using a cone calorimeter. The obtained results, after comparing with the results for unmodified foam, showed a large influence of POSS modifiers on the functional properties, especially thermal and fire-retardant, of the obtained PUR-POSS-Cl systems.Cancer is one of the most common causes of death worldwide.     Human serum transferrin (HST) is a glycoprotein involved in iron transport that may be a candidate for functionalized nanoparticles to bind and target cancer cells. In this study, the effects of the simple and doped with cobalt (Co) and copper (Cu) ferrihydrite nanoparticles (Fh-NPs, Cu-Fh-NPs, and Co-Fh-NPs) were studied by spectroscopic and molecular approaches. Fluorescence spectroscopy revealed a static quenching mechanism for all three types of Fh-NPs. All Fh-NPs interacted with HST with low affinity, and the binding was driven by hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces for simple Fh-NPs and by hydrophobic interactions for Cu-Fh-NPs and Co-Fh-NPs binding, respectively. Of all samples, simple Fh-NPs bound the most to the HST binding site. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) allowed the efficient determination of the energy transfer between HST and NPs and the distance at which the transfer takes place and confirmed the mechanism of quenching.   • Juçara (Euterpe edulis) is a native Brazilian palm tree from the Atlantic Forest, whose fruit-processing waste can present high concentration of antioxidant compounds. This research was assessed to determine the antioxidant potential of juçara waste extracts aiming to reduce the lipid and protein oxidation processes on conventional and antibiotic-free broiler meat throughout 9 d during refrigerated storage. The juçara waste extracts were obtained by microwave-assisted extraction. Two different extracts were tested based on the optimum point obtained when checking total phenolic (TPC) contents (Extract P) and antioxidant activity (Extract A) based on a previous study. The treatments using conventional and antibiotic-free broiler meat included chicken patties without antioxidant addition (AFBNC and CBNC), with synthetic antioxidant (BHT) (AFBPC and CBPC), with Extract P (AFBEP and CBEP) and with Extract A (AFBEA and CBEA), totaling 8 treatments. Antioxidant activity of extracts along with TPC, flavonoid, anthocyanin, and tannin contents of extracts and patties were assessed. Proximate composition, fatty acid profile, lipid and protein oxidation process, and instrumental color were analyzed in patty treatments. Although both extracts had similar content of TPC and tannin, extract A presented the highest anthocyanin, while extract P exhibited the highest flavonoid.   • Implicit and explicit self-identification as a drug user specific to the substance used (e.g., viewing oneself as a drinker) have been examined, as they relate to that drug use. However, studies have rarely explored whether identifying as a "drug user" differs implicitly and explicitly for people who use different drugs and how this identification relates to drug-use behaviors or abstinence. This study examined implicit and explicit self-identification as a "drug user" and their associations with drug-use behaviors and abstinence in people who used heroin (PWUH) and people who used methamphetamine (PWUM). Forty PWUH and 35 PWUM in a rehabilitation facility completed the single category implicit association test (SC-IAT), which evaluated implicit associations of a "drug user" with "self," and a measure of explicit self-identification as a "drug user." Prior drug-use behaviors and current abstinence duration of the participants were assessed. PWUH demonstrated stronger implicit "self + drug user" associations and higher levels of explicit self-identification as a "drug user" than PWUM. A higher frequency of drug use was associated with higher levels of explicit drug-user self-identity, and longer abstinence duration was positively related to stronger implicit "self + drug user" associations in PWUH. The drug type of heroin (vs. methamphetamine) participants used was associated with a higher frequency of use, which, in turn, predicted higher levels of explicit drug-user self-identity. Using the data of 109 employees for 10 consecutive working days as samples, we employed the PROCESS macro and MPLUS to examine our hypotheses. The results indicated that coworker incivility experience was positively related to the state guilt of employees only when they were high in internal attribution orientation rather than low. State guilt, in turn, was positively related to their OCB. This study expands the research of emotional response to uncivilized experience and provides a new perspective to understand the relationship between workplace incivility and potential positive outcomes. The survey technique was used to collect the data from Chinese banking, insurance, medicine, and teaching service sector employees for the current study. The reliability and validity of the scale items were tested. This study used AMOS-SEM for data analysis and testing the developed hypotheses. The empirical results confirmed that responsible, inclusive, authentic, and supportive leadership styles positively impact employees' OCBE. The results further confirm that self-efficacy and psychological ownership act as mediators between leadership and OCBE. The current study widens our understanding of leadership styles and their impact on OCBE, along with limitations associated with the study and future guidelines for investigators.This study aims to identify the significance of age and employment to individual function during COVID-19. The results showed a positive relationship between the criticality of co-worker presenteeism events and innovative behavior. An indirect effect of promotion focus was also found in this relationship. The timing of co-worker presenteeism events moderated the relationship between the criticality of co-worker presenteeism events and promotion focus. Specifically, the effect was more significant when co-worker presenteeism events occurred during project delays.

  • OBJECTIVES This study was carried out to correlate chronological age of the patients with dental age using to Demirjian's method and to evaluate if orthopantamogram examination of third molar development correlates with age estimation. STUDY DESIGN The study was designed as a radiological cross sectional study. Simple random sampling method was used to obtain study subjects. METHODS Total of 231 patients between the age group of 10 to 25 years, visiting the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology were selected. The digital orthopantomogram was obtained for these patients. RESULTS Our data showed that, in the maxilla, the stages of tooth developments A to E were reached earlier in men than in women, whereas stages F to H were reached earlier in women than men. In mandible stages B, C, E to F were reached earlier in men than women, whereas stages A and D were reached earlier by the female counterparts. There was a statistically significant difference noted between right and left third molar teeth in all the stages of tooth development. CONCLUSIONS Our study showed that between the sexes in maxilla, men reached stages A to E earlier than women, whereas for stages F to H, women reached the stage earlier than men. For mandible, all stages except stage D were reached earlier by male subjects than female subjects. Our study showed that the third molar development can be affected positively by the chronological age of the patient, being developed either in maxilla or mandible, right or left side.Diagnosis of first-trimester partial mole is challenging as the key morphologic features may not be well-developed and may overlap with those of a nonmolar gestation harboring a cytogenetic disorder or degenerative changes. Genotype testing has emerged as the reference tool to distinguish partial mole (diandric triploid genotype) from its nonmolar mimics. However, observer variation in defining the minimum threshold of how **** morphologic alteration is required to trigger genotype testing may result in a subset of partial moles that go undetected. We hypothesized that the results of fetal aneuploidy testing performed for prenatal screening or evaluation of miscarriage may assist with triggering molecular testing in the evaluation of products of conception, specifically if fetal triploidy is detected. Gestations with fetal triploidy are either a partial mole (diandric triploidy) or are nonmolar (digynic triploidy). The aims of this study were to define the prevalence of partial mole in 20 products of conceptillous morphologic alterations. We conclude that, given the high prevalence of partial mole among products of conception with known fetal triploidy and the low prevalence of diagnostic morphologic findings in such specimens, reflex genotype testing should be performed in all such cases, regardless of whether or not the morphologic features are suspicious for a partial mole. This reflex testing strategy mitigates against the subjectivity of determining whether subtle villous abnormalities are significant enough to merit pursuing genotype testing. The success of this strategy depends on the clinician documenting the fetal triploidy result at the time of submitting the products of conception specimen and therefore clinician education is needed. Finally, it remains to be determined whether the risk for postmolar gestational trophoblastic disease is the same in diandric triploid gestations that exhibit classic morphologic features as in those that exhibit minimal or negligible villous morphologic abnormalities.Malignant mesothelioma can be difficult to distinguish from other malignancies, particularly non-small cell lung carcinomas (NSCLCs), without immunohistochemistry. However, conventional markers of mesothelial lineage all have variable degrees of cross-reactivity with other neoplasms, including NSCLCs, necessitating the use of multiple mesothelioma and carcinoma markers in every case for accurate diagnosis. A recently described monoclonal HEG homolog 1 (HEG1) antibody was proposed to be a specific marker for mesothelioma. Here we performed a large scale assessment of the SKM9-2 HEG1 antibody using tissue microarrays containing 69 epithelioid mesotheliomas, 32 sarcomatoid mesotheliomas, 167 NSCLCs, and 17 ovarian high-grade serous carcinomas. Strong membrane staining, usually diffuse, for HEG1 was seen in 65/69 (94%) epithelioid mesotheliomas, 0/60 pulmonary squamous cell carcinomas, 0/73 pulmonary adenocarcinomas, and 0/13 pulmonary large cell carcinomas. HEG1 showed staining in 14/32 (44%) sarcomatoid mesotheliomas compared with 0/21 sarcomatoid pulmonary carcinomas. Three of 17 (18%) high-grade serous carcinomas demonstrated membrane staining. Ten B3 thymoma whole sections were negative. On the microarrays, the conventional mesothelial markers calretinin, WT1, D2-40, and CK5/6 had sensitivities for epithelioid mesothelioma of 94%, 90%, 96%, and 91%, respectively. We conclude that HEG1 SKM9-2 antibody offers sensitivity comparable to conventional markers for epithelioid mesotheliomas, but provides considerably better specificity, such that the diagnosis of epithelioid mesothelioma versus NSCLC potentially could be confirmed with a combination of HEG1 and a suitable broad spectrum carcinoma marker such as claudin-4. On the microarrays, the conventional mesothelial markers calretinin, WT1, D2-40, and CK5/6 had sensitivities for epithelioid mesothelioma of 94%, 90%, 96%, and 91%, respectively. During this virtual placement, students were able to explore and experience a virtual clinical setting and immerse themselves in a placement experience.     To assess the level of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) 1 month after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery among Jordanian patients, and to examine the predictors of PTSD after 1 month.

    A descriptive survey design was used.

    The extension of roles within the primary care team is one approach recommended to address the shortage of GPs in the UK. A key aspect of care that advanced nurse practitioners (ANPs) can undertake is acute home visits.

    To evaluate the perspectives of ANPs performing acute in-hours home visits in primary care.

    Qualitative data were gathered in eight semi-structured interviews across a primary care locality, then analysed via a process of thematic analysis.

    Three key themes were identified providing holistic care; engaging with the home setting; and negotiating role ambiguity.

    Practices wishing to involve ANPs in acute home visits should ensure clear definition and good understanding of the ANP role. Effective interprofessional relationships should be fostered with appropriate mentorship and clinical supervision to support ANPs in optimising their contribution to acute home visits.

This article provides an overview of the different surgical presentations encountered in children, and outlines the most important points in the history, examination and management of such cases, whether encountered in the emergency setting or in the community. Two illustrative case studies have been included to demonstrate how these emergencies may present in clinical practice.

  • Single-molecule fluorescence resonance energy transfer (smFRET) experiments permit detailed examination of microscopic dynamics. However, kinetic rate constants determined by smFRET are susceptible to systematic underestimation when the rate constants are comparable to the data acquisition rate. We demonstrate how such systematic errors in camera-based total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy experiments can be greatly reduced by using stroboscopic illumination/detection, allowing accurate rate constant determination up to the data sampling rate and yielding an order of magnitude increase in the dynamic range. Implementation of these stroboscopic smFRET ideas is straightforward, and the stroboscopically obtained data are compatible with multiple trajectory analysis methods, including dwell-time analysis and hidden Markov modeling. Such stroboscopic methods therefore offer a remarkably simple yet valuable addition to the smFRET toolkit, requiring only relatively modest modification to the normal data collection and analysis procedures.A new long-lived, visible-light-absorbing homoleptic Cu(I) metal-to-ligand charge transfer (****) photosensitizer, [Cu(dchtmp)2]PF6 (dchtmp = 2,9-dicyclohexyl-3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline), has been synthesized, structurally characterized, and evaluated in terms of its molecular photophysics, electrochemistry, and electronic structure. Static and time-resolved transient absorption (TA) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy measured on the title compound in CH2Cl2 (τ = 2.6 μs, ΦPL = 5.5%), CH3CN (τ = 1.5 μs, ΦPL = 2.6%), and THF (τ = 2.0 μs, ΦPL = 3.7%) yielded impressive photophysical metrics even when dissolved in Lewis basic solvents. Although we successfully prepared the cyclopentyl analog dcptmp (2,9-dicyclopentyl-3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) using the same C-C radical coupling photochemistry as dchtmp, the corresponding Cu(I) complex could not be isolated due to the steric hindrance presented at the metal center.
