While these symptoms were essentially refractory to the standard symptomatic treatment, further laboratory analysis revealed dramatically elevated calcitonin levels and mildly raised thyroid-stimulating hormone levels. Interestingly, repletion of thyroid hormone and treatment with lanreotide resulted in an abatement of our patient's symptoms. This temporal clinical improvement highly suggests a potential role involving thyroid-stimulating hormone and calcitonin levels in the pathogenesis of this disease, and consequently suggests a role for thyroxine in treating the associated gastrointestinal symptoms.Chromium (Cr) typically exists in either trivalent and hexavalent oxidation states in drinking water, i.e., Cr(III) and Cr(VI), with Cr(VI) of particular concern in recent years due to its high toxicity and new regulatory standards. This Account presented a critical analysis of the sources and occurrence of Cr(VI) in drinking water in the United States, analyzed the equilibrium chemistry of Cr(VI) species, summarized important redox reaction relevant to the fate of Cr(VI) in drinking water, and critically reviewed emerging Cr(VI) treatment technologies. There is a wide occurrence of Cr(VI) in US source drinking water, with a strong dependence on groundwater sources, mainly due to naturally weathering of chromium-containing aquifers. To overcome these challenges, reductive Cr(VI) treatment technologies based on the application of stannous tin or electron-releasing titanium dioxide photocatalyst hold extreme promise in the future. To moving forward in the right direction, three key questions need further exploration for the technology implementation, including effective management of residual waste, minimizing the risks of Cr(VI) re-occurrence downstream of drinking water treatment plant, and promote the socioeconomic drivers for Cr(VI) control in the future.Strengthening of the health system is a safety imperative, especially in a crisis as caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While there is a need for enhancing the number and skill sets of the public health professionals, especially the frontline workers, it will be prudent to use the digital health technologies, including artificial intelligence, in enhancing the capacity of the healthcare professional education and delivery. However, it has to be ensured that an ethical and safe approach is adopted to develop and use digital health technology and, ethically appropriate training is imparted, to enhance the capacity of the human resources for health, leading to an overall health system strengthening.There is **** discussion of adopting COVID-19 immunity certificates to allow those proven to have antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 to resume normal life and help restart the economy. This article points out issues that must be considered before adopting any such program. These issues fall into six categories the uncertain science of COVID-19 immunity; the questionable quality of COVID-19 antibody tests; practical problems with issuing such certificates; deciding how the certificates might be used; ethical and social issues they would raise, especially fairness and self-infection; and potential legal barriers. It does not ultimately take a position on whether some narrow COVID-19 immunity plans should be adopted, concluding that the answer depends on too many currently unknown conditions. But its seventh part makes recommendations to decision-makers who might consider implementing such programs.Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has been shown to be at least somewhat effective in treating patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Recently the US Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warnings of fatal cardiac toxicity from torsades de pointes (TDP) arrhythmia from HCQ receipt have been made, notwithstanding the long safe provision of HCQ to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. This has resulted in restricted access of HCQ for COVID-19 treatment. We hypothesized that HCQ and azithromycin have not been reported to cause significant acute cardiac arrhythmic mortality. We performed a literature search for the effects of HCQ and azithromycin on the heart. No TDP or related deaths were found to have been reported as a result of HCQ and azithromycin receipt in the peer-reviewed literature. On the contrary, HCQ and azithromycin were both found to substantially reduce cardiac mortality and also decrease thrombosis, arrhythmia and cholesterol in treated patients in recent peer-reviewed studies and meeting presentations. HCQ and azithromycin do not cause TDP cardiac mortality; rather, HCQ decreases cardiac events. HCQ should not be restricted in COVID-19 patients out of fear of cardiac mortality.

  • This work is focused on the use of a CZT detector for a radiation mapping with an industrial robotic arm. Measurements were carried out within the RadioRoSo experiment (Radioactive Waste Robotic Sorter), under the umbrella of EU FP7 project ECHORD++. In tests with a dual-arm robot and standard point sources of 137Cs and 60Co, a Magnox waste was mimicked. Thereafter, for relevant measurement geometries and selected shielding materials, full energy peak efficiencies were calculated using the MCNP transport code. Simulated FEP efficiency values were used for minimum detectable activity assessments for expected measurement conditions. Obtained results would be also applicable for cases of shielded lost/orphan point-like sources.Oxytocin is associated with reproductive physiology but also with welfare and positive emotions. In this study, oxytocin was measured in saliva samples of 45 pigs that were collected before being transported to the slaughterhouse, at the time of arrival and 4 h after arrival to the slaughterhouse. Two previously validated assays, one that measures free oxytocin and other that measures oxytocin linked to proteins, were used. In addition, cortisol, salivary alpha-amylase (sAA), total esterase activity (TEA), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), which are biomarkers associated with stress and pain in pigs, were measured. The results showed a decrease in free and protein-linked oxytocin concentrations at 4 h after transport compared with the time before transport, while cortisol, sAA, TEA, BChE and LDH showed an increase at 4 h after transport compared with the time before transport. Based on these results it can be concluded that the transport and lairage at slaughterhouse in the conditions of this study produce a decrease in oxytocin in the saliva of pigs that could indicate a reduced emotional well-being.β-lactoglobulin is one of the nutrition allergens present in the milk of many mammals, with the exception of human. This protein belongs to the family of lipocalins, consisting of nine antiparallel β-strands (β-A to β-I) and one α-helix. This structure allows it to serve as a nanotransporter of various nature ligands in a pH dependent manner, which allows us to confidently consider it as a reliable carrier of drugs directly into the intestine, bypassing the destructive acidic environment of the stomach. Based on the latest data, this review describes the currently known methods of reducing the allergenicity of beta-lactoglobulin, as well as the mechanisms and methods of forming complexes of this protein with ligands, which emphasizes its importance and versatility and explains the growing interest in studying its properties in recent decades, and also opens up prospects for its practical application in medicine and pharmaceuticals.Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) play an important role in central nervous diseases; however, the exact expression and co-expressed profiles in human traumatic brain injury (TBI) are still unknown. Therefore, we investigated whole blood in 12 patients with TBI and 4 healthy controls to observe expression characteristics with different severity. We identified 3,035 lncRNAs and 1,204 mRNAs differentially expressed in the severe TBI group, 2,362 lncRNAs and 656 mRNAs in the moderate group, and 433 lncRNAs and 100 mRNAs in the mild group. Enrichment analyses showed 30 signaling pathways such as inflammatory and immune response pathways. Subsequently, a lncRNA-gene co-expression network was generated for 717 lncRNA-mRNA pairs and most of them with a positive correlation. Based on GSEA analysis, we found that TBI caused severe immune abnormality reflected on Th1, Th2, and Th17 cell differentiation deficiency. Finally, the expression of one upregulated and one downregulated lncRNA was validated in all three TBI groups, which was consistent with the microarray results. We found that people with aphasia generate slower vocal compensation response to pitch-shift AAF stimuli compared with controls. However, when the timing of responses was controlled for, no significant difference in the magnitude of vocal pitch compensation was observed between aphasia and control groups. Moreover, no relationship was found between self-correction of naming errors and the timing and magnitude of vocal compensation responses to AAF. These findings suggest that slowed compensation is a potential behavioral marker of impaired sensorimotor integration in aphasia.Caring is central to providing high-quality nursing. A sample of 792 student nurses from three nursing education programmes in one academic institution completed Chinese versions of the Caring Behaviors Scale and the Nurse Stress Checklist to assess participants' caring behaviour and psychosocial responses to work-related stress, respectively. We found a statistically significant negative correlation between caring behaviour and stress perception among participants. The three most frequently reported caring behaviours were related to 'knowing the patient' (a) recognising that each patient holds unique values, (b) taking a patient's chief complaints seriously, and (c) stating that the family's best interests should be respected regarding health decisions. Completion of work, time limitations, and lack of personal interactions were sources of stress.

However, reliable access to magnetization dynamics in materials and devices on the technologically relevant ultrafast timescale, and under realistic device-operation conditions, remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate a method of ultrafast terahertz (THz) magnetometry, which gives direct access to the (sub-)picosecond magnetization dynamics even in encapsulated materials or devices in a contact-free fashion, in a fully calibrated manner, and under ambient conditions. As a showcase for this powerful method, we measure the ultrafast magnetization dynamics in a laser-excited encapsulated iron film. Our measurements reveal and disentangle distinct contributions originating from (i) incoherent hot-magnon-driven magnetization quenching and (ii) coherent acoustically-driven modulation of the exchange interaction in iron, paving the way to technologies utilizing ultrafast heat-free control of magnetism. High sensitivity and relative ease of experimental arrangement highlight the promise of ultrafast THz magnetometry for both fundamental studies and the technological applications of magnetism.Surface engineering has been shown critical for the success of perovskite solar cells by passivating the surface enriched defects and mobile species. The discovery of surface modulators with superior interaction strength to perovskite is of paramount importance since they can retain reliable passivation under various environments. Here, we report a chelation strategy for surface engineering of CsPbI2Br perovskite, in which dithiocarbamate molecules can be coordinate to surface Pb sites via strong bidentate chelating bonding. Such chelated CsPbI2Br perovskite can realize excellent passivation of surface under-coordinated defects, reaching a champion power conversion efficiency of 17.03% and an open-circuit voltage of 1.37 V of CsPbI2Br solar cells. More importantly, our chelation strategy enabled excellent device stability by maintaining 98% of their initial efficiency for over 1400 h in ambient condition. Our findings provide scientific insights on the surface engineering of perovskite that can facilitate the further development and application of perovskite optoelectronics.Brain-machine interfaces are promising tools to restore lost motor functions and probe brain functional mechanisms. In this work, we present a memristor-based neural signal analysis system, where the bio-plausible characteristics of memristors are utilized to analyze signals in the analog domain with high efficiency. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, memristor arrays are used to implement the filtering and identification of epilepsy-related neural signals, achieving a high accuracy of 93.46%. Here, we find that the TCF7L2 E-isoforms maintain, whereas the M and S isoforms disrupt morphogenesis of 3D-epithelial cell-derived organoids via regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Remarkably, TCF7L2E2 antagonizes, whereas TCF7L2M2/S2 promotes EMT-like effects in epithelial cells induced by transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) signaling. In addition, we find TGFβ signaling reduces the proportion of TCF7L2E to TCF7L2M/S protein in cells undergoing EMT. We also find that TCF7L2 operates via TGFβ-Smad3 signaling to regulate EMT. As a showcase for this powerful method, we measure the ultrafast magnetization dynamics in a laser-excited encapsulated iron film. Our measurements reveal and disentangle distinct contributions originating from (i) incoherent hot-magnon-driven magnetization quenching and (ii) coherent acoustically-driven modulation of the exchange interaction in iron, paving the way to technologies utilizing ultrafast heat-free control of magnetism. Here, we report a chelation strategy for surface engineering of CsPbI2Br perovskite, in which dithiocarbamate molecules can be coordinate to surface Pb sites via strong bidentate chelating bonding. Such chelated CsPbI2Br perovskite can realize excellent passivation of surface under-coordinated defects, reaching a champion power conversion efficiency of 17.03% and an open-circuit voltage of 1.37 V of CsPbI2Br solar cells. More importantly, our chelation strategy enabled excellent device stability by maintaining 98% of their initial efficiency for over 1400 h in ambient condition. This was a secondary analysis of the 2016-2017 National Survey of Children's Health. The sample consisted of parents and their children (n = 1,900, weighted n = 5,375,670). Data were weighted to be representative of the US population and analyzed using descriptive statistics and linear regression. We found that only 6.3% of children aged 6-17 with an MEB were optimally flourishing. Parental aggravation was negatively associated with child flourishment, and parental coping was positively associated with child flourishment. In total, 66.5% of families with children exhibited resilience. Parental coping and availability of parental emotional support were positively associated with family resilience. Potential interventions that leverage study findings include parent training to increase parental emotional regulation (e.g., increase frustration tolerance, coping skills) and family navigation services to increase parental support (e.g., emotional support, coping skills) through the child's treatment trajectory. Despite having an equivalent GGDEF-EAL domain arrangement, RmdA cleaves c-di-GMP to GMP and exhibits residual DGC activity. We show that an intact EAL motif is crucial for the in vivo function of both enzymes since strains expressing protein variants with an AAA motif instead of EAL are delayed in development, similar to null mutants. Transcriptome analysis of ∆cdgB, ∆cdgC, ∆rmdA, and ∆rmdB strains revealed that the c-di-GMP specified by these enzymes has a global regulatory role, with about 20% of all S. venezuelae genes being differentially expressed in the cdgC mutant.   • Health disparities are associated with poor outcomes related to public health. The objective of this study was to assess health disparities associated with influenza infection based on median household income and educational attainment.

    We geocoded people with documented confirmed influenza infection by home address to identify the US Census 2010 tract in which they lived during 4 influenza surveillance seasons (2013-2014, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018) in Rhode Island. We dichotomized influenza as severe if the person with influenza infection was hospitalized (ie, inpatient) or as nonsevere if the person was not hospitalized (ie, outpatient). We examined 2 socioeconomic factors median household income (defined as low, medium low, medium high, and high) and educational attainment (defined as a ratio among people who completed <high school, high school, some college, or ≥bachelor's degree). We calculated relative rates (RRs) to determine the associated level of risk for each socioeconomic factor.

    A majority of bloodstream infections seen in intensive care units stem from intravascular catheters used on patients. Catheter hubs are the entrance for pathogenic microorganisms into the inner surfaces of the catheters. The pathogenic microorganisms colonization in the mentioned areas can cause central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI).

    This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effect of alcohol-containing caps on the prevention of CLABSI. Total of 95 patients participated in the study. Isopropyl alcohol-containing caps were used for protecting the needle-free connectors closing the hubs of the central venous catheters in the intervention group. However, the control group patient received standard catheter caps.

    The aim of this study is to show the pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PES) material accumulated in the lens anterior capsule and the trace elements directly with using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and to investigate the effect of PES materials on aqueous humor by chemical analyses.

    The study groups consisted of 30 patients with PES and 30 patients without PES. 0.1-0.3 mL of aqueous humor was aspirated from anterior chamber and anterior capsule sample was obtained by applying continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis. The level of selected elements (Zn, Cu, Se, Fe, Si, Al, Ca, K) were determined from aqueous humor samples via Inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) machine. Mean CMT decreased from 409 ± 136 to 323 ± 87 µm at 6 weeks ( = 0.001) and to 298 ± 98 µm at 3 months ( = 0.01). Mean height of SRF decreased from 153 ± 126 to 73 ± 79 µm at 6 weeks ( = 0.001) and to 49 ± 88 µm at 3 months ( = 0.005). Complete resolution of SRF was achieved in 20 patients after 3 months (67%). Reported stress in the medical history was the only statistical significant predictive factor associated with a positive treatment response. Catheter hubs are the entrance for pathogenic microorganisms into the inner surfaces of the catheters. The pathogenic microorganisms colonization in the mentioned areas can cause central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI). This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effect of alcohol-containing caps on the prevention of CLABSI. Total of 95 patients participated in the study. Isopropyl alcohol-containing caps were used for protecting the needle-free connectors closing the hubs of the central venous catheters in the intervention group. However, the control group patient received standard catheter caps. There was a statistically significant difference between groups in terms of infection distribution (X2 = 13.058; < 0.001). The risk of infection in the control group was 13.7 times higher than the risk of infection in the intervention group. The aim of this study is to show the pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PES) material accumulated in the lens anterior capsule and the trace elements directly with using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and to investigate the effect of PES materials on aqueous humor by chemical analyses. The study groups consisted of 30 patients with PES and 30 patients without PES. 0.1-0.3 mL of aqueous humor was aspirated from anterior chamber and anterior capsule sample was obtained by applying continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis. The level of selected elements (Zn, Cu, Se, Fe, Si, Al, Ca, K) were determined from aqueous humor samples via Inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) machine. The morphology and elemental distribution of anterior lens capsules were carried out via a Zeiss Sigma 300 scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (semiquantitative EDX).   • The optic nerve (ON) becomes taut during adduction beyond ~26° in healthy people and patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), but only retracts the globe in POAG. We used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate this difference.

    MRI was obtained in 2-mm quasi-coronal planes in central gaze, and smaller (~23-25°) and larger (~30-31°) adduction and abduction in 21 controls and 12 POAG subjects whose intraocular pressure never exceeded 21mmHg. ON cross-sections were analyzed from the globe to 10 mm posteriorly. Area centroids were used to calculate ON path lengths and changes in cross-sections to calculate elongation assuming volume conservation.

    For both groups, ON path was nearly straight (<102.5% of minimum path) in smaller adduction, with minimal further straightening in larger adduction. ON length was redundant in abduction, exceeding 103% of minimum path for both groups. For normals, the ON elongated 0.4±0.5 mm from central gaze to smaller adduction, and 0.4±0.5 mm further from smaon. In POAG with mild to severe visual field loss, the relatively inelastic ON tethers and retracts the globe during adduction beyond ~26°, transfering stress to the optic disc that could contribute to progressive neuropathy during repeated eye movements.Objective To investigate the application of retroauricular sulcus incision in surgery for benign tumor in superficial lobe of parotid gland. Methods A total of 20 patients were reviewed who underwent the resection of benign tumor in the superficial lobe of parotid gland with retroauricular sulcus incision at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, the Linyi City People Hospital between May 2015 and March 2017. There were 12 males and 8 females with an age range of 12-66 years old, including 15 cases with mixed tumor and 5 cases with adenolymphoma. Surgical procedure included facial never dissection from the main trunk to facial never cervical trunk, temporal trunk and peripheral branches. After resection of tumor and superficial lobe of parotid gland, and sternocleidomastoid muscle flap was used to fill the defect in parotid area. All patients were postoperatively followed up after surgery. Results Surgeries were successfully operated in all patients. Follow-up for 2 years showed there was no presence of recurrence, salivary fistula, Frey syndrome, scar affecting facial appearance, or significant deformity in the surgical area. Conclusion Surgery for superficial lobe of parotid gland and facial nerve dissection through retroauricular sulcus incision have some advantages such as incision concealment, simple procedure for facial nerve dissection, simultaneous repair of tissue defects with sternocleidomastoid muscle flap, and less complications.Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common skin disease affecting 20% of the population beginning usually before one year of age. Multiple autoantigens have been described to elicit an IgE-dependent response in this context. This IgE autoimmunity starts in infancy and is associated with disease severity. Furthermore, the overall prevalence of autoreactive IgE to multiple auto-antigens is high in AD patients. IgE-antigen complexes can promote a facilitated antigen presentation, a skewing of the adaptive response toward type 2 immunity, and a chronic skin barrier dysfunction and inflammation in patients or AD models. In AD, skin barrier defects and the atopic immune environment facilitate allergen sensitization and the development of other IgE-mediated allergic diseases in a process called the atopic march. Participants were drawn from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children cohort; individuals from the index cohort of young people (N=9) and from the parent generation (N=5) took part in two separate 90-minute focus groups. The discussions were audio recorded and subjected to qualitative analysis. Results Participants were generally supportive of the collection of social media data to facilitate health and social research. They felt that their trust in the cohort study would encourage them to do so. Concern was expressed about the collection of data from friends or connections who had not consented. In terms of best practice for collecting the data, participants generally preferred the use of anonymous data derived from social media to be shared with researchers. This allowed us to discover highly reproducible gene expression profiles of distinct cellular compartments identifiable by cell surface markers in this particular tumor model.

  • The chemokine receptor CXCR4, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) capable of heteromerizing with other GPCRs, is involved in many processes, including immune responses, hematopoiesis, and organogenesis. Evidence suggests that CXCR4 activation reduces thrombin/protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR1)-induced impairment of endothelial barrier function. However, the mechanisms underlying cross-talk between CXCR4 and PAR1 are not well-understood. Using intermolecular bioluminescence resonance energy transfer and proximity ligation assays, we found that CXCR4 heteromerizes with PAR1 in the HEK293T expression system and in human primary pulmonary endothelial cells (hPPECs). A peptide analog of transmembrane domain 2 (TM2) of CXCR4 interfered with PAR1CXCR4 heteromerization. In HTLA cells, the presence of CXCR4 reduced the efficacy of thrombin to induce β-arrestin-2 recruitment to recombinant PAR1 and enhanced thrombin-induced Ca2+ mobilization. Whereas thrombin-induced extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) phosphorylation occurred more transiently in the presence of CXCR4, peak ERK1/2 phosphorylation was increased when compared with HTLA cells expressing PAR1 alone. CXCR4-associated effects on thrombin-induced β-arrestin-2 recruitment to and signaling of PAR1 could be reversed by TM2. In hPPECs, TM2 inhibited thrombin-induced ERK1/2 phosphorylation and activation of Ras homolog gene family member A. CXCR4 siRNA knockdown inhibited thrombin-induced ERK1/2 phosphorylation. Articles that presented results on the external contamination of commercial vials were included. Twenty-four articles were identified from 11 countries. A total of 4248 vials were sampled from 28 manufacturers. Traces were found on 56% (2379/4248) of vials. A maximum of 150 000 ng was measured on a glass vial of fluorouracil. This literature review showed that the exterior of the majority of commercial antineoplastic vials was contaminated. Manufacturers should limit this contamination. Centres are also encouraged to clean the vials on receipt. Inin pharmacy, practitioners were challenged with the task of integratingperson-centred consultation techniques as part of the pharmacy processes they were required to complete within their everyday activities. Therefore, a set of person-centred questions were developed, using concepts from GROW and the Four E's, to create guides for practitioners to use within each of the pharmacy processes they commonly undertook.

Nevertheless, research on beliefs about maternal sensitivity is still scarce, to an even greater extent in the context of child disability. This inquiry aimed to describe beliefs about sensitive parenting among mothers of children with developmental disabilities and to examine how those beliefs relate to sociodemographic factors and perceived stress. Participants included 40 mothers with a child up to 7 years of age with a developmental disability. Mothers reported on sociodemographic factors and daily hassles and sorted an adapted version of the Maternal Behavior Q-Sort. Results revealed a strong convergence between maternal beliefs about the ideal mother and the attachment theory's concept of sensitivity. Daily hassles predicted beliefs about the ideal mother. Then, the utilization of such enzyme nanoreactors in attenuating tumor hypoxia, modulating extracellular matrix, and amplifying tumor oxidative stress is discussed in depth. Afterward, some perspectives are presented on the future development of such enzyme nanoreactors in TME modulation and enhanced cancer treatment.

    Detection of Legionella by culture was done by using two methods, direct culture on agar plates and co-culture with amoeba. Fifty samples were taken from different hot springs in northern Algeria, including swimming pools, showers and thermal sources. Legionella pneumophila serotypes were predominant, accounting for 60% of positive samples. Direct method allowed the isolation of 13 L. pneumophila only of 50 samples (26%), whereas co-culture using a panel of three free living amoeba allowed the isolation of 119 Legionella species from the same samples (80%) CONCLUSIONS Amoeba co-culture allowed the isolation of several Legionella sp., while direct culture allowed the isolation of L. pneumophila only.     We describe three patients, a 60-year-old female, 43-year-old female, and 46-year-old male, who were hospitalized in surge ICUs during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in the early spring of 2020. All developed hyperpyrexia, defined as a temperature above 41.1°C, following an increase in dexmedetomidine dosing to above 1.5 µg/kg/hr. Fevers resolved following discontinuation of dexmedetomidine.

    Localized orbital rhabdomyosarcoma (oRMS) has an overall favourable prognosis with more than 90% of survival. Little is known about the best strategy in recurrent/refractory (R/R) cases. The purpose is to examine the characteristics of patients with R/R-oRMS, focusing on local therapy.

    This is bicentric retrospective study. Analysis is of young patients (<30years) with R/R-oRMS who were treated from 1989 to 2018 at the Institut Curie and Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus, France.

    Twenty-seven out of 162 patients (17%) with oRMS presented with R/R disease. 6 of these patients had alveolar RMS (22%), 3 of whom had initial parameningeal extension (11%). During first-line treatment, 18 patients (67%) had orbital radiotherapy. Median age at R/R was 10years (ranges 4-28) after a delay of 19months from diagnosis (ranges 3-40). Tumoral events were local relapses (22 cases), local progression (3 cases) or regional relapses (2 cases). Second-line treatments included chemotherapy (27 cases), radiotherapy (16 cases), (ranges 4-28) after a delay of 19 months from diagnosis (ranges 3-40). In the ethanol oxidation electrocatalysis, the Rh47 Pt53 WNWs featured with abundant TBs and GBs show the greatest mass activity (0.655 A ⋅ mg-1Pt , 2.9 times to the commercial Pt/C) and durability. Our work captures the core of reaction kinetics on regulating the nucleus attachment and enables the rational control over the nanocrystal morphology and defect.

Herein, we demonstrate that muscle-specific deletion of the fukutin gene (Myf5/fktn-KO **** (Fktn KO)), a model of secondary dystroglycanopathy, wo primary conclusions can be drawn from this data (1) fukutin deletion produces intrinsic muscular metabolic defects that likely contribute to dystroglycanopathy disease pathology, and (2) AICAR treatment accelerates recovery of muscle contractile function following injury suggesting AMPK signalling as a possible target for therapeutic strategies.

METHODS #1 Systematic literature review of published studies with at least 100 participants. Does fukutin deficiency in skeletal muscle cause mitochondrial dysfunction, and if so, can AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) stimulation via 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide attenuate this through regulation of mitochondrial biogenesis and autophagy? What is the main finding and its importance? Mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with fukutin deficiency and AMPK stimulation may benefit muscle contractility to a greater extent than mitochondrial function. Disruptions in the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex (DGC) are clearly the primary basis underlying various forms of muscular dystrophies and dystroglycanopathies, but the cellular consequences of DGC disruption are still being investigated. Mitochondrial abnormalities are becoming an apparent consequence and contributor to dystrophy disease pathology. Herein, we demonstrate that muscle-specific deletion of the fukutin gene (Myf5/fktn-KO mice (Fktn KO)), a model of secondary dystroglycanopathy, wo primary conclusions can be drawn from this data (1) fukutin deletion produces intrinsic muscular metabolic defects that likely contribute to dystroglycanopathy disease pathology, and (2) AICAR treatment accelerates recovery of muscle contractile function following injury suggesting AMPK signalling as a possible target for therapeutic strategies. To review studies focusing on cilioretinal arteries (CLRA) in order to assess the overall prevalence and establish the prevalence of CLRA in a Hungarian Caucasian population. METHODS #1 Systematic literature review of published studies with at least 100 participants. METHODS #2 Non-mydriatic digital colour photographs were taken of 1000 consecutively enrolled healthy Caucasian young adult volunteers. Images were graded by two trained independent observers. Number and location of identified cilioretinal arteries were recorded and statistically analysed. RESULTS #1 Prevalence of CLRA ranges from 6.9% to 49.5%. Detection with fluorescein angiography yields the highest values followed by fundus photography and ophthalmoscopy. Unilateral presence of CLRA is between 70.30% and 93.65%, and temporal location is between 80.77% and 100%.
