To classify COVID-19, COVID-19-like and non-COVID-19 interstitial pneumonia using lung CT radiomic features.
CT data of 115 patients with respiratory symptoms suspected for COVID-19 disease were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the results of nasopharyngeal swab, patients were divided into two main groups, COVID-19 positive (C +) and COVID-19 negative (C-), respectively. C- patients, however, presented with interstitial lung involvement. A subgroup of C-, COVID-19-like (CL), were considered as highly suggestive of COVID pneumonia at CT. Radiomic features were extracted from the whole lungs. A dual machine learning (ML) model approach was used. The first one excluded CL patients from the training set, eventually included on the test set. The second model included the CL patients also in the training set.
The first model classified C + and C- pneumonias with AUC of 0.83. CL median response (0.80) was more similar to C + (0.92) compared to C- (0.17). Radiomic footprints of CL were similar to the C + ones (possibly false negative swab test). The second model, however, merging C + with CL patients in the training set, showed a slight decrease in classification performance (AUC = 0.81).

The purpose of this paper is to present and validate a new semi-automated 3D surface mesh segmentation approach that optimizes the laborious individual human vertebrae separation in the spinal virtual surgical planning workflow and make a direct accuracy and segmentation time comparison with current standard segmentation method.
The proposed semi-automatic method uses the 3D bone surface derived from CT image data for seed point-based 3D mesh partitioning. The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated on a representative patient dataset. In addition, the influence of the number of used seed points was studied. The investigators analyzed whether there was a reduction in segmentation time when compared to manual segmentation. Surface-to-surface accuracy measurements were applied to assess the concordance with the manual segmentation.
The results demonstrated a statically significant reduction in segmentation time, while maintaining a high accuracy compared to the manual segmentation. A considerably smaller error was found when increasing the number of seed points. Anatomical regions that include articulating areas tend to show the highest errors, while the posterior laminar surface yielded an almost negligible error.

This crustacean shifts its metabolism to survive under extreme environmental conditions such as hypoxia, although for a limited time. Glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase) is a key enzyme contributing to maintain blood glucose homeostasis through gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis. To our knowledge, there are no current detailed studies about cDNA or gene sequences of G6Pase from any crustacean reported. Herein we report the shrimp P. (L.) vannamei cDNA and gene sequences. The gene contains seven exons interrupted by six introns. The deduced amino acid sequence has 35% identity to other homolog proteins, with the catalytic amino acids conserved and phylogenetically close to the corresponding invertebrate homologs. Western blot, PCR and TOP/FOP luciferase activity assays were used to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying these cell behaviors. To identify areas of critical otolaryngology contributions to inpatient care resistant to disruption by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Medical records of 614 otolaryngology consults seen between January and June of 2019 and 602 seen between January and June of 2020 were reviewed. Extracted data included patient demographics, SARS-CoV-2 status, medical comorbidities, consult location, consult category, reason for consult, procedures performed, and overall outcome. Prevalence of data items was compared using t tests and Chi-squared tests.
The number of monthly consults to the otolaryngology service remained approximately stable after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there was a substantial increase in ICU consults and a decrease in ER and floor consults. The proportion of otology, rhinology, and head and neck consults decreased while that of airway consults-most of which were tracheostomy-related-greatly increased. While the top ten reasons for consult remained essentially the same, they dramatically ential and need to be addressed in the inpatient setting, whereas the significant drop in other consults suggests that they may be appropriately managed on an outpatient basis.In a clinical trial involving Japanese patients with osteoporosis, post hoc analyses were performed to evaluate the incidence of acute phase reactions (APRs) after infusion of zoledronic acid (ZOL). The results highlighted differences in baseline factors between patients with vs without APRs. Changes in efficacy indicators such as bone turnover markers (BTMs) also showed significant differences. We, therefore, investigated the factors involved in the development of APRs in Japanese patients treated with a once-yearly intravenous infusion of ZOL 5 mg for 2 years by assessing the relation between APRs and efficacy. To discover common biomarkers correlating with the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores from multi-country MRI datasets.
The first dataset comprised 112 subjects (49 men, 63 women; range, 46-94 years) at the National Hospital Organization Kyushu Medical Center. A second dataset comprised 300 subjects from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database (177 men, 123 women; range, 57-91 years). Three-dimensional T1-weighted MR images were collected from both datasets. In total, 14 deep gray matter volumes and 70 cortical thicknesses were obtained from MR images using FreeSurfer software. Total hippocampal volume and the ratio of hippocampus to cerebral volume were also calculated. Correlations between each variable and MMSE scores were assessed using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Parameters with moderate correlation coefficients (r > 0.3) from each dataset were determined as independent variables and evaluated using general linear model (GLM) analyses.
In Pearson's correlation coefficient, total and bilateral hippocampal volumes, right amygdala volume, and right entorhinal cortex (ERC) thickness showed moderate correlation coefficients (r > 0.3) with MMSE scores from the first dataset. The ADNI dataset showed moderate correlations with MMSE scores in more variables, including bilateral ERC thickness and hippocampal volume. GLM analysis revealed that right ERC thickness correlated significantly with MMSE score in both datasets. Incidental cerebellar tonsillar ectopia (ICTE) that meets the radiographic criterion for Chiari malformation type I (CMI) is an increasingly common finding in the clinical setting, but its significance is unclear. The present study examined posterior cranial fossa (PCF) morphometrics and a broad range of health instruments of pediatric ICTE cases and matched controls extracted from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) dataset.
One-hundred-six subjects with ICTE and 106 matched controls without ICTE were identified from 11,411 anatomical MRI of healthy screened pediatric subjects from the ABCD project. Subjects were matched by sex, age, body mass index, race, and ethnicity. Twenty-two brain morphometrics and 22 health instruments were compared between the two groups to identify unrecognized CMI symptoms and assess the general health impact of ICTE.

st in patients not comfortable with angiography.Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is an opportunistic infection caused by Pneumocystis jirovecii. PCP due to immunosuppressive drugs is rarely reported in the literature. Herein we present a case of PCP in a 49-year-old patient who presented with progressive shortness of breath, dry cough, and low-grade fever. History revealed that he was taking prednisolone daily for his hyperactive airway disease. His temperature was 99oF, and he had bilateral crackles in the lungs with resonant wheezing. High-resolution computed tomography showed diffuse ground-glass haze and cystic lesions in the middle and upper zones of both lungs. He was commenced on intravenous ceftriaxone and methylprednisolone based on provisional diagnosis of interstitial pneumonia. However, his condition worsened. His human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) test was reactive, and his CD4+ count was 275 cells/mm3. Bronchoalveolar lavage revealed PCP by direct immunofluorescent assay. Additional serum testing revealed marked elevation of beta-D-glucan, consistent with PCP diagnosis due to glucocorticoid use. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and voriconazole were initiated, and his respiratory symptoms started improving. In endemic areas, a persistent fever with gastrointestinal symptoms should prompt screening and early initiation of antibiotics to prevent the development of fulminant RMSF and its associated high mortality. Recent case reports describe severe sequelae of pericarditis, including cardiac tamponade, developing within days of initial COVID-19 symptoms. We present a case of pericarditis with slower onset and milder symptoms, developing over a period of a few weeks in an immunocompetent male who recovered from COVID-19 several months earlier. A 65-year-old male presented to an emergency department several times for one week of worsening chest and neck symptoms, along with fever. He had been symptom-free after a three-day course of cough, myalgias, and fever with positive COVID-19 testing, approximately 70 days earlier. He was ultimately admitted for fever and pericarditis with an associated pericardial effusion and positive PCR testing for COVID-19. PCP due to immunosuppressive drugs is rarely reported in the literature. Herein we present a case of PCP in a 49-year-old patient who presented with progressive shortness of breath, dry cough, and low-grade fever. History revealed that he was taking prednisolone daily for his hyperactive airway disease. His temperature was 99oF, and he had bilateral crackles in the lungs with resonant wheezing. High-resolution computed tomography showed diffuse ground-glass haze and cystic lesions in the middle and upper zones of both lungs. He was commenced on intravenous ceftriaxone and methylprednisolone based on provisional diagnosis of interstitial pneumonia. However, his condition worsened. His human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) test was reactive, and his CD4+ count was 275 cells/mm3. Bronchoalveolar lavage revealed PCP by direct immunofluorescent assay. Additional serum testing revealed marked elevation of beta-D-glucan, consistent with PCP diagnosis due to glucocorticoid use. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and voriconazole were initiated, and his respiratory symptoms started improving. Template methods are regarded as an important method for micro-nano processing in the active layer of flexible tactile sensors. These template methods use physical/chemical processes to introduce micro-nano structures on the active layer, which improves many properties including sensitivity, response/recovery time, and detection limit. However, since the processing process and applicable conditions of the template method have not yet formed a perfect system, the development and commercialization of flexible tactile sensors based on the template method are still at a relatively slow stage. Despite the above obstacles, advances in microelectronics, materials science, nanoscience, and other disciplines have laid the foundation for various template methods, enabling the continuous development of flexible tactile sensors. Therefore, a comprehensive and systematic review of flexible tactile sensors based on the template method is needed to further promote progress in this field. We aimed to determine the prevalence of urinary incontinence (UI) during the peri- and postpartum period in women from Nanjing, China, and estimate its risk factors.
From January to December 2018, a total of 6500 postpartum women were enrolled and asked to complete the questionnaires. Of these, 6370 (98%) women returned the questionnaires with valid responses. Additional data were collected, including age, height, weight, gestation time and parity, and neonatal weight. The International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form was used. Surface electromyography (sEMG) and a biofeedback training system were used as a testing platform, and PESEMG values were obtained.

Direct visualization of radiation-induced focal liver reaction in the form of hypo-intensity was determined. The auto-delineation approach was used to localize these regions, and center-of-mass (COM) discrepancy was quantified between the MRI hypo-intensity and the CT-based treatment plan. To assess the interfractional motion of the liver region, a planning CT was registered to a Cone Beam CT obtained before each treatment fraction. The interfractional motion assessed from this approach was then compared against the localized hypo-intense MRI regions. The mean ± SD COM discrepancy was 1.4 ± 1.3 mm in the left-right direction, 2.6 ± 1.8 mm in an anteroposterior direction, and 1.9 ± 2.6 mm in the craniocaudal direction. A high correlation was observed between interfractional motion of visualized hypo-intensity and interfractional motion of planning treatment volume (PTV); the quantified Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.96. The lack of correlation was observed between Primovist® MRI-based spatial accuracy and interfractional motion of the liver, where Pearson correlation coefficients ranged from -0.01 to -0.26. The highest random and systematic errors quantified from interfractional motion were in the craniocaudal direction. This work demonstrates a novel framework for the direct evaluation of liver SBRT spatial delivery accuracy.

Unbiased analysis of the impact of adaptive radiotherapy (ART) is necessary to evaluate dosimetric benefit and optimize clinics' workflows. The aim of the study was to assess the need for adaptive radiotherapy (ART) in head and neck (H&N) cancer patients using an automatic planning tool in a retrospective planning study.
Thirty H&N patients treated with adaptive radiotherapy were analysed. Patients had a CT scan for treatment planning and a verification CT during treatment according to the clinic's protocol. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of trimodal therapy [surgery, chemotherapy and external beam radiotherapy (EBRT)] in patients with anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) treated with curative intent.
Retrospective review of patients with ATC treated at a tertiary referral centre between January 2009 and June 2020. Data were collected regarding demographics, histology, staging, treatment and outcomes.
Seven patients (4 female) were identified. Median age was 58 years (range 52-83 years). All patients received EBRT with concurrent doxorubicin. Six patients received surgery followed by chemoradiotherapy (CRT), and one underwent neoadjuvant CRT followed by surgery. Median radiological tumour size was 50mm (range 40-90 mm). Six patients had gross extrathyroidal extension and three had N1b disease. Prescribed radiotherapy schedules were 46.4 Gy in 29 bidaily fractions (n = 2, treated 2010), 60 Gy in 30 daily fractions (n = 2), 66 Gy in 30 fractions (n = 2) and 70 Gy in 35 fractions (n = 1; patient received neoadjuvant CRT). CRT was discontinued early for two patients due to toxicities. At median follow up of 5.8 months, 42.9% (3/7) patients were alive and disease-free. Only one patient developed a local failure. Three patients died from distant metastases without locoregional recurrence.
Despite poor prognosis of ATC, selected patients with operable tumours may achieve high locoregional control rates with trimodal therapy, with possibility of long-term survival in select cases.

Pelvic lymph node (PLN) metastasis has been included in the FIGO staging, so there is a need to determine the dose contribution from brachytherapy to ascertain the total delivered dose to the pelvic lymph nodes in cervical cancer. The aim of the study was to calculate the equivalent dose in 2 Gy (EQD2) of the pelvic lymph nodes (PLNs) based on volume prescription using three applicators.
Forty-one patients who had undergone external beam radiotherapy followed by brachytherapy using tandem ovoids (TO), tandem ring (TR) and TO + free hand interstitial needles (TO + FH) applicators were taken for this study. 26 Gy in 4 fractions was prescribed to HRCTV. The external iliac node (ELN), internal iliac node (ILN) and obturator (OBT) were contoured and the median EQD2 of the lymph nodes was calculated.
The median bilateral EQD2 values of ELN were 1.55 Gy (TR), 1.75 Gy (TO), 1.9 Gy (TO + FH), of ILN these were 2.57 Gy (TR), 3.27 Gy (TO), 3.04 Gy (TO + FH), and of OBT these were 3.69 Gy (TR), 4.46 Gy (TO), 4.69 Gy (TO + FH), respectively. The total median EQD2 values of TR, TO and TO + FH were 52.71 Gy, 53.03 Gy, and 53.88-62.73 Gy, respectively.

The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of trimodal therapy [surgery, chemotherapy and external beam radiotherapy (EBRT)] in patients with anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) treated with curative intent. Retrospective review of patients with ATC treated at a tertiary referral centre between January 2009 and June 2020. Data were collected regarding demographics, histology, staging, treatment and outcomes. Seven patients (4 female) were identified. Median age was 58 years (range 52-83 years). All patients received EBRT with concurrent doxorubicin. Six patients received surgery followed by chemoradiotherapy (CRT), and one underwent neoadjuvant CRT followed by surgery. Median radiological tumour size was 50mm (range 40-90 mm). Six patients had gross extrathyroidal extension and three had N1b disease. Prescribed radiotherapy schedules were 46.4 Gy in 29 bidaily fractions (n = 2, treated 2010), 60 Gy in 30 daily fractions (n = 2), 66 Gy in 30 fractions (n = 2) and 70 Gy in 35 fractions (n = 1; patient received neoadjuvant CRT). CRT was discontinued early for two patients due to toxicities. At median follow up of 5.8 months, 42.9% (3/7) patients were alive and disease-free. Only one patient developed a local failure. Three patients died from distant metastases without locoregional recurrence. Despite poor prognosis of ATC, selected patients with operable tumours may achieve high locoregional control rates with trimodal therapy, with possibility of long-term survival in select cases. The aim of the study was to calculate the equivalent dose in 2 Gy (EQD2) of the pelvic lymph nodes (PLNs) based on volume prescription using three applicators. Forty-one patients who had undergone external beam radiotherapy followed by brachytherapy using tandem ovoids (TO), tandem ring (TR) and TO + free hand interstitial needles (TO + FH) applicators were taken for this study. 26 Gy in 4 fractions was prescribed to HRCTV. The external iliac node (ELN), internal iliac node (ILN) and obturator (OBT) were contoured and the median EQD2 of the lymph nodes was calculated. Patient education is important in the follow-up and disease management for patients with chronic inflammatory arthritis. Patients' needs for education and information varies, and it is important that the education is tailored to the individual patient. Hence, the aim of this study is to investigate whether patients' educational needs change over time, and which demographic, disease-related or self-management characteristics that are associated with patients' educational needs.

A small decrease in educational needs in the domains self-help measures (p-value 0.047) and support from others (p-value 0.010) was detected. The regression analyses showed that higher educational needs were associated with being female, lower educational level, shorter disease duration, and a lower level of patient activation.

The compound responsible for AChE inhibition (fraction 3) was identified as quercetin based on UV, FTIR spectra, HPLC and ESI-MS analyses. Furthermore, the identification of quercetin in the extract of fraction 3 was confirmed by
H NMR analysis. This extract showed anti-dementia-like activity in scopolamine (SCO) model. The minimal effective dose of the extract of fraction 3 modulated the SCO-provoked cognitive deficits such as impairments in spatial recognition memory and latency period in Y-maze test and passive avoidance test, respectively. The SCO-induced modulation in cholinergic pathway was ameliorated by the extract of N. oryzae in hippocampus, resulting in decrease in AChE activity and restoration of cytoarchitecture of hippocampus.

The aims in this study were to recruit participants from Australia and Germany to determine their use of personal protective equipment and COVID-19 avoidance strategies using scales designed for this study. Principal components analysis with the Australian data revealed two factors in the Protection from Infection Scale, Self-Care and Protective Behaviors, and a single factor in the Infection Avoidance Scale, with each scale demonstrating strong internal reliability. Data from German participants were used to confirm the scales' structure using confirmatory factor analysis. A comparison of the two data sets data revealed that Australian participants scored higher overall on protection and avoidance strategies but at the item level there were several commonalities, including self-care behaviors people adopted to avoid contracting COVID-19. With no foreseeable end to this pandemic, it is important that follow-up studies ascertain whether the public continues to adopt high levels of PPE use and follows government advice or if pandemic fatigue sets in.Amino acids are indispensable nutrients for both normal and cancer cells. In particular, we propose the glutamine recycling model to clarify the mechanism underlying aberrant SLC7A5 activation. Finally, we overview the pathological significances of SLC7A5 and SLC7A11 in cancer tissues.

Members of Plectosphaerella inhabit different substrates, including plants, soil and insects, and most species are pathogens causing large losses in agriculture. Museums and other institutions curating natural history collections (NHCs) are fundamental entities to many scientific disciplines, as they house data and reference material for varied research projects. As such, biological specimens preserved in NHCs represent accessible physical records of the living world's history. They provide useful information regarding the presence and distribution of different taxonomic groups through space and time. Despite the importance of biological museum specimens, their potential to answer scientific questions, pertinent to the necessities of our current historical context, is often under-explored.The currently-known wild bee fauna of Luxembourg comprises 341 registered species distributed amongst 38 different genera. However, specimens stored in the archives of local NHCs represent an untapped resource to update taxonomic lists, including potentially overlooked findings relevant to the development of national conservation strategies.
We re-investigated the wild bee collec Sphecodes majalis (Pérez, 1903). Additionally, the presence of Nomada sexfasciata (Panzer, 1799), which inexplicably had been omitted by the most current species list, can be re-confirmed. Altogether, our findings increase the number of recorded wild bee species in Luxembourg to 346. Moreover, the results highlight the crucial role of NHCs as repositories of our knowledge of the natural world.The genus Lagenophora Cass. is taxonomically revised for New Caledonia with two species recognised. Lagenophora sinuosa Lannuzel, Gâteblé & Jian Wang ter, sp. nov. is endemic to New Caledonia and the other, L. sublyrata (Cass.) A.R.Bean & Jian Wang ter occurs there and in many other countries from the region. Both are fully described and illustrated. An identification key is provided, as are notes on the distribution (including maps), habitat, phenology and conservation status. The generic placement of the new species is also discussed.A peculiar habitat type found in the savannahs of Central Cuba, Villa Clara Province and characterised by the presence of a surface gravel layer of "perdigones", an assemblage of small ferralitic concretions, upon the "mocarrero" soil prevailing in the area, is described. It is noteworthy for possessing long and wide creeping, stoloniform subterranean peduncles with apical gemmae developing into rooting leaf rosettes enabling vegetative propagation. Of these, three were recognized in earlier treatments for the genus, while two represent new species described here, Martinella lanuginosa Kataoka & L.G.Lohmann, sp. nov. and Martinella tomentosa Kataoka & L.G.Lohmann, sp. nov. Martinella iquitoensis A.Samp. is treated as a synonym of M. insculpta Sprague & Sandwith. This study was aimed to determine the effect of advanced pregnancy on the topography and size of the omasum in 22 healthy Murrah buffaloes. The omasum was scanned 15-20 days before and after parturition, as per the standard procedure. The dorsal and ventral margins of the omasum were identified and marked at each intercostal space (ICS). The dorsal and ventral limits up to the dorsal midline were measured. The omasum was scanned in 6th to 11th ICS during advanced pregnancy and 7th to 11th ICS after the parturition. Irrespective of the pregnancy, the dorsal and ventral margins of the omasum were located farther dorsal and close to the spine in the 6th, 7th and 11th ICS. In this study, cognitive impairment was induced in diabetics rats by streptozotocin (STZ) injection, and the differential lncRNAs and mRNAs in rat hippocampal tissue between control and STZ-treated groups were analyzed with microarray.
In the hippocampus of STZ-treated diabetic rats, lncRNA Vof-16, and Gnb3 mRNA were significantly upregulated and silicon analysis showed that Vof-16 and miR-205 share the same miRNA response element (MRE). In addition, the overexpression of Vof-16 in primary hippocampal neurons inhibited the expression of miR-205, and vice versa. Dual luciferase assay verified the binding between Vof-16 and miR-205, and Vof-16 was seen to promote the proliferation of primary hippocampal neurons via sponging miR-205. Silicon analysis predicted that miR-205 could bind with Gnb3, which was verified with dual luciferase assay, and the overexpression of miR-205 could inhibit the protein level of Gnb3, which could be rescued by co-expression with Vof-16. In conclusion, lncRNA Vof-16 regulated Gnb3 expression by competitively binding to miR-205.

Sagliker syndrome (SS) is characterized by a severe uglifying facial appearance resulting from untreated or inadequately treated secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). To date, the craniofacial morphology of patients with SS has yet to be analyzed. The present research sought to cephalometrically evaluate the craniofacial features of patients with SS and to perform an in-depth analysis of their serum biochemical parameters, with the aim of furthering the theoretical basis for the early diagnosis and prevention of SS.
A retrospective chart review of 9 patients who fulfilled the diagnostic criteria for SS were included in this study, and their serum biochemical parameters were collected. After subjecting standard lateral cephalometric radiographic images to correction for distortions caused by magnification followed by digitization, we conducted a cephalometric analysis. A prospective, self-controlled, 7-day clinical trial was conducted. The primary outcome measures were the efficacy and safety of pulsatile GnRH therapy (which was administered via the Innopump
hormone pump). The secondary outcome measures included total serum testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels.

A cross-sectional study was performed from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 using the Hospital Authority (HA) database. A total of 489,301 older patients aged 65 years and older visiting general outpatient clinics (GOPCs) during the study period were included in the study. Two categories of PIM use included in the Hong Kong-specific criteria and 2015 Beers criteria, i.e. PIMs independent of diagnoses and PIMs considering specific medical conditions, were adapted to assess the prevalence of PIM use among the study sample. Characteristics of PIM users and the most frequently prescribed PIMs were investigated for each set of the crhe adaptive Hong Kong-specific criteria could detect a higher prevalence of PIM use than the adaptive Beers criteria in older adults visiting GOPCs in Hong Kong. This cross-sectional study was conducted with the data from the China Hainan Centenarian Cohort Study. These data ultimately included basic characteristics, hematologic indicators, and chronic disease status for 1,002 centenarians. The nutritional status was evaluated using the Mini Nutritional Assessment Short-Form scale. The functional limitations were assessed using the activities of daily living (ADL) scale, namely Barthel Index and Lawton Scale. The association between nutritional status and ADL was assessed using multivariate logistic regression models.
In this study, the prevalence of malnutrition was 20.8 % among centenarians, basic ADL (BADL) limitation was 28.6 %, and instrumental ADL (IADL) limitation was 64.7 %. As the nutritional status deteriorated, the risk of ADL limitations increased in total population (BADL limitation OR = 17.060, 95 % CI 8.093-35.964; IADL limitation OR = 11.221, 95 % CI 5.853-21.511; p for trend < 0.001). Locating technologies are a subtype of assistive technology that aim to support persons with dementia by helping manage spatial orientation impairments and provide aid to care partners by intervening when necessary. Although a variety of locating devices are commercially available, their adoption has remained low in the past years. Several studies have explored barriers to the adoption of assistive technologies from the perspective of professional stakeholders, but in-depth explorations for locating technologies are sparse. Additionally, the inputs of business professionals are lacking. The aim of this study was to expand knowledge on barriers to the adoption of locating technologies from a multi-stakeholder professional perspective, and to explore strategies to optimize adoption.
In total, 22 professionals working in business (n = 7), healthcare (n = 6) and research (n = 9) fields related to gerontology and gerontechnology participated in our focus group study. Perceptions on the value of using locating show that focusing on services to increase digital autonomy and on information dissemination strategies has been largely overlooked and may be particularly effective.
Our study with interdisciplinary stakeholders expands knowledge on barriers to the adoption of locating technologies for dementia care, and reinforces recommendations that an interdisciplinary strategy is needed to optimize adoption. Also, our findings show that focusing on services to increase digital autonomy and on information dissemination strategies has been largely overlooked and may be particularly effective.
Timely recognition of colorectal cancer related symptoms is essential to reduce time to diagnosis. This study aims to investigate the primary healthcare use preceding a colorectal cancer diagnosis. From a cohort of linked cancer and primary care data, patients diagnosed with primary colorectal cancer in the period 2007-2014 were selected and matched to cancer-free controls on gender, birth year, GP practice and follow-up period. Primary healthcare use among colorectal cancer cases before diagnosis was compared with matched cancer-free controls. A cross-sectional study was performed from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 using the Hospital Authority (HA) database. A total of 489,301 older patients aged 65 years and older visiting general outpatient clinics (GOPCs) during the study period were included in the study. In humans and companion animals, obesity is accompanied by metabolic derangements. Studies have revealed differences in the composition of the fecal microbiome between obese dogs and those with an ideal body weight.
We have previously reported that the fecal microbiome in obese dogs changes after controlled weight reduction, induced by feeding a diet high in fiber and protein. Despite these findings, it is unclear if taxonomic differences infer differences at the functional level between obese dogs and those with an ideal body weight.
Untargeted fecal metabolome analysis was performed on dogs with obesity before and after weight loss achieved by feeding a high-fiber-high-protein diet.
Fecal metabolome analysis revealed a total of 13 compounds that changed in concentration in obese dogs after weight loss. Of these compounds, metabolites associated with bacterial metabolism decreased after weight loss including purine, L-(-)-methionine, coumestrol, and the alkaloids 1-methylxanthine and trigonelline. Conversely, the polyphenols (-)-epicatechin and matairesinol and the quinoline derivatives 1,5-isoquinolinediol and 2-hydroxiquinoline increased after weight loss.
These results suggest differences in intestinal microbiome at the functional level after weight loss, but further studies are needed to determine the role of these compounds in the etiology of obesity and weight loss.

Liver biopsy remains the gold standard for the diagnosing and staging of fibrosis, but it is suboptimal due to various limitations. Recently, efforts have been made to migrate toward noninvasive techniques for assessing liver fibrosis. CT is relatively easy to perform, relatively standardized for different scanners, and does not require additional hardware in liver fibrosis staging. MRI is frequently performed to characterize indeterminate liver lesions. Because it does not use ionizing radiation and features high image contrast, its role has increased in the staging of liver fibrosis. More recently, several studies on liver fibrosis staging using deep learning algorithms in CT or MRI have been proposed and have shown meaningful results. In this review, we summarize the basic concept, diagnostic performance, and advantages and limitations of each technique to noninvasively stage liver fibrosis.

Procedure revenues from this 36-month study period were derived from five payors mixes (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, out-of-pocket and managed care program) and Medicare-rate adjusted to each individual payor types.
Average case volume per month increased 12% in the hybrid Angio-CT suite when compared to the previous traditional angiography suite (P < 0.05). The variety of IR procedures in the hybrid Angio-CT suite also expanded to include more complex interventional radiology and interventional oncology procedures; the breadth of cases performed in the hybrid Angio-CT suite were associated with CPT codes of higher rates (average CPT value/case increased from $2,334.61 to $2,567.25). The estimated average annual revenue of the hybrid Angio-CT suite increased 23% as compared to previous traditional angiography suite.

The American College of Radiology Ultrasound Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (ACR US LI-RADS) Visualization Score conveys the expected level of sensitivity of screening and surveillance ultrasound exams in patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We sought to determine inter-reader agreement of the Visualization Score which is currently unknown.
Consecutive 6998 ultrasound HCC screening and surveillance studies in 3115 patients from 2017 to 2020 were retrospectively retrieved. Of these, 6154 (87.9%) studies were Visualization A (No or minimal limitations), 709 (10.1%) were Visualization B (Moderate limitations), and 135 (1.9%) were Visualization C (Severe limitations). Randomly sampled 90 studies, with 30 studies in each Visualization category, were included for analysis. Nine radiologists (3 senior attendings, 3 junior attendings and 3 body imaging fellows) blinded to the original categorization independently reviewed each study and assigned a Visualization Score. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to quantify inter-reader agreement.
ICC among all 9 radiologists was 0.70 (95% CI 0.63-0.77). ICCs among senior attendings, junior attendings and body imaging fellows were 0.68 (CI 0.58-0.76), 0.72 (CI 0.62-0.80) and 0.76 (CI 0.68-0.83), respectively. Subgroup analysis by liver parenchyma was further performed. ICC was highest in the patient group with normal liver parenchyma (0.69, CI 0.56-0.81), followed by steatosis (0.66, CI 0.54-0.79) and cirrhosis (0.58, CI 0.43-0.73), respectively.
