Alaska is set to provide a "$1,702 PFD Stimulus Check" to eligible residents as part of its Permanent Fund Dividend program, which distributes oil revenue. This unique "stimulus" is actually an annual dividend and is taxable income. Payments began in the summer and will continue into the fall of 2025.

What it is:
  • A Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) payment, not a federal stimulus check.

  • A share of the state's oil and mineral revenues is distributed to residents.

  • The 2025 PFD is set at $1,702 per person.

When it's happening:

  • Payments for the 2025 PFD began in summer 2025 and are scheduled to continue through late 2025.
Who is eligible:

  • Residents who lived in Alaska for the entire 2024 calendar year.
  • Residents who intend to live permanently in the state and have not declared another state or country as their residence.
  • Residents who were present in Alaska for a specific duration in 2023 or 2024 and met certain legal and physical presence requirements.
Key things to know:
  • Taxable Income:
The PFD is considered taxable income by the IRS and must be included on your federal tax return.

  • Application Status:
Payments are issued to approved applicants with an "Eligible - Unpaid" status.

  • Energy Bonus:
The $1,702 includes a special energy relief bonus to help with high fuel costs.
