We conducted ten qualitative interviews with plan-makers from Germany and adopted a grounded theory approach to identify their beliefs that underlie the process of formulating FRMPs as well as their perceived role in this process. The analysis reveals a dominance of shared substantive and relational beliefs that are obstructive to a greater uptake of NBS in FRMPs. In particular, identified beliefs about NBS often do not align with their self-perception of their role in being the "plan-makers". Three of the six simulation experiments were developed with assimilating data (TECO C model with C data [C-C], TECO C-N coupling model with C and N data [CN-CN], and TECO C-N-P model with C, N, and P data [CNP-CNP]), and the other three ones were simulated without assimilating data (C-only, CN-only, and CNP-only).   • The purpose of this study was to report the outcomes of interpositional osteotomy with mineralized allograft in the treatment of alveolar vertical defects in preparation for implant placement. Thirteen defects (11 maxillary and two mandibular) were treated with osteotomy segments ranging in length from two to five missing teeth. The segments were positioned 5-7 mm coronally, with the gap space filled with allograft and then fixated with titanium hardware. Vertical bone augmentation was analyzed by superimposing pre- and post-surgical cone beam computed tomography images and stratified based on the length and number of missing teeth in each edentulous segment. The mean vertical bone gain was 3.7 ± 1.6 mm in the area of greatest vertical defect and the mean length of the transport segment was 20.5 ± 8.1 mm. These segments represented two-, three-, four-, or five-tooth edentulous sites; the mean vertical bone gain for these segments was 1.7 ± 0.5 mm, 3.8 ± 1.0 mm, 4.6 ± 0.9 mm, and 6.7 ± 0.0 mm, respectively. Stability of vertical height gain was found to be directly proportional to the span length of the osteotomy segment, with the largest five-tooth segment achieving the greatest gain.     The effects and safety of early rehabilitation in intensive care units (ICU) remain unclear for patients after acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

    Using Japanese Diagnosis Procedure Combination inpatient data between July 2010 and March 2018, we identified 31,603 adult patients with AMI who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention on the day of admission and who were admitted to the ICU for more than three consecutive days. Patients who started a rehabilitation program within three days of ICU admission were included in the early rehabilitation group, while others were included in the usual care group. The primary outcome was activities of daily living (ADL) at discharge, as measured using the Barthel Index score. We conducted inverse probability of treatment weighting analyses.

    The data of 31,603 patients were examined, 5,147 of whom were assigned to the early rehabilitation group. In the weighted cohort, the Barthel Index score at discharge was not significantly different between the two groups. The early rehabilitation group had a significantly shorter hospital stay, shorter ICU stay, and lower total hospitalization costs.

    No correlations were observed between early rehabilitation and ADL at discharge. However, the present results suggest that early rehabilitation is safe and associated with lower hospital costs and shorter hospital stays after AMI.

    Hypertension (HTN) is a chronic non-communicable disease influenced by non-modifiable risk factors, such as sex and age, as well as modifiable risk factors such as lifestyle, including diet and smoking. Moreover, diet quality among smokers is worse than that of non-smokers, mainly in terms of antioxidant content. Thus, the current study aimed to investigate whether dietary total antioxidant capacity (dTAC) influences the association between smoking and HTN.

    This cross-sectional study included 4303 graduates (69.35% women) from the Cohort of Minas Gerais Universities (CUME) project. An online food frequency questionnaire was administered to participants, and dTAC was estimated using the ferric reducing antioxidant power method. In the questionnaires, individuals reported smoking status, systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, previous HTN diagnosis, and use of antihypertensive drugs. Logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio and 95% confidence interval between smoking and HTN, stratified by the median dTAC. Current and former smokers had higher dTAC values despite their lower fruit intake. Moreover, coffee was the main contributor to dTAC among them. Smoking was associated with a higher likelihood of HTN, mainly among individuals with a higher dTAC. However, after exclusion of coffee antioxidant capacity, there was an association between only smoking and HTN in individuals with lower dTAC.

    Traditionally, implantation of Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs) is performed via median sternotomy. Recently, less invasive thoracotomy approaches are growing in popularity as they involve less surgical trauma, potentially less bleeding, and may preserve right ventricular function. We hypothesized implantation of LVADs via thoracotomy has less perioperative right ventricular failure (RVF) and shorter postoperative length of stay (LOS).

    Continuous flow LVAD implants from Intermacs between February 6, 2014 - December 31, 2018 were identified. Patients implanted via thoracotomy were propensity matched in a 11 ratio with patients implanted via sternotomy. Outcomes were compared between sternotomy and thoracotomy approach and by device type (axial, centrifugal-flow with hybrid levitation (CF-HL), centrifugal-flow with full magnetic levitation devices (CF-FML)). The primary outcome was time to first moderate or severe RVF. Secondary outcomes included survival and LOS.

This study aimed to determine the associations between circulating RANTES level and overall AS conditions of cardiac and cerebral vessel beds in patients with ICVD. The results revealed that treatment with ACE inhibitors or ARBs plus TGs resulted in significantly greater reductions in 24-h urinary total protein (UTP) levels (trial duration 6 months, MD -2.09; 95% CI -2.89, -1.29) compared with treatment using ACE inhibitors or ARBs alone. Additionally, ACE inhibitors or ARBs plus TGs showed better results after long-term administration. Treatment with ACE inhibitors or ARBs plus TGs resulted in significantly greater reductions in serum creatinine (SCr) compared with ACE inhibitors or ARBs alone (MD -9.87; 95% CI -13.76, -5.97). Conclusion In patients with DN, adding TGs to ACE inhibitors or ARBs significantly lowered both the 24-h UTP and SCr levels.   • Our data establish that endogenous aSyn expression level plays a key role in fibrillar aSyn prion-like seeding, supporting that endogenous aSyn expression level participates in selective regional brain vulnerability.The effects of stacking periodicity on the electronic and optical properties of GaAs/AlAs superlattice have been explored by density functional theory calculations. Among the (GaAs)m/(AlAs)m, (GaAs)1/(AlAs)m and (GaAs)m/(AlAs)1 (m = 1 to 5) superlattices, the band gaps of (GaAs)m/(AlAs)1 superlattices decrease significantly as the layer of GaAs increases, and the cut-off wavelengths are found to locate in the near infrared region. For (GaAs)m/(AlAs)1 SLs, the conduction bands shift toward Fermi level, resulting in the smaller band gap, while conduction bands of (GaAs)1/(AlAs)n SLs slightly shift to higher energy, which lead to comparable band gaps. The layer number of GaAs shows negligible effects on the reflectivity spectra of superlattice structures, while the absorption coefficient shows a red-shift with the increasing layer of GaAs, which is beneficial for the application of GaAs/AlAs superlattice in the field of near infrared detector. These results demonstrate that controlling the number of GaAs layers is a good method to engineer the optoelectronic properties of GaAs/AlAs superlattice.Endometriosis shares similarities with several autoimmune diseases. The human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-C genotype is associated with several human autoimmune diseases. HLA-C is a ligand of killer cell immunoglobulin receptors (KIRs) and is an essential regulator of natural killer cell activity, which is associated with endometriosis progression. Polymorphisms in HLA-C and KIR affect the activity of NK cells and susceptibility to several diseases. Therefore, we attempted to investigate an association between HLA-C genotype and KIR polymorphism and the occurrence of endometriosis. We tested the association of certain KIR and HLA-C combinations and the development of endometriosis by characterizing both KIR and HLA-C genes in 147 women with endometriosis and 117 controls. The HLA-C genotypes and KIR polymorphisms were analyzed via DNA-based method for higher-resolution genotyping. We found that the occurrence of HLA-C*0303*01 was increased in endometriosis than in control groups. Analysis of various KIR haplotypes revealed differences between the endometriosis and control cohorts. The number of KIR centromeric A/A haplotypes was increased in the endometriosis group than controls. Moreover, the endometriosis cohort was characterized by reduced number of KIR2DS2-positive individuals in the Han Chinese population. Our current findings suggest that the KIR and HLA-C genotypes are associated with the pathogenesis of endometriosis.Mutations in RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) such as TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) and fused in sarcoma (FUS) are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). From a pool of 6,100 individuals, both genetic and epidemiological data of 1,671 individuals were selected 350 because they were previously diagnosed with cancer and 1,321 to match to those individuals that had cancer, based on age, sex, and ethnicity serving as a comparison group. Results of this study showed that when analyzing the individuals affected by cancer separately, tooth loss/edentulism is associated with SNPs in AXIN2 (rs11867417 p = 0.02 and rs2240308 p = 0.02), and leukoplakia of oral mucosa is associated with both AXIN2 (rs2240308 p = 0.03) and RHEB (rs2374261 p = 0.03). These phenotypes did not show the same trends in patients that were not diagnosed with cancer, allowing for the conclusion that these phenotypes are unique to cases with higher cancer risk.We quantitatively evaluated breast tumor movement and volume changes between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans in prone and supine positions. After a short prelude emphasizing the importance of increasing the atom efficiency of high cost, precious platinum nanoparticles (NPs) which are known to be one of the highest activity catalysts for hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of AB, this article reviews all the available reports on the use of platinum-based catalysts for this hydrolysis reaction covering (i) early tested platinum catalysts, (ii) platinum(0) NPs supported on oxides, (iii) platinum(0) NPs supported on carbonaceous materials, (iv) supported platinum single-atom catalysts, (v) bimetallic- and (vi) multimetallic-platinum NP nanocatalysts, and (vii) magnetically separable platinum-based catalysts. All the reported results are tabulated along with the important parameters used in the platinum-catalyzed hydrolysis of AB.   • To understand recent literature that examines associations between food insecurity and cardiometabolic conditions and risk factors. We included original research, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses on the topic of food insecurity and cardiometabolic risk published from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2020. Editorials, perspectives, and case reports were excluded. After the initial search, 3 reviewers selected studies for inclusion based on relevance and methods. Ultimately, fifty studies were included.

    We included 35 studies of adults (20 cross-sectional observational studies, 5 longitudinal observational studies, 5 interventional studies, and 5 meta-analyses/reviews). In adults, food insecurity is associated with greater prevalence of overweight/obesity (especially for women). It is also associated with hypertension, diabetes (including worse glycemic control and more diabetes complications), coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, and chronic kidney disease. We included 15 studies ar in children. Overt cardiometabolic clinical conditions develop more rarely in children, but childhood experiences may set a trajectory for worse health later in life. Detailed life course epidemiologic studies are needed to better understand this relationship. Future interventions should examine how to reduce the prevalence of food insecurity, and how best to improve health for those who experience food insecurity.
    To report a case of iatrogenic durotomy with symptomatic Chiari-like deformity in a patient after undergoing anterior vertebral body growth modulation (AVBGM) in skeletally immature patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). There have not been reports of iatrogenic durotomy in the literature and its management after AVBGM.

    A 13-year-old skeletally immature girl underwent successful AVBGM for thoracic AIS from T6 to T12. Despite uneventful post-operative hospitalization, the patient suffered from recurrent and persistent bouts of headaches that were mostly orthostatic. At 3months post-op, an MRI was performed on the suspicion of a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak due to an iatrogenic durotomy. On MRI, decreased volume of CSF and a decrease in the dural sac diameter were observed. Furthermore, a pseudo-meningocele was seen at the last level of instrumentation.

    After an unsuccessfully trial of epidural blood patch combined with 5days of supine immobilization, the patient was consented to screw revision as well as a lumbar drain. The lumbar drain was installed to redirect the CSF leak to allow the durotomy to heal. After 11days, the drain was removed based on the favorable clinical evolution.

    Iatrogenic durotomy is a rare complication in AVBGM. This is the first report of such a case that involves a Chiari-like deformity on initial MRI investigation. We suggest that an MRI is performed for all patients presenting with symptoms of CSF leak after AVBGM.

MicroRNA (miRNA) plays an important role in this genetic regulation and contributes to the enhancement of viral RNA binding through the host mRNA.

    Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is an important indicator when evaluating prognosis and disease-related treatments. Our current knowledge of the HRQoL outcomes of unruptured intracranial aneurysm (UIA) patients treated by the endovascular intervention appeared to be very limited. To fill this gap, the present study investigated the HRQoL outcomes and identified the influencing factors in UIA patients treated by endovascular intervention.

    This work was to study the prehospital time among suspected stroke patients who were transported by an emergency medical service (EMS) system using a national database.

    National EMS database of suspected stroke patients who were treated by EMS system across 77 provinces of Thailand between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2018, was retrospectively analyzed. Demographic data (i.e., regions, shifts, levels of ambulance, and distance to the scene) and prehospital time (i.e., dispatch, activation, response, scene, and transportation time) were extracted. Time parameters were also categorized according to the guidelines.

    Total 53,536 subjects were included in the analysis. Most of the subjects were transported during 06.00-18.00 (77.5%) and were 10 km from the ambulance parking (80.2%). Half of the subjects (50.1%) were served by advanced life support (ALS) ambulance. Median total time was 29 min (IQR 21, 39). There was a significant difference of median total time among ALS (30 min), basic (27 min), and first responder (28 min) ambulances, Holm P = 0.009. Although 91.7% and 88.3% of the subjects had dispatch time ≤ 1 min and activation time ≤ 2 min, only 48.3% had RT ≤ 8 min. However, 95% of the services were at the scene ≤ 15 min.

    Home-based robotic therapy is a trend of post-stroke upper limb rehabilitation. Although home-based upper limb rehabilitation robots have been developed over several decades, no design specification has been published.

    To identify and synthesize design requirements considering user and technology needs for a home-based upper limb rehabilitation robot through a scoping review.

    Studies published between 1 January 2000 and 10 June 2020 in Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed database regarding design requirements for upper limb rehabilitation robots from of stroke survivors or therapists were identified and analyzed. We use 'requirement' as something that is needed or wanted. Two physiotherapists ranked the requirements identified from literature review.

They identified 42 requirements regarding functionality (n=11, 26.2% of total requirements), usability (n=16, 38.0% of total requirements), software (n=14, 33.3% of total requirements) and safety (n=1, 2.4% of total ref a design specification.     Tobacco smoking is a major driver of premature mortality in people with serious mental illness (SMI; e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder). This systematic literature review described randomized control trials of psychosocial smoking cessation interventions for people with SMI, rated their methodological rigor, evaluated the inclusion of racial/ethnic and sexual/gender minorities, and examined smoking cessation outcomes.
    Eligible studies included peer-reviewed articles published between 2009 and 2020 that examined psychosocial smoking cessation interventions in people with SMI. We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis guidelines to conduct our review and the Methodological Quality Rating Scale to evaluate methodological rigor.

This work was to study the prehospital time among suspected stroke patients who were transported by an emergency medical service (EMS) system using a national database. National EMS database of suspected stroke patients who were treated by EMS system across 77 provinces of Thailand between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2018, was retrospectively analyzed. Demographic data (i.e., regions, shifts, levels of ambulance, and distance to the scene) and prehospital time (i.e., dispatch, activation, response, scene, and transportation time) were extracted. Time parameters were also categorized according to the guidelines. Total 53,536 subjects were included in the analysis. Most of the subjects were transported during 06.00-18.00 (77.5%) and were 10 km from the ambulance parking (80.2%). Half of the subjects (50.1%) were served by advanced life support (ALS) ambulance. Median total time was 29 min (IQR 21, 39). There was a significant difference of median total time among ALS (30 min), basic (27 min), and first responder (28 min) ambulances, Holm P = 0.009. Although 91.7% and 88.3% of the subjects had dispatch time ≤ 1 min and activation time ≤ 2 min, only 48.3% had RT ≤ 8 min. However, 95% of the services were at the scene ≤ 15 min. To identify and synthesize design requirements considering user and technology needs for a home-based upper limb rehabilitation robot through a scoping review. Studies published between 1 January 2000 and 10 June 2020 in Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed database regarding design requirements for upper limb rehabilitation robots from of stroke survivors or therapists were identified and analyzed. We use 'requirement' as something that is needed or wanted. Two physiotherapists ranked the requirements identified from literature review. Nine studies were selected for review. They identified 42 requirements regarding functionality (n=11, 26.2% of total requirements), usability (n=16, 38.0% of total requirements), software (n=14, 33.3% of total requirements) and safety (n=1, 2.4% of total ref a design specification. Average enrichment factor (EF) and modified hazard quotient (mHQ) for Pb and Cu were categorized as moderate. Modified pollution index (MPI) and modified ecological risk index (MRI) values suggested moderate to heavy pollution and low ecological risk, respectively. The values of sediment quality guidelines (SQGs), ecological contamination index (ECI), contamination severity index (CSI), and toxic risk index (TRI) were all similar, reflecting low to moderate contamination and toxicity. Typha latifolia L. showed good phytostabilization capability for Cd, Cu, and Pb, and phytoextraction capacity for Zn. Using the metal accumulation index (MAI) and the comprehensive bioconcentration index (CBCI), Typha latifolia L. was shown to have acceptable performance in the accumulation of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn and thus, can be considered a good candidate for bioaccumulation of these elements in the study area. Measures of psychosis provided independent variables for multi-stage logistic regressions, with suicidal thoughts and attempts as dependent variables. Here we investigate how a molecule that has reasonable solubility in both hydrophobic and hydrophilic environments can be directed to certain regions in SC by changing the skin hydration. We use 1,2,3-trimethoxy propane (TMP) as a model substance and solid-state NMR on natural abundance 13C to obtain atomically resolved information on the molecular dynamics of TMP as well as SC lipid and protein components at varying hydration conditions. Upon dehydration, TMP redistributes from the hydrophilic corneocytes to the hydrophobic SC lipid regions. In this way, TMP can act to prevent the fluid-solid lipid transition in drying conditions and be present in the corneocytes in more humid conditions. Hydration can thereby be used as a switch to control the location and action of TMP or similar compounds in complex materials like SC. Diatomite is selected as a substrate to provide preferable surroundings for the uniform dispersion of nanomaterial on its surface, which enlarges the active sites that come in contact with the electrolytes, significantly improving the electrochemical properties. Combined with high conductivity and a synchronous sulfurization effect, the NiFeSx@CNTs@MnS@Diatomite electrode delivered a high specific capacitance of 552F g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1, a good rate capability of 68.4% retention at 10 A g-1, and superior cycling stability of 89.8% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles at 5 A g-1. Schizophrenia is associated with premature mortality, partly through increased suicide rates. To examine (1) if persecutory ideas, auditory hallucinations, and probable cases of psychosis are associated with suicidal thoughts or attempts cross-sectionally and prospectively, and (2) if such links are mediated by specific affective factors (depression, impulsivity, mood instability). We analysed the 2000, 2007, and 2014 British Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Surveys (APMS) separately. Measures of psychosis provided independent variables for multi-stage logistic regressions, with suicidal thoughts and attempts as dependent variables. We also conducted analyses to assess mediation by affective variables, and longitudinal analyses on a subset of the 2000 dataset. In every dataset, persecutory ideas, auditory hallucinations and probable psychosis were associated cross-sectionally with lifetime suicidal attempts and thoughts, even after controlling for confounders, with a single exception (persecutory ideation ediating role, mood instability and depression may also be targets for intervention.The barrier function of the skin is mainly assured by its outermost layer, stratum corneum (SC), which consists of dead keratin-filled cells embedded in a lipid matrix. The skin is daily exposed to an environment with changing conditions in terms of hydration and different chemicals. Here we investigate how a molecule that has reasonable solubility in both hydrophobic and hydrophilic environments can be directed to certain regions in SC by changing the skin hydration. We use 1,2,3-trimethoxy propane (TMP) as a model substance and solid-state NMR on natural abundance 13C to obtain atomically resolved information on the molecular dynamics of TMP as well as SC lipid and protein components at varying hydration conditions. Upon dehydration, TMP redistributes from the hydrophilic corneocytes to the hydrophobic SC lipid regions. In this way, TMP can act to prevent the fluid-solid lipid transition in drying conditions and be present in the corneocytes in more humid conditions. Hydration can thereby be used as a switch to control the location and action of TMP or similar compounds in complex materials like SC. The general principles described here can also have impact on other applications including lipid-based formulations in food, drug delivery and cosmetics.Based on their characteristics, transition metal layered double hydroxides have been of great scientific interest for their use in supercapacitors. Up until now, severe aggregation and low intrinsic conductivity have been the major hurdles for their application. In this work, nickel-iron sulfide nanosheets (NiFeSx) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized on diatomite using chemical vapor deposition and a two-step hydrothermal method to overcome these challenges. Synthesis of this composite successfully exploits the synergistic effect of multicomponent materials to improve the electrochemical performance. Diatomite is selected as a substrate to provide preferable surroundings for the uniform dispersion of nanomaterial on its surface, which enlarges the active sites that come in contact with the electrolytes, significantly improving the electrochemical properties. Combined with high conductivity and a synchronous sulfurization effect, the NiFeSx@CNTs@MnS@Diatomite electrode delivered a high specific capacitance of 552F g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1, a good rate capability of 68.4% retention at 10 A g-1, and superior cycling stability of 89.8% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles at 5 A g-1. Furthermore, an asymmetric supercapacitor assembled via NiFeSx@CNTs@MnS@Diatomite and graphene delivered a maximum energy density of 28.9 Wh kg-1 and a maximum power density of 9375 W kg-1 at a potential of 1.5 V. This research lays the groundwork for ideal material preparation as well as a rational design for the electrode material, including property enhancement of diatomite-based material for use in supercapacitors.
