Twenty-two subjects were enrolled in this study and completed the clinical evaluation. The mean value of the score obtained for the aesthetic outcome was 2.91 ± 0.92, slightly less than good. The VHI-30 questionnaire for voice evaluation obtained a mean score of 22.5 ± 11.5, pointing out minor voice problems. The mean value of the P-score evaluated during Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing was 4.64 ± 0.95, highlighting the near absence of endoscopic signs of dysphagia. On the evaluation of ocular function, only one subject showed an inferior displacement of his right eyeball without vertical diplopia. (4) The specialist surgeons were deeply divided regarding the question of the forced sterilization of patients with cleft lips and palates. (5) After 1945, the vast majority of NSDAP members did not suffer any career setbacks. It can be concluded that maxillofacial surgeons joined the NSDAP to a greater extent than the medical profession as a whole (ca. 45%). This was partly due to the fact that the Nazis emphasized the important role of maxillofacial surgeons in the care of injured soldiers and civilians.   • This study examined the factors affecting HIV testing among women during pregnancy while on ANC visits in Kenya, using the 2014 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey data. The sample included 3,747 (weighted N = 36,626) pregnant women who gave birth in last two years. Survey-weighted bivariate and multivariable analyses were performed. Initially, leaf spots were mainly circular, 2 to 5 mm in diameter, water-soaked, surrounded by a weak chlorotic halo, but later became light to dark brown and necrotic. Eventually, the spots merged and necrotic tissue dropped out, leaving a "shot-hole" leaf appearance. On apricot fruits small, dark brown, mainly circular superficial lesions were observed. The lesions merged and formed large necrotic areas reducing the quality of fruits. Symptoms were not observed on woody parts, such as twigs or stem. A total of 10 bacterial strains, forming yellow, convex, and mucoid colonies on yeast extract-dextrose-CaCO3 (YDC) medium, were isolated from symptomatic leaf and fruit tissue. All strains induced hypersensitive reaction in tobacco leaves. They were ) and on peach (Popović et al. 2020) in Montenegro. This is the first report of Xap affecting apricot in this country. Therefore, strict phytosanitary measures have to be implemented to prevent spread of the pathogen in other areas and other susceptible hosts.Highly nonclassical character of optical quantum detectors, such as single-photon detectors, is essential for preparation of quantum states of light and a vast majority of applications in quantum metrology and quantum information processing. Therefore, it is both fundamentally interesting and practically relevant to investigate the nonclassical features of optical quantum measurements. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate a procedure for direct certification of quantum non-Gaussianity and Wigner function negativity, two crucial nonclassicality levels, of photonic quantum detectors. Remarkably, we characterize the highly nonclassical properties of the detector by probing it with only two classical thermal states and a vacuum state. We experimentally demonstrate the quantum non-Gaussianity of a single-photon avalanche diode even under the presence of background noise, and we also certify the negativity of the Wigner function of this detector. Our results open the way for direct benchmarking of photonic quantum detectors with a few measurements on classical states.We report high-precision mass measurements of ^50-55Sc isotopes performed at the LEBIT facility at NSCL and at the TITAN facility at TRIUMF. Our results provide a substantial reduction of their uncertainties and indicate significant deviations, up to 0.7 MeV, from the previously recommended mass values for ^53-55Sc. The results of this work provide an important update to the description of emerging closed-shell phenomena at neutron numbers N=32 and N=34 above proton-magic Z=20. In particular, they finally enable a complete and precise characterization of the trends in ground state binding energies along the N=32 isotone, confirming that the empirical neutron shell gap energies peak at the doubly magic ^52Ca. Moreover, our data, combined with other recent measurements, do not support the existence of a closed neutron shell in ^55Sc at N=34. The results were compared to predictions from both ab initio and phenomenological nuclear theories, which all had success describing N=32 neutron shell gap energies but were highly disparate in the description of the N=34 isotone.We use the half-filled zeroth Landau level in graphene as a regularization scheme to study the physics of the SO(5) nonlinear sigma model subject to a Wess-Zumino-Witten topological term in 2+1 dimensions. As shown by Ippoliti et al. [Phys. Rev. B 98, 235108 (2019)PRBMDO2469-995010.1103/PhysRevB.98.235108], this approach allows for negative sign free auxiliary field quantum Monte Carlo simulations. The model has a single free parameter U_0 that monitors the stiffness. Within the parameter range accessible to negative sign free simulations, we observe an ordered phase in the large U_0 or stiff limit. Remarkably, upon reducing U_0 the magnetization drops substantially, and the correlation length exceeds our biggest system sizes, accommodating 100 flux quanta. The implications of our results for deconfined quantum phase transitions between valence bond solids and antiferromagnets are discussed.Sources of intense, ultrashort electromagnetic pulses enable applications such as attosecond pulse generation, control of electron motion in solids, and the observation of reaction dynamics at the electronic level. The moving electron density spike of the wake amplifies the seed and forms a subcycle pulse. Controlling the CEP of the seed pulse or the delay between driver and seed leads to CEP tunability, while frequency tunability can be achieved by adjusting the laser and plasma parameters. Our 2D and 3D particle-in-cell simulations predict laser-to-subcycle-pulse conversion efficiencies up to 1%, resulting in relativistically intense subcycle pulses.

    The fifth metatarsal diaphyseal fracture is a common fracture. However, clear consensus about the treatment is lacking. Unlike the avulsion fracture or Jones' fracture, literature available on the treatment and long-term outcome of the diaphyseal fracture is scarce.The purpose of this study is to demonstrate a substantial number of conservatively treated patients with persistent pain and to evaluate metatarsal shortening and displacement within this group.

    In this retrospective study, 106 patients who had experienced a fifth metatarsal diaphyseal fracture were included and evaluated. The minimum follow-up period was three months. FAAM, AOFAS and NRS scores were used as outcome measurements for function and pain. Length and displacement were analysed on plain X-rays.

    At least 11% of the patients who received conservative treatment for their fifth metatarsal diaphyseal fracture had persistent pain at least 3 months after initiation of conservative treatment. No relationship has been found between the length of the fifth metatarsal and the FAAM (r( Petrisor etal., 2006) 2=0,051), AOFAS (r( Petrisor etal., 2006) 2=0,009) and NRS (r( Petrisor etal., 2006) 2=0,001). Furthermore, there was no association between patients with a shorter fifth metatarsal and FAAM, AOFAS, NRS, displacement and BMI.

Group differences were analyzed with ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc analysis. Complications, reoperations, nonunion rates, and readmissions between groups were evaluated with Chi-squared test and logistic regression analyses.

    Case volume during the study period was significantly higher after 2007. Trauma candidates performed significantly more operations for clavicle fracture per candidate while candidates with other or no fellowship(s) performed significantly fewer operations per candidate.     The aim of this study was to investigate the use of pre-operative templating for bipolar hip arthroplasty (BHA) for displaced femoral neck fracture using multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) of computed tomography (CT) images.

    Nineteen patients who underwent BHA were enrolled in this study. For pre- and post-operative evaluation, a CT scan was performed from the pelvis to the knee joints. MPR of the CT image was done using software to measure the femoral head cup diameter, offset, stem size, length of the modular neck, distance from the neck osteotomy, and femoral anteversion. We compared these parameters pre- and post-operatively.

    Both the femoral head cup diameter and length of the modular neck were found to be significantly different between pre- and post-operative measurements, although the differences were minor. Other parameters, including the femoral offset, were not significantly different between the pre- and post-operative measurements. The size of the femoral stem, cup diameter, and length of the modular neck were consistent with the planned size and accurate (within ±1 size) in more than 84% cases.

The fifth metatarsal diaphyseal fracture is a common fracture. However, clear consensus about the treatment is lacking. Unlike the avulsion fracture or Jones' fracture, literature available on the treatment and long-term outcome of the diaphyseal fracture is scarce.The purpose of this study is to demonstrate a substantial number of conservatively treated patients with persistent pain and to evaluate metatarsal shortening and displacement within this group. In this retrospective study, 106 patients who had experienced a fifth metatarsal diaphyseal fracture were included and evaluated. The minimum follow-up period was three months. FAAM, AOFAS and NRS scores were used as outcome measurements for function and pain. Length and displacement were analysed on plain X-rays. At least 11% of the patients who received conservative treatment for their fifth metatarsal diaphyseal fracture had persistent pain at least 3 months after initiation of conservative treatment. No relationship has been found between the length of the fifth metatarsal and the FAAM (r( Petrisor etal., 2006) 2=0,051), AOFAS (r( Petrisor etal., 2006) 2=0,009) and NRS (r( Petrisor etal., 2006) 2=0,001).     The aim of the present study is to evaluate the correlation between maternal hemodynamic parameters detected by UltraSonic Cardiac Output Monitor (USCOM
    ) and ultrasound or biochemical parameters in women during the first-trimester screening of chromosomal abnormalities.

    This was a prospective observational study with 162 women enrolled during the first-trimester ultrasound, recording demographic, biochemical and ultrasound data, including the pulsatility index of uterine arteries (UTPI). Hemodynamic indices were obtained using the USCOM
    system. We also analyzed the outcomes of pregnancy of those women who delivered in our clinic.

    As for the correlation between biochemical and ultrasound parameters, pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A) relates inversely with the mean UTPI (

We present the case of a four-year-old female with CMTC and associated painful, recalcitrant ulcers successfully treated with a combination of pulsed dye laser and intense pulsed light therapy.We evaluate the safety of bendamustine as a bridge to stem cell transplantation (SCT) in patients with relapsed/refractory lymphoma and residual disease after salvage therapy. Thirty-four subjects without complete responses (CR) received bendamustine 200 mg/m2/day for 2 days followed 14 days later by SCT. Sixteen subjects in partial remission (PR) with maximal FDG-PET SUVs ≤8 prior to bendamustine received autologous SCT, while 13 with suboptimal responses were allografted. Five subjects did not proceed to transplant. No bendamustine toxicities precluded transplantation and no detrimental effect on engraftment or early treatment-related mortality (TRM) was attributable to bendamustine. At 1 year, 75% of auto-recipients and 31% of allo-recipients were alive with CR. Two subjects in the autologous arm developed therapy-related myeloid neoplasia (t-MN). In conclusion, a bendamustine bridge to SCT can be administered without early toxicity to patients with suboptimal responses to salvage chemotherapy.     In this non-equivalent groups design, there were two groups 'pre-MPU' and 'actual MPU'. Staff assessed whether patients in the pre-MPU group were eligible for admission to a planned MPU, resulting in virtual admissions and discharges. The actual MPU group consisted of patients admitted after opening of the MPU.

    The length of stay (LOS) in the hospital was one day longer for patients in the MPU group (8.68 vs. 9.89,
     = .004), but the LOS on the MPU was comparable in both groups (5.63 vs. 6.06,
     = .231). The LOS on the intensive care unit (ICU) was longer in the MPU group (0.10 vs. 0.40,
     < .001), even as the time patients were physically restraint (0.28 vs. 0.83,
     < .001). In the pre-MPU group, the odds were not significantly different for involuntary commitment (OR = 0.92;
     = .866) and death within six months after discharge (OR = 1.84;
     = .196).

Nonetheless, there are still many problems related to the identification and validation of asthma phenotypes and endotypes. Alternatively, a precision-medicine strategy for the management of patients with airways disease that is free from the traditional diagnostic labels and based on identifying "treatable traits" in each patient might be preferable. However, it would represent a quite unsophisticated approach because the definition of a treatable trait is too imprecise. In fact, there is still no understanding of the mechanisms underlying treatable traits that allow directing any targeted therapies against any particular treatable trait.     Many studies have analyzed the cost-effectiveness of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), but hospital costs have not been as thoroughly reported. This study reviewed the associated hospital costs for non-surgical patients who received ICDs from 2015 to 2019.

    We performed a retrospective single-center analysis of patients who received an ICD between 2015 and 2019. ICD cost was analyzed with respect to time using linear regression t-test analysis.

    For 304 patients, we trended cost of the devices over time. 168 (55.2%) cases were single-chamber devices, 53 (17.4%) were dual-chamber, 59 (19.4%) were cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillators (CRT-D), and 24 (7.9%) were subcutaneous devices.     Ablation index (AI) is a radiofrequency lesion quality marker. The AI value that allows effective and safe pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is still debated. We evaluated the incidence of acute and late PV reconnection (PVR) with different AI settings and its predictors.

    The Ablation Index Registry is a multicenter study that included patients with paroxysmal/persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) who underwent first-time ablation. Each operator performed the ablation using his preferred ablation catheter (ThermoCool® SmartTouch or Surround Flow) and AI setting (380 posterior-500 anterior and 330 posterior-450 anterior). We divided the study population into two groups according to the AI setting used group 1 (330-450) and group 2 (380-500). Incidence of acute PVR was validated within 30 min after PVI, whereas the incidence of late PVR was evaluated at repeat procedure.

    Overall, 490 patients were divided into groups 1 (258) and 2 (232). There was no significant difference in the procedural time, fluoroscopy time, and rate of the first-pass PVI between the two study groups. Acute PVR was observed in 5.6% PVs. The rate of acute PVR was slightly higher in group 2 (64/943, 6.8%, PVs) than in group 1 (48/1045, 4.6% PVs, p = 0.04). Thirty patients (6%) underwent a repeat procedure and late PVR was observed in 57/116 (49%) PVs (number of reconnected PV per patient of 1.9 ± 1.6). However, it would represent a quite unsophisticated approach because the definition of a treatable trait is too imprecise. In fact, there is still no understanding of the mechanisms underlying treatable traits that allow directing any targeted therapies against any particular treatable trait. Fortunately, in-depth identification of underlying molecular pathways to guide targeted treatment in individual patients is in progress thanks to the improvement in big data management obtained from '-omic' sciences that is greatly increasing knowledge concerning asthma. Many studies have analyzed the cost-effectiveness of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), but hospital costs have not been as thoroughly reported. This study reviewed the associated hospital costs for non-surgical patients who received ICDs from 2015 to 2019. We performed a retrospective single-center analysis of patients who received an ICD between 2015 and 2019. ICD cost was analyzed with respect to time using linear regression t-test analysis. For 304 patients, we trended cost of the devices over time. 168 (55.2%) cases were single-chamber devices, 53 (17.4%) were dual-chamber, 59 (19.4%) were cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillators (CRT-D), and 24 (7.9%) were subcutaneous devices. The cost of all ICDs decreased by -$1.82/day (p<0.001), R = 0.056. Ablation index (AI) is a radiofrequency lesion quality marker. The AI value that allows effective and safe pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is still debated. We evaluated the incidence of acute and late PV reconnection (PVR) with different AI settings and its predictors. The Ablation Index Registry is a multicenter study that included patients with paroxysmal/persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) who underwent first-time ablation. Each operator performed the ablation using his preferred ablation catheter (ThermoCool® SmartTouch or Surround Flow) and AI setting (380 posterior-500 anterior and 330 posterior-450 anterior). We divided the study population into two groups according to the AI setting used group 1 (330-450) and group 2 (380-500). Incidence of acute PVR was validated within 30 min after PVI, whereas the incidence of late PVR was evaluated at repeat procedure. Overall, 490 patients were divided into groups 1 (258) and 2 (232). There was no significant difference in the procedural time, fluoroscopy time, and rate of the first-pass PVI between the two study groups. Acute PVR was observed in 5.6% PVs.     Circular ribonucleic acids (circRNAs) are considered as the key regulatory factors for human malignancies in recent years, and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a common malignancy worldwide, but the molecular mechanism of circRNAs in LUAD has not been completely investigated. Therefore, the mechanism by which circRNA protein kinase C iota (circPRKCI) regulates LUAD cell migration proliferation, and cycle was preliminarily explored in this research, so as to provide new ideas for the treatment of LUAD.

    First of all, the circPRKCI expression level in LUAD tissues was tested via quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assay, and the relationship between circPRKCI and the patients' prognosis was analyzed. Then, circPRKCI expression was inhibited by small interfering RNA (siRNA), and the influence of circPRKCI on t LUAD cells' ability to proliferate was verified via 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) and cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assays. Moreover, the influence of circPRKCI on LUAD cof miR-219a-5p and could the two conjugated with each other based on the results of Dual-Luciferase reporter gene assay. Moreover, qRT-PCR assay findings illustrated that CAMK1D was evidently highly expressed in LUAD tissues, and the results of Pearson correlation analysis revealed that CAMK1D expression exhibited a negative association with that of miR-219a-5p and a positive correlation with that of circPRKCI.

    Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. microRNAs (miRNAs) have been confirmed as vital regulators of multiple tumors, including NSCLC. The aim of the current study was to explore the biological mechanisms of miR-99b in NSCLC progression.

    NSCLC tissues and adjacent matched human non-neoplastic lung tissues used in this study were collected from 50 cases of NSCLC patients. The expression of miR-99b and NIPBL in NSCLC tissues and cell lines (A549, NCI-H460, NCI-H1299 and SPC-A1) were determined by real-time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The NIPBL protein level was measured by Western blot. Dual-Luciferase reporter, Western blotting and qRT-PCR were carried out to verify the potential target of miR-99b. Transwell assay was used for investigating miR-99b effect on cell migration and invasion in NSCLC cells.

    The results of qRT-PCR indicated that the expression of miR-99b was downregulated in the NSCLC tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of miR-99b could significantly inhibit the invasion and migration capacities in NSCLC cells. Furthermore, we also determined that NIPBL was a direct target of miR-99b. Additionally, we found NIPBL was implicated in the suppressive effects on NSCLC cell invasion and migration mediated by miR-99b.

    In summary, miR-99b exerted anti-tumor functions in NSCLC via regulation of NIPBL, suggesting that miR-99b/NIPBL axis may be novel biomarkers for NSCLC treatments.

    The purpose of this study was to review the effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in the first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma with wild-type epidermal grow factor receptor (EGFR) or anaplastic lymphoma kinase.

    After a standard literature search, we identified all randomized studies published on this issue. Our first inclusion criterion was the use of pembrolizumab, nivolumab, atezolizumab or durvalumab in the treatment arm versus chemotherapy in the control arm. The second criterion was the availability of information on overall survival at 2 years. The restricted mean survival time (RMST) was used to analyze the survival curves and rank the treatments.

    From the eligible studies, we selected 5 randomized trials that met our inclusion criteria. These trials studied a total of 11 cohorts of patients in whom the treatment arm received ICI as monotherapy (n=3) or in combination with either chemotherapy (n=2) or other monoclonal antibodies (n=1). All the control groups (n=5) received chemotherapy.     The reversal effect of VER on cisplatin resistance in ESCC cells was evaluated via CCK-8 assay, colony formation assessment, and flow cytometry. The aim of the current study was to explore the biological mechanisms of miR-99b in NSCLC progression. NSCLC tissues and adjacent matched human non-neoplastic lung tissues used in this study were collected from 50 cases of NSCLC patients. The expression of miR-99b and NIPBL in NSCLC tissues and cell lines (A549, NCI-H460, NCI-H1299 and SPC-A1) were determined by real-time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The NIPBL protein level was measured by Western blot. Dual-Luciferase reporter, Western blotting and qRT-PCR were carried out to verify the potential target of miR-99b. The purpose of this study was to review the effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in the first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma with wild-type epidermal grow factor receptor (EGFR) or anaplastic lymphoma kinase. After a standard literature search, we identified all randomized studies published on this issue. Our first inclusion criterion was the use of pembrolizumab, nivolumab, atezolizumab or durvalumab in the treatment arm versus chemotherapy in the control arm. The second criterion was the availability of information on overall survival at 2 years. The restricted mean survival time (RMST) was used to analyze the survival curves and rank the treatments. From the eligible studies, we selected 5 randomized trials that met our inclusion criteria. These trials studied a total of 11 cohorts of patients in whom the treatment arm received ICI as monotherapy (n=3) or in combination with either chemotherapy (n=2) or other monoclonal antibodies (n=1). All the control groups (n=5) received chemotherapy. The role of artificial intelligence in more directly imaging-related tasks, such as dose optimization, image corrections and image reconstruction, have been particularly strong points of artificial intelligence research in nuclear medicine. Natural Language Processing (NLP)-based text processing task is another area of interest of artificial intelligence implementation in nuclear medicine.
    This retrospective study aimed to analyzed the F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose PET/computed tomography (F-18 FDG PET/CT) features of pulmonary sclerosing pneumocytoma (PSP) to improve the understanding and preoperative diagnostic efficacy of this rare disorder.

    FDG PET/CT images from 11 patients with 22 lesions (including one patient with 12 lesions) proven PSP in our hospital were reviewed. We summarized the PET/CT features of PSP and analyzed the correlation between FDG uptake and tumor size.

    PET/CT imaging revealed all tumors located in each lobe of the two lungs randomly. All 22 tumors were round or oval nodules; 15 had smooth margins, six were lobulated, six were calcified, and one had a ground-glass halo sign. The mean diameter of these tumors was 19.2 ± 7.8 mm (range 8-34 mm); the mean maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) was 2.8 ± 1.3 (range 1.1-7.4). Sixteen of the lesions exhibited mild to moderate FDG uptake (mean SUVmax 2.3 ± 0.6), and six of the lesions exhibited intense FDG uptake (mean SUVmax 4.3 ± 1.6). A positive correlation was observed between FDG uptake and tumor size (P <0.05).

    Single round or ovoid soft-tissue lesions with smooth margins, and mild to moderate FDG uptake on PET/CT images in middle-aged females, suggest a possible diagnosis of PSP.     Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) is widely used for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but early treatment response can be very difficult to assess. The aim was to evaluate 18F-fluorocholine PET/computed tomography (CT) to assess the treatment response in patients with intermediate or locally advanced HCC.

    Between March 2019 and July 2020, nine HCC patients treated with TARE, who underwent PET/CT at baseline and 1 month after treatment, were enrolled. The maximum, mean (SUVmean), and peak (SUVpeak) standardized uptake value (SUV), SUV normalized by lean body mass (SUL), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were measured. Statistical analysis used the Mann-Whitney test to evaluate the differences in parameters between responders (partial and complete response) and nonresponders (stable or progressive disease) at the 6-month follow-up, according to the modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors.

    Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/computed tomography (CT) is a novel imaging tool with an evolving role in the management of prostate cancer. This study aims to retrospectively evaluate the impact of 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT on prostate cancer staging and definitive radiation therapy planning.

    Between April 2015 and June 2020, 366 men with prostate cancer were evaluated with 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT. Of these, 108 patients had PSMA PET/CT before radiation therapy. Radiation was given as primary treatment in 58 (54%) and as salvage radiation therapy for biochemical recurrence after primary surgery in 50 (46%) patients, respectively. Patient and disease characteristics were analyzed, and impact of PSMA PET/CT on disease staging and radiotherapy planning was evaluated in comparison to conventional imaging.

    Median age at presentation was 69 years, and median prostate-specific antigen was 18 ng/mL (3.6-400) for primary and 0.4 ng/mL (0.1-4.6) for salvage radiation, respectively. The objectives of this work were therefore to evaluate the effect of microbiological spoilage and drying on the polyphenol profile and antioxidant capacity of GP; define a drying procedure by comparing kinetics of freeze-drying (FD) and vacuum oven (VO) (at 60 °C and 40 °C). Microbiological spoilage led to significant losses (P less then 0.01) of antioxidant capacity (40% to 87%) and total phenolic content (70% to 90%), while drying had no significant effect. FD and VO at 60 °C drying kinetics exhibited similar drying curves, and a dry weight (DW) plateau was reached by 48 hr. In contrast VO at 40 °C required 170 hr to reach similar DW values, pointing out the importance of temperature when opting for VO technology. Antioxidant capacity of GP extracts did not differ between drying methods. Interestingly, GPs from white and rosé wines (AUX, PB, and GAM) had up to 3.5 times higher content (P less then 0.001) of total polyphenols compared to PN, obtained from red wine. These results reinforce the importance of drying of GP as a pretreatment, which otherwise could result in significant product degradation. We seek to examine (1) the association between family care availability and place of death; and (2) caregiving intensity associated with place of death.

    Household size and number of daughters are important determinants of place of death. Despite dying at home being associated with more hours of direct caregiving; caregiver emotional strain was experienced as higher for hospital deaths. Better support services for end-of-life caregivers might improve patient and caregiver experiences for home and hospital deaths.
    The need for effective interventions for psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents who have varying levels of postdischarge suicide risk calls for personalized approaches, such as adaptive interventions (AIs). We conducted a nonrestricted pilot Sequential, Multiple Assignment, Randomized Trial (SMART) to guide the development of an AI targeting suicide risk after hospitalization.

    Adolescent inpatients (N=80; ages 13-17; 67.5% female) were randomized in Phase 1 to a Motivational Interview-Enhanced Safety Plan (MI-SP), delivered during hospitalization, alone or in combination with postdischarge text-based support (Texts). Two weeks after discharge, participants were re-randomized in Phase 2 to added telephone booster calls or to no calls. Mechanisms of change were assessed with daily diaries for four weeks and over a 1- and 3-month follow-up. This trial is registered with clinicaltrials.gov (identifier NCT03838198).

    The compounds were obtained through a synthetic route of only two steps, with yields that varied between 33.6 and 90.4%, and characterized by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques.

    An initial screening through the lymphoproliferation assay revealed that compounds LT76, LT81, and LT87 were able to inhibit lymphocyte proliferation, with CC

We seek to examine (1) the association between family care availability and place of death; and (2) caregiving intensity associated with place of death. 2017 National Health and Aging Trends Study and National Study of Caregiving; nationally representative cross-sectional study of deceased older adults and last-month-of-life (LML) caregivers. United States; all places of deaths. Three-hundred and seventy-five decedents and 267 LML caregivers. Place of death (home, hospital, and nursing or hospice facility), family care availability (spouse/partner, household size, number of daughters and sons), caregiving intensity (hours of help provided at LML and a binary indicator for high care-related emotional difficulty). 38.9% of older adults died at home, followed by hospital (33.1%), and nursing or hospice facihome and hospital deaths. Household size and number of daughters are important determinants of place of death. Despite dying at home being associated with more hours of direct caregiving; caregiver emotional strain was experienced as higher for hospital deaths. Better support services for end-of-life caregivers might improve patient and caregiver experiences for home and hospital deaths. The need for effective interventions for psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents who have varying levels of postdischarge suicide risk calls for personalized approaches, such as adaptive interventions (AIs). We conducted a nonrestricted pilot Sequential, Multiple Assignment, Randomized Trial (SMART) to guide the development of an AI targeting suicide risk after hospitalization. Adolescent inpatients (N=80; ages 13-17; 67.5% female) were randomized in Phase 1 to a Motivational Interview-Enhanced Safety Plan (MI-SP), delivered during hospitalization, alone or in combination with postdischarge text-based support (Texts). Two weeks after discharge, participants were re-randomized in Phase 2 to added telephone booster calls or to no calls. Mechanisms of change were assessed with daily diaries for four weeks and over a 1- and 3-month follow-up. This trial is registered with clinicaltrials.gov (identifier NCT03838198). In this article, a series of 20 new thiosemicarbazone derivatives containing indole were synthesized and evaluated for their anti-inflammatory potential. The compounds were obtained through a synthetic route of only two steps, with yields that varied between 33.6 and 90.4%, and characterized by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques. An initial screening through the lymphoproliferation assay revealed that compounds LT76, LT81, and LT87 were able to inhibit lymphocyte proliferation, with CC of 0.56 ± 0.036, 0.9 ± 0.01 and 0.5 ± 0.07µM, respectively, better results than indomethacin (CC  > 12µM). In addition, these compounds were able to suppress the in-vitro production of TNF-α and NO, in addition to stimulating the production of IL-4. Reinforcing in-vitro assays, the compounds were able to inhibit COX-2 similar to Celecoxib showing greater selectivity for this isoform (LT81 SI 23.06 versus Celecoxib SI 11.88). Animal studies showed that compounds LT76 (64.8% inhibition after 6h), LT81 (89% inhibition after 6h) and LT87 (100% inhibition after 4h) were able to suppress edema in mice after inoculation carrageenan with greater potency than indomethacin, and immunohistochemistry revealed that the groups treated with LT76, LT81 and LT87 reduced the expression of COX-2, similar or better results when compared to indomethacin.

  • Development of novel technologies provides the best tissue constructs engineering and maximizes their therapeutic effects in regenerative therapy, especially for liver dysfunctions. Among the currently investigated approaches of tissue engineering, scaffold-based and scaffold-free tissues are widely suggested for liver regeneration. Analogs of liver acellular extracellular matrix (ECM) are utilized in native scaffolds to increase the self-repair and healing ability of organs. Native ECM analog could improve liver repairing through providing the supportive framework for cells and signaling molecules, exerting normal biomechanical, biochemical, and physiological signal complexes. Recently, innovative cell sheet technology is introduced as an alternative for conventional tissue engineering with the advantage of fewer scaffold restrictions and cell culture on a Thermo-Responsive Polymer Surface. These sheets release the layered cells through a temperature-controlled procedure without enzymatic digestion, while preserving the cell-ECM contacts and adhesive molecules on cell-cell junctions. In addition, several novelties have been introduced into the cell sheet and decellularization technologies to aid cell growth, instruct differentiation/angiogenesis, and promote cell migration. In this review, recent trends, advancements, and issues linked to translation into clinical practice are dissected and compared regarding the decellularization and cell sheet technologies for liver tissue engineering.MiR-375, a primitively described beta cell-specific miRNA, is confirmed to function as multi-functional regulator in diverse typical cellular pathways according to the follow-up researches. Based on the existing studies, miR-375 can regulate many functional genes and ectopic expressions of miR-375 are usually associated with pathological changes, and its expression regulation mechanism is mainly related to promoter methylation or circRNA. In this review, the regulatory functions of miR-375 in immunity, such as its relevance with macrophages, T helper cells and autoimmune diseases were briefly discussed. Also, the functions of miR-375 involved in inflammation, development and virus replication were reviewed. Finally, the mechanisms and application prospects of miR-375 in cancers were analyzed. Studies show that the application of miR-375 as therapeutic target and biomarker has a broad developing space in future. We hope this paper can provide reference for its further study.
    This study aimed to investigate the gastroprotective effect of chlorogenic acid (CGA) against Indomethacin (IND)-induced gastric ulcer (**) in rats and its underlying mechanism, especially through autophagic and apoptotic pathways.

    Seventy-five rats were divided into five groups; control, IND (50mg/kg, p.o.), CGA (100mg/kg, p.o., 14days), IND pretreated with CGA (50mg/kg or 100mg/kg, p.o., 14days). The stomach tissues were examined to calculate the ulcer index and analyze markers of autophagy (beclin-1, LC3-II/LC3-I and p62), lysosomal function (cathepsin-D) and apoptosis (Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3), along with expression of Akt/mTOR pathway using western blot or ELISA techniques. In addition, viability of gastric mucosal cells was detected by flowcytometry. Structural changes were assessed histologically, while autophagic and apoptotic changes of gastric mucosa were observed by transmission electron microscopy.

Insulin signalling cascade harbours several downstream sub-pathways, which are synergistically involved in discharging indispensable biological functions such as growth and proliferation, metabolism, autophagy, regulation of cell death pathways etc. Hence, it is difficult to conclude whether the mitigation of poly(Q) neurotoxicity is an accumulative outcome of the insulin cascade, or the result of a specific sub-pathway. For the first time, we report that the ligand binding domain of insulin receptor mediated downstream growth promoting sub-pathway plays the pivotal role in operating the rescue event. We show that the growth promoting activity of insulin cascade is essential to minimize the abundance of inclusion bodies, to restrict neurodegeneration, and to restore the cellular transcriptional balance. Subsequently, we noted the involvement of the mTOR/S6k/4E-BP candidates in mitigating poly(Q) mediated neurotoxicity. Despite women reporting more negative affect, both genders had comparable suppression success. Moreover, differences emerged between men and women's FC patterns. During the regulation of negative emotion, better suppression in women was associated with stronger FC within a cingulo-opercular network, while men exhibited stronger FC within posterior regions of the ventral attentional network. We conclude that due to their propensity for higher emotional reactivity, women may employ a frontal top-down control network to downregulate negative emotion, while men may redirect attention away from the negative stimulus by using posterior regions of the ventral attention network.

A total of 87 countries have had evidence of autochthonous mosquito-borne transmission of ZIKV, distributed across four continents, and no antivirus therapy or vaccines are available. Therefore, several strategies have been developed to target the main mosquito vector, Aedes aegypti, to reduce the burden of different arboviruses. Among such strategies, the use of the maternally-inherited endosymbiont Wolbachia pipientis has been applied successfully to reduce virus susceptibility and decrease transmission. However, the mechanisms by which Wolbachia orchestrate resistance to ZIKV infection remain to be elucidated. In this study, we apply isobaric labeling quantitative mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics to quantify proteins and identify pathways altered during ZIKV infection; Wolbachia infection; co-infection with Wolbachia/ZIKV in the A. aegypti heads and salivary glands. We show that Wolbachia regulates proteins involved in reactive oxygen species production, regulates humoral immune response, and antioxidant production. The reduction of ZIKV polyprotein in the presence of Wolbachia in mosquitoes was determined by MS and corroborates the idea that Wolbachia helps to block ZIKV infections in A. aegypti. The present study offers a rich resource of data that may help to elucidate mechanisms by which Wolbachia orchestrate resistance to ZIKV infection in A. aegypti, and represents a step further on the development of new targeted methods to detect and quantify ZIKV and Wolbachia directly in complex tissues.Pace mapping is commonly used to locate the origin of ventricular arrhythmias, especially premature ventricular contraction (PVC). Inspired by these studies, we propose a novel model based on spatial and morphological domains. The purpose of this study is to assess this model and compare it with three existing models. The data are available from the Experimental Data and Geometric Analysis Repository database in which three in vivo PVC patients are included. To measure the hit rate (A hit occurs when the predicted site is within 15 mm of the target) of different algorithms, 47 target sites are tested. Moreover, to evaluate the efficiency of different models in narrowing down the target range, 54 targets are verified. As a result, the proposed algorithm achieves the most hits (37/47) and fewest misses (9/47), and it narrows down the target range most, from 27.62 ± 3.47 mm to 10.72 ± 9.58 mm among 54 target sites. It is expected to be applied in the real-time prediction of the origin of ventricular activation to guide the clinician toward the target site.
    Multiple algorithms based on 12-lead ECG measurements have been proposed to identify the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) and left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) locations from which ventricular tachycardia (VT) and frequent premature ventricular complex (PVC) originate. However, a clinical-grade machine learning algorithm that automatically analyzes characteristics of 12-lead ECGs and predicts RVOT or LVOT origins of VT and PVC is not currently available. The effective ablation sites of RVOT and LVOT, confirmed by a successful ablation procedure, provide evidence to create RVOT and LVOT labels for the machine learning model.

    We randomly sampled training, validation, and testing data sets from 420 patients who underwent successful catheter ablation (CA) to treat VT or PVC, containing 340 (81%), 38 (9%), and 42 (10%) patients, respectively. We iteratively trained a machine learning algorithm supplied with 1,600,800 features extracted
    our proprietary algorithm from 12-lead ECGs of the patients in the training cohort. The area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve was calculated from the internal validation data set to choose an optimal discretization cutoff threshold.

    The proposed approach attained the following performance accuracy (ACC) of 97.62 (87.44-99.99), weighted F1-score of 98.46 (90-100), AUC of 98.99 (96.89-100), sensitivity (SE) of 96.97 (82.54-99.89), and specificity (SP) of 100 (62.97-100).

A systematic review of the literature according to the PRISMA statement included (a) controlled trials, (b) WB-EMS trials with at least one exercise and one control group, (c) WB-EMS as primary physical intervention, (d) WB-EMS with at least six electrodes covering most muscle groups, (e) non-athletic cohorts. We searched eight electronic databases up to June 30, 2020, without language restrictions. Standardized mean differences (SMD) for muscle mass parameters, total body fat mass, maximum leg extension, and trunk extension strength were defined as outcome measures. In summary, 16 studies with 19 individual WB-EMS groups representing 897 participants were included. Studies vary considerably with respect to age, BMI, and physical conditions. Impulse protocols of the studies were roughly comparable, but training frequency (1-5 sessions/week) and intervention length (6-54 weeks) differed between the studies. SMD average was 1.23 (95%-CI 0.71-1.76) for muscle mass, 0.98 (0.74-1.22) for maximum leg, and 1.08 (0.78-1.39) for maximum trunk extension strength changes (all p less then 0.001). We iteratively trained a machine learning algorithm supplied with 1,600,800 features extracted our proprietary algorithm from 12-lead ECGs of the patients in the training cohort. The area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve was calculated from the internal validation data set to choose an optimal discretization cutoff threshold. The proposed approach attained the following performance accuracy (ACC) of 97.62 (87.44-99.99), weighted F1-score of 98.46 (90-100), AUC of 98.99 (96.89-100), sensitivity (SE) of 96.97 (82.54-99.89), and specificity (SP) of 100 (62.97-100). A systematic review of the literature according to the PRISMA statement included (a) controlled trials, (b) WB-EMS trials with at least one exercise and one control group, (c) WB-EMS as primary physical intervention, (d) WB-EMS with at least six electrodes covering most muscle groups, (e) non-athletic cohorts. We searched eight electronic databases up to June 30, 2020, without language restrictions. Standardized mean differences (SMD) for muscle mass parameters, total body fat mass, maximum leg extension, and trunk extension strength were defined as outcome measures. In summary, 16 studies with 19 individual WB-EMS groups representing 897 participants were included. Studies vary considerably with respect to age, BMI, and physical conditions. Impulse protocols of the studies were roughly comparable, but training frequency (1-5 sessions/week) and intervention length (6-54 weeks) differed between the studies. SMD average was 1.23 (95%-CI 0.71-1.76) for muscle mass, 0.98 (0.74-1.22) for maximum leg, and 1.08 (0.78-1.39) for maximum trunk extension strength changes (all p less then 0.001).
