Both SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination elicit potent immune responses. A number of studies have described immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, beyond antibody production, immune responses to COVID-19 vaccines remain largely uncharacterized. Here, we performed multimodal single-cell sequencing on peripheral blood of patients with acute COVID-19 and healthy volunteers before and after receiving the SARS-CoV-2 BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine to compare the immune responses elicited by the virus and by this vaccine. Phenotypic and transcriptional profiling of immune cells, coupled with reconstruction of the B and T cell antigen receptor rearrangement of individual lymphocytes, enabled us to characterize and compare the host responses to the virus and to defined viral antigens. While both infection and vaccination induced robust innate and adaptive immune responses, our analysis revealed significant qualitative differences between the two types of immune challenges. In COVID-19 patients, immune responses were characterized by a highly augmented interferon response which was largely absent in vaccine recipients. Increased interferon signaling likely contributed to the observed dramatic upregulation of cytotoxic genes in the peripheral T cells and innate-like lymphocytes in patients but not in immunized subjects. Consistent with antibodies being a correlate of protection, passive transfer of vaccine-induced IgG to naïve hamsters was sufficient to mediate protection. Here we report the genome of a virus isolated in Pennsylvania in March 2021 that was identified as lineage B.1.1.7 (VOC-202012/01) that also harbors the E484K spike mutation, which has been shown to promote "escape" from neutralizing antibodies in vitro . We compare this sequence to the only 5 other B.1.1.7+E484K genomes from Pennsylvania, all of which were isolated in mid March. Beginning in February 2021, only a small number (n=60) of isolates with this profile have been detected in the US, and only a total of 253 have been reported globally (first in the UK in December 2020). Comparative genomics of all currently available high coverage B.1.1.7+E484K genomes (n=235) available on GISAID suggested the existence of 7 distinct groups or clonal complexes (CC; as defined by GNUVID) bearing the E484K mutation raising the possibility of 7 independent acquisitions of the E484K spike mutation in each background.

The interplay between the immune system, sleep dysfunction and cognitive impairment participates in the progression of disability in multiple sclerosis (MS). Our aim was to identify molecular pathways and B cell associated with separate components of MS disability. Benign MS, non-benign MS patients and healthy controls were recruited. Patients underwent polysomnography and cognitive studies. Microarray and bioinformatics analysis performed using peripheral blood mononuclear cell samples identified B cell-associated genes with the most significantly altered expression. Expression levels of these genes were validated by real-time PCR and peripheral blood cell subsets were examined by flow cytometry. Putative correlations among clinical and laboratory parameters were investigated by correlation network analysis. Sleep and cognitive functions were equally impaired in BMS and NBMS. BMS patients showed significantly reduced memory B cell and increased regulatory B cell percentages than NBMS patients. Among genes that were selected by bioinformatics, levels of BLK, BLNK, BANK1, FCRL2, TGFB1 and KCNS3 genes were significantly different among study subgroups. Correlation network analysis showed associations among physical-cognitive disability and sleep dysfunction measures of MS versus expression levels of selected genes. BMS and NBMS differ by physical disability but not cognitive and sleep dysfunction. Different components of disability in MS are associated with peripheral blood B cell ratios and B cell related gene expression levels. Thus, it is likely that altered B cell functions participate in the progression of disability in MS.

Thus, it is imperative that persons with MS have the skills and support to cope with the negative physical and emotional effects of the disease. The objective of this study was to assess whether a mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) would improve coping skills and thus lessen the negative consequences of stress due to being newly diagnosed with RMS.
This was a single-blind (assessor), randomized, prospective study of a 10-week MBI vs. usual standard of care in persons newly diagnosed (within 1 year) with RMS, recruited from one tertiary care MS clinic in London (ON), Canada. The MBI was administered in group format with a trained MBI facilitator. Primary outcomesincluded the Brief COPE measure and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) subscales. Secondary outcomes included measurceived stress in newly diagnosed (within one year) persons with RMS in the short term. Future research to confirm these results, as well as further investigate measures to extend the benefit beyond the immediate intervention.
The purpose of the current study was improving the measurement precision of the Transition Readiness Assessment Questionnaire (TRAQ 5.0-20 item) in order to gain better decimation of transition readiness skills across the 5 Stages of Change-from Precontemplation to Mastery.
In stage 1, starting with the TRAQ 5.0 20-item, 5 domain subscale questionnaire, we eliminated the five lowest discriminating items using Item response theory (IRT) in MPlus v7.4,which eliminated the domain subscale Managing Daily Activities, and we e added 15 more difficult and better discriminating items. We added items to both to the remaining 4 domain subscales and created a new domain subscale entitled Future Planning. The revised 30-item TRAQ was piloted among 386 youth between 16 and 24 years old (mean = 20 years; 54% female; 87% White).
After examining the model fit, discrimination and difficulty coefficients, and modification indices, we eliminated 10 items and the new Future Planning domain subscale we eliminated. The resulng health issues, and Talking with providers and has good construct validity as demonstrated by model fit. By adding more difficult items to the 4 resulting domain subscales, we have demonstrated improved item discrimination and difficulty, and therefore can better measure acquisition of transition readiness skills across the five stages of change from pre-contemplation to contemplation to initiation to action and finally to mastery.EG (ethylene glycol) is a good model system for the study of the fundamental hydrogen bonds in aqueous solutions. Using Raman spectroscopy, we have investigated the EG volume fraction induced variation in the hydrogen bonding interactions and conformations of EG-H2O (water) binary solutions. New hydrogen bonding networks is evidenced by the appearance of remarkable changes in Raman spectra and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) when the mixing volume ratio is 0.5. The H-bond in water molecules firstly strengthened and then weakened with the increasing concentration of EG. Meanwhile, the dominant association structure also changed from H2O-H2O to EG-H2O in binary solutions in this process. We provide a simple but effective method for studying EG-H2O binary solutions. It also has exciting potential prospects and can be easily extended to other mixing situations.In this paper, a reagent-free simultaneous and direct detection method of three analytes in human blood based on Fourier-transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectroscopy with 1064 nm laser radiation was proposed for the first time. A total of 161 human blood samples were characterized by FT-Raman spectroscopy under the excitation laser source of 1064 nm. In order to achieve a robust regression model, the Nonlinear Iterative Partial Least Squares (NIPALS) with orthogonal signal correction (OSC) algorithm and sample set partition based on a joint x-y distance (SPXY) is used to establish multivariate calibration models. The root means square error of cross-validation (RMSECV), root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP), correlation coefficients (R2) and ratio of performance to deviation (RPD) were 0.34255 mg/dL, 0.3662 mg/dL, 0.99982 and 56.3524 for glucose, 0.33656 mg/dL, 0.75736 mg/dL, 0.99967 and 34.9169 for total cholesterol (TC), and 0.29956 mg/dL, 0.27469 mg/dL, 0.99998 and 173.5098 for triglycerides (TG), respectively.

Our results suggest that sexual inactivity is common in the MMT patient population. The putative risk factors are related to biological and sociocultural factors. Having specific comorbidities or being on certain medications were not correlated with sexual inactivity in the MMT population. Routine assessment of sexual problems is essential, and proper management should be performed for MMT patients.Asthma affects more than 300 million people in the world, costs over $80 billion annually in the United States, and is efficaciously treated with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS). To our knowledge, no studies have examined the real-world effectiveness of ICS, including the combination therapy consisting of ICS and long-acting beta agonists (LABAs), and patterns of use over a 15-year time period. We used data from the Kaiser Permanente Northern California multi-ethnic Genetic Epidemiology Research on Adult Health and Aging (GERA) Cohort which comprises longitudinal electronic health record data of over 100,000 people. Data included longitudinal asthma-related events, such as ambulatory office visits, hospitalizations, emergency department (ED) visits, and fills of ICS and ICS-LABA combination. Asthma exacerbations were defined as an asthma-related ED visit, hospitalization, or oral corticosteroid (OCS) burst. We used an expected-value approach to determine ICS and ICS-LABA coverage over exacerbation events. We compared rates of exacerbation of subjects on ICS or ICS-LABAs to their own rates of exacerbation when off controller medications. We found ICS-LABA therapy had significant effects, reducing all types of exacerbations per day by a factor of 1.76 (95% CI (1.06, 2.93), p = 0.03) and, specifically, bursts per day by a factor of 1.91 (95% CI (1.04, 3.53), p = 0.037). In conclusion, ICS-LABA therapy was significantly associated with fewer asthma-related exacerbations in a large population of individuals with asthma who were followed for 15 years.In this paper, the fabrication, surface characterisation and electrochemical properties of graphite flake (GFPE) and multilayer graphene (MLGPE) paste electrodes are described. Our results suggest that sexual inactivity is common in the MMT patient population. The putative risk factors are related to biological and sociocultural factors. Having specific comorbidities or being on certain medications were not correlated with sexual inactivity in the MMT population. To our knowledge, no studies have examined the real-world effectiveness of ICS, including the combination therapy consisting of ICS and long-acting beta agonists (LABAs), and patterns of use over a 15-year time period. We used data from the Kaiser Permanente Northern California multi-ethnic Genetic Epidemiology Research on Adult Health and Aging (GERA) Cohort which comprises longitudinal electronic health record data of over 100,000 people. Data included longitudinal asthma-related events, such as ambulatory office visits, hospitalizations, emergency department (ED) visits, and fills of ICS and ICS-LABA combination. Asthma exacerbations were defined as an asthma-related ED visit, hospitalization, or oral corticosteroid (OCS) burst. We used an expected-value approach to determine ICS and ICS-LABA coverage over exacerbation events. We compared rates of exacerbation of subjects on ICS or ICS-LABAs to their own rates of exacerbation when off controller medications. We found ICS-LABA therapy had significant effects, reducing all types of exacerbations per day by a factor of 1.76 (95% CI (1.06, 2.93), p = 0.03) and, specifically, bursts per day by a factor of 1.91 (95% CI (1.04, 3.53), p = 0.037). Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) improves survival in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), which is largely mediated by the improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) defined as peak oxygen consumption (VO2). Therefore, measuring CRF is essential to predict long-term outcomes in this population. It is unclear, however, whether peak VO2 achieved at the end of CR (END-peak VO2) predicts survival or whether the changes of CRF achieved during CR provide a greater prognostic value.

Most patients with CD are asymptomatic at time of diagnosis but the clinical course may be complicated by a tendency to bleeding and/or thrombosis. Patients with a thrombotic-related fibrinogen variant are particularly at risk and in such patients long-term anticoagulation should be considered. Management of surgery and pregnancy raise important and difficult issues. The mainstay of CD treatment remains fibrinogen supplementation. Antifibrinolytic agents are part of the treatment in some specific clinical settings. In this article, we discuss five clinical scenarios to highlight common clinical challenges. We detail our approach to establish a diagnosis of CD and discuss strategies for the management of bleeding, thrombosis, surgery and pregnancy.

Efforts to reduce unnecessary continuation of antipsychotics at transitions of care are warranted.Ferroportin (FPN), the body's sole iron exporter, is essential for maintaining systemic iron homeostasis. In response to either increased iron or inflammation, hepatocyte-secreted hepcidin binds to FPN, inducing its internalization and subsequent degradation. However, the E3 ubiquitin ligase that underlies FPN degradation has not been identified. Here, we report the identification and characterization of a novel mechanism involving the RNF217-mediated degradation of FPN. A combination of two different E3 screens revealed that the Rnf217 gene is a target of Tet1, mediating the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of FPN. Interestingly, loss of Tet1 expression causes an accumulation of FPN and an impaired response to iron overload, manifested by increased iron accumulation in the liver together with decreased iron in the spleen and duodenum. Moreover, we found that the degradation and ubiquitination of FPN could be attenuated by mutating RNF217. Finally, using two conditional knockout mouse lines, we found that knocking out Rnf217 in macrophages increases splenic iron export by stabilizing FPN, whereas knocking out Rnf217 in intestinal cells appears to increase iron absorption. These findings suggest that the Tet1-RNF217-FPN axis regulates iron homeostasis, revealing new therapeutic targets for FPN-related diseases.
A regional task force of health-system pharmacy leaders was created to assist with successful adoption of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) general chapter <800>.
A group of pharmacy leaders in the Kansas City region identified potential benefits to healthcare personnel and patients if hazardous drug handling procedures were standardized. A task force was created, a preimplementation survey was distributed, and meetings were held monthly to discuss sections of USP <800> identified as the most challenging to implement. The task force focused on an assessment of risk tool, hot topics, cleanroom design, and a detailed analysis of controversial medications. After the first year of meetings, a postimplementation survey was distributed, and the results were analyzed. The task force created significant value for the participants and achieved the goal of facilitating efficient USP <800> implementation resulting in greater compliance and consistency across the multiple health systems represented. Over 5,100 beds and 200 clinic sites were affected by this task force's efforts.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been implicated in tumorigenesis and serve as novel prognostic biomarkers in different cancers. To enhance our understanding of lncRNAs that may have biological significance in HNSCC and may serve as prognostic biomarkers, we globally profiled lncRNAs in HNSCC by analyzing the RNA-seq data from The Atlas of Noncoding RNAs in Cancer (TANRIC) database. Of 3576 lncRNAs, we identified 926 (higher-688, lower-238) lncRNAs with a 2-fold abundance difference among the forty HNSCC and paired adjacent normal tissue. We investigated differential abundance of lncRNAs based on TP53 mutation and p16 status. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/corticosterone.html We found 133 lncRNAs to have differential abundance by 2-fold among the mutant vs wild-type TP53 samples, whereas among p16-negative vs positive samples, we identified 710 lncRNAs with the same criteria. To further evaluate the potential function of LINC00460, we performed lncRNA-mRNAs co-expression analysis and found that higher abundance of LINC00460 associated with cancer-related biological pathways including EMT and other inflammatory response pathways. AJTR Copyright © 2020.To investigate whether p16 deletion can prevent osteoporosis caused by estrogen deficiency, we first confirmed that p16 protein expression levels were significantly up-regulated in bony tissue of ovariectomized (OVX) wild-type ****. Eight-week-old wild-type and p16-/- **** were then sham-operated or bilateral OVX. After 12 weeks, the bone phenotypes of all models were analyzed by radiography, micro-computed tomography, histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology. The results showed that p16 deficiency could rescue OVX-induced osteoporosis by significantly increased bone mineral density, trabecular bone volume, total collagen positive area, osteoblast number, type I collagen positive area, fibroblast colony-forming unit (CFU-f) and alkaline phosphatase-positive CFU-f with up-regulation of the mRNA expression levels of Alp, Runx2, type I collagen and osteocalcin, and significantly reduced osteoclast surface and the ratio of RANKL/OPG mRNA expression level. Furthermore, we also demonstrated that p16 deletion inhibited OVX-induced oxidative stress and bone cell senescence, such as a significant decrease in reactive oxygen species levels, up-regulation of superoxide dismutase 1 and 2 protein expression levels, and reduction of the percentage of β-galactosidase-positive osteocytes and p21 protein expression levels in bony tissue. Our results indicate that p16 deletion can prevent estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis by inhibiting oxidative stress, osteocyte senescence and osteoclastic bone resorption, stimulating osteogenesis and osteoblastic bone formation. Therefore, this study provides new insights into the potential of p16 as a novel therapeutic target for estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis. In this study, we aimed to study the underlying mechanism of estrogen in apical periodontitis using both clinic samples and animal model. Clinically, as estrogen physiologically declines in elder female patients (premenopausal verses postmenopausal patients), we found that the expression level of NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling pathway was elevated in the infected apical tissues of postmenopausal patients as compared to the premenopausal patients, suggesting that this pathway is involved in the estrogen-mediated apical periodontitis. Furthermore, by analyzing the well-established OVX (estrogen deficiency model) animal model, we confirmed that the expression level of NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling pathway was also elevated in the infection areas of apical periodontitis in OVX animals. Importantly, as the periodontitis progressed, the subsequent bone loss was aggravated significantly. Thus, taken all these data together, our results demonstrated that the NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling pathway is involved in the estrogen-mediated apical periodontitis and the consequent bone loss in both human being and animal model. BPA increased the expression of NF-κB protein and activated the inflammatory response in both MRL/lpr and C57 ****. Unlike C57 ****, BPA exposure partially activated autophagy associated proteins, but the autophagy signaling pathway lacked the regulation of Becline1 and LC3-associated phagocytosis deficiency, and decreased Nrf2 protein expression in renal tissue of MRL/lpr ****. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been implicated in tumorigenesis and serve as novel prognostic biomarkers in different cancers. To enhance our understanding of lncRNAs that may have biological significance in HNSCC and may serve as prognostic biomarkers, we globally profiled lncRNAs in HNSCC by analyzing the RNA-seq data from The Atlas of Noncoding RNAs in Cancer (TANRIC) database. Of 3576 lncRNAs, we identified 926 (higher-688, lower-238) lncRNAs with a 2-fold abundance difference among the forty HNSCC and paired adjacent normal tissue. AJTR Copyright © 2020.To investigate whether p16 deletion can prevent osteoporosis caused by estrogen deficiency, we first confirmed that p16 protein expression levels were significantly up-regulated in bony tissue of ovariectomized (OVX) wild-type mice. Eight-week-old wild-type and p16-/- mice were then sham-operated or bilateral OVX. After 12 weeks, the bone phenotypes of all models were analyzed by radiography, micro-computed tomography, histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology. The results showed that p16 deficiency could rescue OVX-induced osteoporosis by significantly increased bone mineral density, trabecular bone volume, total collagen positive area, osteoblast number, type I collagen positive area, fibroblast colony-forming unit (CFU-f) and alkaline phosphatase-positive CFU-f with up-regulation of the mRNA expression levels of Alp, Runx2, type I collagen and osteocalcin, and significantly reduced osteoclast surface and the ratio of RANKL/OPG mRNA expression level. Furthermore, we also demonstrated that p16 deletion inhibited OVX-induced oxidative stress and bone cell senescence, such as a significant decrease in reactive oxygen species levels, up-regulation of superoxide dismutase 1 and 2 protein expression levels, and reduction of the percentage of β-galactosidase-positive osteocytes and p21 protein expression levels in bony tissue. Our results indicate that p16 deletion can prevent estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis by inhibiting oxidative stress, osteocyte senescence and osteoclastic bone resorption, stimulating osteogenesis and osteoblastic bone formation. In this study, we aimed to study the underlying mechanism of estrogen in apical periodontitis using both clinic samples and animal model. Clinically, as estrogen physiologically declines in elder female patients (premenopausal verses postmenopausal patients), we found that the expression level of NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling pathway was elevated in the infected apical tissues of postmenopausal patients as compared to the premenopausal patients, suggesting that this pathway is involved in the estrogen-mediated apical periodontitis. Furthermore, by analyzing the well-established OVX (estrogen deficiency model) animal model, we confirmed that the expression level of NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling pathway was also elevated in the infection areas of apical periodontitis in OVX animals. Importantly, as the periodontitis progressed, the subsequent bone loss was aggravated significantly. Thus, taken all these data together, our results demonstrated that the NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling pathway is involved in the estrogen-mediated apical periodontitis and the consequent bone loss in both human being and animal model. In recent years, the role of bisphenol A (BPA) in kidney injury has attracted wide attention. In this study, we explored the nephrotoxicity and its possible mechanism of BPA exposure to lupus-prone MRL/lpr mice. Orally exposure of BPA increased serum anti-dsDNA level and urinary protein, and aggravated renal pathological injury in MRL/lpr mice. BPA increased the expression of NF-κB protein and activated the inflammatory response in both MRL/lpr and C57 mice. Unlike C57 mice, BPA exposure partially activated autophagy associated proteins, but the autophagy signaling pathway lacked the regulation of Becline1 and LC3-associated phagocytosis deficiency, and decreased Nrf2 protein expression in renal tissue of MRL/lpr mice. Therefore, exacerbating lupus nephritis induced by BPA exposure was associated with the activation of inflammation, abnormal autophagy and decreased antioxidant ability. The aim of this review was to collect most of the knowledge on HO-1 from literature, analyzing different perspectives to try and put forward a hypothesis on revealing yet unknown HO-1-involved pathways that could be useful to promote development of new therapeutical strategies, and lay the foundation for further investigation to fully understand this important antioxidant system.ZEB1 is an important transcription factor for epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) and in the regulation of cell differentiation and transformation. Based on the curing methods, two series of eight mixes of UHPFRCs containing different binder contents ranging from 850 to 1200 kg/m3 with an increment of 50 kg/m3 were produced. Mechanical properties such as compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, static elastic module, flexural tensile strength and the ductility behavior were investigated. This study revealed that the mixture of 1150 kg/m3 binder content exhibited the highest values of the experimental results such as a compressive strength greater than 190 MPa, a splitting tensile strength greater than 12.5 MPa, and a modulus of elasticity higher than 45 GPa.

Central venous access (CVA) is a frequent procedure taught in medical residencies. However, since CVA is a high-risk procedure requiring a detailed teaching and learning process to ensure trainee proficiency, it is necessary to determine objective differences between the expert's and the novice's performance to guide novice practitioners during their training process. This study compares experts' and novices' biomechanical variables during a simulated CVA performance.
Seven experts and seven novices were part of this study. The participants' motion data during a CVA simulation procedure was collected using the Vicon Motion System. The procedure was divided into four stages for analysis, and each hand's speed, acceleration, and jerk were obtained. Also, the procedural time was analyzed. Descriptive analysis and multilevel linear models with random intercept and interaction were used to analyze group, hand, and stage differences.
There were statistically significant differences between experts and novices regarding time, speed, acceleration, and jerk during a simulated CVA performance. These differences vary significantly by the procedure stage for right-hand acceleration and left-hand jerk.
Experts take less time to perform the CVA procedure, which is reflected in higher speed, acceleration, and jerk values. The collagen 3 alpha 1 (COL3A1) rs1800255 polymorphism has been reported to be associated with women pelvic organ prolapse (POP) susceptibility, but the results of these previous studies have been contradictory. The objective of current study is to explore whether COL3A1 rs1800255 polymorphism confers risk to POP.
Relevant literatures were searched by searching databases including Pubmed, Embase, Google academic, the Cochrane library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Search time is from database foundation to March 2021.
A total of seven literatures were enrolled in the present meta-analysis, including 1642 participants. Overall, no significant association was found by any genetic models. In subgroup analysis based on ethnicity, significant associations were demonstrated in Caucasians by allele contrast (A vs. G OR = 1.34, 95%CI = 1.03-1.74,), homozygote comparison (AA vs. GG OR = 3.25, 95%CI = 1.39-7.59), and recessive genetic model (AA vs. GG/GA OR = 3.22, 95%CI = 1.40-7.42).
The present meta-analysis suggests that the COL3A1 is a candidate gene for POP susceptibility. Caucasian individuals with A allele and AA genotype have a higher risk of POP. The COL3A1 rs1800255 polymorphism may be risk factor for POP in Caucasian population.

In this paper, a hybrid differential evolution with gaining-sharing knowledge algorithm (GSK) and harris hawks optimization (HHO) is proposed, abbreviated as DEGH. Its main contribution lies are as follows. First, a hybrid mutation operator is constructed in DEGH, in which the two-phase strategy of GSK, the classical mutation operator "****/1" of DE and the soft besiege rule of HHO are used and improved, forming a double-insurance mechanism for the balance between exploration and exploitation. In order to efficiently threshold images with nonuniform illumination, this paper proposes an efficient global binarization algorithm that estimates the inhomogeneous background surface of the original image constructed from the first k leading principal components in the Gaussian scale space (GSS). Then, we use the difference operator to extract the distinct foreground of the original image in which the interference of uneven illumination is effectively eliminated. Finally, the image can be effortlessly binarized by an existing global thresholding algorithm such as the Otsu method. In order to qualitatively and quantitatively verify the segmentation performance of the presented scheme, experiments were performed on a dataset collected from a nonuniform illumination environment.

Overall, no significant association was found by any genetic models. A 74-year-old man was referred to a pulmonologist for evaluation of a 1-year history of nonproductive cough and progressive exertional dyspnea. He was initially evaluated by his primary care physician, where he had spirometry that was negative for any obstructive or restrictive lung disease. An echocardiogram showed a normal left ventricular ejection fraction, with no wall motion abnormality or valvular heart disease. Aurora kinase B (AURKB) is a mitotic serine/threonine protein kinase that belongs to the aurora kinase family along with aurora kinase A (AURKA) and aurora kinase C (AURKC). AURKB is a member of the chromosomal passenger protein complex and plays a role in cell cycle progression. Deregulation of AURKB is observed in several tumors and its overexpression is frequently linked to tumor cell invasion, metastasis and drug resistance. AURKB has emerged as an attractive drug target leading to the development of small molecule inhibitors. This review summarizes recent findings pertaining to the role of AURKB in tumor development, therapy related drug resistance, and its inhibition as a potential therapeutic strategy for cancer. We discuss AURKB inhibitors that are in preclinical and clinical development and combination studies of AURKB inhibition with other therapeutic strategies.UAV assisted wireless sensor networks play a key role in the detection of toxic gases and aerosols. UAVs can be used to remotely deploy sensor nodes and then collect gas concentration readings and GPS positioning from them to delimit an affected area. For such purpose, a dual-band communication system is required, supporting GPS reception, and sensor reading data transfer, which is chosen to be at 2.4 GHz using **** physical layer. In this work we propose a switched-beam antenna subsystem for the sensor nodes capable not only of satisfying the dual band requirements but also of maximizing communication range or energy consumption through a good antenna polarization match and improved antenna gain. This antenna subsystem is built using dual-port, dual-band, circularly polarized antenna elements, whose design and experimental validation is carefully detailed. A low profile microstrip stacked structure has been used to obtain return loss in both bands better than 15 dB, axial ratios below 1.5 dB, and wide -3 dB beamwidths around 90° and 75° for GPS and 2.4 GHz bands, respectively, thus limiting the gain reduction of the switched-beam system in critical sensor orientations. Special attention has been paid to reduce the coupling between both ports through the optimization of the relative placement of both patches and their feeding points. Participant data from a 2017 national survey on TKM usage was divided into two groups based on the children's TKM use reported by parents. The female participants' children had a higher rate of experience in using TKM (8.1%; p = 0.029). Additionally, 91.4% of the parent group with a child who used TKM turned out to have used TKM, which was higher than 71.9% of the parents whose children never used TKM (p less then 0.001). As for the awareness on the use of TKM, 44.0% of the parents with a child who experienced TKM answered they were aware of it, while only 35.3% of the parent group whose child never experienced TKM did so (p = 0.033). The present study suggests that parental experience in using TKM could have an impact on the children's TKM use reported by parents. Further study is necessary to assess which parental factor (awareness level, medical disorder to be treated, therapy, therapeutic efficacy, the purpose of visit, sex, age, etc.) has a close relationship with TKM usage experience of their children.There is currently a renaissance in research on bacteriophages as alternatives to antibiotics. In addition, we showed that, in general, there was a trend of increased association of engineered phages with the lung epithelium cells but not mouse fibroblast cells, allowing for targeted tissue specificity.
