  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the exposure reciprocity law of a multi-wave light-emitting diode (LED) on the light transmittance (LT), depth of cure (DOC) and degree of conversion in-depth (DC) of a bulk fill composite. A bulk fill composite (EvoCeram® bulk fill, Ivoclar Vivadent) was photoactivated using the multi-wave LED (VALO™ Cordless, Ultradent). The LED was previously characterized using a spectrophotometer to standardize the time of exposure when using the Standard or Xtra-Power modes with the same radiant exposure of 20J/cm2. LT was evaluated through samples of the bulk fill composite every millimeter till 4 mm in-depth. DOC was evaluated according to the ISO 4049. DC of the central longitudinal cross-section from each sample of the DOC test was mapped using FT-NIR microscopy. Data were statistically analyzed according to the experimental design (α=0.05; ß=0.2). The radiant exposure in the violet wavelength range for Standard and Xtra-Power was 4.5 and 5.0 J/cm2, respectively; for the blue wavelength range the radiant exposure for Standard and Xtra-Power was 15.5 and 15.0 J/cm2, respectively. There was no statistical difference in the DOC using Standard or Xtra-Power light-curing modes, but the DOC was lower than the claimed by the manufacturer (4 mm). The DC was not significantly affected by the light-curing mode up to 4 mm in depth (p>0.05). According to exposure reciprocity law, the reduction in exposure time using the same radiant exposure did not affect the depth of cure of the bulk fill composite.In this study, we describe a method for reaching a target population (i.e., dentists practicing in Brazil) to engage in survey research using traditional e-mail invites and recruitment campaigns created on Instagram. This study addresses methodological aspects and compares respondents reached by different methods. A pre-tested questionnaire was used and participants were recruited for 10 days via a source list of email addresses and two discrete Instagram organic open campaigns. A total of 3,122 responses were collected 509 participants were recruited by email (2.1% response rate) and 2,613 by the two Instagram campaigns (20.7% and 11.7% conversion rates), respectively. Response/min collection rates in the first 24 h ranged between 0.23 (email) and 1.09 (first campaign). In total, 98.8% of all responses were received in the first 48 h for the different recruitment strategies. There were significant differences for all demographic variables (p less then 0.001) between email and Instagram respondents, except for sex (p=0.37). Instagram respondents were slightly older, had more professional experience (years in practice), and a higher graduate education level than email respondents. Moreover, most email and Instagram respondents worked in the public sector and private practice, respectively. Although both strategies could collect responses from all Brazilian regions, email responses were slightly better distributed across the five territorial areas compared to Instagram. This study provides evidence that survey recruitment of a diverse, large population sample using Instagram is feasible. Collagen fibers condensation increased according to the periods, with no differences among sealers. There was an increase at ALP activity and mineralized nodules deposition according to periods. HAp and α-TCP presented higher values for ALP activity at 5 days and at 5, 10, and 15 days for AR and were different from AHP (p less then 0.05). α-TCP presented superior values at 10 and 15 days compared to HAp and AHP for AR (p less then 0.05). At 90 days, α-TCP and control (empty cavity) showed high bone deposition compared to AHP (p less then 0.05). α-TCP and HAp, in a methacrylate-based sealer, presented biocompatibility and bioactivity, with the potential to be used as endodontic sealers in clinical practice. Further investigations are required to gain information on the physicochemical properties of these sealers formulation before its clinical implementation.The endodontic revascularization may be an alternative treatment for necrotic immature teeth, however, several treatment steps may cause tooth discoloration. This study evaluated the use of three calcium silicate-based cements with different radiopacifying agents on the color alteration (∆E) of extracted premolars after simulation of revascularization. Forty single rooted extracted premolars were shaped with #1-6 gates Glidden drills, rinsed with sodium hypochlorite, and filled with fresh human blood. Three calcium silicate-based cements with different radiopacifying agents (bismuth oxide - CSBi, calcium tungstate - CSW, and zirconium oxide - CSZr) were applied over the blood clot (n=10). The control group received the application of a temporary zinc oxide-based cement (TFZn) (n=10). ∆E was measured with a spectrophotometer, using the L*a*b* color system of the International Commission on Illumination (CIELab), in different times prior to the preparation of the access cavity (t0); right after treatment (t1); and after one (t2), two (t3), three (t4) and four (t5) months.

  • To explore the role of prostacyclin (PGI2) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) in lung hyper-permeability induced by mechanical ventilation (MV) in rabbits.

In this study, we aimed to determine hypertension prevalence, awareness, treatment and control among community residents of rural areas of Peravia in Dominican Republic, followed by an assessment of CI in their primary care clinics (PCC).

    We interviewed 827 adults from 8 rural communities of Peravia. Demographics, medical history, health care information and blood pressure (BP) were obtained. We reviewed the community PCC visits of patients with known hypertension or a BP ≥ 140/90, abstracting medical history and the physician's action towards uncontrolled BP.

In response, some have modified the BNT by skipping/removing this item and giving the point as if the examinee responded correctly. It is unknown, however, whether modifying standardized administration and scoring in this manner affects clinical interpretation. In the present study, we examined the prevalence of noose item failure, whether demographic and clinical characteristics differed between those who responded correctly versus failed the item, and whether giving a point to those who failed affected clinical interpretation.

    Participants included a mixed clinical sample of 762 adults, ages 18-88years, seen for neuropsychological evaluation at one of five sites within the USA.

    Those who failed the item (13.78%) were more likely to be female, non-White, and have primary diagnoses of major neurocognitive disorder, epilepsy, or neurodevelopmental disorder. Noose item failure was associated with lower BNT total score, fewer years of education and lower intellectual functioning, expressive vocabulary, and single word reading. Giving a point to those who failed the item resulted in descriptor category change for 17.1%, primarily for patients with poor overall BNT performance.

The 3D characteristics of molecules largely determine the properties of the drug and the binding characteristics of the target. However, most of the previous studies focused on 1D or 2D molecular descriptors while ignoring the 3D topological structure, thereby degrading the performance of molecule-related prediction. Because it is very time-consuming to use dynamics to simulate molecular 3D conformer, we aim to use machine learning to represent 3D molecules by using the generated 3D molecular coordinates from the 2D structure.

    We proposed Drug3D-Net, a novel deep neural network architecture based on the spatial geometric structure of molecules for predicting molecular properties.     A consecutive series of 609 men seeking medical care for sexual dysfunction and with SH (total T < 10.5 nmol/L and LH ≤ 9.4 U/L) was retrospectively evaluated. An independent cohort of 50 men with SH was used as validation sample. 126 men in the exploratory sample and the whole validation sample underwent MRI.

    In the exploratory sample, patients with pathological MRI findings (n = 46) had significantly lower total T, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and prostate specific antigen (PSA) than men with normal MRI (n = 80). Receiver Operating Characteristics analysis showed that total T, LH, FSH and PSA are accurate in identifying men with pathologic MRI (accuracy 0.62-0.68, all p < 0.05). The Youden index was used to detect the value with the best performance, corresponding to total T 6.1 nmol/L, LH 1.9 U/L, FSH 4.2 U/L and PSA 0.58 ng/mL. In the validation cohort, only total T ≤ 6.1 nmol/L and LH ≤ 1.9 U/L were confirmed as significant predictors of pathologic MRI.

    Thyroid ultrasound is a key tool in the evaluation of the thyroid, but billions of people around the world lack access to ultrasound imaging. In this study, we tested an asynchronous telediagnostic ultrasound system operated by individuals without prior ultrasound training which may be used to effectively evaluate the thyroid and improve access to imaging worldwide.

    The telediagnostic system in this study utilizes volume sweep imaging (VSI), an imaging technique in which the operator scans the target region with simple sweeps of the ultrasound probe based on external body landmarks. Sweeps are recorded and saved as video clips for later interpretation by an expert. Two operators without prior ultrasound experience underwent 8 h of training on the thyroid VSI protocol and the operation of the telemedicine platform. After training, the operators scanned patients at a health center in Lima. Telediagnostic examinations were sent to the United States for remote interpretation. Standard of care thyroid ultrasoup, and epidemiological studies to promote global health and improve the availability of diagnostic imaging in underserved communities.

However, additional procedures, such as application of artificial chordae to the anterior leaflet for pseudo-prolapse, and posterior leaflet augmentation with a pericardial patch, are required in advanced cases with a giant left atrium and extremely enlarged mitral annulus. Chronic atrial fibrillation causes enlargement of the right and left atria. This pathology is a bilateral atrioventricular valve disease (dual-valve disease). Therefore, the conventional guidelines of single-valve disease should not be applied. Although atrial functional tricuspid regurgitation is underappreciated, tricuspid annuloplasty should be considered for most patients to prevent future regurgitation. In addition to the mitral and tricuspid valve procedure, integrated surgical management, including plication of the atrium and left appendage closure, is required.   • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) has been defined as unexplained relapsing or persistent fatigue for at least 6 consecutive months. Immuno-inflammatory pathway, bacterial infection, and other causes play essential roles in CFS. Helicobacter pylori infection is one of the most common causes of foregut inflammation, leading to peptic ulcer disease (PUD). This study aimed to analyze the risk of CFS development between patients with and without PUD. Other related factors were also analyzed. We performed a retrospective, nationwide cohort study identifying patients with or without PUD respectively by analyzing the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000 (LHID2000), Taiwan. The overall incidence of CFS was higher in the PUD cohort than in the non- PUD cohort (HR = 2.01, 95% CI = 1.75-2.30), with the same adjusted HR (aHR) when adjusting for age, sex, and comorbidities. The sex-specific PUD cohort to the non-PUD cohort relative risk of CFS was significant in both genders. The age-specific incidence of CFS showed incidence density increasing with age in both cohorts. There is an increased risk of developing CFS following PUD, especially in females and the aging population. We measured change of urinary biomarker levels in 25 patients with IC/BPS received ESWT or placebo once a week for 4 weeks. Urines were collected from participants at baseline, 4 and 12 weeks post treatment. A representative 41 inflammatory growth factors, cytokines, and chemokines in urine were measured using a MILLIPLEX immunoassay kit. Symptom bother was assessed by O'Leary-Sant symptom scores (OSS), and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain. The ESWT group exhibited a significant reduction in the OSS and VAS compared to the placebo group 4 weeks post-treatment (P  less then  0.05), and the effects were persistent at 12 weeks. The difference in urinary markers change in ESWT versus placebo was P = 0.054 for IL4, P = 0.013 for VEGF, and P = 0.039 for IL9 at 4 weeks. The change of urine biomarker was not significant in other biomarkers or all the measured proteins at 12 weeks.
    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) has been defined as unexplained relapsing or persistent fatigue for at least 6 consecutive months. Immuno-inflammatory pathway, bacterial infection, and other causes play essential roles in CFS. Helicobacter pylori infection is one of the most common causes of foregut inflammation, leading to peptic ulcer disease (PUD). This study aimed to analyze the risk of CFS development between patients with and without PUD. Other related factors were also analyzed. We performed a retrospective, nationwide cohort study identifying patients with or without PUD respectively by analyzing the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000 (LHID2000), Taiwan. The overall incidence of CFS was higher in the PUD cohort than in the non- PUD cohort (HR = 2.01, 95% CI = 1.75-2.30), with the same adjusted HR (aHR) when adjusting for age, sex, and comorbidities. The sex-specific PUD cohort to the non-PUD cohort relative risk of CFS was significant in both genders. The age-specific incidence of CFS showed incidence density increasing with age in both cohorts. There is an increased risk of developing CFS following PUD, especially in females and the aging population. Hopefully, these findings can prevent common infections from progressing to debilitating, chronic conditions such as CFS.Cranial Neural Crest Cells (CNCC) originate at the cephalic region from forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain, migrate into the developing craniofacial region, and subsequently differentiate into multiple cell types. Consensus optimization predicts high-quality regulations and reveals the architecture of upstream, core, and downstream transcription factors that are associated with functions of neural plate border, specification, and migration. hReg-CNCC allows us to annotate genetic variants of human facial GWAS and disease traits with associated cis-regulatory modules, transcription factors, and target genes. For example, we reveal the distal and combinatorial regulation of multiple SNPs to core TF ALX1 and associations to facial distances and cranial rare disease. In addition, hReg-CNCC connects the DNA sequence differences in evolution, such as ultra-conserved elements and human accelerated regions, with gene expression and phenotype. hReg-CNCC provides a valuable resource to interpret genetic variants as early as gastrulation during embryonic development. We first devised a new protocol to isolate PDL cells from the surface of adult murine molars and established 35 new single cell-derived clones from the PDL explant. Among these clones, six clones with high (high clones, n = 3) and low (low clones, n = 3) osteogenic potential were selected. Despite a clear difference in the osteogenic potential of these clones, no significant differences in their cell morphology, progenitor cell marker expression, alkaline phosphatase activity, proliferation rate, and differentiation-related gene and protein expression were observed. Zbp1-positive cells were distributed sparsely throughout the PDL. In vitro Zbp1 expression in the PDL clones remained at a high level during osteogenic differentiation. We measured change of urinary biomarker levels in 25 patients with IC/BPS received ESWT or placebo once a week for 4 weeks. Urines were collected from participants at baseline, 4 and 12 weeks post treatment. A representative 41 inflammatory growth factors, cytokines, and chemokines in urine were measured using a MILLIPLEX immunoassay kit. Symptom bother was assessed by O'Leary-Sant symptom scores (OSS), and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain. The ESWT group exhibited a significant reduction in the OSS and VAS compared to the placebo group 4 weeks post-treatment (P  less then  0.05), and the effects were persistent at 12 weeks. The difference in urinary markers change in ESWT versus placebo was P = 0.054 for IL4, P = 0.013 for VEGF, and P = 0.039 for IL9 at 4 weeks. The change of urine biomarker was not significant in other biomarkers or all the measured proteins at 12 weeks.

Herein, a process featuring blank roasting-alkaline leaching is proposed to recover spent HDS catalyst. During roasting, low-valence compounds convert to high-valence oxides which can be leached out by NaOH solution. Afterwards, leaching solution is subjected to crystallization to separate metals. The results show that for samples roasted at 650 °C, 97% V, 96% Mo, and 88% Al are leached out at optimal condition; for samples roasted at 1000 °C, selective leaching of 91% V and 96% Mo respectively, are realized, with negligible Al being dissolved. NiO is insoluble in strong alkali leaving in residue. The advantages of this process are that first, the leaching of V, Mo, and Al can be manipulated by controlling roasting conditions, providing flexible process design. Second, leaching solution can be fully recycled. Finally, mild leaching condition and clean separation of V, Mo, and Al is achieved, proving fundamental information for peer researches to facilitate their future research on the development of more efficient and cleaner technologies.Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is widely concerned because its serious toxicity to the environment and ecosystems. In order to effectively and conveniently remove PFOA from aqueous solutions, reduced graphene oxide aerogel modified by Cu nanoparticles and fluorine (Cu/F-rGA) was prepared by the microbubble template method as an electrode in electrosorption. The removal capacity of Cu/F-rGA electrode to PFOA was 489% and 45.9% higher at + 0.8 V than that of open circuit and unmodified electrode, respectively. These significant improvements can be attributed to the advantages of Cu/F-rGA in ligand exchange reaction and electrostatic attraction under voltage assistance. The regeneration of Cu/F-rGA electrode maintained 75.51% capacity after 10 times electrosorption-desorption by applying reverse voltage. These properties provided potential for the reuse and application of Cu/F-rGA electrode. The electrosorption isotherm and model results showed that PFOA tended to be parallel to the adsorption site at low temperature and perpendicular at high temperature. The number of PFOA molecules connected to each adsorption site was 0.72-1.76, and the number of adsorption layers of PFOA on the electrode was between 1.46 and 2.87. Findings from this study provide a green and effective strategy to remove PFOA from aqueous solutions with low energy consumption.

The aim of this study was to explore reproductive-aged men's fertility information-seeking attitudes and behaviours.

    Focus group discussions were conducted with younger (18-30years, 3 groups) and older (31-45years, 3 groups) men, residing in urban, peri-urban or rural settings in Victoria, Australia. The topics covered included men's fatherhood aspirations and intentions, and their attitudes and behaviours relating to seeking information about fertility. Focus group discussions were audio-recorded and transcribed, and transcripts analyzed thematically.

    Six focus group discussions were conducted with a total of 39 participants. Four key themes were identified 1. 'No need for fertility-related information'; 2. 'Knowledge and awareness of fertility'; 3. 'Fertility is women's business'; and 4. 'Fertility and manhood'.y information to men.A novel β-xylosidase Dt-2286 from Dictyoglomus turgidum was cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). Dt-2286 belonging to glycoside hydrolase (GH) family 3 encodes a polypeptide with 762 amino acid residues with a molecular weight of 85.1 kDa. By optimization of the growth and induction conditions, the activity of β-xylosidase reached 273 U/mL, which is the highest yield reported to date from E. coli in a shake-flask.   • The major form of cell death in normal as well as malignant cells is apoptosis, which is a programmed process highly regulated by the BCL-2 family of proteins. This includes the antiapoptotic proteins (BCL-2, BCL-XL, MCL-1, BCLW, and BFL-1) and the proapoptotic proteins, which can be divided into two groups the effectors (BAX, BAK, and BOK) and the BH3-only proteins (BIM, BAD, NOXA, PUMA, BID, BIK, HRK). Notably, the BCL-2 antiapoptotic proteins are often overexpressed in malignant cells. While this offers survival advantages to malignant cells and strengthens their drug resistance capacity, it also offers opportunities for novel targeted therapies that selectively kill such cells. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the extensive preclinical and clinical studies targeting BCL-2 proteins with various BCL-2 proteins inhibitors with emphasis on venetoclax as a single agent, as well as in combination with other therapeutic agents. However, the signaling pathways through which TGF-β1 activates Graves' orbital fibroblasts remain unclear. This study investigated the role of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway in TGF-β1-induced myofibroblast transdifferentiation in human Graves' orbital fibroblasts. The MAPK pathway was assessed by measuring the phosphorylation of p38, c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), and extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK) by Western blots. The expression of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and fibronectin representing fibrogenesis was estimated. The activities of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) responsible for extracellular matrix (ECM) metabolism were analyzed. Specific pharmacologic kinase inhibitors were used to confirm the involvement of the MAPK pathway. After treatment with TGF-β1, the phosphorylation levels of p38 and JNK, but not ERK, were increased. CTGF, α-SMA, and fibronectin, as well as TIMP-1 and TIMP-3, were upregulated, whereas the activities of MMP-2/-9 were inhibited. The effects of TGF-β1 on the expression of these factors were eliminated by p38 and JNK inhibitors. However, the pharmacological response to T1AM might be influenced by tissue metabolism, which is known to convert T1AM into its catabolite 3-iodothyroacetic acid (TA1). Currently, several research groups are investigating the pharmacological effects of T1AM systemic administration in the search of novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of interlinked pathologies, such as metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). A critical aspect in the development of new drugs for NDDs is to know their distribution in the brain, which is fundamentally related to their ability to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB). They are also involved in the pathology of many diseases. miRNAs can mediate the insulin pathway and glucose absorption. miRNAs can also regulate PD-related genes. Both 10-fold cross-validation and leave-one-patient-out validation methods were performed to test the system, achieving accuracies of 73.6% (±19%) and 90.9% (±12%), F1-scores of 97.9% and 87.2%, and precision values of 95.4% and 99.3% at recall values of 100.0% and 81.1% on these two respective cohorts. This study presents several novel findings and approaches, namely the development and validation of our methods on two datasets collected in different countries showing that using patches instead of the whole lesion image leads to better performance and analyzing which regions of the images are predictive of the classes using class activation map analysis.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of the extensive preclinical and clinical studies targeting BCL-2 proteins with various BCL-2 proteins inhibitors with emphasis on venetoclax as a single agent, as well as in combination with other therapeutic agents. This review also discusses recent advances, challenges focusing on drug resistance, and future perspectives for effective targeting the Bcl-2 family of proteins in cancer.Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)-induced myofibroblast transdifferentiation from orbital fibroblasts is known to dominate tissue remodeling and fibrosis in Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO). The MAPK pathway was assessed by measuring the phosphorylation of p38, c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), and extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK) by Western blots. The expression of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and fibronectin representing fibrogenesis was estimated. The activities of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) responsible for extracellular matrix (ECM) metabolism were analyzed. Specific pharmacologic kinase inhibitors were used to confirm the involvement of the MAPK pathway. After treatment with TGF-β1, the phosphorylation levels of p38 and JNK, but not ERK, were increased. CTGF, α-SMA, and fibronectin, as well as TIMP-1 and TIMP-3, were upregulated, whereas the activities of MMP-2/-9 were inhibited. The effects of TGF-β1 on the expression of these factors were eliminated by p38 and JNK inhibitors. The results suggested that TGF-β1 could induce myofibroblast transdifferentiation in human Graves' orbital fibroblasts through the p38 and JNK pathways.Recent reports highlighted the significant neuroprotective effects of thyronamines (TAMs), a class of endogenous thyroid hormone derivatives. In particular, 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) has been shown to play a pleiotropic role in neurodegeneration by modulating energy metabolism and neurological functions in mice. However, the pharmacological response to T1AM might be influenced by tissue metabolism, which is known to convert T1AM into its catabolite 3-iodothyroacetic acid (TA1). Currently, several research groups are investigating the pharmacological effects of T1AM systemic administration in the search of novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of interlinked pathologies, such as metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). Both 10-fold cross-validation and leave-one-patient-out validation methods were performed to test the system, achieving accuracies of 73.6% (±19%) and 90.9% (±12%), F1-scores of 97.9% and 87.2%, and precision values of 95.4% and 99.3% at recall values of 100.0% and 81.1% on these two respective cohorts. This study presents several novel findings and approaches, namely the development and validation of our methods on two datasets collected in different countries showing that using patches instead of the whole lesion image leads to better performance and analyzing which regions of the images are predictive of the classes using class activation map analysis.

  • Canine mammary gland tumors (CMGTs) are heterogeneous disease and subclassified [sarcomas (S), carcinomas (C), and carcinosarcomas (CS)] according to histopathological differentiation. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising treatment strategy based on the use of a photosensitizer (PS) activated by light. However, the therapeutic potential of PDT in the treatment of CMGTs has not been investigated, yet. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the in vitro protocol of 5-ALA-based-PDT for the treatment of three subtypes of CMGTs, for the first time. The intracellular PpIX florescence intensity was measured for 5-ALA (0.5 and 1 mM). After irradiation with different light doses (6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 J/cm2) for two different modes [continuous wave (CW) and pulse radiation (PR)], the cytotoxic effects of 5-ALA (0.5 and 1 mM) on the subtypes (C, S, and CS) of CMGTs were analyzed by WST-1. Finally, the optimal PDT treatment protocol was validated through Annexin V and AO/EtBr staining. Our results showed that 1 mM 5-ALA for 4-h incubation was the best treatment condition in all subtypes of CMGTs due to higher intracellular PpIX level. After irradiation with different light doses, PR mode was more effective in S primary cells at 9 J/cm2. However, a significant decrease in the viability of C and CS cells was detected at 12 /cm2 in CW mode (p  less then  0.05). Additionally, 1 mM 5-ALA induced apoptotic cell death in each subtype of CMGTs. Our preliminary findings suggest that (i) each subtype of CMGTs differentially responds to PDT and (ii) the light dose and mode could play an important role in the effective PDT treatment. However, further studies are needed to investigate the role of the different light sources and PDT-based apoptotic cell death in CMGTs cells.

    To obtain an exhaustive compilation of studies dealing specifically with explicit emotion regulation in bipolar disorder, we conducted a systematic literature search in four databases. In the 15 studies we included in our review, the emotion-regulation strategies maintenance, distraction, and reappraisal (self-focused and situation-focused) were investigated partly on a purely behavioral level and partly in conjunction with neural measures. The samples used in the identified studies included individuals at increased risk of bipolar disorder, patients with current affective episodes, and patients with euthymic mood state.

In gender transition, this right represents a powerful form of control over personal data, especially health data that may reveal a gender with which they do not identify and reject. Therefore, it is pertinent to discern whether the right to have personal data deleted-in particular, health data-is ethically acceptable in gender transition. Towards addressing the ethical dimensions of the right to be forgotten in this case, this study presents relevant concepts, briefly outlines history, ethics and law of records considering the evolution from paper to electronic format, the main aspects of identity construction and gender identity, and explores the relationship between privacy, data protection/information control and identity projection. Also, it discusses in gender transition the relation between "the right to self-determination", "the right to delete", and "the right to identity and individuality". Conclusions on the ethical admissibility of the 'right to be forgotten' to control gender-affirming information are presented.

The revised DSM-5 now states that increased energy or activity must be present alongside mood changes to diagnose hypomania/mania, thus raising energy/activity to criterion A. We set out to investigate how the change in criterion A affects the diagnosis of hypomanic/manic visits in patients with a newly diagnosed bipolar disorder.

    In this prospective cohort study, 373 patients were included (median age = 32; IQR, 27-40). Women constituted 66% (n = 245) of the cohort and 68% of the cohort (n = 253) met criteria for bipolar type II, the remaining patients were diagnosed bipolar type I. Median number of contributed visits was 2 per subject (IQR, 1-3) and median follow-up time was 3years (IQR, 2-4). During follow-up, 127 patients had at least one visit with fulfilled DSM-IV criterion A. Applying DSM-5 criterion A reduced the number of patients experiencing a hypomanic/manic visit by 62% at baseline and by 50% during longitudinal folnia rating scale scores, compared with DSM-IV criterion A. Consequently, fewer hypomanic/manic visits may be detected in newly diagnosed bipolar patients with applied DSM-5 criterion A, and the upcoming ICD-11, which may possibly result in longer diagnostic delay of BD as compared with the DSM-IV.

As of 24 April 2020, Lombardy was the worst hit Italian region and entirely separated from all the others. Sensitivity analysis-by excluding data from Lombardy-partitioned the remaining regions into four clusters. Although cluster 1 (i.e. Veneto) and 2 (i.e. Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna) included the most hit regions beyond Lombardy, this partition reflected differences in the efficacy of restrictions and testing strategies. Cluster 3 was heterogeneous and comprised regions where the epidemic started later and/or where it spread with the lowest intensity. Regions within cluster 4 were those where the epidemic started slightly after Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont, favoring timely adoption of control measures. Our findings provide policymakers with a snapshot of the epidemic in Italy, which might help guiding the adoption of countermeasures in accordance with the situation at regional level.Cerebral microbleeds (MBs) have been found in patients with cognitive decline. We aimed to examine whether MBs are associated with motor or cognitive decline in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). We enrolled 135 PD patients and 34 healthy controls. All participants underwent brain MRI and plasma biomarker assays, including tau, Aβ42, Aβ40, and α-synuclein. PD with dementia (PDD) was operationally defined as Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score  less then  26 and advanced motor stage was defined as Hoehn-Yahr stage ≥ 3 during "on" status. The association between MBs and disease severity was examined using multivariate logistic regression models. More lobar MBs were observed in PD patients than controls (20.7% vs. 3.3%, p = 0.031). PDD patients had more lobar MBs (33.3% vs. 15.6%, p = 0.034), more white matter hyperintensity (p = 0.021) and reduced hippocampal volume (p = 0.001) than PD with normal cognition. The presence of lobar MB (odds ratio = 2.83 [95% confidence interval 1.04-7.70], p = 0.042) and severe white matter hyperintensity (3.29 [1.21-8.96], p = 0.020) was independently associated with PDD after adjusting for vascular risk factors and other confounders. Furthermore, plasma Aβ40 levels were associated the MMSE score (p = 0.004) after adjusting for age and sex. There were inter-state differences in availability of research and disparity between animal and human research. Research on high-risk groups was limited and studies did not use the One Health approach to identify epidemiology, which can help understand the issue more comprehensively. Rats were randomly divided into five groups sham group, syringin group, CI/R group, CI/R + syringin group, and CI/R + syringin + LPS (TLR4 agonist) group. CI/R injury induced increased mNSS scores and decreased learning and memory ability of rats. Syringin could significantly protect against CI/R injury as it decreased the cerebral damage and improved the cognitive ability of CI/R rats.
