    In total, we registered 217 older adults with fragility fractures (hip or vertebral) retrospectively and examined the association between rehabilitation outcome and polypharmacy, potentially inappropriate medications and potential prescribing omissions. Polypharmacy was defined as five or more drugs. Potentially inappropriate medications and potential prescribing omissions were defined by the Beers criteria (2015) and the screening tool to alert to treatment criteria version 2, respectively. The outcome was functional independence measure gain (functional independence measure at discharge - functional independence measure at admission).

    Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has been associated with sarcopenia. However, mortality in the setting of NAFLD-related sarcopenia remains undefined. We aim to determine the all-cause and cause-specific mortality from sarcopenia among adults with NAFLD in the USA.

    11065 individuals in the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were studied and linked mortality through 2015 was analysed. NAFLD was diagnosed based on presence of ultrasonographic hepatic steatosis without other known liver diseases. Sarcopenia was defined as skeletal muscle index determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis. The Cox proportional hazard model was used to assess all-cause mortality and cause-specific mortality, and hazard ratio (HR) adjusted for known risk factors.

    During a median follow-up of 23years or more, sarcopenia was associated with increased all-cause mortality (HR 1.27, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.11-1.44). Only in individuals with NAFLD, sarcopenia was associated with a higher risk for all-cause mortality, while this association was absent in those without NAFLD. Individuals with both sarcopenia and NAFLD had a higher risk for all-cause mortality (HR 1.28 95% CI 1.06-1.55) compared with those without sarcopenia and NAFLD. Furthermore, sarcopenia was associated with a higher risk for cancer- and diabetes-related mortality among those with NAFLD. This association was not noted in those without NAFLD.

Here, we prepared the anionic di-oleoyl-phosphatidylserine (DOPS) and cardiolipin (CL) liposomes to interact with the β2 GPI. The conformational changes of β2 GPI upon binding with the liposomes were analyzed using hydrogen/deuterium exchange mass spectrometry. The exchange level of sequences 21-27 significantly increased after β2 GPI had interacted with DOPS. This change indicated a reduced interaction between domain I and domain V, inferring to a protrusion of the sequences 21-27 from the ring conformation. After β2 GPI had interacted with CL for 30 min, the exchange levels in 4 of the 5 domains increased significantly. The deuteration levels of sequences 1-20, 21-27, 196-205, 273-279 and 297-306 increased, suggesting that these regions had become more exposed, and the domain I was no longer in contact with domain V. The increasing deuteration levels in sequences 70-86, 153-162, 191-198, 196-205 and 273-279 indicated β2 GPI undergoing conformational changes to expose these inner regions, suggesting a structural transition. Overall, DOPS and CL induced minor conformational changes of β2 GPI at sequences 21-27 and forms an intermediate conformation after 10 min of interaction. After a complete protein-lipid interaction, high negatively charged CL membrane induced a major conformation transition of β2 GPI.

The author bases her argument on contemporary publications in medical journals, measures taken by British authorities to prevent air-raid shock, and contemporary case records. The narratives of air-raid shock - similarly to those of shell-shocked soldiers - reflect the feelings of terror and loss of control, and demonstrate the profound effect these experiences could have on individuals' mental health.
    To investigate the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT), macular RNFLT, ganglion cell layer (GCL), and inner plexiform layer (IPL) thickness in recovered COVID-19 patients compared to controls.

    Patients previously diagnosed with COVID-19 were included, while healthy patients formed the historic control group. All patients underwent an ophthalmological examination, including macular and optic nerve optical coherence tomography. In the case group, socio-demographic data, medical history, and neurological symptoms were collected.

    One hundred sixty patients were included; 90 recovered COVID-19 patients and 70 controls. COVID-19 patients presented increases in global RNFLT (mean difference 4.3; CI95% 0.8 to 7.7), nasal superior (mean difference 6.9; CI95% 0.4 to 13.4), and nasal inferior (mean difference 10.2; CI95% 2.4 to 18.1) sectors of peripapillary RNFLT. Macular RNFL showed decreases in COVID-19 patients in volume (mean difference -0.05; CI95% -0.08 to -0.02), superior inner (mean difference -1.4; CI95% -2.5 to -0.4), nasal inner (mean difference -1.1; CI95% -1.8 to -0.3), and nasal outer (mean difference -4.7; CI95% -7.0 to -2.4) quadrants. COVID-19 patients presented increased GCL thickness in volume (mean difference 0.04; CI95% 0.01 to 0.07), superior outer (mean difference 2.1; CI95% 0.8 to 3.3), nasal outer (mean difference 2.5; CI95% 1.1 to 4.0), and inferior outer (mean difference1.2; CI95% 0.1 to 2.4) quadrants.     To evaluate the surgical success and need for adjustment due to overcorrection in patients who undergo inferior oblique myectomy (IOM) combined with lateral rectus recession (LRc) for intermittent exotropia in the setting of inferior oblique overaction.

    A retrospective chart review was conducted of patients with intermittent exotropia who underwent LRc using adjustable sutures alone versus LRc combined with IOM between January 2010 and July 2018 at our institution. Binocular alignment was recorded before and within one week of surgery. Evaluation measures noted were surgical success (defined as distance alignment of ⩽10 prism diopters) and need for postoperative adjustment due to overcorrection.

    Of 48 patients, 24 underwent LRc alone and 24 underwent LRc combined with IOM; all 48 patients had adjustable sutures. Surgical success was significantly higher in the LRc alone group (91.6%) compared with the LRc with IOM group (62.5%) (
     = 0.036). The need for postoperative adjustment due to overcorrection waoblique overaction using LRc combined with IOM may lead to overcorrection and increased need for postoperative adjustment.
    During the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine use rapidly and dramatically increased for management of diabetes mellitus. It is unknown whether access to telemedicine care has been equitable during this time. This study aimed to identify patient-level factors associated with adoption of telemedicine for subspecialty diabetes care during the pandemic.

    We conducted an explanatory sequential mixed-methods study using data from a single academic medical center. We used multivariate logistic regression to explore associations between telemedicine use and demographic factors for patients receiving subspecialty diabetes care between March 19 and June 30, 2020. We then surveyed a sample of patients who received in-person care to understand why these patients did not use telemedicine.

Overall, participants experienced challenges in their sex lives after diagnosis and treatment of ***. The study results contribute to the nursing knowledge on sexual experiences after ***.

  • Combining the complex ordering ability of molecules with their local magnetic properties is a little-explored technique to tailor spin structures on surfaces. However, revealing the molecular geometry can be demanding. Nickelocene (Nc) molecules present a large spin-flip excitation leading to clear changes of conductance at the excitation-threshold bias. Using a superconducting tip, we have the energy resolution to detect small shifts of the Nc spin-flip excitation thresholds, permitting us to reveal the different individual environments of Nc molecules in an ordered layer. This knowledge allows us to reveal the adsorption configuration of a complex molecular structure formed by Nc molecules in different orientations and positions. As a consequence, we infer that Nc layers present a strong noncollinear magnetic-moment arrangement.The hydrophobic effect of alkyl group insertion into phospholipid bilayers is exploited in modifying and modulating vesicle structure. We show that amphiphilic polypeptoids (peptide mimics) with n-decyl side chains, which we term as hydrophobe-containing polypeptoids (HCPs), can insert the alkyl hydrophobes into the membrane bilayer of phospholipid-based vesicles. Such insertion leads to disruption of the liposomes and the formation of HCP-lipid complexes that are colloidally stable in aqueous solution. Interestingly, when these complexes are added to fresh liposomes, remnant uncomplexed hydrophobes (the n-decyl groups) bridge liposomes and fuse them. The fusion leads to the engulfing of liposomes and the formation of multilayered vesicles. The morphology of the liposome system can be changed from stopping fusion and forming clustered vesicles to the continued formation of multilayered liposomes simply by controlling the amount of the HCP-lipid complex added. The entire procedure occurs in aqueous systems without the addition of any other solvents. Surface texturing and tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) coatings are well-known surface-energy controllable treatments developed for low adhesion, low friction, and high wear resistance. In the present paper, we demonstrate the effect of reducing ceramic residues using nanotexturing, ta-C coatings, and their combination.     Combining the complex ordering ability of molecules with their local magnetic properties is a little-explored technique to tailor spin structures on surfaces. However, revealing the molecular geometry can be demanding. Nickelocene (Nc) molecules present a large spin-flip excitation leading to clear changes of conductance at the excitation-threshold bias. Using a superconducting tip, we have the energy resolution to detect small shifts of the Nc spin-flip excitation thresholds, permitting us to reveal the different individual environments of Nc molecules in an ordered layer. This knowledge allows us to reveal the adsorption configuration of a complex molecular structure formed by Nc molecules in different orientations and positions. As a consequence, we infer that Nc layers present a strong noncollinear magnetic-moment arrangement.The hydrophobic effect of alkyl group insertion into phospholipid bilayers is exploited in modifying and modulating vesicle structure. We show that amphiphilic polypeptoids (peptide mimics) with n-decyl side chains, which we term as hydrophobe-containing polypeptoids (HCPs), can insert the alkyl hydrophobes into the membrane bilayer of phospholipid-based vesicles. Such insertion leads to disruption of the liposomes and the formation of HCP-lipid complexes that are colloidally stable in aqueous solution. Interestingly, when these complexes are added to fresh liposomes, remnant uncomplexed hydrophobes (the n-decyl groups) bridge liposomes and fuse them. The fusion leads to the engulfing of liposomes and the formation of multilayered vesicles. The morphology of the liposome system can be changed from stopping fusion and forming clustered vesicles to the continued formation of multilayered liposomes simply by controlling the amount of the HCP-lipid complex added.   • Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a major complication in pregnancy. GDM is associated with a higher risk for adverse maternal-fetal outcomes. Associations between movement behavior, including physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB), and maternal-fetal outcomes are still unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate associations between movement behavior and adverse maternal-fetal outcomes in women with GDM. A total of 68 women with GDM (20-35 weeks, 32.1 ± 5.8 years) were included in this pilot case-control study. The cases were defined by the presence of an adverse composite maternal-fetal outcome (preterm birth, newborn large for gestational age, and neonatal hypoglycemia). Controls were defined as no adverse maternal-fetal outcome. PA intensities and domains, steps/day (pedometer), and SB were analyzed. A total of 35.3% of participants showed adverse maternal-fetal outcomes (n = 24). The controls showed a higher moderate-intensity PA level than the cases (7.5, 95%CI 3.6-22.9 vs. 3.1, 95%CI 0.4-10.3 MET-h/week; p = 0.04). The moderate-intensity PA level was associated with a lower risk for adverse maternal-fetal outcomes (OR 0.21, 95%CI 0.05-0.91). No significant associations were observed for other PA and SB measures (p > 0.05). In conclusion, moderate-intensity PA during pregnancy seems to have a protective role against adverse maternal-fetal outcomes in women with GDM.In this paper, we explore whether interparticle spacing affects steady-state and transient-state optical properties by comparing close-packed CdSe/ZnS-quantum dots (QDs) and CdSe/ZnS-QDs dispersed in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). High-pressure is an effective physical means to adjust the interparticle spacing of QDs, which may artificially expand the application of QDs further. The results under high-pressure indicate that it is the reduced interparticle spacing rather than the enhanced quantum confinement effect with volume compression that has a stronger effect on exciton relaxation of CdSe/ZnS-QDs. This work is hoped to help us further understand the effect of interparticle spacing among QDs in various integrated environments.This work deals with Cu-modified 1DTiO2 microrods (MRs) and their surface properties. The pristine lyophilized precursor Cu_1DTiO2, prepared by an environmentally friendly cryo-lyophilization method, was further annealed in the temperature interval from 500 to 950 °C. The microstructure of all samples was characterized by electron microscopy (SEM/EDS and HRTEM/SAED), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy, simultaneous DTA/TGA thermoanalytical measurement, and mass spectroscopy (MS). Special attention was paid to the surface structure and porosity. The 1D morphology of all annealed samples was preserved, but their surface roughness varied due to anatase-rutile phase transformation and the change of the nanocrystals habits due to nanocavities formation after releasing of confined ice-water. The introduction of 2 wt.% Cu as electronically active second species significantly reduced the direct bandgap of 1DTiO2 in comparison with undoped TiO2 and the standard Degussa TiO2_P25. All samples were tested for their UV absorption properties and H2 generation by PEC water splitting. In ****, Fendrr is essential for development of the heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal system; its homozygous loss causes embryonic or perinatal lethality. Importantly, deregulation of FENDRR expression has been causatively linked also to tumorigenesis, resistance to chemotherapy, fibrosis, and inflammatory diseases. First, to identify clear ethnic differences, we systematically compared the epidemiology, and the clinical, biological and genetic characteristics of MDS between Asian and Western countries over the last 20 years. Asian MDS cases show a 2- to 4-fold lower incidence and a 10-year younger age of onset compared to the Western cases. A higher proportion of Western MDS patients fall into the very low- and low-risk categories while the intermediate, high and very high-risk groups are more represented in Asian MDS patients according to the Revised International Prognostic Scoring System. Next, we investigated whether differences in prognostic risk scores could find their origin in differential cytogenetic profiles. We found that 5q deletion (del(5q)) aberrations and mutations in TET2, SF3B1, SRSF2 and IDH1/2 are more frequently reported in Western MDS patients while trisomy 8, del(20q), U2AF1 and ETV6 mutations are more frequent in Asian MDS patients.

It is widely accepted that the administration of local antibiotics within the pocket as well as extracellular matrices (ECMs) can be utilized to reduce the incidence of CIED infections. We describe a case where the use of an additional biological ECM scaffold sutured directly into the incision site was utilized in addition to a biological ECM pouch in order to reduce the risk of infection. We propose that biological ECM could be utilized to reinforce the incision site directly as well as ECM within the pocket to reduce the instances of CIED infections. Next, an initial analysis report lists all potential loopholes in its quantum-optical part. It is followed by interactions with the system manufacturer, testing and patching most loopholes, and re-assessing their status. Our protocol has been applied on multiple commercial quantum key distribution systems to improve their security. A detailed description of our methodology is presented with the example of a subcarrier-wave system. CLE family genes encode important short peptide hormones; however, the functions of these signaling polypeptides in cotton remain largely unknown. In the current work, we studied the effects of the CLE family genes on growth and development in cotton. Based on the presence of a conserved CLE motif of 13 amino acids, 93 genes were characterized as GhCLE gene family members, and these were subcategorized into 7 groups. A preliminary analysis of the cotton CLE gene family indicated that the activity of its members tends to be conserved in terms of both the 13-residue conserved domain at the C-terminus and their subcellular localization pattern. Among the 14 tested genes, the ectopic overexpression of GhCLE5GFP partially mimicked the phenotype of the clv3 mutant in Arabidopsis. GhCLE5 could affect the endogenous CLV3 in binding to the receptor complex, comprised of CLV1, CLV2, and CRN, in the yeast two-hybrid assay and split-luciferase assay. Silencing GhCLE5 in cotton caused a short seedling phenotype. Therefore, we concluded that the cotton GhCLE gene family is functionally conserved in apical shoot development regulation. Here, we develop a templated grain-growth approach to fabricate -textured Pb(In1/2Nb1/2)O3-Pb(Sc1/2Nb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 (PIN-PSN-PT) ceramics that contain a large amount of the refractory component Sc2O3, which has the ability to increase the Trt of the system. The high k33 of 85~89% and the greatly increased Trt of 160~200 °C are simultaneously achieved in the textured PIN-PSN-PT ceramics. The above merits will make textured PIN-PSN-PT ceramics an alternative to single crystals, benefiting the development of numerous advanced piezoelectric devices.

  • Regulating body temperature is a critical function for many animals. Ectotherms use multiple thermoregulatory behaviours, including habitat selection, sun-shade shuttling, posture, orientation, gaping, and panting. According to thermoregulatory control theory, gaping and postural behaviours should act in coordination with microhabitat selection, providing a fine-tuned counterbalance to more costly behaviours. However, gaping and panting have also been considered indicators of stress in lizards, which would counter a homeostatic thermoregulatory interpretation, especially during expression of voluntary behaviours. Careful adjustments in rostral orientation toward warmth have been observed in bearded dragons, analogous to well-described solar gain and solar avoidance postures in the wild. Little is known about the sensory drivers of these behaviours. Although skin temperature changes faster than core, it is not uniform across the body, and is subject to evaporative cooling, and thus could be crucial to directing behavioural thermoregulatory decision making. To examine the subtle coordination between thermoregulatory behaviours, and to test if inhibiting gaping would lead to thermoregulatory compensatory behaviours, bearded dragon lizards (Pogona vitticeps) were allowed to behaviourally thermoregulate, while their ability to show spontaneous gaping behaviour was disrupted non-pharmacologically. Gaping acted in concert with thermoregulatory behaviours, although at lower rates than predicted from earlier steady-state models, suggesting that respiratory cooling mechanisms are perceived as costly. Bearded dragons enhanced their rostral orientation to heat when gaping was inhibited, while reducing their selected temperatures in a thermal gradient. Combined, these observations indicate the presence of coordination between these various thermoregulatory behaviours.Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) are a model species for tropical fish physiology, but details are lacking about their ionoregulatory response to acid waters. To provide specifics, we measured unidirectional Na+ fluxes in low pH waters. Sodium influx ([Formula see text]) was uninhibited during acute exposure to pH 4.5 and 3.5, and Na efflux ([Formula see text]) rose only slightly at pH 3.5; net Na+ flux ([Formula see text]) remained positive at all pH. Similarly, during 24 h transfer to pH 3.5 [Formula see text], [Formula see text], and [Formula see text] were unchanged at all times. Taking a closer look at the mechanism of Na+ transport in the gills of tambaqui we found that [Formula see text] was uninhibited by HMA, a Na+/H+-exchanger blocker, and Benzamil, a Na+-channel inhibitor, casting doubt on their role in Na+ uptake in this fish. Measurement of Na+/K+-ATPase (NKA) and H+-ATPase (VHA) activity showed that neither changed at low pH compared to measurements at pH 6.5. Western blot analysis of ATPase expression saw no changes in amount of NKA and VHA at low pH, and immunohistochemistry showed expression of both NKA and VHA on lamellae and interlamellar region of tambaqui gills and that both proteins co-localized to the same gill cells. Location of expression also did not change in low pH water. Amazingly, tambaqui seem unaffected by pH 3.5 water, making them one of the most acid-tolerant fish species examined so far. Interleukin-15 (IL-15) is the key physiological cytokine that regulates γδ T cell differentiation, proliferation and survival. In this work, we determined that IL-15 have the capacity to enhance the anti-tumoral functions of γδ T cells. IL-15 can induce the upregulation of cytotoxicity-associated molecules on the γδ T cell surface, incite γδ T cell proliferation and decrease apoptosis. Moreover, the enhanced cytotoxicity of IL-15-induced γδ T cell was dependent on the interaction of NKG2D and ****. Most importantly, we found that IL-15-induced γδ T cells effectively suppressed the tumor growth in vivo and prolonged the survival time of RCC-bearing patient‑derived xenograft (PDX) ****. These results are important for the prospective use of γδ T cells in clinical practice when designing novel cell-based immunotherapies against RCC.
    Novel strategies to help adults with overweight/obesity increase motivation for becoming active are needed. This single-arm trial aimed to test the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a 4-h acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)-based workshop intervention for increasing moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) among insufficiently active adults with overweight/obesity.

    Participants (N = 41) received a 1-day 4-h ACT workshop followed by weekly e-mails and monthly phone calls for 3months. The primary outcome was change in accelerometer-measured MVPA minutes/day at 3 and 6 months. Process variables (i.e., autonomous motivation, PA acceptance) through which the ACT intervention was hypothesized to increase MVPA were assessed via questionnaires.

    Participants completed 91% of phone calls and 75% of e-mail surveys. Acceptability ratings were > 4.5 out of 5 for "understandable," "useful," and "intent-to-use" on all intervention components. Participants on average achieved significant increases in bouted and total MVPA at 3 months that were maintained at 6 months.

In this work, we determined that IL-15 have the capacity to enhance the anti-tumoral functions of γδ T cells. IL-15 can induce the upregulation of cytotoxicity-associated molecules on the γδ T cell surface, incite γδ T cell proliferation and decrease apoptosis. Moreover, the enhanced cytotoxicity of IL-15-induced γδ T cell was dependent on the interaction of NKG2D and MICA. Most importantly, we found that IL-15-induced γδ T cells effectively suppressed the tumor growth in vivo and prolonged the survival time of RCC-bearing patient‑derived xenograft (PDX) mice. These results are important for the prospective use of γδ T cells in clinical practice when designing novel cell-based immunotherapies against RCC. Novel strategies to help adults with overweight/obesity increase motivation for becoming active are needed. This single-arm trial aimed to test the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a 4-h acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)-based workshop intervention for increasing moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) among insufficiently active adults with overweight/obesity. Participants (N = 41) received a 1-day 4-h ACT workshop followed by weekly e-mails and monthly phone calls for 3months. The primary outcome was change in accelerometer-measured MVPA minutes/day at 3 and 6 months. Process variables (i.e., autonomous motivation, PA acceptance) through which the ACT intervention was hypothesized to increase MVPA were assessed via questionnaires. Participants completed 91% of phone calls and 75% of e-mail surveys. Acceptability ratings were > 4.5 out of 5 for "understandable," "useful," and "intent-to-use" on all intervention components. Participants on average achieved significant increases in bouted and total MVPA at 3 months that were maintained at 6 months.

Comprehensive consideration of electricity generation, denitrification, and service life, combined with cost analysis and better selection of construction materials, provides a theoretical basis for the long-term stable operation and sustainable application of ****.In current scenario, various heterocycles have come up exhibiting crucial role in various medicinal agents which are valuable for mankind. Out of diverse range of heterocycle, quinoline scaffold have been proved to play an important role in broad range of biological activities. Several drug molecules bearing a quinoline molecule with useful anticancer, antibacterial activities etc have been marketed such as chloroquine, saquinavir etc. Owing to their broad spectrum biological role, various synthetic strategies such as Skraup reaction, Combes reaction etc. has been developed by the researchers all over the world. But still the synthetic methods are associated with various limitations as formation of side products, use of expensive metal catalysts. Thus, several efforts to develop an efficient and cost effective synthetic protocol are still carried out till date. Moreover, quinoline scaffold displays remarkable antiviral activity. Therefore, in this review we have made an attempt to describe recent synthetic protocols developed by various research groups along with giving a complete explanation about the role of quinoline derivatives as antiviral agent. Quinoline derivatives were found potent against various strains of viruses like zika virus, enterovirus, herpes virus, human immunodeficiency virus, ebola virus, hepatitis C virus, SARS virus and MERS virus etc.This work aimed to isolate a series of bacterial strains associated with the green seaweed Ulva sp. and evaluate their capability to manufacture PHA. The effect of the type of supplemented sugars found to be in macroalgae, on the growth and PHA productivity of the strains was studied. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the isolated strains revealed that the PHA-producing bacteria were phylogenetically related to the genus Cobetia, Bacillus, Pseudoaltermonas and Sulfitobacter, which showed high PHA contents among the isolates. The highest PHA content was observed in the case of Cobetia strain, with up to 61% w/w in the presence of mannitol and 12% w/w on Ulva sp. acid hydrolysate as a substrate.Two different technological process configurations for producing bioethanol from corn stover, namely, enzymatic hydrolysis for sugar production followed by fermentation (P1) and nonenzymatic chemical hydrolysis and subsequent fermentation (P2), were analyzed by a rigorous life cycle assessment. Three environmental impact categories (climate change (CC), fossil depletion (FD), and air pollutant (AP)) were estimated for the both process configurations on a system level. The "best-practice" case with a real scenario of the United States of America indicates that P2 is the most promising strategy from the perspectives of CC, FD, and AP. Considerable savings were achieved by P2 1.34 kg CO2-eq/gallon of gasoline equivalent (GGE) for CC, 0.12 MJ/GGE for FD, and 0.24-0.94 g particle matters/GGE for AP. The robustness of the environmental impact results was validated by a scenario uncertainty analysis, and its results indicated that the corn stover composition is crucial.To protect microalgae that are used for photosynthetic CO2 fixation against high NO concentrations from coal-fired flue gas, 500 μM exogenous spermidine was added into Chlorella sp. solution resulting in an elevation of biomass yield by 30.5% under 327 ppm NO. Metabolomics, proteomics and enzyme activities were analyzed, revealing three effects of spermidine on Chlorella sp. resistance to NO stress. First, spermidine induced NO fixation in amino acids and their metabolites, mainly in form of 5-oxoproline (1.51-fold), which occurred through intracellular conversion reactions between citrulline and arginine. Accordingly, cellular respiration was strengthened along with a weakened NO inhibition, which enhanced active transport with ATP consumption. Second, spermidine guarded Chlorella sp. against peroxidation damage by improving activity of antioxidant enzymes. Finally, it protected the photosynthetic system of Chlorella sp. by increasing abundance of related enzymes to enhance carbon fixation. In the maturation phase of composting, the relative abundance of pathogenic and symbiotrophic fungi decreased by 68%-85% and 145%-622%, respectively, as compared to the initial phase, which showed 574%-720% increase in the saprotrophic guild. The pathogenic and saprotrophic fungi abundance was correlated to compost maturity represented by germination index and humic spectroscopic ratio (p less then 0.05). Random forest analysis and structural equation modeling elucidated the positive effects of the aforementioned fungal taxa on compost maturity, and these effects were mediated by the micro-environmental variables, such as temperature, NH4+-N/NO3--N ratio and total organic carbon content. Our study outlines the importance of fungal community succession for improving composting performance and efficiency.

  • Thrombosis occurred in 67 patients during worsening clinical condition and in 26 during recovery. Anticoagulant therapy was provided to 893 patients (14.6% of the 6,119 patients with available data), the main reasons being provided as elevated D-dimer levels and worsening clinical condition.
    The categories in the comprehensive lipid and risk management guidelines were proposed by the Japan Atherosclerosis Society (JAS Guidelines 2017), which adopted the estimated 10 year absolute risk of coronary artery disease (***) incidence in the Suita score. We examined whether those categories were concordant with the degree of arterial stiffness.

    In 2014, the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI), an arterial stiffness parameter, was measured in 1,972 Japanese participants aged 35-74 years in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. We examined the mean CAVI and the proportion and odds ratios (ORs) of CAVI ≥ 9.0 on the basis of the following three management classifications using the analysis of variance and logistic regression "Category I (Low risk)," "Category II (Middle risk)," and "Category III (High risk)."

    The mean CAVI and proportion of CAVI ≥ 9.0 were 8.6 and 34.8% among males and 8.1 and 18.3% among females, respectively. The mean CAVI and proportion of CAVI ≥ 9.0 were associated with an estimated 10 year absolute risk for *** among males and females, excluding High risk for females. These results were similar to the management classification by the guideline the multivariable-adjusted ORs (95% confidence intervals) of CAVI ≥ 9.0 among Category II and Category III compared with those among Category I were 2.96 (1.61-5.43) and 7.33 (4.03-13.3) for males and 3.99 (2.55-6.24) and 3.34 (2.16-5.16) for females, respectively.

Twenty individuals from the intervention group and twenty-nine from the control group were included in the final analysis. The changes in ** from 2014 to 2018 were compared between the two groups using a linear mixed-effects model.Results The effect of the program on **, estimated as a change from the baseline in 2014, showed a reduction of -5.6×103 yen/person (95% CI -39.2-28.0) for the entire four-year period after the intervention. However, this difference was not significant. The changes in ** each year after the intervention were 9.3×103 yen/person (95% CI -39.6-58.3) in 2015, -2.0×103 yen/person (95% CI -44.4-40.5) in 2016, -10.3×103 yen/person (95% CI -42.5-21.9) in 2017, and 8.2×103 yen/person (95% CI -39.1-55.4) in 2018.Conclusion The exercise program did not show a clear benefit in reducing the ** of elderly community-dwellers during the four years after the intervention. We investigated the risk factors associated with falls among elderly survivors in disaster-stricken areas using longitudinal data from the Research project for the prospective Investigation of health problems Among Survivors of the Great East Japan Earthquake (RIAS) Study.Methods Of all data obtained from the RIAS Study, we used the data of 1,380 survivors who were aged ≥65 years, were not diagnosed with cancer or cardiovascular disease, did not need supportive care, and could participate in the annual survey between 2011 and 2016. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed, and anthropometric and grip tests were performed during the 2011 survey to obtain innd a history of smoking (OR 4.30, 95%CI 1.08-17.14) were significantly associated with falls. In women aged ≥75 years, partial housing damage (OR 7.93, 95%CI 1.85-33.91) and psychological distress (OR 2.83, 95%CI 1.09-.7.37) were also significantly associated with falls.Conclusion This study suggests that cognitive dysfunction in both sexes and insomnia, dyslipidemia, and a history of smoking in women were significantly associated with falls, and partial housing damage and psychological distress were risk factors for falls in women aged ≥75 years.   • The design of efficient chiral catalysts is of crucial importance since it allows generating enantiomerically pure compounds. Tremendous efforts have been made over the past decades regarding the development of materials with enantioselective properties for various potential applications ranging from sensing to catalysis and separation. Unlike traditional ferroelectric/ferroelastic materials, the cluster-ion based supersalts possess ultra-low switching barrier and can endure large ion displacements and reversible strain. In particular, PH4FeBr4 exhibits triferroic coupling of ferroelectricity, ferroelasticity, and antiferromagnetism with controllable spin directions via either ferroelastic or 90-degree ferroelectric switching.

Scale consisted on three sub scales which are used to assess the cognitive symptoms, behavior and physiological symptoms through CFA value and alpha reliability. Sample of adequacy is .965, Confirmatory Factor Analysis value .914, alpha reliability .974 were taken as standard. In cognitive symptoms subscale's alpha was 0.958, Behavior subscale .943 and Physiological symptoms subscale alpha was α .912.

    The prevalence of anxiety in 20-29 years individuals exhibited 17.5% (male 38.8%; female 62.2) symptoms of anxiety. 30-39 Years people showed 12.9% (male =56.9%; female=43.1%) , 40-49 years individuals showed 16.5% of anxiety and in late adulthood 50-60 years old people showed highest level of anxiety 22.10% (male=68.3%; female= 31.7).

    From January 2018 to January 2020, 80 patients who met the research criteria in the First Central Hospital of Baoding, China were selected. According to the time of onset, they were divided into test group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. Forty patients in the test group were beyond time window (6~24h) and the MRI showed a DWI-FLAIR mismatch. Forty patients in the control group were within the time window (< 6h). All patients received endovascular treatment (EVT). The mRS, NIHSS and infarct volume of patients in the test group were compared and analyzed before and 30 and 90 days after treatment, as well as the indicators of both groups of patients before and after treatment, to determine therapeutic effect in patients receiving EVT beyond time window. Meanwhile, the recanalization of the blood vessel and the incidence of cerebral hemorre window and large vessel occlusion. It has the advantages of short examination time, non-invasiveness, no need for contrast agents, simple implementation, clear guidance.

Two raters assessed isometric strength of lumbar flexor and extensor muscles, by a hand-held dynamometer. Strength was measured and recorded by each of the two raters and re-assessed after a week. Correlation and pairwise comparison were done between readings. ICC values were calculated for the assessment of isometric lumbar muscle strength using handheld dynamometer.

    A total of 30 healthy subjects had participated with mean age of 22.84±1.21 years, height 174.33±6.83 cm, weight 68.58±5.08 kg and BMI 22.52±0.35. Findings showed an excellent intra-rater (ICC 2, k = 0.95 to 0.97) and inter-rater (ICC 2, k = 0.94 to 0.95) reliability.
