The presence of a relationship between quantitative variables was assessed with the Pearson's correlation coefficient and the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient.Results For patients with MI, mean GDF-15 concentration was 2.25±1.0 ng/ml. Moderate correlations were found for GDF-15 and levels of natriuretic peptide (r=0.36, p<0.01), white blood cells (r=0.32, p<0.01), and ejection fraction (Simpson rule) (r=-0.32, p<0.01); weak correlations were found with levels of troponin I (r=0.21, p=0.02) and urea (r=0.20, p=0.04), and interventricular septal thickness by echocardiography (r= -0.26, p<0.01).     Coronary cameral fistula (CCF), a rare abnormal coronary communication to cardiac chambers, may lead to coronary steal phenomenon and increase cardiac overload. We investigated the clinical and cardiovascular characteristics in children before and after transcatheter closure.

    We retrospectively reviewed pediatric patients with CCFs diagnosed by echocardiography in a tertiary medical center between 1998 and 2019. Basic information, echocardiogram, catheterization and interventional procedures were obtained from medical charts.

    A total of 12 pediatric subjects were included. The median ages at diagnosis and catheterization were 0.2 and 2.8 years, respectively. All CCFs were unilateral and single with varying degrees of coronary artery dilatation and aneurysm formation and diagnosed by echocardiography. The median follow-up periods before and after catheterization were 2.5 and 7.3 years, respectively. Seven of the CCFs originated from the left side. The drainage sites were all right hearts. Before catheterization, the median size of the proximal end of the fistula was 3.1 mm, concomitant with enlargement of conduit coronary arteries. Eleven of the 12 patients underwent transcatheter closure using coils in six and vascular plugs in five. Only one patient had a significant increase in pulmonary-to-systemic flow ratio. The size of conduit coronary artery gradually decreased and the size of ipsilateral coronary branch increased after closure.

    The objective of this study was to accurately reconstruct a full 12-lead ECG from a reduced lead set.

    Five-electrode placement was used to generate leads I, II, III, aVL, aVR, aVF and V2. These seven leads served as inputs to the focus time-delay neural network (FTDNN) which derived the remaining five precordial leads (V1, V3-V6). An online archived medical database containing 549 cases of ECG recordings was used to train, validate and test the FTDNN.

    After removing outliers, the reconstructed leads exhibited correlation values of between 0.8609 and 0.9678 as well as low root mean square error values of between 123 μV and 245 μV across all cases, for both healthy controls and cardiovascular disease subgroups except the bundle branch block disease subgroup. The results of the FTDNN method compared favourably to those of prior lead reconstruction methods.

    There is still no consensus on the treatment of patients with connective tissue disease (CTD) with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis (AS). The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in patients with CTD.

    Five hundred and fifty consecutive symptomatic severe AS patients who underwent TAVI between 2011 and 2019 were included in this retrospective study, of whom 14 had CTD. Follow-up was performed 30 days, 6 months, and 1 year after the procedure.

    Of the 14 (2.5%) patients who had CTD, most had rheumatoid arthritis (n = 10), followed by lupus erythematosus (n = 2), scleroderma (n = 1) and mixed (n = 1) CTD. The mean age was 77.6 ± 7.9 years, and there was no statistical difference between the CTD and no-CTD groups. In addition, significantly more of the CTD patients (85.7%) were female compared to the no-CTD group (p = 0.018). None of the patients in the CTD group had acute kidney injury, stroke, major bleeding, or pericardial effusion. However, significantly more patients in the CTD group (n = 4) needed permanent pacemaker implantation than in the no-CTD group (p = 0.008). There were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of mean discharge time (CTD 4.6 ± 2.0, no-CTD 4.5 ± 2.3 days, p = 0.926) and in-hospital mortality [CTD 1 (7.1%), no-CTD 21 (3.9%); p = 0.542].

Solutions of relaxing the CI assumption and accounting for zero-inflation, as well as collecting partial gold standard information, have been proposed, offering the potential for more robust model estimates. In the current article, we examined such approaches in the context of schistosomiasis via analysis of two real datasets and extensive simulation studies. A total of 646 women were included in this study; 46.6% were overweight/generally obese, and 48% had abdominal obesity. Postmenopausal women had a higher prevalence of general and central obesity. Regular physical activity decreased the risk for overweight/general obesity and abdominal obesity (OR = .41 and .31, respectively, p = .04) in premenopausal women. Postmenopausal women who had not breastfed their infants and reported moderate/high-stress had a higher risk for overweight/general obesity (OR = 3.93, and 2, respectively) and those who reported less than 6 hours of sleep per day increased their risk for abdominal obesity (OR = 2.08). Different factors associated with obesity were found in Chinese women, depending on menopausal status.     There were higher density and longer trichomes on stems, which likely resulted in aphids taking a longer time to probe. Still a negative impact on aphid population growth was not observed. Analysis of phloem sap composition revealed that vascular sap-enriched exudates from stems had higher sugars and amino acids than exudates from leaves. In artificial diet feeding assays, the population of aphids reared on a diet supplemented with stem exudates was higher than on a diet supplemented with leaf petiole exudates which is in agreement with results of the whole-plant assays. Here, we present the first metabolomic characterisation of the MeLiM model comparing animals with progressing and spontaneously regressing melanomas. Plasma samples of 19 minipigs with progression and 27 minipigs with evidence of regression were analysed by a targeted metabolomic assay based on mass spectrometry detection. Differences in plasma metabolomics patterns were investigated by univariate and multivariate statistical analyses. Overall, 185 metabolites were quantified in each plasma sample. Significantly altered metabolomic profile was found, and 42 features were differentially regulated in plasma. Besides, the machine learning approach was used to create a predictive model utilising Arg/Orn and Arg/ADMA ratios to discriminate minipigs with progressive disease development from minipigs with regression evidence. Our results suggest that progression of melanoma in the MeLiM model is associated with alteration of arginine, glycerophospholipid and acylcarnitines metabolism. Immunohistochemical staining of LOXL3 in a tissue microarray of 373 biopsies at different melanocytic stages was conducted. The correlation between LOXL3 expression and patient survival was examined using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were conducted to study the hazard ratios. The tissue microarray study revealed that stronger expression of LOXL3 protein was found at more advanced melanocytic stages (P  less then  0.0001; χ2 test). Increased LOXL3 expression was associated with enhanced tumor thickness and mitosis. Survival analysis showed significantly worsened prognosis in primary melanoma patients when the LOXL3 expression level was higher (P = 0.043; log-rank test). Multivariate Cox regression analysis further showed that LOXL3 expression is a prognostic factor for primary melanoma patient survival (P = 0.04). LOXL3 expression is positively correlated with tumor progression and invasion, and its overexpression is associated with worse prognosis of primary melanoma patients. Hemostatic therapy followed by radiosynovectomy of the right ankle joint and introduction of secondary preventive treatment with recombinant factor VIIa proved to be efficacious and safe.A 6-week-old female presented with gross hematuria and was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma of the bladder through ultrasound and cystoscopic biopsies, along with a negative metastatic workup. After completing chemotherapy, the patient has been doing well with no evidence of disease. There have been 14 other cases, 4 pediatric, of Ewing sarcoma of the bladder reported. The cohort included 5247 children with SCA, of whom 5116 were eligible for TCD implementation assessment for at least 1 study year. The majority of children were African American or Black, non-Hispanic and received Medicaid. Mean age at first recorded TCD was 5.9 and 10.5 years at study end. Observed TCD screening rates were unsatisfactory across geographic regions (mean 49.9%; range 30.9% to 74.7%) independent of size, institution type, or previous stroke prevention trial participation.

    A chronic leg ulcer (CLU) is a significant public health problem. It has various etiologies. Racial, familial, occupational, and social factors may also have an impact on the prevalence of different causes of leg ulcers. Though there are western data on the epidemiology of leg ulcer, similar data are largely unavailable from our part of the world.

    We undertook a study in a tertiary care center in eastern India to determine the clinical and etiological pattern of patients with CLU.

    Hundred consecutive patients presenting with CLU, fulfilling the criteria, were included after informed consent. Patients were subjected to proper history taking, clinical examination, routine blood test, and pus for culture and sensitivity test (where needed) along with Ankle Brachial Index (ABI).

    Among the 100 patients, venous ulcer (34%) was predominant followed by arterial ulcer (14%), mixed arterial and venous ulcer (11%). History of smoking (56%) and obesity (BMI >25) (32%) were the common risk factors in leg ulcer patients. Fifty nine percent of the total CLU were infected and out of this, 86.4% showed growth of microorganisms.

    Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is an underestimated public health problem involving the lower limbs. It exerts a significant impact on patient's quality of life (QoL). The severity of the disease was measured by venous clinical severity score (VCSS) and venous disability score (VDS).

    The aim of the study was to evaluate VCSS, VDS, and dermatology life quality index (DLQI) among the patients of CVI and to evaluate the correlation among DLQI with VCSS, VDS, and leg ulcer.

    In this institution-based cross-sectional study, clinically and sonographically confirmed cases of CVI were included. Clinical severity of the disease and disability were assessed by using VCSS and VDS, respectively. QoL was assessed by a validated DLQI questionnaire. Correlation between DLQI with VCSS and VDS was analyzed. The association between DLQI with different characteristics of the ulcer was also evaluated.

    Mean VCSS, VDS, and DLQI in the study population were 11 ± 4.96, 1.47 ± 0.67, and 6.94 ± 3.87, respectively.     We aimed to study the clinical, epidemiological, and dermoscopic profile of children presenting with alopecia, and assess the responsiveness to different treatment modalities in a real-life setting.

    This cohort study involved analyzing children presenting with hair loss during the study period. After a detailed history, clinical, and trichoscopic examination, treatment offered to patients and follow-up response to treatment along with relapse of symptoms were noted.

    Around 119 children were included. Nearly 90% were of acquired etiology. The most common cause of alopecia was alopecia areata (AA) in 85 (71%) patients followed by tinea capitis 9 (7.5%), lichen planopilaris 4 (3.3%), and other less common causes. In patients of AA, dermoscopy showed the presence of black dots in 68% cases, exclamation mark hair in 54% of patients followed by off-white dots, yellow dots, and vellus hair. Patients with an acute course and black dots on dermoscopy responded better to treatment. Relapse was common in patients with early age of onset and longer disease duration.

Racial, familial, occupational, and social factors may also have an impact on the prevalence of different causes of leg ulcers. Though there are western data on the epidemiology of leg ulcer, similar data are largely unavailable from our part of the world. We undertook a study in a tertiary care center in eastern India to determine the clinical and etiological pattern of patients with CLU. Hundred consecutive patients presenting with CLU, fulfilling the criteria, were included after informed consent. Patients were subjected to proper history taking, clinical examination, routine blood test, and pus for culture and sensitivity test (where needed) along with Ankle Brachial Index (ABI). The chemosensor shows exclusively "off-on" fluorescence response toward F- at 620 nm in HEPES (pH 7.4) DMSO solution (73, v/v), which is attributed to the specific cleavage of Si-O bond. The ultrasensitive detection limit for F- in the fluorescence measurement is down to 30 nM. We investigated the safety and efficacy of rescue intracranial angioplasty and/or stenting for emergent large artery occlusion (LAO) with underlying ICAS.

    We searched for relevant full-text articles in EMBASE, PubMed and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception to March 1, 2020. We calculated the odds ratios (ORs) using random-effects models for symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), mortality, recanalization rate and favorable clinical outcome at 90 days between ICAS-O group treated by rescue therapy and Non ICAS-O group. RStudio software 1.3.959 was used to perform this meta-analysis.

    Ten studies were included with a total of 1639 patients, of which 450 (27.5 %) were in the ICAS-O group treated with intracranial angioplasty and/or stenting, and 1189 (72.5 %) were in the Non ICAS-O group. Overall, intracranial angioplasty and/or stenting did not improve the recanalization rate (OR, 0.67 [0.26-1.76]; p = 0.419) or favorable functional outcome (OR, 1.01 [0.64-1.58]; p = 0.97) in patients with underlying ICAS-O, and the risk of sICH (OR, 0.99 [0.59-1.68]; p = 0.983) and mortality (OR, 1.26 [0.87-1.83]; p = 0.225) did not significantly differ between ICAS-O and Non ICAS-O.

ET was significantly associated with fewer days in the hospital (weighted mean difference -7.73 [95 % CI -8.59-6.86], p less then 0.001) and reduced cases of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) (risk difference 0.71 [95 % CI 0.62-0.81], p less then 0.001). There were no between-group statistical differences in intensive care unit stay duration, mechanical ventilation duration, or mortality. In the present results, after continuous and interval exercise periods, locomotor activity, the number of entries and time spent in the open arms were increased, and immobility time was significantly reduced. This study assessed musculoskeletal complaints (****) in administrative workers, associating **** with non-paid housework, home use of electronic devices and physical exercise, while keeping a distinctive gender approach. This may promote the development of more effective preventive measures, by meeting the specific strengths and weaknesses of each gender. Methods. Ninety-six administrative workers (58 women and 38 men) who used computers more than 50% of their working time participated in a cross-sectional study. A questionnaire concerning individual socio-demographic data, habits and lifestyle, and including the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (NMQ), was deployed. Gender-based odds ratios for **** in body areas over the previous 12 months and correlation coefficients between habits and lifestyle variables and NMQ variables were computed. Results. Women did not incur a higher risk of **** than men. Analysis of the association did not yield meaningful associations for either gender. Self-reported fatigue was quantified using the Fatigue Scales for Motor and Cognitive Functions. As reach conditions became more difficult, perceived effort increased significantly. Further, individuals who reported greater fatigue also reported greater perceived effort and showed greater endpoint error during reaching.Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a complex trauma with devastating long-term, negative effects on survivors. This study extended the understanding of experiences of women survivors of CSA in relation to nonsupportive significant adults documented in literature, as to date, there exists no summary in literature on this particular topic. As such, a scoping review was conducted on publications between 1980 and January 2020. A total of 26 733 were selected for analysis in accordance with the search terms. After duplicates were removed and the exclusion criteria were applied, a total of 58 articles were selected for inclusion in the review. Thematic analysis was conducted on the studies included, and three themes were developed pertaining to the experiences of women survivors of CSA in relation to nonsupportive significant adults. Theme 1 identified nonsupportive behaviors experienced before disclosure or discovery of abuse. Theme 2 identified nonsupportive behaviors experienced during or after disclosure or discovery of abuse. Theme 3 identified the long-term negative consequences of nonsupportive experiences. These three themes support the findings of Freyd's betrayal trauma theory and Bowlby's attachment theory, extend on the global knowledge base of this topic, and identify gaps for further exploration.
    Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are a series of perioperative interventions well-established in improving the care and outcomes of patients. With recent emergence of studies on its implementation in cardiac surgery, this paper represents the first systematic review on current evidence of ERAS efficacy in this field.

    Two reviewers independently searched through Pubmed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Embase and Scopus. Comparative studies with controls that described the implementation of ERAS in all types of cardiac operations from 2001 to 2020 were included. Data extracted included patient demographics, components of ERAS protocol described, types of cardiac surgery, and postoperative outcomes.

    In the final analysis, nine studies were included, of which there were one randomized controlled trial (RCT), one quasi-experiment and seven retrospective/prospective studies.     Large slums in the developing world, therefore, contain the most vulnerable populations in an outbreak, and the continuing growth of metropolises in Asia and Africa presents significant challenges for future respiratory outbreaks from perspectives of public health and socioeconomic equity.Objectives. This study assessed musculoskeletal complaints (MSCs) in administrative workers, associating MSCs with non-paid housework, home use of electronic devices and physical exercise, while keeping a distinctive gender approach. This may promote the development of more effective preventive measures, by meeting the specific strengths and weaknesses of each gender. Methods. Ninety-six administrative workers (58 women and 38 men) who used computers more than 50% of their working time participated in a cross-sectional study. A questionnaire concerning individual socio-demographic data, habits and lifestyle, and including the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (NMQ), was deployed. Gender-based odds ratios for MSCs in body areas over the previous 12 months and correlation coefficients between habits and lifestyle variables and NMQ variables were computed. Results. Women did not incur a higher risk of MSCs than men. Analysis of the association did not yield meaningful associations for either gender. Results suggest giving future consideration to development of gender-specific preventive measures. Conclusion. Computerized work performed concomitantly with physical exposures outside the workplace showed mixed associations with MSCs, according to gender and depending on the kind of exposure. This study extended the understanding of experiences of women survivors of CSA in relation to nonsupportive significant adults documented in literature, as to date, there exists no summary in literature on this particular topic. As such, a scoping review was conducted on publications between 1980 and January 2020. A total of 26 733 were selected for analysis in accordance with the search terms. After duplicates were removed and the exclusion criteria were applied, a total of 58 articles were selected for inclusion in the review. Thematic analysis was conducted on the studies included, and three themes were developed pertaining to the experiences of women survivors of CSA in relation to nonsupportive significant adults. Theme 1 identified nonsupportive behaviors experienced before disclosure or discovery of abuse. Theme 2 identified nonsupportive behaviors experienced during or after disclosure or discovery of abuse. Theme 3 identified the long-term negative consequences of nonsupportive experiences. These three themes support the findings of Freyd's betrayal trauma theory and Bowlby's attachment theory, extend on the global knowledge base of this topic, and identify gaps for further exploration. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are a series of perioperative interventions well-established in improving the care and outcomes of patients. With recent emergence of studies on its implementation in cardiac surgery, this paper represents the first systematic review on current evidence of ERAS efficacy in this field. Two reviewers independently searched through Pubmed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Embase and Scopus. Comparative studies with controls that described the implementation of ERAS in all types of cardiac operations from 2001 to 2020 were included. Data extracted included patient demographics, components of ERAS protocol described, types of cardiac surgery, and postoperative outcomes. In the final analysis, nine studies were included, of which there were one randomized controlled trial (RCT), one quasi-experiment and seven retrospective/prospective studies. Significant improvement in hospital and ICU length of stay, as well as reduction in postoperative opioid consuative outcomes of patients, and not the long-term outcomes. Here, using simulations from a food web model based on a community assembly process and a trait-based approach, we test how species biodiversity, food web structure and predator-prey interactions determine several ecosystem functions (biomass, metabolism, production, and productivity). Our results demonstrate that the relationship between species richnessvational studies. We recommend that studies investigating links between biodiversity and ecosystem functions should include metrics of dominance, species composition, trophic structure and possibly environmental trait space. Blickrichtung von BehandlerInnen und PatientInnen während der Phasen der Sprachproduktion r die Arbeit von BehandlerInnen und DolmetscherInnen in der Geflüchtetenarbeit.in English, German Personen mit Body Integrity Dysphoria (BID) haben den starken Wunsch nach einer Amputation (BID-A) oder Lähmung (BID-L). Erkenntnisse über psychische Aspekte von BID basieren fast ausschließlich auf Selbstberichten. Diese Pilotstudie soll anhand experimenteller Paradigmen Erkenntnisse zu kognitiven und affektiven Prozessen, die über den Verbalbericht der Betroffenen hinausgehen, gewinnen. Dafür wurden n=5 Personen mit BID-A, n=3 mit BID-L, n=22 psychisch gesunde Personen und n=8 Personen mit körperdysmorpher Störung (KDS, eine andere Gruppe mit starken Körpermodifikationswünschen) erhoben. Es wurde die selektive Aufmerksamkeit (Eyetracking-Paradigma), die Anfälligkeit für fehlerhafte Erinnerungen (DRM-Paradigma) und die affektive Nichtbeteiligung am unerwünschten Körperteil (Induzierung und Zerstörung einer Rubber-Hand/Foot-Illusion) untersucht. Im deskriptiven Vergleich blickten die hier teilnehmenden Personen mit BID-A schneller und länger auf abgebildete Amputationsstümpfe als alle anderen Gruppen und zeigten eine geringere Schreckreaktion auf die Zerstörung ihrer Körperillusion.

Comparison of inoculated cells with non-inoculated control cells showed that all tumor cell lines were permissive to the virus. The virus caused CPE in the TPC-1 and 8505C, but not in BCPAP cells. The gender-specific effect estimates and pooled ratio (female-to-male) for ESRD and for deaths from T1D-related renal disease were acquired via a random-effects meta-analysis with inverse variance weighting, regardless of heterogeneity evaluated based on the I2 statistic. RESULTS Nineteen studies, including 122,842 individuals, were finally selected for this meta-analysis. Sex differences in effect estimates were found in ESRD (pooled ratio = 0.81 (95% confidence interval 0.69-0.94)) with considerable heterogeneity (I2 = 66.9%), but not in mortality with T1D-associated renal disease. METHODS Transcriptomic, functional annotation and qRT-PCR studies were performed on JQ1-exposed TNBC cells in culture. The results obtained were confirmed in spheroids and spheroid-derived tumours. In addition, limiting dilution, secondary and tertiary tumour sphere formation, matrigel invasion, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry assays were performed to evaluate the effect of JQ1 on CSC features. The immunosuppressive effects on dendritic cells (DCs), T and B cells as well as their low immunogenicity allow the use of PDLSCs in stem cell therapies for autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes (T1D). Studies on the immunomodulatory potential of PDLSCs in the context type 1 diabetes are lacking but are therefore worth pursuing.

    CD14 + monocytes isolated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNCs) of type 1 diabetic patients were differentiated into immature Dendritic Cells (iDCs) and then maturation was induced to generate Mature Dendritic Cells (****). The aims of this study were to describe the characteristics of sleep among university students in Iran. In addition, we assessed the relationship between lifestyle and anthropometric factors with the sleep characteristics.

    This population-based cross-sectional study was conducted using the data of "Mental and Physical Health Assessment of University Students in Iran" survey 2012-2013. This survey was conducted on newly admitted students in 74 public universities in 28 provinces. The participants were younger adults. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were utilized to recognize associated factors with sleep pattern and range.

    Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is the most common and troublesome complication of diabetes mellitus. It affects almost half the population with diabetes and worsens quality of life of the patient. This study was aimed to determine the prevalence of peripheral neuropathy and associated pain in patients with diabetes mellitus.

    This was a cross-sectional study conducted over a period of six months. Patient's ≥ 18years with confirmed diagnosis of diabetes mellitus were included in the study. Patients with hypothyroidism, medical illness such as cancer, liver or renal disease, cervical or lumbar spondylosis, pregnant patients with diabetes and patients receiving any treatment that might influence nerve function (e.g., cytotoxic or antiepileptic agents) were excluded from the study. DPN was diagnosed using 10g monofilament test. The S-LANSS questionnaire was used to assess the associated painful symptoms. Association was calculated using chi-square test. A p- value of ≤0.05 was considered statistically significant. All the statistical analysis was performed using SPSS v22.

    The overall prevalence of DPN was found to be 28.85% from which 88% patients were found to have painful symptoms. A significant association of DPN was observed with the duration of diabetes (
