To determine the empirical usage of antibiotics and analyze the pathogen spectrum during the perioperative period of flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy (FURSL) with a focus on levofloxacin.
This retrospective analysis included 754 patients who underwent FURSL successfully in our hospital from January 2015 to July 2019. All patients were indicated urine cultures and prescribed antibiotics during the perioperative period. Patients with negative preoperative urine cultures were divided into levofloxacin (LVXG) and non-levofloxacin groups (NLVXG) based on the empirical use of antibiotics. Operative time, the length of postoperative hospital stays and total hospital stays, total hospitalization costs, postoperative fever rate and removal rate of stones were compared. Patients with positive urine cultures were analyzed for pathogen distribution and antibiotic resistance.
In the empirical use of antibiotics among 541 cases with negative urine cultures, the prescription rate of levofloxacin was 68.95%. Compared to that in NLVXG, LVXG had a lower cost of antibiotics but higher postoperative fever rate and longer hospital stay. There were no significant differences in operative time, the total hospitalization costs and the removal rate of stones between the two groups. The top two common pathogens were Escherichia coli (36.11%) and Enterococcus faecalis (24.07%), with resistance rates of 74.36% and 71.15% to levofloxacin, respectively.

Among the more serious problems in urological interventions among the pediatric age group is the requirement of general anesthesia. The advantages of removing a double-J stent (DJS) without anesthesia in ureteroneocystostomy (UNC) operations among children were investigated in this study.
In all, 25 patients who underwent UNC surgery between November 2016 and November 2018 were retrospectively divided into two groups according to the method used for the removal of the DJS. In Group 1, the stent was tied to the urethral catheter by a suture and retrieved postoperatively on the fourth day without anesthesia and cystoscopy. In Group 2, we inserted the stent according to the classical method with no suturing to the catheter and removed it 3 to 4 weeks after the first operation, with cystoscopy under anesthesia.
A total of 16 girls and 9 boys were included in the study. The mean age was 4.3 and 6.3 years in groups 1 and 2, respectively. We did not observe statistically significant difference between the groups in long-term renal function or hydronephrosis regression.
We consider that the removal of a stent placed in pediatric intravesical UNC operations without anesthesia and cystoscopy is less invasive and affords safety and long-term results comparable to the standard method.

The related research of green-light laser vaporization in the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is limited. This study focused on analyzing the effectiveness and safety of it from the perspective of an extensive literature review.
A comprehensive search of CNKI, WanFang, VIP, PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL databases for photoselective vaporization of bladder tumor and transurethral resection of bladder tumor treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The search included studies from January 1996 to December 2019. Two reviewers independently screened literature, extracted data, assessed the risk of bias of included studies. RevMan 5.3 software was used for Meta-analysis.
A total of 18 RCTs involving 1648 patients met the predefined criteria. Meta-analysis data demonstrated that the PVBT group exhibited a significant advantage over the TURBT group in intraoperative obturator nerve reflex (RR = 0.09, 95% CI [0.04, 0.18], P< 0.001)and bladder perforation (RR = 0.14, 95% C systematic review and meta-analysis suggests that PVBT is better than TURBT as an alternative treatment for patients with NMIBC in safe aspect. However, whether it is equally effective in terms of oncological control remains to be elucidated, and additional high quality RCTs are needed to confirm our findings.Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY) has a prevalence of approximately 1 in 500 males. It is a condition characterized by an extra X chromosome and is an underdiagnosed clinical entity. Inactivation of genes enables their escape from regulatory mechanisms, which can result in such classic physical manifestations as hypogonadism, gynecomastia, infertility, and various hormonal and physical abnormalities. While the endocrine manifestations of 47,XXY are well-known, the oncologic manifestations have received less attention. The [14C]L-citrulline uptake was significantly reduced in MT cells as compared with that of control. The Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) for MT cells was 0.67 ± 0.05 mM, whereas it was 1.48 ± 0.21 mM for control. On the other hand, the Vmax values for MT and control were 10.9 ± 0.8 nmol/mg protein/min and 18.3 ± 2.9 nmol/mg protein/min, respectively. The Km and Vmax values showed the high affinity and low capacity for MT as compared with control. Moreover, the uptake of [14C]L-citrulline was significantly inhibited by 2-aminobicyclo-(2,2,1)-heptane-2-carboxylic acid (BCH) and harmaline which is the inhibitor of the large neutral amino acid transporter1 (LAT1) in NSC-34 cell lines.

To facilitate such applications and in particular to enable extending the simulations to mixed radiation field conditions, we present analytical formulas that capture PARTRAC simulation results on DNA single- and double-strand breaks and their clusters induced in cells irradiated by ions ranging from hydrogen to neon at energies from 0.5 GeV/u down to their stopping. These functions offer a means by which radiation transport codes at the macroscopic scale could easily be extended to predict biological effects, exploiting a large database of results from micro-/nanoscale simulations, without having to deal with the coupling of spatial scales and running full track-structure calculations.The propagation of electromagnetic waves through a disordered layered system is considered in the paradigm of the homogenization of Maxwell's equations. The average differences between SA measured and SA predicted by P-TW3 was 0.0504 (± 0.664) in boys and 0.0144 (± 0.435) in girls (P = 0.229 and 0.667, respectively). When P-TW3 was replaced for P-KR value in the equation, the average differences were - 0.0532 in boys and 0.0850 in girls (P = 0.509 and 0.167 respectively). Treatment with neoadjuvant and induction chemotherapy (NAIC) was only utilized in 9% of patients, and often in patients with poor disease status, resulting in a lower mOS compared to literature (35 and 20 months, respectively). Patients treated with chemotherapy had many adversities to treatment, with only 50%, 13%, 18% and 7% of patients in NAIC, first-line, salvage after RC, and second-line setting completing the full pre-planned chemotherapy treatment. Real-world data shows NAIC before RC is underutilized. Adversities during chemotherapy treatment are frequent, with many patients requiring dose reduction or early treatment termination, resulting in poor treatment response.

The fluoride-ion-catalyzed synthesis of benzobisbenzofuran derivatives is described. Brain metastases are becoming increasingly more prevalent as cancer patients survive longer with both improved local and systemic therapy. Little is known, however, of the natural growth rates of brain metastases. This investigation aims to ascertain this growth rate of these lesions before the initiation of any CNS- directed therapy.
A total of 700 patients were screened, identifying 18 cancer patients (13 breast and 5 lung) with 29 brain metastases that were serially imaged from 2011 to 2017 before treatment for their intracranial metastases. Growth rates were measured by contouring lesions serially across at least two MRI studies in iPlan software by independent raters. These values were then compared between primary (breast and lung) cancer cohorts.
The mean age at diagnosis was 53 and 95% were female. The interval between primary cancer diagnosis and brain metastases was 4.6 years and 1.2 years in the breast and lung cancer groups, respectively. Of the breast and lung cancer patients, 23% and 40% were deceased, with respective 5.08 cm
and 2.44 cm
initial tumor volumes. The average growth rate of lung and breast tumors was 0.018 and 0.040 cm

Herein, we report a case of a 5-year-old boy whose refractory intracranial hypertension and severe, progressive visual loss (secondary to a chronic, otogenic, right sigmoid sinus thrombosis, and a contralateral sinus tight stenosis) were resolved by a combination of continuous (6 h), locoregional, infusion of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA), and mechanical thrombectomy.
The association of in loco and continuous infusion of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt- PA) with mechanical thrombectomy resulted in effective in partially reopening the occluded sinus and facilitating a good clinical recovery. This combined endovascular approach may represent an alternative, less invasive, therapeutic option to surgery in children with intracranial hypertension caused by chronic cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.

Laparoscopic fundoplication has been proven to be highly effective in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), but it cannot be performed optimally for GERD that develops after gastrectomy. We report the case of a 72-year-old man with a history of distal gastrectomy and Billroth I anastomosis due to early gastric cancer. GERD due to bile reflux occurred after surgery and was refractory to medical therapy. The patient underwent Roux-en-Y conversion from Billroth I gastroduodenostomy and hiatal hernia repair with only cruroplasty. Fundoplication was not performed. His symptoms improved significantly after the surgery. Therefore, laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair and Roux-en-Y conversion can be an effective surgical procedure to treat medically refractory DGER after Billroth I gastrectomy.
The standard treatment for stage IB gastric cancer is curative surgery alone, but some patients show poor survival with disease recurrence after curative surgery. The aim of this study was to identify prognostic factors of recurrence and long-term survival in patients with stage IB gastric cancer after surgery.
We retrospectively reviewed data from 253 patients with stage IB gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy between 2011 and 2016 at Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital and analyzed the clinicopathological characteristics associated with recurrence and survival.

Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the gallbladder or gallbladder carcinosarcoma is an exceedingly rare malignancy. Unfortunately, patients typically present with advanced disease at diagnosis. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, jaundice, anorexia, nausea, weight loss, and a palpable abdominal mass. This malignant tumor has a poor prognosis, and treatment options include surgical resection, radiation, and chemotherapy. We detail the case of a 57-year-old male who presented with diffuse abdominal pain and jaundice. Computed tomography scan of the abdomen and pelvis showed a large mass within the gallbladder, intrahepatic ductal dilation, gastrohepatic lymph node enlargement, and liver lesions concerning for metastatic disease. A core needle biopsy from one of the liver lesions revealed poorly differentiated sarcomatoid carcinoma of the gallbladder. He was assessed to have stage IV disease and deemed not to be a surgical candidate. Palliative chemotherapy was planned; however, treatment was never started due to the development of cholangitis with sepsis. We present a case of a patient with recalcitrant moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who required a higher maintenance dose frequency of 210 mg of brodalumab subcutaneously every week to achieve disease clearance. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient receiving a maintenance dose of 210 mg of brodalumab weekly. In patients with refractory plaque psoriasis only partially responsive to the recommended maintenance dose, an increase in frequency to every week may be worth consideration. Further research is required to elucidate the effectiveness and long-term safety of this regimen. © The Author(s) 2020.Primary pleural angiosarcoma is an exceptionally rare malignancy of pleura originating from the vascular endothelial cells. Here, we present a 70-year-old African-American female who presented with 1-month history of dyspnea on exertion, loss of appetite, and loss of weight along with left-sided pleuritic chest pain. Evaluation revealed hemorrhagic pleural effusion in the left pleural cavity. Computed tomography of the chest performed after therapeutic thoracocentesis revealed left upper lobe lung mass along with multiple nodules in right lung. Mass was biopsied at video-assisted thoracoscopy. Histopathology was consistent with high-grade angiosarcoma. Endothelial origin of the tumor cells was confirmed with positive immunohistochemical staining with CD31 antibodies. Our patient was diagnosed with primary pleural angiosarcoma metastatic to the lung. She opted for palliative care and had a rapidly declining clinical course and expired within 5 weeks of the diagnosis. Head, ears, lips, oral mucosa, and other body surfaces did not reveal similar lesions, and review of systems was negative. Shave biopsy was performed and histopathological findings demonstrated granulomatous inflammation in the dermis and parasitized histiocytes containing peripherally located amastigotes. Leishmaniasis was diagnosed and patient was educated on the disease while communication with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was initiated. In this case report, we describe a situation in which platypnea-orthodeoxia syndrome developed acutely before surgery but that became severely exacerbated after an open urologic surgery without a clear acute anatomical change that could be responsible for triggering the syndrome. Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the gallbladder or gallbladder carcinosarcoma is an exceedingly rare malignancy. Unfortunately, patients typically present with advanced disease at diagnosis. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, jaundice, anorexia, nausea, weight loss, and a palpable abdominal mass. This malignant tumor has a poor prognosis, and treatment options include surgical resection, radiation, and chemotherapy. We detail the case of a 57-year-old male who presented with diffuse abdominal pain and jaundice. Computed tomography scan of the abdomen and pelvis showed a large mass within the gallbladder, intrahepatic ductal dilation, gastrohepatic lymph node enlargement, and liver lesions concerning for metastatic disease. A core needle biopsy from one of the liver lesions revealed poorly differentiated sarcomatoid carcinoma of the gallbladder. He was assessed to have stage IV disease and deemed not to be a surgical candidate. Palliative chemotherapy was planned; however, treatment was never started due to the development of cholangitis with sepsis. We present a case of a patient with recalcitrant moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who required a higher maintenance dose frequency of 210 mg of brodalumab subcutaneously every week to achieve disease clearance. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient receiving a maintenance dose of 210 mg of brodalumab weekly. In patients with refractory plaque psoriasis only partially responsive to the recommended maintenance dose, an increase in frequency to every week may be worth consideration. Further research is required to elucidate the effectiveness and long-term safety of this regimen. © The Author(s) 2020.Primary pleural angiosarcoma is an exceptionally rare malignancy of pleura originating from the vascular endothelial cells. Here, we present a 70-year-old African-American female who presented with 1-month history of dyspnea on exertion, loss of appetite, and loss of weight along with left-sided pleuritic chest pain. Evaluation revealed hemorrhagic pleural effusion in the left pleural cavity. Computed tomography of the chest performed after therapeutic thoracocentesis revealed left upper lobe lung mass along with multiple nodules in right lung. Mass was biopsied at video-assisted thoracoscopy. Histopathology was consistent with high-grade angiosarcoma. Endothelial origin of the tumor cells was confirmed with positive immunohistochemical staining with CD31 antibodies. Our patient was diagnosed with primary pleural angiosarcoma metastatic to the lung. She opted for palliative care and had a rapidly declining clinical course and expired within 5 weeks of the diagnosis. Head, ears, lips, oral mucosa, and other body surfaces did not reveal similar lesions, and review of systems was negative. Shave biopsy was performed and histopathological findings demonstrated granulomatous inflammation in the dermis and parasitized histiocytes containing peripherally located amastigotes. Leishmaniasis was diagnosed and patient was educated on the disease while communication with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was initiated. In this case report, we describe a situation in which platypnea-orthodeoxia syndrome developed acutely before surgery but that became severely exacerbated after an open urologic surgery without a clear acute anatomical change that could be responsible for triggering the syndrome. Findings have been mixed regarding the relationship between comorbid depression and anxiety and treatment outcomes for anxious youth. The current study compared a sample of anxious youth with a comorbid depressive disorder (n = 20) and those without comorbid depression (n = 137). All participants received 16 weekly sessions of Coping Cat and completed measures assessing anxiety/depression severity, impairment, and functioning at pretreatment and posttreatment. Results indicated that anxiety-focused CBT is efficacious for anxious youth with and without comorbid depressive disorders, with a higher rate of symptom improvement for youth with comorbid depression during treatment. However, comorbid depression was associated with higher severity at baseline and after treatment. Thus, despite the higher rate of symptom improvement, anxious youth with comorbid depression may benefit from additional treatment to address remaining symptoms.This study aimed to compare the efficiency of two different sizes of the Surber sampler to assess benthic macroinvertebrates in headwater streams in two Amazonian regions. Two Surber samplers of different sizes were used, one measuring 20 × 20 cm and the other 30 × 30 cm, both with a 0.25-mm net. The number of replicates taken was 6 for the smaller sampler and 3 for the bigger one, maintaining approximately the same total sampled area. The study was carried out in 12 headwater streams with different environmental conditions. Biological metrics were calculated for each size at each site and compared within each stream health category. A two-way analysis of similarities test was performed to compare the community structure assessed by each method at each stream. A normalized sampling effort was used to quantify the number of samples required to correctly sample each site. The data did not show a significant difference between the two sizes regarding the taxonomic recruitment and the community structure sampled at each stream, but differences were found between the two sizes in dominance values and in Shannon index scores for the natural sites. Furthermore, the smaller Surber was able to assess 70% of the estimated richness in all sites, which suggests that it is better to assess benthic macroinvertebrates than the larger Surber. Moreover, the smaller Surber is easier to transport in the field, reducing the effort of the technician, and takes less time to sort the material collected with it, which can reduce the sample processing effort, therefore reducing the cost of the project.
Although radical cystectomy, as the standard surgical treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer patients, prolongs survival remarkably, there are postoperative complications associated with urinary diversion. This study aimed to explore the antibiotic prophylaxis, according to culture of single J stent and urine from patients underwent urinary diversion (ileal conduit), its capacity to reduce the rate of urinary tract infection (UTI).
A total of 179 patients at Renji Hospital were reviewed in the study between Jan 2016 and June 2019. All patients included in this study were underwent radical cystectomy and ileal conduit. In Jan 2018, we enacted a quality initiative of urologic department to create a modified management. Following this initiative, antibiotic prophylaxis began to be used according to postoperative urine culture and stub of J-stent culture, which were obtained in 3rd days and 7th days after surgery, respectively. All consecutive patients treated with this process were compared with a convs procedure is associated with a significant decrease in UTI after surgery. During perioperative period, urine/single J stent culture with drug sensitivity test is necessary.In this paper, a dopingless fin-shaped SiGe channel TFET (DF-TFET) is proposed and studied. To form a high-efficiency dopingless line tunneling junction, a fin-shaped SiGe channel and a gate/source overlap are induced. Through these methods, the DF-TFET with high on-state current, switching ratio of 12 orders of magnitude and no obvious ambipolar effect can be obtained. High κ material stack gate dielectric is induced to improve the off-state leakage, interface characteristics and the reliability of DF-TFET. Moreover, by using the dopingless channel and fin structure, the difficulties of doping process and asymmetric gate overlap formation can be resolved. As a result, the structure of DF-TFET can possess good manufacture applicability and remarkably reduce footprint. The physical mechanism of device and the effect of parameters on performance are studied in this work. Finally, on-state current (ION) of 58.8 μA/μm, minimum subthreshold swing of 2.8 mV/dec (SSmin), average subthreshold swing (SSavg) of 18.2 mV/dec can be obtained. With improved capacitance characteristics, cutoff frequency of 5.04 GHz and gain bandwidth product of 1.29 GHz can be obtained. Heart blood from six donors was used for the i-PRF application. i-PRF was administered as a subgingival injection in the relevant groups on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th days. The tissues were evaluated histopathologically and immunohistochemically. Also, bone structures were examined using micro-CT. According to the data obtained, no statistically significant difference was observed among the groups in terms of bone resorption, inflammation, bone volume, bone levels (mesial/distal), and IL-1β, IFN-ɤ, TNF-α, VEGF values (p > 0.05). However, bone mineral density was statistically significantly different among the groups (Group3 > Group2 > Group1) (p less then 0.0001). Subgingival injection of only-i-PRF showed promising results in periodontitis treatment but contribution to SRP has not been proved according to this study results. Bromine (Br) can usually be found as a bromide (Br‾) form contained in drinking water. Bromate (BrO3‾) formation often occurred during the ozonation process in the presence of Br‾. BrO3‾ is classified as a potential human carcinogen, so both the Br‾ and BrO3‾ concentrations must be strictly controlled before and after an ozone-based treatment procedure, respectively. This work reports on distance-based paper analytical devices (dPADs) that have been modified with silver hexagonal nanoprisms (AgNPrs) for highly sensitive and selective determination of both Br‾ and BrO3‾. The measurement of BrO3‾ is based upon its conversion to bromine vapor (Br2) when gauged with a paper-based headspace extractor (PAD-HS) that is coupled with dPADs (PAD-HS-dPADs). For Br‾ analysis, O2 plays an important role in the change from Br‾ to Br2 within an acid media. Br2 changes rapidly in water to give us HBrO which is a strong oxidizing agent of AgNPrs. Then, the oxidative reaction of the AgNPrs (pink color) within the presence of Br‾ and BrO3‾ establishes both silver bromide (AgBr) and the silver nanosphere (AgNPs, yellow color), which can then be easily observed as a change of a pink color band to a yellow color band by the naked eye. Quantification of Br‾ and BrO3‾ is then achieved by measuring the length of the yellow color band. Under the optimal conditions, the calibration curve will be linear in the range of 25 μg L-1 to 2 mg L-1, and from 0.5 to 50 μg L-1 for Br‾ and BrO3‾, respectively. The naked-eye detection limits were found to be 10 and 0.5 μg L-1 for Br‾ and BrO3‾, respectively. The proposed dPADs for the Br‾ and BrO3‾ detection exhibited an exceptional sensor performance combined with a low detection limit. They also have the benefits of ease of use, an instrument-free convenience, coupled with portability and a low-cost efficiency. This study was focused on developing a method to determine 10 PFAS in placental tissue by combining salt-assisted liquid-liquid extraction with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Chemometric strategies were applied to optimize the experimental parameters. The limit of quantification was 0.02 ng g-1 for all analytes, and the inter-day variability (as relative standard deviation) ranged from 7.9% to 13.8%. Recoveries ranged from 88.2% to 113.9%. The suitableness of the procedure was demonstrated by assessing the targeted compounds in 20 placenta samples. The highest concentrations were recorded for perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonate, with maximum concentrations of 0.62 and 1.02 ng g-1 and median concentrations of 0.13 and 0.53 ng g-1, respectively. Median concentrations of the other PFAS ranged from detected values to 0.08 ng g-1. This work reports on distance-based paper analytical devices (dPADs) that have been modified with silver hexagonal nanoprisms (AgNPrs) for highly sensitive and selective determination of both Br‾ and BrO3‾. The measurement of BrO3‾ is based upon its conversion to bromine vapor (Br2) when gauged with a paper-based headspace extractor (PAD-HS) that is coupled with dPADs (PAD-HS-dPADs). For Br‾ analysis, O2 plays an important role in the change from Br‾ to Br2 within an acid media. Br2 changes rapidly in water to give us HBrO which is a strong oxidizing agent of AgNPrs. Then, the oxidative reaction of the AgNPrs (pink color) within the presence of Br‾ and BrO3‾ establishes both silver bromide (AgBr) and the silver nanosphere (AgNPs, yellow color), which can then be easily observed as a change of a pink color band to a yellow color band by the naked eye. Quantification of Br‾ and BrO3‾ is then achieved by measuring the length of the yellow color band. Under the optimal conditions, the calibration curve will be linear in the range of 25 μg L-1 to 2 mg L-1, and from 0.5 to 50 μg L-1 for Br‾ and BrO3‾, respectively. The naked-eye detection limits were found to be 10 and 0.5 μg L-1 for Br‾ and BrO3‾, respectively. The proposed dPADs for the Br‾ and BrO3‾ detection exhibited an exceptional sensor performance combined with a low detection limit. They also have the benefits of ease of use, an instrument-free convenience, coupled with portability and a low-cost efficiency. This study was focused on developing a method to determine 10 PFAS in placental tissue by combining salt-assisted liquid-liquid extraction with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Chemometric strategies were applied to optimize the experimental parameters. The limit of quantification was 0.02 ng g-1 for all analytes, and the inter-day variability (as relative standard deviation) ranged from 7.9% to 13.8%. Recoveries ranged from 88.2% to 113.9%. The suitableness of the procedure was demonstrated by assessing the targeted compounds in 20 placenta samples. We then used weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to further identify metabolism-related gene connections. To determine the critical genes related to COAD metabolism, we obtained 2,114 significantly differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 12 modules. Among them, we found the hub module to be significantly associated with histological typing, including non-mucin-producing colon adenocarcinoma and mucin-producing colon adenocarcinoma. Combining survival analysis, we identified glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase 1 (GDE1) as the most significant gene associated with histological typing and prognosis. This gene displayed significantly lower expression in COAD compared with normal tissues and was significantly correlated with the prognosis of non-mucin-producing colon adenocarcinoma (p = 0.0017). In the 1961-2019, we performed full-body necropsies of T. philomelos, which originated from the southern Czech Republic, and examined them for the presence of trematodes. We compared the trematode species richness and diversity of the analyzed component communities. The number of trematode species per host steadily increased in time in adult females and males. In juveniles, the highest numbers of trematode species per host were reached already in 1961-1990, then dropped and slowly raised up again in the latter time periods. The newly accumulated evidence suggests that trematodes with intermediate hosts previously restricted to T. philomelos wintering grounds increased in abundance in the study area. Some of them (Morishitium polonicum, Psilotornus confertus) sporadically appeared in juveniles or first-year birds, from which they were previously completely absent. Some of the spreading species, such as Lutztrema attenuatum, are present in high prevalence and high intensities of infection. Yet unknown part of observed changes could be related to changes in food composition; however, direct evidence for changes in T. philomelos diet is lacking despite clear evidence for a decline in earthworms in agricultural landscapes.Cowpea is an important pulse crop extensively grown in arid and semi-arid tropics which is affected by a number of diseases. Fungi belonging to mycelia sterilia are known to cause many diseases on cereals and pulses. During the cowpea field survey in Mysore District of Karnataka (India), Dactuliophora sp. was identified as the major pathogen causing zonate leaf spot (ZLS) disease. The fungal pathogen was isolated from naturally infected cowpea leaves and identified as a member belongs to the genus Dactuliophora, which was previously described by CLA Leakey in the year 1964 on Vigna unguiculata from Africa. However, detailed morphological and cultural examinations of the pathogen revealed striking differences from that of D. tarrii. Based on differences in morphology with D. tarrii, a new species Dactuliophora mysorensis sp. nov. is described herein. The disease incidence as well as disease index was estimated for 3 years (2016-2018). The severity of the disease was high during August-November. High incidence and disease index of ZLS was recorded in Doddamaragowdanahally region. The pathogenicity tests demonstrated similar symptoms of ZLS. The ITS barcoding revealed that the pathogen is closely related to Rhizoctonia bataticola and Macrophomina phaseolina. Further, in vitro evaluation of fungicides was carried out by poisoned food technique. Among the five fungicides examined, only two systemic fungicides (Benomyl and Carbendazim) were effective against D. mysorensis. Thus, the present study recommends Benomyl and Carbendazim for management of ZLS disease caused by D. mysorensis.Plasma-functionalized liquids (PFL) emerge as an effective sanitizer with great potential to be against a variety of microorganisms but their applications on seafood products are limited. In the current study, the physicochemical properties of plasma-functionalized water (PFW) and plasma-functionalized buffer (PFB), and their antimicrobial activities on grass carp, were investigated under different conditions of applied voltage, plasma exposure time and immersion time. Results indicated that increasing voltage and exposure time led to an increase in levels of reactive species in PFW and PFB, while the presence of citric acid in the buffer accelerated possible reactions of active species and enhanced acidification, electrical conductivity (EC) and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) as compared with PFW. Results also showed that the decontamination efficiency depended on voltage and exposure time, which could be up to 1.21 and 1.52 log reductions for L. monocytogenes, and 1.44 and 1.75 log reductions for S. Typhimurium for PFW and PFB, respectively. Immersing fish fillet samples in both solutions also led to a reduced pH and increased total acidity level in the samples with no significant difference (p > 0.05) between PFW and PFB, while PFB greatly affected the colour change in fish fillets. Here, we showed that substitution of Val87 residue in the extracellular domain of the hP2X7R with isoleucine in the rP2X7R increased the current responses of the hP2X7R to both ATP and BzATP. Conversely, introduction of reciprocal I87V mutation in the rP2X7R led to a noticeable but statistically insignificant reduction in the current responses of the rP2X7R to ATP and BzATP. The mutations did not affect the sensitivity of the human and rat P2X7Rs to ATP and BzATP. Fungi belonging to mycelia sterilia are known to cause many diseases on cereals and pulses. During the cowpea field survey in Mysore District of Karnataka (India), Dactuliophora sp. was identified as the major pathogen causing zonate leaf spot (ZLS) disease. The fungal pathogen was isolated from naturally infected cowpea leaves and identified as a member belongs to the genus Dactuliophora, which was previously described by CLA Leakey in the year 1964 on Vigna unguiculata from Africa. However, detailed morphological and cultural examinations of the pathogen revealed striking differences from that of D. tarrii. Based on differences in morphology with D. tarrii, a new species Dactuliophora mysorensis sp. nov. is described herein. The disease incidence as well as disease index was estimated for 3 years (2016-2018). The severity of the disease was high during August-November. High incidence and disease index of ZLS was recorded in Doddamaragowdanahally region. The pathogenicity tests demonstrated similar symptoms of ZLS. The ITS barcoding revealed that the pathogen is closely related to Rhizoctonia bataticola and Macrophomina phaseolina. Further, in vitro evaluation of fungicides was carried out by poisoned food technique. Among the five fungicides examined, only two systemic fungicides (Benomyl and Carbendazim) were effective against D. mysorensis. Thus, the present study recommends Benomyl and Carbendazim for management of ZLS disease caused by D. mysorensis.Plasma-functionalized liquids (PFL) emerge as an effective sanitizer with great potential to be against a variety of microorganisms but their applications on seafood products are limited. In the current study, the physicochemical properties of plasma-functionalized water (PFW) and plasma-functionalized buffer (PFB), and their antimicrobial activities on grass carp, were investigated under different conditions of applied voltage, plasma exposure time and immersion time. Results indicated that increasing voltage and exposure time led to an increase in levels of reactive species in PFW and PFB, while the presence of citric acid in the buffer accelerated possible reactions of active species and enhanced acidification, electrical conductivity (EC) and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) as compared with PFW. Results also showed that the decontamination efficiency depended on voltage and exposure time, which could be up to 1.21 and 1.52 log reductions for L. monocytogenes, and 1.44 and 1.75 log reductions for S. Typhimurium for PFW and PFB, respectively. Immersing fish fillet samples in both solutions also led to a reduced pH and increased total acidity level in the samples with no significant difference (p > 0.05) between PFW and PFB, while PFB greatly affected the colour change in fish fillets. Here, we showed that substitution of Val87 residue in the extracellular domain of the hP2X7R with isoleucine in the rP2X7R increased the current responses of the hP2X7R to both ATP and BzATP. Conversely, introduction of reciprocal I87V mutation in the rP2X7R led to a noticeable but statistically insignificant reduction in the current responses of the rP2X7R to ATP and BzATP. The mutations did not affect the sensitivity of the human and rat P2X7Rs to ATP and BzATP. Furthermore, autophagy-related 5 (ATG5) and autophagy-related 12 (ATG12) were confirmed as direct targets of miR-372-3p. Restoration of either ATG5 or ATG12 abrogated miR-372-3p-mediated autophagy inhibition and radiosensitivity. Here, we identified RFPL3 as a potential import cargo for IPO13, which was found to be overexpressed in NSCLC cells and tissues. IPO13 interacted with RFPL3 in lung cancer cells, and the knockdown of IPO13 led to the cytoplasmic accumulation of RFPL3, the decreased anchoring of RFPL3 at hTERT promoter, and the downregulation of hTERT expression. Moreover, IPO13 silencing suppressed tumor growth in vitro and in vivo. IHC analysis confirmed the positive correlation between the expression levels of IPO13 and hTERT in the tumor tissues from patients with lung cancer. Furthermore, the mechanistic study revealed that IPO13 recognized RFPL3 via a functional nuclear localization signal (NLS), which is located in the B30.2 domain at the C-terminal region of RFPL3. Of note, the presence of EGFR mutations was significantly related to the increased IPO13 expression. To date, only a few cases have been reported of patients presenting acutely because of hemorrhagic MPE. CASE REPORT A 16-year-old boy without previous medical problems presented with a sudden onset of severe pain in the low **** radiating to the thighs. He could not walk owing to the severity of the pain. Neurological examination revealed an unsteady gait, but the rest of the motor and sensory examination was normal. Lumbosacral spine magnetic resonance imaging revealed an intradural hemorrhagic mass extending from L5 to S2. The encapsulated hemorrhagic tumor was resected, and the pathology was consistent with MPE grade I. The patient made a significant recovery postoperatively. It is extremely rare for MPE to present with spontaneous hemorrhage in the lumbosacral region. Prompt diagnosis and management led to a favorable outcome. This case report is intended to highlight the atypical presentation and imaging features of hemorrhagic MPE. CONCLUSIONS We described a rare case of MPE in the lumbosacral region of a patient who presented with acute neurological compromise and atypical imaging features.BACKGROUND Three-dimensional (3D) images can provide additional information on bone fractures, especially in patients with intra-articular distal radius fractures (DRFs). We aimed to identify possible risk factors for adverse outcomes using a 3D reconstruction technique. MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed adult patients who underwent plaster immobilization with or without closed reduction for DRFs in our hospital between February 2016 and May 2019. The 3D reconstruction image of DRFs was viewed from multiple angles to determine the existence of gaps or steps. Then, a semiquantitative standard was used to assess the severity of fracture. The patients' basic data and radiographic data were collected, and multiple linear regression analyses were used to identify possible risk factors associated with adverse outcomes. RESULTS A total of 89 cases were analyzed in our study. There were 28, 39, and 22 patients with level 1, 2, or 3 fractures, respectively, based on the semiquantitative standard. In a multiple linear regression, preoperative severity degree (ß, 0.393; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.260-0.526) and postoperative rehabilitation exercise (ß, 0.352; 95% CI, 0.023-0.681) were associated with the Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation during follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Our study presents a new method based on 3D reconstruction images to assess the severity of intra-articular DRFs. Patients who were identified as having severe fractures based on this method were found to have worse functional outcome.
