  • Over the last decade, injectable soft tissue fillers have become an essential part of facial plastic surgery practice. We report here a tragic complication of hyaluronic acid filler injection in a young healthy woman, management offered, and the outcome.

Cytology and microbial cultivation were accomplished. Middle ear sample contamination by the material from the ear canal was identified in 2 of 36 (5.55%) ears. Neither a change in colour nor fluorescence was detected in 34 of 36 (94.44%) middle ear samples. Sixteen of 36 (44.44%) external ear canal samples and 4 of 36 (11.11%) middle ear aspirates had positive bacterial culture. This novel technique is a promising method for middle ear material collection in patients with concurrent otitis externa.

However, the post-discharge outcomes of survivors of OHCA have not been well studied. Methods and Results Data for patients admitted to The Jikei University Kashiwa Hospital with AMI between April 2012 and March 2020 were examined retrospectively. The Jikei University Kashiwa Hospital is a tertiary emergency medical facility, so the frequency of OHCA in this hospital is higher than in an ordinary AMI population. Of 803 patients, 92 (11.5%) were complicated by OHCA. Of the 92 OHCA patients, 37 died in hospital, compared with 45 of 711 non-OHCA patients who died in hospital (P less then 0.001). OHCA was more frequent in men than in women. The estimated glomerular filtration rate was lower in those with than without OHCA. Long-term mortality was evaluated in patients discharged alive and followed-up at an outpatient clinic (n=635; median follow-up period 607 days). The long-term post-discharge mortality was comparable between AMI patients with and without OHCA.     What are the reproductive outcomes of women aged 43 years and older undergoing IVF and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment using their own eggs.

    Retrospective study of 833 woman aged 43 years or older undergoing their first IVF and ICSI cycle using autologous oocytes at a tertiary referral hospital between January 1995 and December 2019. Live birth rate (LBR) after 24 weeks' gestation was the primary outcome.

    The objective of this study was to analyse the physical activity engagement in an adolescent population, evaluating its relationship with various indicators of physical and psychological health, as well as the influence of different sociodemographic variables as potential predictors.

    A cross-sectional study was applied to a sample of 761 students (14.51 ± 1.63 years) from 25 schools in La Rioja (Spain). Physical activity engagement, hours of nightly sleep, maximum oxygen uptake, health-related quality of life, self-esteem, body image satisfaction, adherence to the Mediterranean diet, body mass index, academic performance and various sociodemographic factors were analysed for all participants.

    Being older, being a girl, having a low/medium socioeconomic level, living in unfavourable environments for practicing physical activity, not doing extracurricular sports activities, and being dissatisfied with body image were all predictors of a low physical activity engagement. Likewise, physical activity engagement reported positive associations with health-related quality of life, self-esteem, hours of nightly sleep, adherence to the Mediterranean diet and maximum oxygen uptake.

    Interventions aimed at promoting physical activity must take into account these predictive factors, trying to favor their performance, especially in the most vulnerable groups.

Our aim was to know the rate of use of HFNC, their indications and the management variability among Spanish neonatal units.

    Twenty-five-question survey for medical and nursing staff. Level II and III units were contacted by phone and sent in Google forms between September 2016 and December 2018.

    Ninety-seven responses (63.9% medical, 36.1% nursing), from 69 neonatal units representing 15 autonomous communities (87% level of care III; 13% level II). All units except one have HFNC with a humidified and heated system. Their most frequent indications are non-invasive ventilation weaning (79.4%), bronchiolitis (69.1%), respiratory distress of the term newborn (58.8%), after extubation (50.5%).   • Neonatal COVID-19 vertical transmission was shown to have conflicting data as there was a presence of transmission in certain retrospective studies and absence in others. There was also no evidence of teratogenicity from maternal COVID-19 infection. In conclusion, in part due to the unique physiologic state of pregnancy and part due to unknown factors, pregnant patients are at increased risk for negative outcomes of COVID-19 infection and must be classified as a high-risk population.This research explored the established relationship between environmental support and competency for Mental Health Nurses, intending to investigate whether the tendency to display higher levels of mindfulness, compassion, and self-compassion might buffer the effect of a poor environment on competency. One questionnaire was comprised of five pre-developed questionnaires, which included all items examining environmental support, competency, mindfulness, compassion, and self-compassion. Mental Health Nurses (n = 103) were recruited from online forums and social media group pages in the UK. The result showed environmental support related positively to competency. Furthermore, the positive relationship of competency with environmental support was moderated when controlling for compassion but did not with mindfulness and self-compassion, although subscales showed some further interactions.     Using a sample of pediatric chest radiographs (pCXR) taken to rule out pneumonia, we obtained diagnostic interpretations from physicians and used learning analytics to determine the radiographic variables and participant review processes that predicted for an incorrect diagnostic interpretation.

    This was a prospective cross-sectional study. A convenience sample of frontline physicians with a range of experience levels interpreted 200 pCXR presented using a customized online radiograph presentation platform. Participants were asked to determine absence or presence (with respective location) of pneumonia. The pCXR were categorized for specific image-based variables potentially associated with interpretation difficulty. We also generated heat maps displaying the locations of diagnostic error among normal pCXR. Finally, we compared image review processes in participants with higher versus lower levels of clinical experience.

Urinary schistosomiasis and genital symptoms were investigated in 70 randomly selected secondary schools in three districts within KwaZulu-Natal and 18 primary schools. All study participants were treated for schistosomiasis, and schools with the highest urinary prevalence were followed up after 1 and 4 years of MDA. At baseline, urine analysis data showed that most schools were within the moderate-risk prevalence category where biennial antischistosomal MDA is recommended, as per WHO guidelines. Young women had high prevalence of genital symptoms (36%) after correcting for sexually transmitted infections. Test positivity rates (TPRs), positive predictive value (PPVs) of mRDTs, and MAFs were calculated by site, age, and season. Of 41,471 patients, 10,052 (24.2%) tested positive for malaria. The TPR was significantly greater in Chikhwawa (29.9%; 95% CI, 28.6-30.0) compared with Thyolo (13.2%; 95% CI, 12.5-13.7) and Ndirande (13.1%; 95% CI, 12.2-14.4). The overall PPV was 77.8% (95% CI, 76.8-78.7); it was lowest among infants (69.9%; 95% CI, 65.5-74.2) and highest among school-age children (81.9%; 95% CI, 80.3-83.4). Malaria infection accounted for about 50% of fevers in children younger than 5 years old with microscopy-confirmed Plasmodium falciparum infection, and less than 20% of such fevers in school-age children.     Acceptance rates of COVID-19 vaccines have still not reached the required threshold to achieve herd immunity. Understanding why some people are willing to be vaccinated and others are not is a critical step to develop efficient implementation strategies to promote COVID-19 vaccines.

    We conducted a theory-based content analysis based on the capability, opportunity, motivation-behavior (COM-B) model to characterize the factors influencing behavioral intentions toward COVID-19 vaccines mentioned on the Twitter platform.

    We collected tweets posted in English from November 1-22, 2020, using a combination of relevant keywords and hashtags. After excluding retweets, we randomly selected 5000 tweets for manual coding and content analysis. We performed a content analysis informed by the adapted COM-B model.

    Of the 5000 COVID-19 vaccine-related tweets that were coded, 4796 (95.9%) were posted by unique users. A total of 97 tweets carried positive behavioral intent, while 182 tweets contained negative behavioral intent.

Myocardial infarction resulted in the LV wall thinning, LV cavity dilation, remarkable decrease of ejection fraction, dp/dt Max, -dp/dt Min, myocardial strain and strain rates, and increased LV end-diastolic pressure, as well as impaired hemodynamic environment. The results indicate that after the CARS algorithm screens the different spectral variables, the optimal variable sets of the seven spectral variables are 15, 40, 30, 23, 20, 26, and 23, respectively. Fungal isolates were identified morphologically, and toxigenicity potentials of Aspergillus section Flavi isolates were determined using CCA. The temperature and relative humidity data of all farms were obtained from the Malaysian Meteorological Department. The total fungal loads (on DRBC) of the goat's feed samples were log 0.767 to 7.071 CFU/g which included the common feed contaminants such as Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Penicillium. The Aspergillus section Flavi loads (on AFPA) were log 0.667 to 3.206 CFU/g. Farm A yielded the highest number of Aspergillus section Flavi isolates as well as the highest number of aflatoxigenic isolates. It was found that climatic conditions and different practices between farms positively influenced the fungal prevalence on goat's feed samples based on the Pearson correlation analysis. The prevalence of mycotoxigenic isolates on goat's feed warrants for urgent intervention to ensure that goats are being fed with nutritionally adequate and safe feed. The presence of aflatoxigenic Aspergillus section Flavi isolates indicates the risk of aflatoxin B1 contamination on the goat's feed, aflatoxicosis development in the goats, and aflatoxin M1 bio-transformation in the goat's milk. The present review collects and summarizes clinical and preclinical studies of curcumin interactions, with an emphasis on the effect of curcumin and curcumin analogs on the mRNA and protein levels of microsomal CYP450 enzymes (phase I metabolism) and their interactions with toxicants, drugs and drug probes. The literature search was conducted using keywords in various scientific databases, including Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Studies concerning the impact of curcumin and curcumin analogs on microsomal enzyme activity are reviewed and include oral, topical, and systemic treatment in humans and experimental animals, as well as studies from in vitro research. When taken together the data identified some inconsistent results between various studies. The findings showed significant inhibition of CYP450 enzymes by curcumin and its analogs. However such effects often differed when curcumin and curcumin analogs were coadministered with toxicant and other drugs and drug probes. The present review collects and summarizes clinical and preclinical studies of curcumin interactions, with an emphasis on the effect of curcumin and curcumin analogs on the mRNA and protein levels of microsomal CYP450 enzymes (phase I metabolism) and their interactions with toxicants, drugs and drug probes. The literature search was conducted using keywords in various scientific databases, including Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Studies concerning the impact of curcumin and curcumin analogs on microsomal enzyme activity are reviewed and include oral, topical, and systemic treatment in humans and experimental animals, as well as studies from in vitro research. When taken together the data identified some inconsistent results between various studies. The findings showed significant inhibition of CYP450 enzymes by curcumin and its analogs. However such effects often differed when curcumin and curcumin analogs were coadministered with toxicant and other drugs and drug probes. We conclude from this review that herb-drug interactions should be considered when curcumin and curcumin analogs are consumed.

Typhimurium after 5 h. The ΔmsrAΔmsrC mutant strain has been highly (~ 3000 folds more) sensitive (p  less then  0.001) to hypochlorite stress. Further, ΔmsrA and ΔmsrAΔmsrC mutant strains showed more than 8 and 26 folds more susceptibility to poultry macrophages, respectively. Our data suggest that the deletion of both msrA and msrC genes severely affect the oxidative stress survival and intramacrophage proliferation of S. Typhimurium.
    Delayed gastric emptying (DGE) is a common complication following laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD), although it remains incompletely understood, and only few studies have investigated the clinical benefits of hepatic branch of the vagus nerve (HBVN) preservation on DGE after LPD until now. We intended to evaluate the effect of preservation of the HBVN during LPD on the incidence of DGE.

    A total of 274 consecutive LPDs performed at a single center between July 2014 and December 2019 with available videos were retrospectively reviewed. DGE was defined according to the International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) criteria, and HBVN condition during the LPD procedure was evaluated through a video review. Risk factors associated with DGE were assessed by performing univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Postoperative outcomes between the HBVN-preserved and HBVN-injury groups were compared before and after propensity score matching (PSM).

The introduction of technologically advanced US software and the approval of the intravesical administration of ultrasound contrast agents by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and by the European Medicine Agency (EMA) have to induce the Scientific Community to a deep revaluation of the role of ceVUS in the diagnosis and follow-up of VUR urosonography might extensively replace VCUG as the reference method, reserving to cystourethrography a role in the most complex anatomic settings for pre-surgical evaluation.

    A comparison between cCRT and hypofractionated radiotherapy regimens (hypo-fx RT) with the addition of sequential chemotherapy (sCHT) could be useful for future combinations with immunotherapy. We developed a recommendation about the clinical question of whether CHT and moderately hypo-fx RT are comparable to cCRT for locally advanced NSCLC MATERIALS AND METHODS The panel used GRADE methodology and the Evidence to Decision (EtD) framework. After a systematic literature search, five studies were eligible. We identified the following outcomes progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), freedom from locoregional recurrence (FFLR), deterioration of quality of life (QoL), treatment-related deaths, severe G3-G4 toxicity, late pulmonary toxicity G3-G4, and acute esophageal toxicity G3-G4.
