Inhibiting HDAC4 by microinjection of sodium butyrate into the mPFC could disrupt glucocorticoid receptor (GR) signaling pathway, which lowered SPS + CFA-caused mechanical allodynia and alleviated anxiety-like behavior. Together, our studies suggest that HDAC inhibitors might involve in the process of stress-induced hyperalgesia.Propofol is generally used for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia in clinical procedures via activation of γ -aminobutyric acid A (GABAA) receptors. When administered at the clinical dose, propofol use is associated with movement disorders, including dystonia and ataxia, suggesting that propofol administration impacts the function of cerebellar neuronal circuitry. In this study, we investigated the effect of propofol on climbing fiber (CF)-Purkinje cell (PC) synaptic transmission in mouse cerebellar slices in the absence of GABAergic inhibition using a whole-cell recording technique and pharmacological methods. Our results showed that bath application of propofol enhanced CF-PC synaptic transmission, which was demonstrated by an increased amplitude and area under the curve (AUC) of the excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) accompanied by a decrease in the paired-pulse ratio (PPR). The propofol-induced increase in the amplitude of P1 was concentration-dependent with a half effective concentration (EC50) of 20.9 μM. The propofol-induced increases in the amplitude and AUC of CF-PC EPSCs were abolished by an N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor blocker. Furthermore, the application of NMDA enhanced CF-PC EPSCs and overwhelmed the effect of propofol on CF-PC EPSCs. Moreover, intracellular blockade of NMDA receptors attenuated the propofol-induced enhancement of CF-PC synaptic transmission but strengthened the propofol-induced change in the PPR. These results indicate that propofol enhances CF-PC synaptic transmission by activation of NMDA receptors in the mouse cerebellar cortex, suggesting that propofol administration might be involved in propofol-induced dysfunction of the cerebellum via NMDA receptors.The retinal capillary vasculature serves the formidable role of supplying the metabolically active inner and middle retina. Each capillary plexus autoregulates independently, so that under most conditions the retinal vasculature supplies adequate blood flow and oxygen saturation at varying depths despite diverse environmental stressors. When the flow in the deep vascular complex (i.e. ICP and DCP) fails, an ischemic lesion referred to as Paracentral Acute Middle Maculopathy (PAMM) can be identified. PAMM is an optical coherence tomography (OCT) finding defined by the presence of a hyperreflective band at the level of the inner nuclear layer (INL) that indicates INL infarction caused by globally impaired perfusion through the retinal capillary system leading to hypoperfusion of the DVC or specifically the DCP. Patients present with an acute onset paracentral scotoma and typically experience a permanent visual defect. Lesions can be caused by a diverse set of local retinal vascular diseases and systemic disorders. PAMM is a manifestation of the retinal ischemic cascade in which the mildest forms of ischemia develop at the venular end of the DCP, i.e. perivenular PAMM, while more severe forms progress horizontally to diffusely involve the INL, and the most severe forms progress vertically to infarct the inner retina. Management is targeted toward the identification and treatment of related vasculopathic and systemic risk factors.Metabolic research is a challenge because of the variety of data within experimental series and the difficulty of replicating results among scientific groups. The fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, is a cost-effective and reliable pioneer model to screen dietary variables for metabolic research. One of the main reasons for problems in this field are differences in food recipes, diet-associated microbial environments and the pharmacokinetic behavior of nutrients across the gut-blood barrier. To prevent such experimental shortcomings, a common strategy is to pool scores of subjects into one sample to create an average statement. However, this approach lacks information about the biological spread and may provoke misleading interpretations. We propose to use the developmental rate of individual Drosophila larvae as a metabolic sensor. To do so, we introduce here a 96-well plate-based assay, which allows screening for multiple variables including food quality, microbial load, and genetic differences. We demonstrate that on a diet that is rich in calories, pupation is sensitive to the variation of dietary lipid compounds and that genotypes considered as wild-types/controls produce different developmental profiles. Our platform is suited for later automation and represents a potent high-throughput screening tool for the pharmacology and food industry. If used systematically, our assay could become a powerful reference tool to compare the quality of used dietary configurations with published benchmark recipes.Methoprene supplements added to diets of yeast hydrolysate and sugar promote early expression of sexual behaviour and mating in male Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni; 'Q-fly') and show promise as a pre-release treatment for sterile insect technique programs. Mechanical balloon dilation and direct visualization internal urethrotomy (DVIU) are the most widely used treatments for urethral stricture disease in the U.S., but recurrence rates are high, especially after re-treatment. This study investigates the safety and efficacy of the Optilume™ paclitaxel-coated balloon for the treatment of recurrent strictures.
Men with recurrent bulbar strictures ≤2 cm with 1-4 prior endoscopic treatments were treated with the Optilume™ drug-coated balloon. Patients were evaluated within 14 days, three, six, 12, and 24 months post-treatment. The primary safety endpoint was serious urinary adverse events. The primary efficacy endpoint was ≥50% improvement in International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) at 24 months. Secondary outcomes included quality of life, erectile function, flow rate, and post-void residual urine volume.
A total of 53 subjects were enrolled and treated; 46 completed the 24-month followup. Forty-three percent of men had undergone >1 previous dilations, with a mean of 1.7 prior dilations. There were no serious adverse events related to treatment at two years. Success was achieved in 32/46 (70%), and baseline IPSS improved from a mean of 25.2 to 6.9 at 24 months (p<0.0001). Quality of life, flow rate, and post-void residual urine volumes improved significantly from baseline. There was no impact on erectile function.

Secondary polycythemia is a known adverse effect of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Different testosterone formulations are available, with significantly different half-lives, which have varying influences on the development of secondary polycythemia. Herein, we compared the prevalence of secondary polycythemia in testosterone-deficient men treated with intranasal testosterone gel (Natesto
) vs. intramuscular testosterone cypionate (TC) therapy.
We performed a cross-sectional analysis of secondary polycythemia (hematocrit [Hct] ≥54%) in men who received TRT. We included a total of 60 men 30 men who received Natesto (4.5% testosterone gel [tid, 5.5 mg/nostril, 11 mg/dose, 33 mg/day]), and 30 who received TC (between 0.5 and 1.0 mL or 100-200 mg intramuscularly weekly). A univariable and multiple regression analysis was performed considering last Hct measurement as the main outcome. The analyzed variables included were age, body mass index (BMI), smoking history, treatment group, and testosterone levels on followup.
We identified polycythemia (Hct ≥54%) in 10% (3/30) of men who received TC. Additionally, in men treated with TC, 33.3% (10/30) had a Hct ≥50% during therapy. None of the men who received Natesto had a Hct ≥50% during therapy. On multivariable linear regression analysis, we demonstrated that the use of TC increased Hct by 3.24% (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.74-5.73%, p=0.012) compared to Natesto.

We sought to assess seven-day and 30-day complications following renal mass biopsy (RMB), including mortality, hospitalizations, emergency department (ED) visits, and operative and non-operative complications and compare these to rates in population-matched controls.
We performed a population-based, matched, retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing RMB following consultation with a urologist and axial imaging from 2003-2015 in Ontario, Canada. Data on seven-day and 30-day rates of mortality, as well as operative and non operative complications after RMB were reported. The seven-day and 30-day rates of mortality, operative and non-operative interventions, hospitalizations, and ED visits were compared to matched controls using multivariable logistic regression.
Among 6840 patients who underwent RMB in the study period, 24 (0.4%) and 159 (2.3%) died within seven and 30 days of their biopsy, respectively. Seven- and 30-day operative intervention rates were 79 (1.2%) and 236 (3.4%), respectively. Sethe dataset limits the strength of these conclusions. Further studies are needed to confirm our results. These risks should be discussed with patients for shared decision-making and considered in the risk/benefit tradeoff for the management of small renal masses.
The holmiumyttrium-aluminum-garnet (HoYAG) laser is the gold standard for intracorporeal lithotripsy. Preclinical reports suggest the thulium laser fibre (TFL) may possess advantages over the HoYAG laser, including improved lithotripsy efficacy, enhanced safety, and lower costs. Although the TFL is well-characterized in-vitro, there are no reviews examining TFL lithotripsy in a clinical setting.
A review of the literature was conducted using a systematic search of MEDLINE, PubMed, and Embase, yielding a total of 130 manuscripts published up to May 2020. Two independent reviewers selected studies for screening, eligibility, and inclusion into the scoping review. Following the title, abstract, and full-text review, 14 articles were analyzed.

Study followup durations ranged from four weeks to three months. TFL had comparable stone-free rates to HoYAG lasers and improved operating time. TFL appeared clinically safe and did not result in any major complications. Many studies were underpowered and non-peer-reviewed, demonstrating the need for additional research in this field.

While the objective of this scoping review was to describe the contemporary landscape of the literature, it is important to consider that inferences posed by the studies described herein must be tempered by the low quality of available evidence.

Studies have revealed that the inhibition of abnormal hyperphosphorylation and aggregation of tau in the AD brain might serve as an important drug target. Using in vitro and in vivo experimental models, such as the AD mouse model (5xFAD ****), we investigated the inhibition of hyperphosphorylation of tau using the human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-****). Administration of hUCB-**** not only ameliorated the spatial learning and memory impairments but also mitigated the hyperphosphorylation of tau in 5xFAD ****. Furthermore, in vivo experiments in **** and in vitro ThT fluorescence assay validated galectin-3 (GAL-3) as an essential factor of hUCB-MSC. Moreover, GAL-3 was observed to be involved in the removal of aberrant forms of tau, by reducing hyperphosphorylation through decrements in the glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK-3β). Our results confirm that GAL-3, secreted by hUCB-MSC, regulates the abnormal accumulation of tau by protein-protein interactions. This study suggests that hUCB-**** mitigate hyperphosphorylation of tau through GAL-3 secretion. Administration of hUCB-MSCs not only ameliorated the spatial learning and memory impairments but also mitigated the hyperphosphorylation of tau in 5xFAD mice. Furthermore, in vivo experiments in mice and in vitro ThT fluorescence assay validated galectin-3 (GAL-3) as an essential factor of hUCB-MSC. Moreover, GAL-3 was observed to be involved in the removal of aberrant forms of tau, by reducing hyperphosphorylation through decrements in the glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK-3β). We used a mixed-methods approach to examine identity disruption among 244 Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans with reintegration difficulty who participated in an expressive writing intervention. Participants completed measures of social support, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptom severity, satisfaction with life, and reintegration difficulty at baseline right before writing, and 3 and 6 months after the expressive writing intervention. The expressive writing samples were coded for identity disruption using thematic analysis. We hypothesized that identity disruption would be associated with lower social support, more severe PTSD symptoms, lower satisfaction with life, and greater reintegration difficulty at baseline. Forty-nine percent (n = 121) of the sample indicated identity disruption in their writing samples. Identity disruption was associated with more severe PTSD symptoms, lower satisfaction with life, and greater reintegration difficulty at baseline, and with less improvement in social support. The findings suggest that identity disruption is a meaningful construct for extending the study of identity development to established adult and midlife populations, and for understanding veterans' adjustment to civilian life. Research has demonstrated that traumatic experiences have significant links to suicidal ideation (SI), particularly among older adults. The present study examined SI among older adults with a history of war trauma and the role of perceptions relating to one's age (subjective age) in predicting SI.
Drawing from a larger longitudinal study, we analyzed data based on interviews with 125 ex-prisoners of war (ex-POWS) from Israel's 1973 Yom Kippur War and a control group of 101 veterans from the same war who did not fall captive (mean age at most recent measurement was 65.05,
= 5.29). Participants were interviewed in 2008 (T1) and again in 2015 (T2).
Findings revealed significantly higher levels of SI among ex-POWs than evident among controls and significantly higher levels of SI and subjective age among ex-POWs with PTSD. Furthermore, a sequential mediation analysis indicated that among ex-POWs, the path from T1 PTSD symptoms to subsequent SI was mediated by subjective age at T1, and subjective age at T2, after controlling for age, self-rated health, and SI at T1.

Furthermore, an older subjective age mediated these associations, independent of the levels of T1 SI, actual age, and self-rated health. Results No intervention effect was identified for self-blame or depressive symptoms among subsequent victims. However, the intervention led to lower levels of overall posttraumatic stress symptoms, including avoidance and changes in cognition and mood symptoms, for participants who experienced unwanted sexual intercourse and/or physical intimate partner violence in the treatment versus the control condition. Gender did not moderate intervention effects. Conclusion Overall, results suggest that interventions aimed at providing social support to survivors may lead to some benefits for individuals who are subsequently victimized. Criterion A events might have greater predictive validity for International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-11 PTSD, which is a condition more narrowly defined by core features. We evaluated the impact of using Criterion A, an expanded trauma definition in line with ICD-11 guidelines, and no exposure criterion on rates of ICD-11 PTSD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD). Objectives To review the FS and FR anatomy, radiology, and surgical techniques. Data Synthesis The FS features a variety of anatomical, volumetric and dimensional characteristics. From the endoscopic point of view, the FR is the point of greatest narrowing and, to have access to this region, one must know the anatomical limits and the ethmoid cells that are located around the FR and very often block the sinus drainage. Benign diseases such as chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), mucocele and osteomas are the main pathologies found in the FS; however, there is a wide variety of malignant tumors that can also affect this region and represent a major technical challenge to the surgeon. Symptoms are varied, and not all patients develop all of them. Conclusion Social distancing seems to have been successful in several places in the world. However, this recommendation alone is not enough to contain the disease, and it is not a long-term solution. Large-scale testing by health professionals of representative samples of the population may give an estimate of the progression of the disease. Different treatments are under test and bring hope of a cure to the population. Methods A retrospective review of the clinical records of all the patients with histological diagnosis of ** who were surgically treated at the Social Security Hospital in Quito, Ecuador, was performed. Results The 43 patients with a 2 nd branchial cleft cyst underwent complete surgical excision through a wide mid-neck transverse cervicotomy. The 6 cases of 3 rd branchial cleft cyst underwent surgical resection through a lower-neck transverse incision, and the 2 patients with clinical fistula in the lower aspect of the neck were operated on via an elliptical incision around this external fistula opening. Postoperative evolution was uneventful in all patients. Conclusions Branchial cysts can occasionally be diagnosed in adult patients in the setting of a general hospital population. A correct clinical and imaging assessment was diagnostic in most patients. Complete surgical resection was curative in all our patients, and postoperative complications were exceptional.
After the review, 359 studies totaling 394 patients between 1990 and 2017 had partial or complete data that could be analyzed. The surgical management of the FS and of the frontal recess (FR) is technically challenging, and a complete understanding of its anatomy, radiology, main diseases and surgical techniques is crucial to achieve therapeutic success. Objectives To review the FS and FR anatomy, radiology, and surgical techniques. Data Synthesis The FS features a variety of anatomical, volumetric and dimensional characteristics. From the endoscopic point of view, the FR is the point of greatest narrowing and, to have access to this region, one must know the anatomical limits and the ethmoid cells that are located around the FR and very often block the sinus drainage. Benign diseases such as chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), mucocele and osteomas are the main pathologies found in the FS; however, there is a wide variety of malignant tumors that can also affect this region and represent a major technical challenge to the surgeon. With the advances in the endoscopic technique, the vast majority of diseases that affect the FS can be treated according to Wolfgang Draf, who systemized the approaches into four types (I, IIa, IIb, III). Objective The present review summarizes currently published evidence of Covid-19 epidemiology, clinical characteristics, treatment and prevention. No proven effective treatments for this disease currently exist. Data Synthesis COVID-19 started from a zoonotic transmission event associated with a large seafood market that also traded in live wild animals, and it soon became clear that efficient person-to-person transmission was also occurring. Symptoms are varied, and not all patients develop all of them. Conclusion Social distancing seems to have been successful in several places in the world. However, this recommendation alone is not enough to contain the disease, and it is not a long-term solution. Large-scale testing by health professionals of representative samples of the population may give an estimate of the progression of the disease. Different treatments are under test and bring hope of a cure to the population. However, no current treatments (April 27, 2020) have been proven to be the key to success in the treatment of patients with COVID-19. Planetary health is a useful concept to understand the current drivers of this pandemic and to draw a roadmap for science and healthcare that may guide actions to fight economic depression and ensure a healthy recovery.Introduction Branchial cleft anomalies are the second most common congenital anomaly in children. However, some lesions may not develop clinically and are not diagnosed until adulthood. The recent literature of branchial cysts (BCs) in the adult population is really scanty. For this reason, we analyzed the clinical and surgical management of the adult population treated for a BC at a tertiary care general hospital. Methods A retrospective review of the clinical records of all the patients with histological diagnosis of BC who were surgically treated at the Social Security Hospital in Quito, Ecuador, was performed. The use of crystal engineering to control the supramolecular arrangement of π-conjugated molecules in the solid-state is of considerable interest for the development of novel organic electronic materials. In this study, we investigated the effect of combining of two types of supramolecular interaction with different geometric requirements, amide hydrogen bonding and π-interactions, on the π-overlap between calamitic π-conjugated cores. To this end, we prepared two series of bithiophene diesters and diamides with methylene, ethylene, or propylene spacers between the bithiophene core and the functional groups in their terminal substituents. The combined impact of variable surgeon prescribing preferences and low resident prescribing comfort level can lead to significant disparity in opioid prescribing patterns for the same surgery in the same academic surgical practice. We report the results of a resident led initiative to standardize postoperative prescription practices within the Department of Otolaryngology at a single tertiary-care academic hospital in order to reduce overall opioid distribution.
Retrospective cohort study.
Following approval by the Institutional Review Board, performed a retrospective review of 12 months before (July 2016-June 2017) and after (July 2017-June 2018) implementation of the Postoperative Analgesia Protocol, which included all adults undergoing tonsillectomy, septoplasty, thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, tympanoplasty, middle ear exploration, stapedectomy, and ossicular chain reconstruction.
Seven hundred and thirty eight procedures met inclusion criteria. Following implementation, total morphine milligram equivalents decreased by 26% (P < .0001). The number of patients requiring opioid refills decreased by 49%, and morphine milligram equivalents received as refills decreased by 16% (P < .001). Thyroid and parathyroid surgery had the greatest reduction in morphine milligram equivalents prescribed (84%, P < .001), followed by septoplasty (30%, P = .001) and tonsillectomy (18%, P < .001). The number of patients receiving refills of opioid medications decreased for all procedures (tonsillectomy 54%; septoplasty 67%; thyroid/parathyroid surgery 80%, middle ear surgery 100%).
While every patient and surgery must be treated individually, this study demonstrates that a resident led standardization of pain control regimes can result in significant reductions in total quantity of opioids prescribed.

Pinpointing which genes and genomic regions are underlying phenotypic variability thus helps to understand the processes of acclimation and adaptation. We used Daphnia as a system to identify candidates playing a role in phenotypic variation related to a predation risk environment with a genome-wide association approach. Furthermore, a gene co-expression network analysis allowed identifying clusters of co-expressed genes which correlated to life history traits. To enhance the understanding of the functional roles of the transcripts, we identified orthologs and paralogs from related species and used ontologies to annotate the candidates of interest. Our study revealed that only one life history trait and two morphometric traits have a genetic association in the presence of predation risk (fish kairomones), whereas most genotype-phenotype associations were detected in a genotype-environment interaction analysis for reproduction-related phenotypic traits. The gene co-expression network analysis identified a total of 44 modules, of which one module correlated to another life history trait namely the 'total number of broods'. The combined use of gene co-expression network and transcriptome-wide association analysis allowed the identification of 131 candidate transcripts associated with life history traits in Daphnia galeata. These results lay the ground for targeted studies to further understand phenotypic variability in this species.
Despite being common, neck injuries have received relatively little attention for important quality of care metrics. This study sought to determine the association between blunt and penetrating neck injuries on mortality and length of stay, and to identify additional patient and hospital-level characteristics that impact these outcomes.
Retrospective cohort study utilizing the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program database.
Adult patients (≥18) who sustained traumatic injuries involving the soft tissues of the neck between 2012 and 2016 were eligible. Multiple imputation was used to account for missing data. Logistic regression and negative binomial models were used to analyze 1) in-hospital mortality and 2) length of stay respectively while adjusting for potential confounders and accounting for clustering at the hospital level.
In a cohort of 20,285 patients, the crude mortality rate was lower in those sustaining blunt neck injuries compared to penetrating injuries (4.9% vs. 6.0%, P < .01), while length of hospital stay was similar (median 9.9 vs. 10.2, P = 0.06). In adjusted analysis, blunt neck injuries were associated with a reduced odds of mortality during hospital admission (odds ratio 0.66, 95% confidence intervals [0.564, 0.788]), as well as significant reductions in length of stay (rate ratio 0.92, 95% confidence intervals [0.880, 0.954]).
Blunt neck injuries are associated with lower mortality and length of stay compared to penetrating injuries. Areas of future study have been identified, including elucidation of processes of care in specific organs of injury.

This paper analyzes the impact of COVID-19 on the transportation sector and subsequent implications on the sectoral energy savings and greenhouse gas emissions in some selected cities worldwide. A model for smart transportation is proposed by considering four indicators, including transport efficiency, technology integration, traffic congestion rate, and accessibility ratio. While prior health crises, such as SARS, impacted the transportation sector, the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented, resulting in exceptional impacts on this sector. Canadian Civil Aviation activities dropped by 71%, compared to business as usual, whereas military aviation activities declined by 27%. As of the end of June 2020, cities with higher than 50% mobility index include Brussels, Singapore, Stockholm, Lyon, Paris, Moscow, and Hong Kong with the highest mobility index of 76%. American cities have the lowest mobility indexes as of the end of June with mobility indexes lower than 20%. It is expected and reasonable to assume that the public's response to COVID-19 will exceed that of SARS. While Britons and Canadians are the biggest supporters of keeping the economy and businesses shut until COVID-19 is fully contained, the Chinese, Russians, Indians, and Italians find it vital to restart the economy regardless. Results show that the majority of the world is in a state of mental distress and will face nervousness and anxiety issues post-COVID-19. This sentiment is strongest in India, Japan, China, the U.K., Brazil and Canada, ranging between 68% and 78%. Attitude, perceived behavioral control, and social norms are overall the strongest predictors of adoption intention and WTP for HEMS. Regarding WTP for specific well-being features, attitude was the strongest positive predictor of telemedical and home security features, and social norms are the strongest positive predictor of elderly assistance and job search. Technology anxiety, surprisingly, positively influences WTP for the well-being features. Trust in utilities is not related to adoption intention, but is positively associated with WTP for the well-being features. Although cybersecurity concerns are positively associated with HEMS adoption intention for energy and well-being features, this relationship is not significant in WTP. Residents who had moderate perceived risk of getting COVID-19 are willing to pay more than the high- and low-risk groups. This paper addresses the interactions among technology attributes, and users' social-psychological and demographics factors. The emergency measures adopted by states, firms, and individuals in response to this global health crisis have driven a series of political, economic and social changes with potential to influence sustainable energy transitions. We identify some of the initial impacts of the 'great lockdown' on sustainable and fossil sources of energy, and consider how economic stimulus packages and social practices in the wake of the pandemic are likely to shape energy demand, the carbon-intensity of the energy system, and the speed of transitions. Adopting a broad multi-scalar and multi-actor approach to the analysis of energy system change, we highlight continuities and discontinuities with pre-pandemic trends. Discussion focuses on four key themes that shape the politics of sustainable energy transitions (i) the short, medium and long-term temporalities of energy system change; (ii) practices of investment around clean-tech and divestment from fossil fuels; (iii) structures and scales of energy governance; and (iv) social practices around mobility, work and public health. While the effects of the pandemic continue to unfold, some of its sectoral and geographically differentiated impacts are already emerging. We conclude that the politics of sustainable energy transitions are now at a critical juncture, in which the form and direction of state support for post-pandemic economic recovery will be key.In many countries, the lock-down due to the COVID-19 pandemic triggered discussions on the use of digital interaction formats for academic exchange. The pace with which researchers adopted digital formats for conferences, lectures, and meetings revealed that currently available tools can substitute many of the physical interactions in the workplace. It also showed that academics are willing to use digital tools for scientific exchange. This article sheds light on scholars' experiences with digital formats and tools during the pandemic. We argue that digital interaction formats increase the inclusivity of knowledge exchange, reduce time and costs of organizing academic interactions, and enable more diverse workspaces with geographical and temporal flexibility. However, we also observe that digital interaction formats struggle to reproduce social interactions such as informal discussions, raise new concerns on data security, and can induce higher stress levels due to the blurring of the boundaries between work and private spaces.

Discussion focuses on four key themes that shape the politics of sustainable energy transitions (i) the short, medium and long-term temporalities of energy system change; (ii) practices of investment around clean-tech and divestment from fossil fuels; (iii) structures and scales of energy governance; and (iv) social practices around mobility, work and public health. While the effects of the pandemic continue to unfold, some of its sectoral and geographically differentiated impacts are already emerging. We conclude that the politics of sustainable energy transitions are now at a critical juncture, in which the form and direction of state support for post-pandemic economic recovery will be key.In many countries, the lock-down due to the COVID-19 pandemic triggered discussions on the use of digital interaction formats for academic exchange. The pace with which researchers adopted digital formats for conferences, lectures, and meetings revealed that currently available tools can substitute many of the physical interactions in the workplace. It also showed that academics are willing to use digital tools for scientific exchange. This article sheds light on scholars' experiences with digital formats and tools during the pandemic. We argue that digital interaction formats increase the inclusivity of knowledge exchange, reduce time and costs of organizing academic interactions, and enable more diverse workspaces with geographical and temporal flexibility. Dentists are independent prescribers that can prescribe subsidised medicines under the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). It is hypothesised that increased dental prescribing can partly be accounted for by the growth in both the Australian population and the number of practising dentists. This pharmacoepidemiological study aims to determine the dispensing patterns of medications amongst dentists and to identify trends over time.
Data on dental medications under PBS from 2006 to 2018 were accessed. All the dentist-prescribed concessional medicines dispensed at pharmacies in 2018 were included for time trend analysis. Cumulative dispensing counts and defined daily dose (DDD) per 1,000 concessional population days (DPD) were analysed for time trend analysis.
Out of the 56 medications within the dental PBS schedule, the top 20 medicines had a total cumulative dispensing count of 5,058,556, which accounts for 97.4% of the total dispensing count. Eleven out of 20 medicines were antibiotics. Overall, increases were observed for seven out of 20 medicines (amoxicillin+clavulanic acid, clindamycin, ibuprofen, diazepam, oxycodone, tramadol, naproxen) in both dispensing count and trend, as expressed per DPD.
This study highlights the increasing dispensing pattern and trends of dentist-prescribed antibiotics, opioids and benzodiazepines. Further investigation may be required to determine whether the medicine use is appropriate. In the future, this could provide new educational opportunities on the appropriate use of medicines for dentists.

This study aims to explore natural PC sources rich in polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) with nutritional interest. PCs from six beans were purified (purity > 98.2%) by thin layer chromatography (TLC), and subsequently identified by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-Quadrupole (Q)-high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-HRMS). Results showed that the PC content of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) and soybean (Glycine max) was 50.0 and 34.0 mg/g, respectively, which was significantly higher than that of other beans (P less then 0.05). Gas chromatographic analysis showed that soybean contained high proportion of PUFA (58.78%), and chickpea contained high proportion of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (2.73%). A total of 49 molecular species were identified by UHPLC-Q-HRMS. (182-182)PC was predominant in soybean, adzuki bean, runner bean, and common bean. Catheter ablation of perimitral atrial tachycardia (PMAT) is challenging. Epicardial conduction of the Marshall bundle (MB) across the mitral isthmus (MI) remains an important cause of recurrent tachycardia. The role of ethanol infusion into the vein of Marshall (EI-VOM) for PMAT has not been fully elucidated.
The study enrolled 28 consecutive patients with recurrent PMAT after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. Conventional PMAT (group 1, n=15) and MB-related PMAT (group 2, n=13) were diagnosed by detailed activation mapping and entrainment mapping. VOM venography and EI-VOM were first performed, and additional ablation was performed if necessary.
The VOM was accessible in 24 (85.7%) patients (12 [80%] in group 1 and 12 [92.3%] in group 2). Patients with MB-related PMAT were more responsive to EI-VOM (as shown by PMAT termination or tachycardia cycle length prolongation) (92.4%vs 53.3%, P=.038). In the 16 patients requiring additional ablation after EI-VOM, all residual MI conduction gaps were located on the annular side of the MI. At the end of the procedure, MI bidirectional block was achieved in 14 (93.3%) patients in group 1 and in 12 (92.3%) patients in group 2 (P=1.000). After a mean follow-up of 7.5 ± 3.1 months, three (10.7%) patients had recurrent AT.

Regression models and response surface curves were generated to predict the film properties. The effect of the cold storage (6 °C and 17% of humidity relative, for 60 days) on the film properties was also investigated in order to simulate future applications. All the properties were mainly influenced by the extract type. The incorporation of the extracts decreased the lightness parameter and the films produced with green tea extract were more opaque than those made with rosemary. Starch/rosemary blends were more flexible, while the extract type did not have a significant effect on tensile strength (TS). Film elongation (ELO) ranged from 520% to 719% and might be comparable to some synthetic polymers.

Patients with Alzheimer's disease psychosis (ADP) commonly experience concomitant agitation and aggression. We investigated whether a reduction in ADP following pimavanserin treatment conferred a reduction in associated agitation and aggression.
ACP-103-019 was a 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study that evaluated the efficacy of pimavanserin (34 mg) in reducing psychotic symptoms in patients with ADP. The primary endpoint was change from baseline in Neuropsychiatric Inventory-Nursing Home Version-Psychosis Score (NPI-NH-PS) at week six. A post hoc analysis examined whether there was a greater reduction in agitation and aggression (NPI-NH domain C [agitation/aggression] and Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory-Short Form [CMAI-SF]) in pimavanserin-treated patients who experienced a reduction of hallucinations and delusions (psychosis responders defined as ≥50% reduction from baseline in NPI-NH-PS, week six) when compared with those who did not (nonresponders).
Pimavanserin-treated patients with ≥50% response in psychotic symptoms (n = 44) showed a greater improvement in agitation and aggression symptoms on the NPI-NH domain C (week six, least squares mean [LSM] difference = -3.64, t = -4.69, P < .0001) and the CMAI-SF (week six, LSM difference = -3.71, t = -2.01, P = .0483) than nonresponders (n = 32). The inhibition of NOS activity by blocker L-NAME abolished NaHS-mediated vasodilatation in the intact endothelium of the aorta in diabetes. It indicates that the NaHS caused vasodilatation by a NOS-dependent mechanism.

Metalworkers are exposed to many sensitizing and irritant substances. There are no published data on contact allergy in this population in the Baltic countries.
To detect skin symptoms related to occupational exposure and to describe the reactivity pattern to the European baseline series in workers from two metal plants in Lithuania.
In this cross-sectional study 185 metalworkers (154 production workers and 31 office staff) filled an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Patch testing was performed in 135 metalworkers and office staff, as a control group.
Metalworkers younger than 40 years complained statistically significantly more often of skin symptoms, especially on the hands and face, than older workers. Physician-diagnosed skin diseases were reported in 1.7% of cases. Metalworkers, working <20 years in the factory, more often had skin symptoms. Contact with chemicals at the workplace was suspected as the main factor provoking skin symptoms. Metalworkers were sensitized mainly to cobalt, and nickel was the most prevalent allergen among office staff.

Suppuration (SUP) as a diagnostic parameter for monitoring dental implants is not yet well understood. The retrospective clinical and radiographic study was therefore performed to investigate the patient, implant, and site characteristics among individuals exhibiting SUP.
Demographic characteristics and clinical parameters were recorded. Radiographic features were analyzed using cone-beam computed tomography. Peri-implantitis was defined based on the consensus report of Workgroup 4 of the 2017 World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions probing depth (PD) ≥6mm, presence of bleeding and/or SUP on gentle probing, and radiographic marginal bone loss (MBL) ≥3mm. SUP was graded according to profuseness (dot versus line/drop) and time after probing (≥15 seconds versus<15 seconds after probing versus spontaneous). Simple binary logistic regression models were estimated using generalized estimation equations to explain the probability of SUP based on demographic, clinical, and radiographic variables.
