The mediation of social musical interactions via VR is particularly challenging due to their embodied, complex, and emotionally delicate nature. In this article, we introduce a methodological framework to operationalize social presence by a combination of factors across interrelated layers, relating to the performance output, embodied co-regulation, and subjective experiences. This framework provides the basis for the proposal of a pragmatic approach to determine the level of social presence in virtual musical interactions, by comparing the outcomes across the multiple layers with the outcomes of corresponding real-life musical interactions. We applied and tested this pragmatic approach via a case-study of piano duet performances of the piece Piano Phase composed by Steve Reich. This case-study indicated that a piano duet performed in VR, in which the real-time interaction between pianists is mediated by embodied avatars, might lead to a strong feeling of social presence, as reflected in the measures of performance output, embodied co-regulation, and subjective experience. Using an innovative software tool, we recruited a comparative sample of (n = 93) Canadians and (n = 100) Germans to draw a CAM of their experience (events, thoughts, feelings) with the Covid-19 pandemic. We treated these CAM networks as a series of directed graphs and examined the extent to which their structural properties (latent and emotional) are predictive for the perceived coronavirus threat (PCT). Across multiple models, we found consistent and significant relationships between these network variables and the PCT in both the Canadian and German sample. Our results provide unique insights into individuals' thinking and perceptions of the viral outbreak. Our results also demonstrate that a network analysis of CAMs' properties is a promising method to study the relationship between human thought and affective connotation. We suggest that CAMs can bridge several gaps between qualitative and quantitative methods. Unlike when using quantitative tools (e.g., questionnaires), participants' answers are not restricted by response items as participants are free to incorporate any thoughts and feelings on the given topic. Furthermore, as compared to traditional qualitative measures, such as structured interviews, the CAM technique may better enable researchers to objectively assess and integrate the substance of a shared experience for large samples of participants.The psychological cost on emotional well-being due to the collateral damage brought about by COVID-19 in accessing oncological services for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment has been documented by recent studies in the United Kingdom. The current study set out to examine the effect of delays to scheduled oncology services on emotional and cognitive vulnerability in women with a breast cancer diagnosis in Iran, one of the very first countries to be heavily impacted by COVID-19. One hundred thirty-nine women with a diagnosis of primary breast cancer answered a series of online questionnaires to assess the current state of rumination, worry, and cognitive vulnerability as well as the emotional impact of COVID-19 on their mental health. Results indicated that delays in accessing oncology services significantly increased COVID related emotional vulnerability. Regression analyses revealed that after controlling for the effects of sociodemographic and clinical variables, women's COVID related emotional vulnerability explained higher levels of ruminative response and chronic worry as well as poorer cognitive function.

Different variables influence the temperature distribution in the tissue and the resulting therapy efficacy; thus, the optimal therapy settings are required for obtaining the desired clinical outcome. In this work, thermomechanical modeling of contactless laser ablation was implemented to analyze the sensitivity of independent variables on the optimal treatment conditions. The Finite Element Method was utilized to solve the governing equations, i.e., the bioheat, mechanical deformation, and the Navier-Stokes equations. Validation of the model was evaluated by comparing experimental and simulated temperatures, which indicated high accuracy for estimating temperature. In particular, the results showed that the model is capable of estimating temperature with a good correlation factor (R=0.98) and low Mean Absolute Error (3.9 C).     The sensor comprises a polymeric device with a fluidic reservoir filled with a radio-dense fluid (cesium acetate) and an adjoining capillary wherein the liquid level is measured. A stainless-steel lever attaches to the plate and presses upon the acrylic bulb with a displacement proportional to plate bending strain. The sensor was attached to a plate in a Sawbones composite tibia mimic and a human cadaveric tibia. An osteotomy model (5 mm gap) was used to simulate an unstable osteotomy, and allograft repair to simulate a stiffer healed fracture. The cadaveric and Sawbones tibia were cyclically loaded five times (0-400 N) using a mechanical test stand, and fluid displacement was measured from plain radiographs.

    The sensor displayed reversible and repeatable behavior with a slope of 0.096 mm/kg and fluid level noise of 50-80 micrometer (equivalent to 5-10 N). The allograft-repaired composite fracture was 13 times stiffer than the unstable fracture.

    An analysis of prior external fracture fixation studies and fatigue curves for internal plates indicates that the threshold for safe weight bearing should be 1/5 th-1/10 th of the initial bending for an unstable fracture. Using a combination of metabolomics, transcriptomics, and functional genomics, we show that two anthracyclines, doxorubicin and epirubicin, elicit distinct primary metabolic vulnerabilities in human breast cancer cells. Doxorubicin-resistant cells rely on glutamine to drive oxidative phosphorylation and de novo glutathione synthesis, while epirubicin-resistant cells display markedly increased bioenergetic capacity and mitochondrial ATP production. The dependence on these distinct metabolic adaptations is revealed by the increased sensitivity of doxorubicin-resistant cells and tumor xenografts to buthionine sulfoximine (BSO), a drug that interferes with glutathione synthesis, compared with epirubicin-resistant counterparts that are more sensitive to the biguanide phenformin. Data was compared between subset groups within the total respondent population. Of active-duty personnel, 38.5% plan on staying in the military until retirement. Most surgeons entered into the military due to a desire to serve their country, while most people leave service due to higher pay as a civilian. A minority of military orthopaedic surgeons achieve military retirement; however, increased pay, increased control over practice, and decreased frequency of deployments are factors that could improve retention rates. Post-surveys indicated most learners (1) prefer to use standardized patients (SPs) and soft-embalmed cadavers in their physical examination courses, (2) increased their confidence in performing the Lachman exam on real patients, and (3) enhanced their Lachman technique. SPs ultimately cannot volitionally reproduce the physical exam findings of ACL deficiency. Consequently, learners cannot accurately identify positive versus negative examination findings.

  • Herein, the concentrations of formic acid, acetic acid, and ammonia in samples of indoor air for 47 new houses were measured two weeks after completion. The houses were fabricated with light-gauge steel structures. The measurements were performed in living rooms and bedrooms without furniture and outdoors. Air samples were analyzed using ion chromatography. The mean values were 28 (living room), 30 (bedroom), and 20 μg m-3 (outdoor air) for formic acid; 166 (living room), 151 (bedroom), and 51 μg m-3 (outdoor air) for acetic acid; and 73 (living room), 76 (bedroom), and 21 μg m-3 (outdoor air) for ammonia. The total values of the three substances accounted for 39.4-40.7% of the sum of chemical compound values. The proposed AFISTA reconstruction algorithm was evaluated using numerical simulated low dose projection based on two CT images and realistic low dose projection data of a sheep lung CT perfusion. Second, by using gait semantic folding, the estimated body parameters are encoded using a sparse 2D matrix to construct the structural gait semantic image. In order to achieve time-based gait recognition, an HTM Network is constructed to obtain the sequence-level gait sparse distribution representations (SL-GSDRs). A top-down attention mechanism is introduced to deal with various conditions including multi-views by refining the SL-GSDRs, according to prior knowledge. The proposed gait learning model not only aids gait recognition tasks to overcome the difficulties in real application scenarios but also provides the structured gait semantic images for visual cognition. The parallel GA that involves iterations to excessively cost its execution time for evolving an ANN learning model from massive training samples to NILM in the HEMS and works in a divide-and-conquer manner that can exploit massively parallel computing for evolving an ANN and, thus, reduce execution time drastically. This work confirms the feasibility and effectiveness of the parallel GA-embodied ANN applied to NILM in the HEMS for DSM.
    Herein, the concentrations of formic acid, acetic acid, and ammonia in samples of indoor air for 47 new houses were measured two weeks after completion. The houses were fabricated with light-gauge steel structures. The measurements were performed in living rooms and bedrooms without furniture and outdoors. Air samples were analyzed using ion chromatography. The mean values were 28 (living room), 30 (bedroom), and 20 μg m-3 (outdoor air) for formic acid; 166 (living room), 151 (bedroom), and 51 μg m-3 (outdoor air) for acetic acid; and 73 (living room), 76 (bedroom), and 21 μg m-3 (outdoor air) for ammonia. The total values of the three substances accounted for 39.4-40.7% of the sum of chemical compound values. To overcome the limitations of TV, in this paper we firstly introduce the structure tensor total variation (STV1) penalty into SIR framework for low dose CT image reconstruction. Then, an accelerated fast iterative shrinkage thresholding algorithm (AFISTA) is developed to minimize the objective function. The proposed AFISTA reconstruction algorithm was evaluated using numerical simulated low dose projection based on two CT images and realistic low dose projection data of a sheep lung CT perfusion. RESULTS A total of 86 patients (mean age 12.2 ± 4.5 years) with 76 low-grade (I or II) and 10 high-grade (III or IV) tumors were included. Tumor location included lobar (38.4%), deep (45.3%), and cerebellar (16.3%) compartments. The mean follow-up time was 24 months (median 18 months, range 3-72 months). At the last follow-up, the volume of SLA-treated tumors had decreased in 80.6% of patients with follow-up data. Patients with high-grade tumors were more likely to have an unchanged or larger tumor size after SLA treatment than those with low-grade tumors (OR 7.49, p = 0.0364). METHODS From January to September 2018, patients with L4-5 lumbar disc herniation requiring PTED were randomized to have the procedure conducted with US-MR image fusion navigation or fluoroscopy. The number of fluoroscopies, radiation dose, duration of imaging guidance, intraoperative visual analog scale (VAS) pain score, intraoperative complications, and clinical outcomes were compared between the groups. RESULTS There were 10 patients in the US-MR navigation group and 10 in the fluoroscopy group, and there were no significant differences in age, sex ratio, or BMI between the 2 groups (all p > 0.05). Intraoperatively, the total radiation dose, number of fluoroscopies performed, duration of image guidance, and VAS low-**** and leg pain scores were all significantly lower in the US-MRI navigation group than in the fluoroscopy group (all p less then 0.05).     In the recent past tumors of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, e.g. esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) and gastric adenocarcinoma, have been increasingly characterized by molecular genetics. The resulting subtypes provide potential targets for novel targeted treatment based on the biological characteristics.

    This article summarizes the current state of molecular subtyping in all three tumor entities and the individualized treatment strategies derived from these categories are discussed.

    Sjogren's syndrome (SS) is achronic autoimmune disease characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of the exocrine glands. It can be associated with other connective tissue diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

    This study aimed to determine the incidence of secondary SS (sSS) in patients diagnosed with SLE (SLE-SS) and compare the clinical and serological features of SLE-SS to SLE only.

    Aretrospective observational study including patients diagnosed with SLE (SLICC criteria) seen at the Rheumatology Department between 1990 and 2020 was performed.     The results show that self-efficacy is pivotal in the willingness to introduce care robots. Employees' age increases the enthusiasm to introduce robots but reduces self-efficacy. Work engagement does not correlate with self-efficacy or behavioural intention related to the introduction of care robots.

Although the physiological basis for the increase is unknown, this time course matches the development of inflammation in CF airways. To learn whether inflammation alters CF ASL pH, we treated CF epithelia with TNF-α and IL-17 (TNF-α+IL-17), 2 inflammatory cytokines that are elevated in CF airways. TNF-α+IL-17 markedly increased ASL pH by upregulating pendrin, an apical Cl-/HCO3- exchanger. Moreover, when CF epithelia were exposed to TNF-α+IL-17, clinically approved CFTR modulators further alkalinized ASL pH. As predicted by these results, in vivo data revealed a positive correlation between airway inflammation and CFTR modulator-induced improvement in lung function. These findings suggest that inflammation is a key regulator of HCO3- secretion in CF airways. Thus, they explain earlier observations that ASL pH increases after birth and indicate that, for similar levels of inflammation, the pH of CF ASL is abnormally acidic. We uncovered a 0.2 Mb region that is commonly amplified across these cancers and includes CDK4 and 6 other genes that are overexpressed in amplicon-positive samples. Additionally, we identified a 0.5 Mb segment that is only recurrently amplified in FP RMS and includes 4 genes that are overexpressed in amplicon-positive RMS. We finally showed that the expression of the truncated ASIC2b in the kidney was dependent on the presence of albumin in the tubule lumen and activation of ERK in renal cells. Neutrophils and monocytes were isolated from healthy subjects and patients with sepsis by inertial microfluidics and resolvin D1 and resolvin D2 receptor expression determined by flow cytometry. The impact of these resolvins on leukocyte activation was determined by isodielectric separation and leukocyte function by stimulated phagolysosome formation. Leukocyte proresolving receptor expression was significantly higher in sepsis. In nanomolar concentrations, resolvin D1 and resolvin D2 partially reversed sepsis-induced changes in leukocyte activation and function.

We uncovered a 0.2 Mb region that is commonly amplified across these cancers and includes CDK4 and 6 other genes that are overexpressed in amplicon-positive samples.     Cabazitaxel is known to be effective in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) showing resistance to docetaxel. The objective of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanism mediating cytotoxic activity of cabazitaxel in docetaxel-resistant human CRPC cells.

    Parental human CRPC cell line PC3 (PC3/P) was continuously exposed to increasing doses of docetaxel, and a cell line resistant to docetaxel, PC3/R, was developed. Phenotypic differences between these cell lines were investigated.

The protein expression in hippocampus among all groups was examined using iTRAQ-based global proteomic analysis. RESULTS Morris water maze tests revealed improvements of insomnia-induced cognitive deficit in both PP- and ES-treated rats, as compared to SD rats. However, proteomic analysis indicates that the pharmacological impact on gene expression of these two medicines is quite different pearl is more capable of correcting aberrant gene expression caused by SD than estazolam. Therefore, pearl is more suitable for treatment of insomnia. The objective of this study was to identify barriers and facilitators to the adoption of evidence-based diagnostic testing for PE. METHODS We conducted semistructured interviews with a purposeful sample of providers. An interview guide was developed using the implementation science frameworks, consolidated framework for implementation research, and theoretical domains framework. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed in an iterative process. Emergent themes were identified, discussed, and organized. RESULTS We interviewed 23 providers from four hospital systems, and participants were diverse with regard to years in practice and practice setting. The purpose of this study was to investigate preventive effect of daikenchuto (DKT) on onset of ileus in patients who received gynecological surgery for malignant tumors. METHODS A total of 904 patients who received gynecological surgery for malignant tumors by opening retroperitoneum along with retroperitoneal lymph node dissection during a period between 2004 and 2018 were included in this retrospective study. The retroperitoneum was not sutured in all patients. Comparisons were made for proportion of patients developing ileus (frequency of postoperative ileus onset), timing of ileus onset, and treatment types for ileus among following three groups a group treated with enema or laxatives to release gas if they did not pass the intestinal gas for 3 days postoperatively (Group A, n = 152); a group treated with adhesion-inhibitory absorptive barrier at the opening to the retroperitoneum (Group B, n = 188); and a group treated with adhesion-inhibitory absorptive barrier and oral intake of DKT 7.5 g per day (Group C, n = 564). RESULTS The frequency of ileus onset significantly decreased in both Groups B (4.8%) and C (3.5%) compared to Group A (16.4%). Furthermore, the frequency of ileus onset was significantly less in Group C compared to Group B. For the treatment types, frequency of ileus, which was successfully treated only with conservative therapy, was the same for Groups B and C. However, incidence of serious ileus that required surgery decreased by 45% in Group C (2/564) compared to Groups A (2/152) and B (3/188). Attempts to curb overtesting have had only modest success and no interventions have used implementation science frameworks. The objective of this study was to identify barriers and facilitators to the adoption of evidence-based diagnostic testing for PE. METHODS We conducted semistructured interviews with a purposeful sample of providers. An interview guide was developed using the implementation science frameworks, consolidated framework for implementation research, and theoretical domains framework. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed in an iterative process. Emergent themes were identified, discussed, and organized. RESULTS We interviewed 23 providers from four hospital systems, and participants were diverse with regard to years in practice and practice setting. Barriers were predominately at the provider leveMedicine.BACKGROUND Postoperative ileus is a major complication of abdominal surgical procedures. The purpose of this study was to investigate preventive effect of daikenchuto (DKT) on onset of ileus in patients who received gynecological surgery for malignant tumors. METHODS A total of 904 patients who received gynecological surgery for malignant tumors by opening retroperitoneum along with retroperitoneal lymph node dissection during a period between 2004 and 2018 were included in this retrospective study. The retroperitoneum was not sutured in all patients. Comparisons were made for proportion of patients developing ileus (frequency of postoperative ileus onset), timing of ileus onset, and treatment types for ileus among following three groups a group treated with enema or laxatives to release gas if they did not pass the intestinal gas for 3 days postoperatively (Group A, n = 152); a group treated with adhesion-inhibitory absorptive barrier at the opening to the retroperitoneum (Group B, n = 188); and a group treated with adhesion-inhibitory absorptive barrier and oral intake of DKT 7.5 g per day (Group C, n = 564). RESULTS The frequency of ileus onset significantly decreased in both Groups B (4.8%) and C (3.5%) compared to Group A (16.4%). Furthermore, the frequency of ileus onset was significantly less in Group C compared to Group B. For the treatment types, frequency of ileus, which was successfully treated only with conservative therapy, was the same for Groups B and C. However, incidence of serious ileus that required surgery decreased by 45% in Group C (2/564) compared to Groups A (2/152) and B (3/188). CONCLUSIONS Results suggest that DKT prevents development of serious ileus after gynecological surgery for malignant tumors and therefore contributes to improvement in patients' QOL. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.IMPORTANCE In elderly people, visual impairment is associated with depressive symptoms and cognitive decline. PARTICIPANTS Patients with age-related cataract who underwent cataract surgery. METHODS A literature search was performed on Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Data were extracted from selected studies by two independent reviewers. The pooled standardized mean difference (SDM) was estimated using a random-effects model. Heterogeneity was evaluated using the Q and I2 tests. Multiple sensitivity analyses and assessment of publication bias were performed. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Report of a measure of depression or cognitive impairment before and after surgery.
