First, these sensors are integrated in a multisensor platform which is installed inside a lid and covered with a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) membrane of class H14 for sterilization of bacteria and viruses. The observations of sensors are then transmitted by a wireless XBee network where the slave sensor node is fixed at the top of jar lid and the master radio node receives data and uploads to an on-site monitoring node. The acquired information is further transmitted to an iCloud database and displayed in a web-based monitoring system. The results illustrate the proposed wireless multisensor module was validated with sufficient accuracy, reliable confidence and well-tolerance for C. militaris cultivation biotechnology under aseptic conditions.Honey is a natural food widely consumed due to its high content in nutrients and bioactive substances. In this study, we proposed a rapid, simple, and cheap analytical method, based on salting-out assisted liquid-liquid extraction coupled with UHPLC MS/MS detection for the accurate determination of CAP in honey to be used in routine analyses. The parameters that influence the extraction efficiency have been optimized using an experimental design in order to maximize the recovery of the analyte by reducing the matrix effects. Therefore, the developed method was internally validated according to the 2002/657/EC Decision guidelines and applied to the analysis of 96 honey samples.High-throughput transcriptomic profiling approaches have revealed that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are important transcriptional gene products, identified across a broad range of organisms throughout the eukaryotic tree of life. These features suggested that circRNAs are key components of an important layer of neuronal gene expression regulation, with known and anticipated functions. Here, we review major recognized aspects of circRNA biogenesis, metabolism and biological activities, examining potential new functions in the context of the nervous system.In the heat exchangers of sodium-cooled fast reactors, sodium flow can cause the tubes to vibrate, resulting in fretting wear damage due to the contact between the tubes (2.25Cr-1Mo steel) and their support plate (Gr5C12 alloy). As the importance of contextual information grows, mobile AR makes it easier for consumers to visually examine products virtually placed in their existing physical spaces. Despite the popularity and potential of mobile AR in commerce, there is a lack of research confirming that, in terms of providing consumers with shopping experiences, mobile AR is a more influential tool than the traditional method of product presentation. Based on the experience economy and task-media fit theories, this study examines the effect of AR information in mobile shopping on consumer learning, including enjoyment, compared to that of two-dimensional and three-dimensional information. Moreover, we examine the moderating effect of product type on this relationship. We conducted experiments with 212 participants to confirm these relationships. Our results revealed that AR information helps improve consumer learning and purchase intention in mobile environments, and the effect of AR is stronger for experience products than for search products.Background Emerging studies manifested that exosomal RNAs had pivotal roles in human cancer therapies. Methods Exosomes were isolated by ExoQuick® method and ultracentrifugation and then identified through transmission electron microscope and the examination of exosome markers. Related proteins were detected using western blot. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied for measuring circ-PVT1, microRNA-30a-5p (miR-30a-5p), and Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) expression. The half inhibitory concentration (IC50) of DDP was assessed by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-y1)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT). Cell apoptosis and invasion were, respectively, determined using flow cytometry and transwell assay. Target relationship was confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay. The impact of circ-PVT1 on DDP resistance was explored via xenograft tumor assay. Results Exosomal circ-PVT1 was upregulated while miR-30a-5p was downregulated in DDP-resistant GC serums and cells. Circ-PVT1 knockdown repressed DDP resistance in DDP-resistant GC cells via promoting apoptosis and decreasing invasion or autophagy by negatively targeting miR-30a-5p. In fact, Temporal Self-Appraisal Theory ("Chump to Champ") has found that people are motivated to derogate their past selves in favor of their present selves. Studies on temporal self-appraisals following trauma is less clear, with some studies showing perceived improvement whereas other studies show appraisals of decline.
Utilizing Latent Profile Analysis (LPA), we tested for discrete patterns of temporal self-appraisals in undergraduate college students (N=740) following trauma exposure. We then explored various trauma-related characteristics as predictors of profile membership.
LPA revealed three distinct profiles of appraisal styles (Profile 1 optimistic, Profile 2 chump to champ, Profile 3pessimistic). The optimistic profile was associated with lower levels of PTSD and depression symptoms, whereas the optimistic and chump to champ profiles were associated with greater trauma centrality.
Findings are limited in that this study utilized cross-sectional data from a sample of predominantly undergraduate females, thus conclusions regarding temporal relations among study constructs cannot be made and findings may not generalize to other populations.
Temporal self-appraisals following trauma exposure may reflect prototypical patterns in which individual appraise adaptation to potentially traumatic stress and may confer risk for psychopathology. Such findings have implications for approaches to intervention with clinical and non-clinical populations following trauma exposure.

Except for suicide risk, the prevalence of other psychological disorders in frontline medical staff were higher than those in general population (all p<0.01). Among the frontr all measured psychological disturbances, and some other variables may be involved in certain psychological disturbances of frontline medical staff.

Increase in incidence of stress and depression in antenatal period has been reported. Autonomic changes in pregnancy and its dysfunction in depression are well documented. However, there is lack of evidence associating cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction to stress and depressed mood in pregnant women.
In this correlation study, we assessed cardiovascular autonomic functions of 172 pregnant women using heart rate variability (HRV) and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS). The Edinburg postnatal depression scale (EPDS) was used to evaluate depressive symptoms and perceived stress scale (PSS) was used to assess stress. The HRV and BRS parameters were correlated with EPDS and PSS. Multiple regression analysis was performed for EPDS and PSS individually to study their association with cardiac autonomic functions(CAF).
HRV and BRS were well correlated to EPDS and PSS scores. The depression and stress were found to be significantly associated to autonomic dysfunctions as increased sympathetic and decreased parasympathetic activity. Among various CAF parameters, LFHF ratio and BRS were found to be significantly associated with depression and stress among these women.

Studies on temporal self-appraisals following trauma is less clear, with some studies showing perceived improvement whereas other studies show appraisals of decline. Utilizing Latent Profile Analysis (LPA), we tested for discrete patterns of temporal self-appraisals in undergraduate college students (N=740) following trauma exposure. We then explored various trauma-related characteristics as predictors of profile membership. LPA revealed three distinct profiles of appraisal styles (Profile 1 optimistic, Profile 2 chump to champ, Profile 3pessimistic). The optimistic profile was associated with lower levels of PTSD and depression symptoms, whereas the optimistic and chump to champ profiles were associated with greater trauma centrality. Findings are limited in that this study utilized cross-sectional data from a sample of predominantly undergraduate females, thus conclusions regarding temporal relations among study constructs cannot be made and findings may not generalize to other populations. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide. Episodes of acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD) are associated with disease severity and progression. Although substantial progress has been made in understanding the dynamics of AECOPD, little is known about the sputum microbiome of AECOPD in the Chinese population.
In this study, we characterized the sputum microbiomes from sputum specimens collected from healthy controls (n = 10), stable (n = 4), AECOPD (n = 36), and recovery (n = 18) stages by sequencing the V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene with a HiSeq sequencer.
Streptococcus was the most dominant genus among all the different types of sputum. A random forest model was developed to identify bacterial taxa that differentiate AECOPD samples from others. Most of the top predictors, except Pseudomonas, were less abundant in AECOPD samples. We also developed random forest models to differentiate subtypes of AECOPD based on blood eosinophil counts, the frequency of AECOPD, and sputum eosinophils. Bacterial taxa associated with Pasteurellaceae, Fusobacterium, Solobacterium, Haemophilus, Atopobium, Corynebacterium and Streptococcus, were enriched in the sputum microbiomes of eosinophilic AECOPD. Random forest models also demonstrate that a total of 2 bacterial OTUs were needed to differentiate frequent from non-frequent AECOPDs, and 23 OTUs were enough to accurately predict sputum-eosinophilic (sputum eosinophilic concentration ≥ 3%) AECOPD.

Recently, left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) has been shown to be feasible. However, the right ventricular (RV) implantation site for LBBAP remains elusive. We believe that the RV implantation site should be located at the posteromedial basal septum, and in this paper, we propose a new method to help guide lead implantation. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.
The RV implantation site was positioned by a combination of a nine-grid system on fluoroscopy and the use of intracardiac echocardiogram (ICE) and then verified by ICE.
Fifteen patients were enrolled for LBBAP using our method. The acute success rate was 86.7% (13/15), which demonstrated that our method is useful for assisting with lead implantation. According to ICE, the distance between the implantation site and apex (the front) and the distance between the implantation site and tricuspid annulus (the ****) were 44.9 ± 10.7 and 33.2 ± 10.4 mm, respectively, and the ratio of the front and the **** whod for assisting with lead implantation. It is feasible and safe to use a nine-grid system combined with ICE for LBBAP.

This process is carried out by a super-protein complex defined as the spliceosome. Specifically, splicing factor 1/branchpoint binding protein (SF1/BBP) is a single protein that can bind to the intronic branchpoint sequence (BPS), connecting the 5' and 3' splice site binding complexes during early spliceosome assembly. The molecular function of this protein has been extensively investigated in yeast, metazoa and mammals. However, its counterpart in plants has been seldomly reported.

According to the thermodynamic investigation, the MV adsorption was an exothermic and spontaneous process. The mesoporous composite had good reusability to remove MV dye from liquid media up to 5 steps. Bio-HAp particles and Bio-HAp/MgO mesoporous composites were tested for treatment, which significantly reduced the dye content of the real sample.Mining is an important activity for the economic development of many countries. However, this activity produces toxic residues that pollute water and the environment. The heavy metal removal from effluents of acid mine water is crucial to avoid environmental pollution. The microalga Nannochloropsis oculata was cultured in algal medium, with the addition of 1.16, 1.74, 2.32, 3.48, and 4.64 mg Cu2+ L-1 coming from acid mine water to assess its removal capacity and the effect of copper content on the cell density and lipid productivity. The results showed that N. oculata removed up to 94.88 ± 0.43% at copper concentration than 1.74 mg Cu2+ L-1; additionally, a positive effect on the lipid content was found at copper concentration to be higher, 4.64 mg Cu2+ L-1, yielding 77.04 ± 2.60% of lipid content, twice as high as that achieved in the control culture of 33.058 ± 5.398%, thus potentiating the biodiesel production. These findings are favorable because they indicate that microalgae can remove copper added in the culture and present in acid mine water and can yield high lipid content at the same time. In view of the different findings concerning causality and the character of the relationships between these variables revealed in our review of past studies (in most cases using quite different methods), this paper utilizes several different but related methodological approaches for identifying causal relationships. These include both the Toda and Yamamoto (1995) approach, the Fourier Toda-Yamamoto for Cumulative Frequency approach developed by Nazlioglu et al. (2016), vector error correction model (VECM) methodology, and the asymmetric Granger causality test proposed by Hatemi-J (Empir Econ 43447-456, Hatemi-j 2012). Our results show that, when we apply the popular Toda-Yamamoto model, causality in these relationships is not confirmed even among any of the relevant variables in Turkey. Yet, when the Fourier Toda-Yamamoto tests for cumulative frequency are employed, we find unidirectional causality running from GDP per capita to emissions of CO2 per capita. Moreover, when we utilize the VECM methodology, the results show that long-run causality exists from GDP per capita and energy to CO2 emissions. When we apply the asymmetric causality tests, the results provide even stronger evidence for a unidirectional causal relationship from GDP per capita to CO2 emissions. As a result, the latter sets of results, based on more realistic conditions, suggest very strongly that, if Turkey is to meet the objectives of its ambitious Climate Change Action Plan commitment to the United Nations to reduce its CO2 per capita emissions relative to its past trends by up to 21% over the coming 2021-2030 decade, it is going to get very serious about the best way to do this as soon as possible.Using the quantile GARCH model estimators to gauge the bidirectional risk magnitude and the Granger causality test in risk distributions to detect the existence of risk spillovers, this paper explores the extreme risk spillovers of China's regional carbon markets to local listed firm's stock returns. From the perspectives of macro region level and micro firm level, the findings are outlined as follows. First, among the top three active carbon trading pilots (Hubei, Guangdong, and Shenzhen), Hubei pilot exhibits significant "low risk and high profit" features. Second, the predominant risk spillover effects to local listed firms are heterogeneous across pilots. The adsorption performance of the prepared adsorbents was studied in a batch mode. Adsorption kinetics and isotherm models were applied in the experimental data to evaluate the nature as well as the mechanism of adsorption processes. It was deduced that the adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order rate equation and Langmuir isotherm models. The maximum adsorption capacities were found to be 1109.55 and 1081.60 mg/g for CMC-cl-pAA hydrogel and CMC-cl-pAA/Fe3O4-C30B hydrogel nanocomposite, respectively.
The pseudo-second-order (R2 > 0.97) was more potent than the other models for modeling kinetic data. The microalga Nannochloropsis oculata was cultured in algal medium, with the addition of 1.16, 1.74, 2.32, 3.48, and 4.64 mg Cu2+ L-1 coming from acid mine water to assess its removal capacity and the effect of copper content on the cell density and lipid productivity. The results showed that N. oculata removed up to 94.88 ± 0.43% at copper concentration than 1.74 mg Cu2+ L-1; additionally, a positive effect on the lipid content was found at copper concentration to be higher, 4.64 mg Cu2+ L-1, yielding 77.04 ± 2.60% of lipid content, twice as high as that achieved in the control culture of 33.058 ± 5.398%, thus potentiating the biodiesel production. These findings are favorable because they indicate that microalgae can remove copper added in the culture and present in acid mine water and can yield high lipid content at the same time. The cell density and growth rate decreased with increased concentrations of copper in the culture medium.Given that Turkey has recently committed itself for the first time to reducing its CO2 emissions in the interest of sustainable growth in not only Turkey but also the world as a whole, this paper examines the relationship between energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and economic growth in Turkey for the period 1960-2014. In view of the different findings concerning causality and the character of the relationships between these variables revealed in our review of past studies (in most cases using quite different methods), this paper utilizes several different but related methodological approaches for identifying causal relationships. These include both the Toda and Yamamoto (1995) approach, the Fourier Toda-Yamamoto for Cumulative Frequency approach developed by Nazlioglu et al. (2016), vector error correction model (VECM) methodology, and the asymmetric Granger causality test proposed by Hatemi-J (Empir Econ 43447-456, Hatemi-j 2012). Our results show that, when we apply the popular Toda-Yamamoto model, causality in these relationships is not confirmed even among any of the relevant variables in Turkey. Yet, when the Fourier Toda-Yamamoto tests for cumulative frequency are employed, we find unidirectional causality running from GDP per capita to emissions of CO2 per capita. Moreover, when we utilize the VECM methodology, the results show that long-run causality exists from GDP per capita and energy to CO2 emissions. When we apply the asymmetric causality tests, the results provide even stronger evidence for a unidirectional causal relationship from GDP per capita to CO2 emissions. As a result, the latter sets of results, based on more realistic conditions, suggest very strongly that, if Turkey is to meet the objectives of its ambitious Climate Change Action Plan commitment to the United Nations to reduce its CO2 per capita emissions relative to its past trends by up to 21% over the coming 2021-2030 decade, it is going to get very serious about the best way to do this as soon as possible.Using the quantile GARCH model estimators to gauge the bidirectional risk magnitude and the Granger causality test in risk distributions to detect the existence of risk spillovers, this paper explores the extreme risk spillovers of China's regional carbon markets to local listed firm's stock returns. From the perspectives of macro region level and micro firm level, the findings are outlined as follows. First, among the top three active carbon trading pilots (Hubei, Guangdong, and Shenzhen), Hubei pilot exhibits significant "low risk and high profit" features. Second, the predominant risk spillover effects to local listed firms are heterogeneous across pilots. The possibility of ocular secretions as source for SARS-CoV-2 to spread externally has substantial public health implications.Ocular lesions in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are commonly due to underlying opportunistic infections. With highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), infectious lesions have reduced and noninfectious ocular manifestations including drug-related side effects have been noted. While retinal toxicity has been noted with few other HAART drugs, there are not many on the same with Efavirenz usage. We report a series of five patients with possible efavirenz-related retinal toxicity, visual function abnormalities, and its management. Efavirenz was replaced with alternate anti-retroviral drug. Reversal of ocular side effects were noted subjectively in the form of symptom amelioration of the patients. Objectively, it could be documented with electroretinogram changes and other visual function tests reverting **** to normal after change in HAART regime. Early identification of this uncommon side effect in select patients can prevent irreversible vision loss due to efavirenz-associated retinal toxicity.

UGN-101 is a novel drug in development for the treatment of UTUCs; it is composed of a sustained-release hydrogel polymer-based formulation containing the antitumor antibiotic mitomycin-C (MM-C); cold UGN-101 is liquid, but at body temperature, it becomes a gel, and thus, when administered through a ureteral catheter, it sticks to the upper tract urothelium, slowly releasing MM-C.
Here, the authors review the preclinical rationale for the development of UGN-101, as well as presently available clinical results for the treatment of low-grade UTUCs.
The positive results of the recently completed OLYMPUS trial suggest the feasibility, activity (59% of complete responses, with just 6 of these complete responders on follow-up who recurred), and safety (68% of patients experiencing mild to moderate urinary adverse events) of UGN-101 instillations into the upper urinary tract. To look at markers to differentiate ocular sarcoidosis from ocular tuberculosis in a high TB endemic population.
Retrospective multicenter study involving seven tertiary eyecare centers in India between July 2016 to December 2016. Demographic, clinical and laboratory data were retrieved from respective hospital databases. Group A included biopsy-proven ocular sarcoidosis while group B included ocular tuberculosis.
Data from 2726 consecutive patients with uveitis were retrieved from the databases. Group A had 61 cases while group B included 307 cases. The mean age in group A was 43±16.55years while in group B was 38±13.13years. Females were more common in group A. Uveitis with low Schirmer test (OR-30, CI-95%), candlewax retinal vasculitis (OR-8.69, CI-95%), hilar lymphadenopathy (OR-15.23, CI-95%), fissural nodules (OR-39.11, CI-95%) had higher odds of having ocular sarcoidosis.
Presence of dry eye, candlewax retinal vasculitis, hilar lymphadenopathy, and fissural nodules if present in a patient with uveitis, could help differentiate ocular sarcoidosis from ocular tuberculosis in a high TB endemic population.

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is the most common malignancy in children. With improved supportive care and a better understanding of the disease biology, it is now a curable cancer in the developed world. However, in low-income countries, the cure rate remains relatively poor. We report our experience on the survival of children with ALL treated on the MRD-based risk-stratified UKALL 2003 protocol, from a center in South India.
All consecutive children diagnosed with ALL between years 2013 and 2019 were included in this retrospective study. All received uniform treatment as per the UKALL 2003 protocol based on NCI risk and post-induction MRD status. All the details including the type of leukemia, NCI risk status, date of diagnosis, treatment start date, the regimen, MRD status, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, and complications were captured. Analysis was done using prism GraphPad version 8.0.
A total of 107 children were started on treatment during this period. The majority of them were boys (68/107).

The inclusion of physical health dimensions was perceived as positive, but some patients considered the descriptive system too generic. The results indicate that these patients in general could self-report their health in a meaningful way with the EQ-5D-Y-5L instrument.

Health care teams are increasingly forced to navigate complex challenges to achieve their collective aim of delivering high-quality, safe patient care. The teamwork literature has struggled to develop strategies that promote effective adaptive behaviours among health care teams. In part, this challenge stems from the fact that truly collective adaptive behaviour requires members of the teams to abandon the human urge to act self-sufficiently. Nature contains striking examples of collective behaviour as seen in social insects, fish and bird colonies. This collective behaviour is known as Swarm Intelligence (SI). SI remains poorly described in the health care team literature and its potential benefits hidden.
In this cross-cutting edge paper, I explore the principles of SI as they pertain to systemic or collective adaptation in human teams. In particular, I consider the principles of trace-based communication and collective self-healing and what they might offer to team adaptation researchers in medical eduallowing teams to rely on indirect communication and to be interchangeable might create discomfort to our ways of thinking, teams outside health care are demonstrating their value to advance human teamwork. SI offers a helpful analogy and a constructive language for thinking about team adaptation.In the literature of statistical analysis with missing data there is a significant gap in statistical inference for missing data mechanisms especially for nonmonotone missing data, which has essentially restricted the use of the estimation methods which require estimating the missing data mechanisms. For example, the inverse probability weighting methods (Horvitz & Thompson, 1952; Little & Rubin, 2002), including the popular augmented inverse probability weighting (Robins et al, 1994), depend on sufficient models for the missing data mechanisms to reduce estimation bias while improving estimation efficiency. This research proposes a semiparametric likelihood method for estimating missing data mechanisms where an EM algorithm with closed form expressions for both E-step and M-step is used in evaluating the estimate (Zhao et al, 2009; Zhao, 2020). The asymptotic variance of the proposed estimator is estimated from the profile score function. The methods are general and robust. Simulation studies in various missing data settings are performed to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed method. Finally, we analysis the missing data mechanism of Duke cardiac catheterization coronary artery disease diagnostic data to illustrate the method.
Oral mucositis (OM) is one of the main adverse effects of the chemotherapeutic agent methotrexate (MTX).
To evaluate the relationship of OM with MTX metabolism time and other toxicities in childhood, cancer patients receiving high-dose of methotrexate (HD-MTX).
Seventy-seven childhood patients receiving HD-MTX for treatment of leukaemia, osteosarcoma or lymphoma were evaluated. MTX serum level, hepatic and renal function parameters, and presence and intensity of OM were analysed.
The patients were submitted to 255 cycles of chemotherapy. OM was diagnosed in 191 (74.9%) cycles. Of these, 119 (46.6%) presented ulcerative lesions. Lymphoma was associated with severe OM (P=.01). OM was associated with higher serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (P=.006), alanine aminotransferase (P=.04) and creatinine (P=.008). Increase of one unit of total bilirubin and indirect bilirubin associated, respectively, with 11% and 39% higher prevalence of OM. For each increase of one unit of creatinine serum level, it was observed a 37% higher prevalence of OM in patients with lymphoma. No association was found between delayed excretion of MTX and OM development.
OM is a prevalent complication of childhood cancer patients receiving HD-MTX. Renal and hepatic toxicity could be considered risk factors for OM, especially in patients with lymphoma.

It also significantly (p less then .05) ameliorated lipid parameters in HCHF diet fed rats preventing hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia, resulting in improved the artherogenic index (AI). It significantly elevated superoxide dismutase (***) and catalase (CAT) activities as well as increased reduced glutathione (GSH) concentration in liver. The intense liver fat deposition was seen in HCHF fed rats which were relatively low in H. indicum fed rats. Therefore, H. indicum has the ability to prevent obesity and associated metabolic disorders. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS Obesity and associated metabolic disorders are the most common threats to public health. Modern lifestyle and food habits are the main causes behind this malice, and the introduction of functional foods in daily diet is proved to be highly beneficial. Results of this study demonstrated that H. indicum can effectively attenuate obesity and its associated metabolic complications. Therefore, the current study has the merits to promote scientific knowledge of the dietary application of H. indicum as a functional food among the community.

OM was diagnosed in 191 (74.9%) cycles. Of these, 119 (46.6%) presented ulcerative lesions. Lymphoma was associated with severe OM (P=.01). OM was associated with higher serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (P=.006), alanine aminotransferase (P=.04) and creatinine (P=.008). We evaluated the anthropometric data, body composition, glycemic parameters, and PhA of 321 T2DM patients aged 30-83 years. The patients were classified by sex into men (n = 133) and women (n = 188). General linear models identified the independent effects of PhA after covarying for age, sex and BMI. The PhA, body cell mass (BCM), extracellular mass (ECM), lean body mass, intracellular water (ICW), extracellular water (ECW), total body water (TBW), fasting blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) of T2DM Korean patients were significantly higher in men than in women. However, fat mass, ECM/BCM, ECW/ICW, ECW/TBW, and serum insulin were significantly higher in women than in men. Statistically significant independent associations were observed between PhA and age, BCM, ECM, ECM/BCM, ICW, ECW, ECW/ICW, and ECW/TBW for both sexes. Multivariable logistic regression models were used with NAFLD as the dependent and deciles of daily nuts intake as an independent variables. Range of age was 18 to 75 years. Forty three percent of participants were male. Range of nuts intake was between 0 to 90.90 g/day. In model 3, after adjusting for potential confounding variables including, age, sex, BMI, alcohol consumption, smoking, diabetes and physical activity, the relation between daily nuts intake and risk of NAFLD was positive and significant in the deciles 9 and 10 compared to the lowest decile (odds ratio [OR], 3.22; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.04-7.49; p = 0.039 and OR, 3.03; 95% CI, 1.03-8.90; p = 0.046, respectively). However, in the final model after additional adjusting for energy intake, no significant association was found. Using the Färe-Primont index and instrumental variable fixed effect estimation for the data of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this study considers if receiving government financial support enables SMEs in Vietnam to become more productive. The paper discovers no evidence of linkage between financial support and firm productivity. However, access to financial support improves technological progress and growth in firm scale but has a negative effect on improvement in technical efficiency. The estimation results reveal that the use of productivity as an aggregated index in previous studies may hide the real effect of government support on firm productivity.This paper analyzes the evolution of CDS spread and CDS volatility around European sovereign rating announcements over the period 2008-13. We show that the effect of the announcement differs depending on the credit quality of the issuer (Investment Grade versus Speculative). The downgrading and negative credit watch of an investment grade country stabilize the market, as volatility decreases right after their release. By contrast, the announcements regarding speculative grade countries trigger an increase in both CDS spread and volatility. Lastly, we show that these announcements not only affect the CDS of the country, but spill over the German CDS.This paper develops a down-and-out call option model by introducing a structural break in volatility to capture the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Using data on syndicated loans during the season of H1N1 ***** Flu, we find that more flu is associated with higher loan spreads and smaller loan size. Our evidence supports the volatility no-effect, dampening and spillover hypotheses depending on whether the lower or upper price limit is hit and on when the hit begins and ends. Post-hit volatilities tend to be lower for limit hits near the beginning of the first trading session, unchanged for those that transcend a trading session and for upper price-limit hits near the end of either trading session, and higher for lower price-limit hits near the end of either trading session. These results are robust using samples differentiated by cross-listed status, same-day news, equi-distant and trade-by-trade returns and volatility measures accounting for return-series autocorrelations. Our findings have implications for emerging markets planning to impose price-limit bands or to increase their efficacy.
