  • Two meat-type broiler strains, strain A and strain B, were reared in floor pens (25 birds/pen; 45 pens/strain) for pectoralis (P) major collagen and mixed muscle protein turnover (PT) study from 0-56 D using primary breeder nutrition and husbandry guidelines. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary total flavonoids from Rhizoma Drynariae (TFRD), a Chinese herbal, on bone health, egg quality, and serum antioxidant capacity of caged laying hens. A total of two hundred sixteen, 54-wk-old Lohmann Pink-shell laying hens at were allocated to 3 groups with 6 replicates of 12 hens per replicate. In experiment 1, the effect of CT was evaluated using a wheat-based diet at 3 CT unconditioned, conditioned at 60°C or 90°C. All the diets by-passed the pellet press and collected in mash form. Birds fed the diet conditioned at 90°C consumed more (P less then 0.05) feed and tended (P = 0.087) to have higher feed per gain (FG) than those fed the unconditioned diet but similar to those fed the diet conditioned at 60°C. After 23 D of feeding, broilers were killed and digesta samples of ileum and excreta analyzed for nutrient digestibility and DM. Cecal contents were analyzed for microbial composition and metabolites. Broiler performance was not affected by feeding dietary lignocellulose. LC3 fed broilers showed reduced ileal digestibility of protein compared to chickens fed LC1 (P = 0.003).   • Background Vascular rings (VR) may cause severe tracheomalacia and upper airway obstruction (UAO). Increased pulmonary artery pressure and cardiac dysfunction have been described in patients with chronic UAO, but has not been investigated in infants with obstruction associated with VR. The aim of this study is to evaluate myocardial strain in infants with UAO due to VR.Method Demographic characteristics, respiratory symptoms, percentage of tracheal obstruction measured and classified using Computer Tomography, and lung function testing (LFT) were collected. Left (LV) and right ventricle (RV) systolic functions were measured using speckle tracking echocardiography longitudinal strain analysis (LS). Pulmonary artery pressure was evaluated using maximal tricuspid regurgitation jet velocity (TR) and LV end-systolic eccentricity index (EI).Results Fifteen cases were included in the study, six had mild tracheal obstruction ( less then 50%), nine moderate-severe obstruction (≥50%). LV LS and RV LS were significantly reduced in cases with moderate to severe airway obstruction cases compared to those with mild airway obstruction (LV LS -15.9 versus -19.9%; RV LS -15.7 versus -20.5%, p = .04 and p = .02, respectively). Respiratory symptoms were more pronounced in moderate-severe cases. No significant differences in TR, EI, and LFT were observed.Conclusions In cases of VR with severe tracheomalacia RV and LV myocardial strain is reduced, suggesting secondary cardiac dysfunction.We evaluated the relationship between grief preparedness and grief experience in 106 family caregivers anticipating or who had experienced the death of a family member with dementia. Using a phenomenological lens to discern a process of meaning-making in narratives, we found preparation that included positive construction of memories, death as the end of suffering, relationship resolution, and shared construction of meaning were associated with positive grief. Those caregivers who experienced the family member's decline as traumatic, caregiver role loss, unavailable support, and difficulties creating a new life reported inadequate death preparation, and difficulty making meaning of the illness and death.OBJECTIVE Advanced laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma remains associated with approximately 50% mortality at 5 years. Delivery of multimodality treatment remains critical to maximizing survival for this disease, but achieving this at a national level remains a difficult undertaking, particularly in under- and uninsured patients as well as minority patients. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Patients (N = 210) with a new diagnosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma treated between 2005 and 2015 were included in a retrospective analysis of patient demographics, tumor and treatment characteristics, and oncologic outcomes. RESULTS The majority of patients presented with advanced disease (T4 = 43%, N>0 = 45%). Treatment selection was compliant with National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines in 81% of cases, but 76% of patients who required adjuvant radiotherapy were unable to start it within 6 weeks postsurgery. Overall survival and disease-free survival were 52% and 63% for the entire cohort, respectively. Supraglottic subsite and nodal metastases were significantly associated with decreased overall survival and disease-free survival. Race/ethnicity and insurance status were not associated with worse oncologic outcomes. CONCLUSION Under- and uninsured patients often present with advanced laryngeal cancer. Oncologic outcomes in this cohort of patients is similar to that of other published series. Phase 3 programs should add the potential body of evidence to prove their benefit for the management of UC patients.Background Cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive component of cannabis is marketed as a potential treatment for many conditions and widely available to purchase as a dietary supplement. In 2017, sales of CBD exceeded 820 million dollars despite many unconfirmed health claims, murky legality, and limited product efficacy and safety testing.Purpose/Objectives This study aims to explore cannabidiol (CBD) knowledge, attitudes, and use among young adults.Methods The anonymous 36-item survey developed using Qualtrics was distributed via social media from November 2018 to January 2019 with 340 respondents.Results Of the 340 respondents, 242 reported they had heard of CBD, and 135 reported using CBD products. CBD users were primarily white, female, without children, made less than $25,000 per year, and unmarried. Most commonly used CBD products were edibles (56.30%), tinctures (54.07%), and vape (38.52%). Top reasons for use included stress relief (65.39%), relaxation (54.81%), and sleep improvement (42.22%). Many respondents reported using guesswork to determine dosage, and over half of respondents reported at least one unanticipated side effect.

  • Given the pitfalls of previous studies, we need to return to our practices before this research influx began, when practitioners relied on traditional training principles (eg, overload progression) and adjusted training loads based on athletes' responses. Training-load measures cannot tell us whether the variations are increasing or decreasing the injury risk; we recommend that practitioners still rely on their expert knowledge and experience.Despite aggression being detrimental to children's physical health, mental health and social development, the dispositional and neurological antecedents of aggression in the child are poorly understood. Here we examined the relationship between trait aggression as measured by Buss and Warren's Aggression Questionnaire and personality traits measured with Big Five Questionnaire for Children in 77 primary-school children and recorded resting-state brain activity (fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations [fALFF]) and resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) using functional magnetic resonance imaging. The present results showed that trait aggression was negatively correlated with agreeableness and positively correlated with neuroticism. The brain analyses showed that children with a higher propensity for aggression had a lower fALFF mainly in the left superior temporal gyrus, right parahippocampal gyrus and left supramarginal gyrus. Physical and total aggressions were negatively associated with rsFC between the right parahippocampal gyrus and the right putamen. Further analysis revealed that this rsFC could moderate the influence of neuroticism on total aggression. Moreover, the results suggest the presence of a sex difference in the neurodevelopmental mechanisms underlying aggression in middle childhood. Compared to the approach requiring confirmation data, our adapted approach showed only modestly diminished ability to detect interfering medications. Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor (LDLR) play a critical role in regulating blood cholesterol levels by binding to and clearing LDLs from the circulation. The disruption of the interaction between Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin 9 (PCSK9) and LDLR reduces blood cholesterol levels. It is not well known whether other members of the LDLR superfamily may be targets of PCSK9. The aim of this work was to determine if LDLR-related protein 5 (LRP5) is a PCSK9 target, and to study the role of PCSK9 and LRP5 in foam cell formation and lipid accumulation.

    Primary cultures of human inflammatory cells (monocytes and macrophages) were silenced for LRP5 or PCSK9 and challenged with LDLs. We first show that LRP5 is needed for macrophage lipid uptake since LRP5-silenced macrophages show less intracellular CE accumulation. In macrophages, internalization of LRP5-bound LDL is already highly evident after 5 hours of LDL incubation and lasts up to 24hours; however in the absence of both LRP5 and PCSK9 there is a strong reduction of CE accumulation indicating a role for both proteins in lipid uptake.
    Given the pitfalls of previous studies, we need to return to our practices before this research influx began, when practitioners relied on traditional training principles (eg, overload progression) and adjusted training loads based on athletes' responses. Training-load measures cannot tell us whether the variations are increasing or decreasing the injury risk; we recommend that practitioners still rely on their expert knowledge and experience.Despite aggression being detrimental to children's physical health, mental health and social development, the dispositional and neurological antecedents of aggression in the child are poorly understood. Here we examined the relationship between trait aggression as measured by Buss and Warren's Aggression Questionnaire and personality traits measured with Big Five Questionnaire for Children in 77 primary-school children and recorded resting-state brain activity (fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations [fALFF]) and resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) using functional magnetic resonance imaging. The present results showed that trait aggression was negatively correlated with agreeableness and positively correlated with neuroticism. The brain analyses showed that children with a higher propensity for aggression had a lower fALFF mainly in the left superior temporal gyrus, right parahippocampal gyrus and left supramarginal gyrus. Physical and total aggressions were negatively associated with rsFC between the right parahippocampal gyrus and the right putamen. Further analysis revealed that this rsFC could moderate the influence of neuroticism on total aggression. Moreover, the results suggest the presence of a sex difference in the neurodevelopmental mechanisms underlying aggression in middle childhood. Here we present the development of one such alternate a platform for semi-automated, voluntary in-home cage behavioral training that allows for the study of naturalistic behaviors. We describe the design and production of a modular behavioral training apparatus using *** software and digital fabrication. We demonstrate that this apparatus permits voluntary behavioral training and data collection throughout the marmoset's waking hours with little experimenter intervention. Changes in plasma [NO3-] and nitrite [NO2-], core and mean skin temperatures, mean local and whole-body sweat rates, heart rate, perceptual ratings and pulmonary gas exchange were measured during exercise, alongside calorimetric estimations of thermal balance. Mean arterial pressures (MAP) were recorded pre-Tlim. There were no differences in Tlim between conditions (BR = 22.8 ± 8.1 min; Placebo = 20.7 ± 7.9 min) (P = 0.184), despite increases in plasma [NO3-] and [NO2-] (P  0.05). Dietary NO3- supplementation had no effect on exercise tolerance or thermoregulation in hot, dry conditions, despite reductions in resting MAP and increases in plasma [NO3-] and [NO2-]. Diagnosis was straightforward for the patients with the posterior and anterior epidural disc fragments, whereas various differential diagnostic considerations were entertained for the patient with the intradural mass lesion. All patients underwent surgical removal of the sequestered disc fragments, and recovered full motosensory function. Surgical repair of the dura mater due to CSF leak was required for the patient with intradural disc herniation.Conclusion/clinical relevance Posterior and anterior epidural, and intradural disc migration may manifest with clinical symptoms indistinguishable from those associated with non-sequestered lumbar disc hernias.

  • Across all contemporaneous networks, negative trauma-related cognitions and emotions were most commonly the most central symptoms. Further, across all temporal networks, (a) negative trauma-related emotions were the most common driver of variation in other symptoms over time and (b) distressing trauma-related dreams and sleep disturbance were the most common downstream consequences of variation in other PTSD symptoms over time. The aim herein is to describe the principle of piezoelectricity in biological materials from the very basic building blocks (i.e., amino acids, peptides, proteins, etc.) to highly organized tissues (i.e., bones, skin, etc.). There are currently no widely accepted standard symbols to simultaneously represent both gender identity and assigned sex at birth within a pedigree. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/sp2509.html Previous studies assessing perspectives from members of the transgender and gender non-binary (TGNB) community have highlighted the need for a unique symbol to represent non-binary individuals and better ways to represent core gender identities for gender minorities such as transgender individuals. In our experience we have encountered similar dilemmas with documentation for individuals with DSDs in terms of a lack of unequivocal symbolic representation within the pedigree. Here we propose three distinct symbols for gender identity combined with superscript symbols to represent sex assigned at birth, which we think may unequivocally represent TGNB individuals and patients with DSDs. It is clear that further research is needed to ensure that any proposed changes are acceptable by and respectful of all patients regardless of their gender identity and assigned sex at birth. The developed method was validated and was subsequently applied to 57 batches of commercial products which sampling on National Drug Assessment Program. High resolution mass spectrometry analysis was performed on characteristic peaks of fingerprints, and a series of amino acids, nucleosides, and deoxynucleosides were identified. In the fingerprint assessments, Principal Component Analysis and Hotelling T2 analysis yielded the best results. The results generally indicated that there was a significant difference among products of batch-to-batch or from different manufacturers.

In our experience we have encountered similar dilemmas with documentation for individuals with DSDs in terms of a lack of unequivocal symbolic representation within the pedigree. Here we propose three distinct symbols for gender identity combined with superscript symbols to represent sex assigned at birth, which we think may unequivocally represent TGNB individuals and patients with DSDs. It is clear that further research is needed to ensure that any proposed changes are acceptable by and respectful of all patients regardless of their gender identity and assigned sex at birth. Sequence alignment and Western blot analyses showed that the epitope is greatly conserved with high DTMUV-specificity. Moreover, upon cloning the heavy and light chain variable region sequences of mAb 3B8, we prepared the single-chain variable antibody fragment (scFv) 3B8 by connecting the two chains via a flexible peptide linker. The recombinant scFv 3B8 exhibited antiviral activity against DTMUV infection in vitro and in vivo. Our results provide valuable implications for the development of DTMUV vaccines and therapeutics.
    Borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) although rare, have shown an increase in the incidence worldwide. Although the survival rate is high, the recurrence rate is estimated to be between 5% and 34%. The objective of this study was to identify risk factors for recurrence of BOTs.

    This retrospective multicenter study included 493 patients treated surgically for BOT between January 2001 and December 2018.

    Thirty-seven patients showed recurrence (group R, 7.5%), while 456 did not (group NR, 92.5%). With an average follow-up of 30.5 months (1-276), the overall recurrence rate was 7.5%. Recurrence rates for the BOT and invasive types were 5.7% (n = 28) and 1.4% (n = 7), respectively. The mean time to recurrence was 44.1 (3-251) months. Univariate analysis showed that age at diagnosis, type of surgical procedure, histological type, and FIGO stage were factors influencing recurrence. Multivariate analysis showed that the risk factors for recurrence of BOT were conservative treatment (OR = 7 [95% CI 3.01-16.23]; p &lerall patient management.

Pulmonary impairment is the most characteristic comorbidity of CF and respiratory failure is the main cause of death. It also mentions new therapeutic approaches that include CFTR modulators. They are correctors and/or potentiators of the deficient CFTR channel. Rigorous research and improved education of providers about weight loss medications may address the huge treatment gap in severe pediatric obesity.The aim of this study was to determine the role of chewing gum in bowel functions after left colon and/or rectal surgery. In this randomized controlled study, the sample consisted of adult patients who had undergone elective open left colon and/or rectal surgical interventions under general anesthesia. The sample comprised 17 patients in the experimental group and control group. The patients in the experimental group chewed a sugar-free gum after removal of their nasogastric tubes, 3 times a day for 45 minutes, from the first postoperative morning until they had first flatus. Routine care was maintained for the patients in the control group until their first flatus. The effects of chewing gum on the length of time until first flatus, the first defecation in the postoperative period, and the discharge of patients were investigated. The patients in the experimental group had flatus and defecation earlier, and the duration of their hospital stay was shorter than those of patients in the control group. It was found that gum chewing as a physiological method promotes the early initiation of bowel functions and, consequently, shortens the hospital stay after elective left colon and/or rectal surgery.
    These data confirm the effectiveness of office-based vergence/accommodative therapy for improving the near point of convergence and positive fusional vergence in young adults with symptomatic convergence insufficiency within a double-masked longitudinal randomized clinical trial.

    This study aimed to report changes in clinical signs and symptoms of convergence insufficiency from a randomized clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of office-based vergence/accommodative therapy for young adults with symptomatic convergence insufficiency.

    In this double-masked, randomized clinical trial, convergence insufficiency patients (n = 50; average age, 21 ± 3 years; range, 18 to 32 years) were randomized to either office-based vergence/accommodative therapy or office-based placebo therapy. Improvements in (1) near point of convergence, (2) positive fusional vergence, and (3) self-reported symptoms (Convergence Insufficiency Symptom Survey [CISS] score) were evaluated after twelve 1-hour sessions of treatment wiported symptoms, we recommend that the CISS be revised if it is to be used as an outcome measure in future studies of convergence insufficiency.

    This study compares the standardized assessment test scores of prelicensure nursing students who completed their pediatric clinical practicum in person for both the clinical and simulation practice settings versus virtually.

    This study included 186 students in a pediatric clinical course. Half the students completed in-person pediatric clinical practice and simulation, and half the students used i-Human to complete their pediatric clinical practicum virtually. Scores on the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Nursing Care of Children examination were compared using independent-samples t tests.

    There were no significant differences in ATI scores between students who completed their pediatric clinical practicum in the clinical setting compared with virtually (P = .485; 95% confidence interval, -2.24 to 4.71).

    Clinical education is an integral component of nursing education and relies heavily on clinical nursing faculty (CNF). However, there are not enough nurses seeking CNF positions to meet the current demand of the nursing workforce.

    The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence and impact of workplace bullying directed toward CNF.

    For this exploratory cross-sectional study, a web-based survey was distributed to CNF working in New England states.

    A total of 76 participant responses were analyzed. Eighteen percent of the participants met the criteria for being either occasionally or frequently bullied. Nursing staff in the clinical agencies and colleagues and administrators in the nursing program where CNF teach were identified as the most frequent perpetrators.

In this randomized controlled study, the sample consisted of adult patients who had undergone elective open left colon and/or rectal surgical interventions under general anesthesia. The sample comprised 17 patients in the experimental group and control group. The patients in the experimental group chewed a sugar-free gum after removal of their nasogastric tubes, 3 times a day for 45 minutes, from the first postoperative morning until they had first flatus. Routine care was maintained for the patients in the control group until their first flatus. The effects of chewing gum on the length of time until first flatus, the first defecation in the postoperative period, and the discharge of patients were investigated. The patients in the experimental group had flatus and defecation earlier, and the duration of their hospital stay was shorter than those of patients in the control group. It was found that gum chewing as a physiological method promotes the early initiation of bowel functions and, consequently, shortens the hospital stay after elective left colon and/or rectal surgery. These data confirm the effectiveness of office-based vergence/accommodative therapy for improving the near point of convergence and positive fusional vergence in young adults with symptomatic convergence insufficiency within a double-masked longitudinal randomized clinical trial. This study aimed to report changes in clinical signs and symptoms of convergence insufficiency from a randomized clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of office-based vergence/accommodative therapy for young adults with symptomatic convergence insufficiency. This study compares the standardized assessment test scores of prelicensure nursing students who completed their pediatric clinical practicum in person for both the clinical and simulation practice settings versus virtually. This study included 186 students in a pediatric clinical course. Half the students completed in-person pediatric clinical practice and simulation, and half the students used i-Human to complete their pediatric clinical practicum virtually. Scores on the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Nursing Care of Children examination were compared using independent-samples t tests. There were no significant differences in ATI scores between students who completed their pediatric clinical practicum in the clinical setting compared with virtually (P = .485; 95% confidence interval, -2.24 to 4.71). The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence and impact of workplace bullying directed toward CNF. For this exploratory cross-sectional study, a web-based survey was distributed to CNF working in New England states. A total of 76 participant responses were analyzed. Eighteen percent of the participants met the criteria for being either occasionally or frequently bullied. Nursing staff in the clinical agencies and colleagues and administrators in the nursing program where CNF teach were identified as the most frequent perpetrators.   • Compartmentalization in membrane-surrounded organelles has the potential to overcome obstacles associated with the engineering of metabolic pathways, such as unwanted side reactions, accumulation of toxic intermediates, drain of intermediates out of the cell, and long diffusion distances. Strategies utilizing natural organelles suffer from the presence of endogenous pathways. In our approach, we make use of endoplasmic reticulum-derived vesicles loaded with enzymes of a metabolic pathway ("metabolic vesicles"). They are generated by fusion of synthetic peptides containing the N-terminal proline-rich and self-assembling region of the maize storage protein gamma-Zein ("Zera") to the pathway enzymes. We have applied a strategy to integrate three enzymes of a cis,cis-muconic acid production pathway into those vesicles in yeast. Using fluorescence microscopy and cell fractionation techniques, we have proven the formation of metabolic vesicles and the incorporation of enzymes. Activities of the enzymes and functionality of the compartmentalized pathway were demonstrated in fermentation experiments.Directed self-assembly (DSA) of block copolymers (BCPs) provides a powerful tool to fabricate various 2D nanostructures. However, it still remains a challenge to extend DSA to make uniform and complex 3D nanostructures through BCP self-assembly. In this paper, we introduce a method to fabricate various nanostructures in 3D and test it using simulations. In particular, we employ dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulation to demonstrate that uniform multilayer nanostructures can be achieved by alternating the stacking of two "orthogonal" BCPs films, AB copolymer film and AC copolymer film, without the need to cross-link or etch any of the components. The assembly of a new layer occurs on top of the previous bottom layer, and thus the structural information from the substrate is propagated upward in the film, a process we refer to as self-directed self-assembly (SDSA). If this process is repeated many times, one can have tailored multilayer nanostructures. Furthermore, the natural (bulk) phases of the block copolymers in each layer do not need to be the same, so one can achieve complex 3D assemblies that are not possible with a single-phase 3D system. This method in conjunction with grapho (or chemo) epitaxy is able to evolve a surface pattern into a 3D nanostructure. Here we show several examples of nanostructures fabricated by this process, which include aligned cylinders, spheres on top of cylinders, and orthogonal nanomeshes. Our work should be useful for creating complex 3D nanostructures using self-assembly.Here, we report on systematic investigation of the impact of coextraction of the aqueous electrolyte and anion interference on the response of cation-selective bulk optodes. It is evident that to deliberately manage the properties of chemical sensors and to apply them in routine analysis, one should have exhaustive insight into their operation mechanism. Despite the extensive research in the field of ionophore-based optodes and numerous attempts for their practical application, the understanding of how coextraction of an aqueous electrolyte influences its response characteristics has not been developed thus far. Meanwhile, the electrolyte coextraction determines the detection limits of analogous ion-selective electrodes. A theoretical model based on phase distribution equilibrium is proposed to quantitatively describe the effect of Donnan exclusion failure on the response of polymeric plasticized optodes. The theoretical conclusions are confirmed by the results obtained with Na+/pH-selective optodes based on a neutral chromoionophore as a model system in solutions containing anions of various lipophilicities (Cl-, NO3-, I-, SCN-, and ClO4-). For the first time, it is shown that coextraction leads to a significant shift of the response range of the optodes as well as to nonmonotonic response curves due to the transition from cationic to anionic response. An approach to estimate the coextraction constants of electrolytes from the optode response curves is proposed. The limitations in the applicability of optodes due to co-ion interference are explored. The incubation of biofilms with fluorescent glycan targeted polymers demonstrated strong and persistent interactions with the mannose-containing polymer even after 24 h of continuous flow. To evaluate the role of major biofilm proteins LecB and CdrA, loss of function experiments with knockout variants established the dual involvement of both proteins in mannose targeted polymer retention.

  • We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of dronedarone versus sotalol in real-world practice in Asian patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Using the Korean nationwide claims database from August 2013 to December 2016, we identified patients with AF recently prescribed dronedarone or sotalol and analyzed the hospitalization risk and all-cause death until December 2017. Overall, 3119 and 1575 patients treated with dronedarone and sotalol, respectively, were included. After propensity score weighting, no significant differences were observed between the treatment groups. Dronedarone use was associated with a lower risk of all-cause hospitalization than sotalol use (hazard ratio [HR], 0.79; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.70-0.88). The dronedarone group demonstrated a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular (CV) hospitalization than the sotalol group (HR 0.62, 95% CI 0.53-0.72); however, no significant difference was observed in non-CV hospitalization. No difference in the risk of all-cause death was observed between groups. The dronedarone group was significantly less likely to receive nonpharmacological treatment for AF than the sotalol group (HR 0.63, 95% CI 0.51-0.77). The study investigates some common oil physico-chemical parameters such are density, viscosity, refractive index, acid index, peroxide value, saponification index, to detect differences between cold pressed oils versus refined ones, for some food-grade oils found on Romanian market, as well as FT-IR spectroscopy and GC-MS analytical method, obtaining similar results to those presented in the literature data. The difference between some of the obtained results is not relevant for telling the cold-pressed oils from their refined version for adulteration investigation purpose. Colour analysis instead is a very good method to differentiate a cold pressed oil from a refined one. Taking this into account, the cold pressed oils and their refined versions were mixed in different proportions, and their colour properties were analyzed, obtaining linear dependences for a* and b* CIE L*a*b* parameters with cold pressed oil content in the mixture. No differences were found between EGFR positive and negative patients. PD-L1 expression was an independent prognostic factor for both PFS and OS times (PFS HR, 0.175; P  = 0.001; OS HR, 0.107; P  = 0.036). Bivariate correlation showed a significant positive correlation between PD-L1 expression and PFS (correlation coefficient R = 0.485, P  less then 0.001). High PD-L1 expression could be a potential effective predictor for favorable survival of advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients undergoing pemetrexed maintenance therapy.The aim of this study is the rapid detection of food pressed oils adulteration with their refined versions, using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The study investigates some common oil physico-chemical parameters such are density, viscosity, refractive index, acid index, peroxide value, saponification index, to detect differences between cold pressed oils versus refined ones, for some food-grade oils found on Romanian market, as well as FT-IR spectroscopy and GC-MS analytical method, obtaining similar results to those presented in the literature data. The difference between some of the obtained results is not relevant for telling the cold-pressed oils from their refined version for adulteration investigation purpose. Colour analysis instead is a very good method to differentiate a cold pressed oil from a refined one. Taking this into account, the cold pressed oils and their refined versions were mixed in different proportions, and their colour properties were analyzed, obtaining linear dependences for a* and b* CIE L*a*b* parameters with cold pressed oil content in the mixture. Dependence equations were proposed.Obesity is common comorbidity in patients with schizophrenia. Previous studies have reported that homocysteine (Hcy) is increased in schizophrenia. However, no study has reported the association between BMI and Hcy levels in schizophrenia. This cross-sectional naturalistic study aimed to evaluate the relationship between BMI, Hcy and clinical symptoms in Chinese Han patients with chronic schizophrenia. Clinical and anthropometric data as well as plasma Hcy level and glycolipid parameters were collected. Psychopathology was measured with the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Our results showed that compared with the low BMI group, the high BMI group had a higher PANSS general psychopathology subscore, higher levels of blood glucose, total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (all p  less then  0.05).
