Little is known about the quality of antimicrobial use in hospital outpatient clinics. We investigated the extent and appropriateness of antimicrobial prescriptions in the outpatient clinics of three hospitals. METHODS From June 2018 to January 2019, we performed ten point prevalence surveys in outpatient clinics of one university hospital and two large teaching hospitals. All prophylactic and therapeutic prescriptions were retrieved from the electronic medical records. Appropriateness was defined as being in accordance with guidelines. Furthermore, we investigated the extent to which the dose was adjusted to renal function and documentation of an antibiotic plan in the case notes. RESULTS We retrieved 720 prescriptions for antimicrobial drugs, of which 173 prescriptions (24%) were prophylactic. A guideline was present for 95% of prescriptions, of which the guideline non-adherence rate was 25.6% (n = 42/164) for prophylaxis and 43.1% (n = 224/520) for therapy. Of all inappropriate prescriptions (n = 266), inappropriate prescriptions for skin and soft tissue infections (n = 60/226) and amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (n = 67/266) made up the largest proportion. In only 13 of 138 patients with impaired or unknown renal function the dosage regimen was adjusted. Amoxicillin-clavulanic acid was the drug for which most often renal function was not taken into account. In 94.6% of prescriptions the antibiotic plan was documented. CONCLUSIONS In hospital outpatient clinics, a substantial part of therapeutics were inappropriately prescribed. METHODS As part of the Longitudinal European Autism Project, we performed functional magnetic resonance imaging at six European sites in a large, well-powered, and deeply phenotyped sample of individuals with ASD (N = 205) and typically developing (TD) individuals (N = 189) aged 6 to 30 years. We presented an animated shapes task to assess and comprehensively characterize social brain activation during mentalizing. We tested for effects of age, diagnosis, and their association with symptom measures, includingn function with other brain measures, such as connectivity and network-based approaches, using other paradigms, or applying complementary analysis approaches to assess individual differences in this heterogeneous condition.BACKGROUND Many studies have elegantly shown that murine and rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (bmMSCs) contribute to muscle regeneration and improve muscle function. METHODS Since xenogeneic-free growth supplements are increasingly being used in the expansion of bmMSCs in clinical trials, we investigated the effects of human plasma and platelet lysate (P/PL) on the expression of neuromuscular markers and whether P/PL-expanded human bmMSCs could be differentiated towards a skeletal myogenic phenotype. Neuromuscular markers were measured using the highly sensitive droplet digital polymerase chain reaction for measuring the expression of Myf5, MyoD, MyoG, ACTA1, Desmin, GAP-43, and Coronin 1b transcripts, by performing immunofluorescence for the expression of Desmin, GAP-43, and MEF2, and flow cytometry for the expression of CD56/neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM).

Sleep plays a critical role in children's growth and development. This study examined the frequency and persistence of children's sleep problems following a natural disaster, risk factors for children's sleep problems, and the bidirectional relationship between children's sleep problems and posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) over time.
This study assessed 269 children (53% female, M = 8.70 years, SD = 0.95) exposed to Hurricane Ike at 8 months (Time 1) and 15 months (Time 2) post-disaster. Children completed measures of hurricane exposure and related stressors, stressful life events, sleep problems, and PTSS.
Children's sleep problems were significantly correlated from Time 1 to Time 2 (r = .28, p < .001). Risk factors for sleep problems at Time 2 were younger age, sleep problems at Time 1, and PTSS, not including sleep items, at Time 1. Examinations of the bidirectional relationship between sleep problems and PTSS indicated that PTSS significantly predicted later sleep problems, but sleep problems did not significantly predict later PTSS.
Findings demonstrate that PTSS may contribute to the development and course of children's sleep problems post-disaster.

We recorded the firing activity of identified CL neurons during classical eyeblink conditioning in rabbits, using a delay paradigm in which a tone was presented as conditioned stimulus (CS), followed by a corneal air puff as unconditioned stimulus (US). Neurons were identified by their activation from motor (**), cingulate (CC), and medial prefrontal (mPFC) cortices. CL neurons were rarely activated by single stimuli of any modality. In contrast, their firing was significantly modulated during the first sessions of paired CS/US presentations, but not in well-trained animals. Neuron firing rates did not correlate with the kinematics of conditioned responses (CRs). CL local field potentials (LFPs) changed their spectral power across learning and presented well-differentiated CL-mPFC/CL-** network dynamics, as shown by crossfrequency spectral measurements. CL electrical stimulation did not evoke eyelid responses, even in trained animals. Silencing of synaptic transmission of CL neurons by the vINSIST method delayed the acquisition of CRs but did not affect their presentation rate. The CL plays an important role in the acquisition of associative learning, mostly in relation to the novelty of CS/US association, but not in the expression of CRs.The metabolic syndrome (MetS) comprises cardiometabolic risk factors frequently found in individuals with obesity. Guidelines to prevent or reverse MetS suggest limiting fat intake, however, lowering carbohydrate intake has gained attention too. The aim for this review was to determine to what extent either weight loss, reduction in caloric intake, or changes in macronutrient intake contribute to improvement in markers of MetS in persons with obesity without cardiometabolic disease. A meta-analysis was performed across a spectrum of studies applying low-carbohydrate (LC) and low-fat (LF) diets. PubMed searches yielded 17 articles describing 12 separate intervention studies assessing changes in MetS markers of persons with obesity assigned to LC ( less then 40% energy from carbohydrates) or LF ( less then 30% energy from fat) diets. Both diets could lead to weight loss and improve markers of MetS. Meta-regression revealed that weight loss most efficaciously reduced fasting glucose levels independent of macronutrient intake at the end of the study. Actual carbohydrate intake and actual fat intake at the end of the study, but not the percent changes in intake of these macronutrients, improved diastolic blood pressure and circulating triglyceride levels, without an effect of weight loss. The homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance improved with both diets, whereas high-density lipoprotein cholesterol only improved in the LC diet, both irrespective of aforementioned factors. Remarkably, changes in caloric intake did not play a primary role in altering MetS markers. Taken together, these data suggest that, beyond the general effects of the LC and LF diet categories to improve MetS markers, there are also specific roles for weight loss, LC and HF intake, but not reduced caloric intake, that improve markers of MetS irrespective of diet categorization. On the basis of the results from this meta-analysis, guidelines to prevent MetS may need to be re-evaluated.This study presents a detailed measurement of indoor and outdoor terrestrial gamma radiation levels in different cities of Pakistan. The measurements covered dwellings in 27 cities, covering all provinces and region of Azad Kashmir. Most of the houses were of attached type, made of brick walls and concrete roofs. The measurements were made by a handheld radiation survey meter containing Geiger-Muller tube. The average absorbed dose rate in air was 100 ± 32 nGy h-1 for indoor and 74 ± 30 nGy h-1 for outdoor. The population-weighted mean terrestrial dose rates were 90 nGy h-1 for indoor and 78 nGyh-1 for outdoor. The ratio of indoor to outdoor absorbed dose rate was 1.5 as compared to 1.3 for the world average. The estimated average annual effective dose rate was 0.58 ± 0.18 mSv a-1 and the mean excess life time cancer risk was 2.0 × 10-3.

Bone cement, consisting of polymethyl methacrylate, is a bioinert material used for prothesis fixation in joint arthroplasty. To treat orthopedic infections, such as periprosthetic joint infection, antibiotic-loaded bone cement (ALBC) was introduced into clinical practice. Recent studies have revealed the limitations of the antibacterial effect of ALBC. Moreover, with the increase in high infection risk patients and highly resistant microbes, more researches and modification of ALBC are required. This paper reviewed latest findings about ALBC for most popular and destructive pathogens, summarized the influence of antibiotic kind, drug dosage, application method, and environment towards characteristic of ALBC. Subsequently, new cement additives and clinical applications of ALBC in joint arthroplasty were also discussed.
Due to development of magnetic resonance-based functional imaging, it is easier to detect micro-structural alterations of tumor tissues. The aim of this study was to conduct a preliminary evaluation of the correlation of non-Gaussian diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) parameters with expression of molecular markers (epidermal growth factor receptor [EGFR]; anaplastic lymphoma kinase [ALK]; Ki-67 protein) in patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma, using routine diffusion-weighted imaging as the reference standard.
Data from patients with primary lung adenocarcinoma diagnosed at Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CHCAMS) from 2016 to 2019 were collected for retrospective analysis. The pathologic and magnetic resonance imaging data of 96 patients who met the inclusion criteria were included in this study. All subjects were studied on a 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging scanner. All patients had an LV ejection fraction (LVEF) <50% with LV dilation. LV end-diastolic volume (LVEDV), LVEDV index (LVEDVi), LVEF, the number and distribution of ischemic LGE segments, and ratios of volumetric and functional indices to ischemic LGE segments were determined. Logistic regression was used to detect the independent predictor of ICM. Receiver operating characteristic analysis differentiated NICM with incidental MI from ICM.
Of a total of 63 patients enrolled, 45 patients had ICM, and 18 patients had NICM with incidental MI. Both groups had similar LVEF. Compared with ICM, NICM with incidental MI had more LV dilation, whereas ICM had more ischemic LGE segments. A higher number of ischamic LGE segments remained an independent predictor of ICM (odds ratio 18.2, 95% confidence interval 1.64-201.34, P=0.018). Bone cement, consisting of polymethyl methacrylate, is a bioinert material used for prothesis fixation in joint arthroplasty. To treat orthopedic infections, such as periprosthetic joint infection, antibiotic-loaded bone cement (ALBC) was introduced into clinical practice. Recent studies have revealed the limitations of the antibacterial effect of ALBC. Moreover, with the increase in high infection risk patients and highly resistant microbes, more researches and modification of ALBC are required. Community economics and other social health determinants influence outcomes in oncologic patient populations. We sought to explore their impact on presentation, treatment, and survival in glioma patients.
A retrospective cohort of patients with glioma (World Health Organization grades III-IV) diagnosed between 1999 and 2017 was assembled with data abstracted from medical record review. Patient factors included race, primary care provider (PCP) identified, marital status, insurance status, and employment status. Median household income based on zip code was used to classify patients as residing in high-income communities (HICs; ie, above the median state income) or low-income communities (LICs; ie, below the median state income). The Kaplan-Meier method was used to assess overall survival (OS); Cox proportional hazards regression was used to explore associations with OS.
Included were 312 patients, 73% from LICs. Survivors residing in LICs and HICs did not differ by age, sex, race, tumor grade, having a PCP, employment status, insurance, time to presentation, or baseline performance status. Median OS was 4.1 months shorter for LIC patients (19.7 vs 15.6 mo; hazard ratio [HR], 0.75; 95% CI 0.56-0.98,
= 0.04); this difference persisted with 1-year survival of 66% for HICs versus 61% for LICs at 1 year, 34% versus 24% at 3 years, and 29% versus 17% at 5 years. Multivariable analysis controlling for age, grade, and chemotherapy treatment showed a 25% lower risk of death for HIC patients (HR, 0.75; 95% CI 0.57-0.99,

Children with high-grade CNS cancers frequently experience malnutrition during treatment. We assessed the effects of proactive enteral tube (ET) placement/enteral tube feedings (ETF) on weight in infants/children with high-grade CNS tumors treated with aggressive chemotherapy.
We conducted a retrospective study of patients age 0 to 19 years treated for new high-grade CNS tumors between 2002 and 2017 at a tertiary pediatric hospital system. Patients underwent placement of proactive ET (≤ 31 days postdiagnosis; n = 45), rescue ET (> 31 days, due to weight loss; n = 9), or no ET (n = 18). Most received surgically placed ET (98%), with percutaneous endoscopic gastrojejunostomy or gastrojejunostomy tubes favored to allow jejunal feeding. The majority of patients with ET used ETF (91%). Using mixed-effects regression models, we examined differences in mean weights between ET/ETF groups across the first year of treatment. We also evaluated observed weight changes.
All infants (n = 22, median age, 1.5 years) had proactive ET placed and 21 of 22 used proactive ETF. Infants showed an initial increase in mean percentage weight change that eventually leveled off, for an estimated increase of 10.4% over the year. For the pediatric cohort (n = 50, median, 8.1 years), those receiving proactive ETF experienced weight increases (+9.9%), those with rescue ETF experienced an initial decline and eventually rebounded for no net change (0.0%), and those with no ETF demonstrated an initial decline that persisted (-11.9%;

Radiation necrosis is a frequent complication occurring after the treatment of pediatric brain tumors; however, treatment options remain a challenge. Bevacizumab is an anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody that has been shown in small adult cohorts to confer a benefit, specifically a reduction in steroid usage, but its use in children has not been well described.
We describe our experience with bevacizumab use for symptomatic radiation necrosis at 5 institutions including patients treated after both initial irradiation and reirradiation.
We identified 26 patients treated with bevacizumab for symptomatic radiation necrosis, with a wide range of underlying diagnoses. The average age at diagnosis of radiation necrosis was 10.7 years, with a median time between the last dose of radiation and the presentation of radiation necrosis of 3.8 months (range, 0.6-110 months). Overall, we observed that 13 of 26 patients (50%) had an objective clinical improvement, with only 1 patient suffering from significant hypertension.

This study aimed to analyze the effect of creatine (Cr) supplementation on tumor microenvironment, evaluating the parameters of tumor aggressiveness.
Sixteen male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to 2 groups (n=8/group) Tumor-bearing (T) and tumor-bearing supplemented with Cr (TCr). The objective of the study was to investigate the levels, interrelationships, and associated factors of community integration (CI), perceived stigma (PS), and self-esteem in people living with epilepsy (PWE) in Anambra and Enugu States of south-east Nigeria.
This was a cross-sectional survey involving 70 consenting adults living with epilepsy consecutively recruited from three purposively sampled specialized clinics in Anambra State. The Reintegration to Normal Living Index, the Epilepsy Stigma Scale, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were used to estimate CI, PS, and self-esteem, respectively among the participants. Data were analyzed at 0.05 level of significance.
The mean age of the participants (28.6% females) was 34.91 ± 16.21 years. The participants had moderate PS score (43.54 ± 14.20), poor self-esteem score (17.63 ± 6.12), and mild-to-moderately restricted CI score (67.83 ± 24.72). Participants' PS, CI, and self-esteem significantly correlated with one another (p < 0.05) with PS and self-esteem being significant predictors of CI.
This study aimed to analyze the effect of creatine (Cr) supplementation on tumor microenvironment, evaluating the parameters of tumor aggressiveness. Sixteen male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to 2 groups (n=8/group) Tumor-bearing (T) and tumor-bearing supplemented with Cr (TCr). Cr supplementation did not accelerate tumor growth or increase tumor size. The rapid growth in biological sequence data is revolutionizing our understanding of genotypic diversity and challenging conventional approaches to informatics. Due to the increasing available genomic data, traditional bioinformatic tools require substantial computational time and the creation of ever-larger indices each time a researcher seeks to gain insight from the data. To address this, we pre-computed important relationships between biological entities spanning the Central Dogma of Molecular Biology and captured this information in a relational database. The database can be queried across hundreds of millions of entities and returns results in a fraction of the time required by traditional methods. We describe IBM Functional Genomics Platform, a comprehensive database relating genotype to phenotype for bacterial life. Continually updated, the platform contains data derived from 200,000 curated, self-consistently assembled genomes. The database stores functional data for over 68 million genes, 52 million proteins, and 239 million domains with associated biological activity annotations from Gene Ontology, KEGG, MetaCyc, and Reactome. It maps the connections between each biological entity including the originating genome, gene, protein, and protein domain. We describe the data selection, the pipeline to create and update, and the developer tools.Physical interactions within virtual environments are often limited to visual information within a restricted workspace. A new system exploiting a cable-driven parallel robot to combine visual and haptic information related to environmental physical constraints (e.g. shelving, object weight) was developed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact on user movement patterns of adding haptic feedback in a virtual environment with this robot. Twelve healthy participants executed a manual handling task under three conditions 1) in a virtual environment with haptic feedback; 2) in a virtual environment without haptic feedback; 3) in a real physical environment. Temporal parameters (movement time, peak velocity, movement smoothness, time to maximum flexion, time to peak wrist velocity) and spatial parameters of movement (maximum trunk flexion, range of motion of the trunk, length of the trajectory, index of curvature and maximum clearance from the shelf) were analysed during the reaching, lowering and lifting phases. Our results suggest that adding haptic feedback improves spatial parameters of movement to better respect the environmental constraints. However, the visual information presented in the virtual environment through the head mounted display appears to have an impact on temporal parameters of movement leading to greater movement time. This effect is independent of how the user is represented and only occurs when the user is also engaged in a secondary task. We further found improved motor performance and increased embodiment when interacting through virtual tools and hands in VR, compared to interacting with a keyboard. This study contributes to better understanding the detectability of visual content in VR, depending on its location in the virtual environment, as well as the impact of different user representations on information processing, embodiment, and motor performance.Early screening of PDAC (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma) based on plain CT (computed tomography) images is of great significance. Therefore, this work conducted a radiomics-aided diagnosis analysis of PDAC based on plain CT images. We explored a novel MSTA (multiresolution-statistical texture analysis) architecture to extract texture features and built machine learning models to classify PDACs and HPs (healthy pancreases). We also performed significance tests of differences to analyze the relationships between histopathological characteristics and texture features. The MSTA architecture originates from the analysis of histopathological characteristics and combines multiresolution analysis and statistical analysis to extract texture features. The MSTA architecture achieved better experimental results than the traditional architecture that scales the coefficient matrices of the multiresolution analysis. In the validation of the classifications, the MSTA architecture achieved an accuracy of 81.19% and an AUC (area under the ROC (receiver operating characteristic) curve) of 0.88 (95% confidence interval 0.84-0.92). In the test of the classifications, it achieved an accuracy of 77.66% and an AUC of 0.79 (95% confidence interval 0.71-0.87). Moreover, the significance tests of differences showed that the extracted texture features may be relevant to the histopathological characteristics. The MSTA architecture is beneficial for the radiomics-aided diagnosis of PDAC based on plain CT images. One-third of outpatient antibiotic prescriptions for pediatric acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs) are inappropriate. We evaluated a distance learning program's effectiveness for reducing outpatient antibiotic prescribing for ARTI visits.
In this stepped-wedge clinical trial run from November 2015 to June 2018, we randomly assigned 19 pediatric practices belonging to the Pediatric Research in Office Settings Network or the NorthShore University HealthSystem to 4 wedges. Visits for acute otitis media, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, and upper respiratory infection for children 6 months to <11 years old without recent antibiotic use were included. Clinicians received the intervention as 3 program modules containing online tutorials and webinars on evidence-based communication strategies and antibioti c prescribing, booster video vignettes, and individualized antibiotic prescribing feedback reports over 11 months. The primary outcome was overall antibiotic prescribing rates for all ARTI visits. Mixed-effects logistic regression compared prescribing rates during each program module and a postintervention period to a baseline control period. Odds ratios were converted to adjusted rate ratios (aRRs) for interpretability.
Among 72 723 ARTI visits by 29 762 patients, intention-to-treat analyses revealed a 7% decrease in the probability of antibiotic prescribing for ARTI overall between the baseline and postintervention periods (aRR 0.93; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.90-0.96). Second-line antibiotic prescribing decreased for streptococcal pharyngitis (aRR 0.66; 95% CI, 0.50-0.87) and sinusitis (aRR 0.59; 95% CI, 0.44-0.77) but not for acute otitis media (aRR 0.93; 95% CI, 0.83-1.03). Any antibiotic prescribing decreased for viral ARTIs (aRR 0.60; 95% CI, 0.51-0.70).

Little is known about the 2% of US children being raised by their grandparents. We sought to characterize and compare grandparent- and parent-headed households with respect to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), child temperament, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and caregiver aggravation and coping.
Using a combined data set of children ages 3 to 17 from the 2016, 2017, and 2018 National Survey of Children's Health, we applied survey regression procedures, adjusted for sociodemographic confounders, to compare grandparent- and parent-headed households on composite and single-item outcome measures of ACEs; ADHD; preschool inattention and restlessness; child temperament; and caregiver aggravation, coping, support, and interactions with children.
Among 80 646 households (2407 grandparent-headed, 78 239 parent-headed), children in grandparent-headed households experienced more ACEs (β = 1.22, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07 to 1.38). Preschool-aged and school-aged children in grandparent-headed households were more likely to have ADHD (adjusted odds ratio = 4.29, 95% CI 2.22 to 8.28; adjusted odds ratio = 1.72, 95% CI 1.34 to 2.20). School-aged children in these households had poorer temperament (β
= .25, 95% CI -0.63 to 1.14), and their caregivers experienced greater aggravation (β
= .29, 95% CI 0.08 to 0.49). However, these differences were not detected after excluding children with ADHD from the sample. No differences were noted between grandparent- and parent-headed households for caregiver coping, emotional support, or interactions with children.

Cases of meningitis related to ICIs are poorly described in literature and probably underestimated. Several guidelines are available for the acute management of these adverse events, but the safety of resuming ICIs in these patients remains unclear. We conducted a retrospective case series of immune-related meningitis associated with ICIs that occurred between October 1 2015 and October 31 2019 in two centers Saint-Louis and Cochin hospitals, Paris, France. Diagnosis was defined by a (1) high count of lymphocytes (>8 cells/mm3) and/or high level of proteins (>0.45 g/L) without bacteria/virus or tumor cells detection, in cerebrospinal fluid and (2) normal brain and spine imaging. Patients were followed-up for at least 6 months from the meningitis onset. In conclusion, in our series, the clinical course was favorable and steroids were not always required. Resuming ICIs in these patients appeared safe and can thus be considered in case of isolated meningitis. However, a careful analysis of the risk/benefit ratio should be done on a case-by-case basis.

One-third of outpatient antibiotic prescriptions for pediatric acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs) are inappropriate. We evaluated a distance learning program's effectiveness for reducing outpatient antibiotic prescribing for ARTI visits. In this stepped-wedge clinical trial run from November 2015 to June 2018, we randomly assigned 19 pediatric practices belonging to the Pediatric Research in Office Settings Network or the NorthShore University HealthSystem to 4 wedges. Visits for acute otitis media, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, and upper respiratory infection for children 6 months to <11 years old without recent antibiotic use were included. Clinicians received the intervention as 3 program modules containing online tutorials and webinars on evidence-based communication strategies and antibioti c prescribing, booster video vignettes, and individualized antibiotic prescribing feedback reports over 11 months. The primary outcome was overall antibiotic prescribing rates for all ARTI visits. Mixed-effects logistic regression compared prescribing rates during each program module and a postintervention period to a baseline control period. Odds ratios were converted to adjusted rate ratios (aRRs) for interpretability. Using a combined data set of children ages 3 to 17 from the 2016, 2017, and 2018 National Survey of Children's Health, we applied survey regression procedures, adjusted for sociodemographic confounders, to compare grandparent- and parent-headed households on composite and single-item outcome measures of ACEs; ADHD; preschool inattention and restlessness; child temperament; and caregiver aggravation, coping, support, and interactions with children. Among 80 646 households (2407 grandparent-headed, 78 239 parent-headed), children in grandparent-headed households experienced more ACEs (β = 1.22, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07 to 1.38). Retrospective information from July 2013 to June 2014 was collected. A descriptive analysis was performed and results were inferred into the national dairy cattle population. Several of the identified management practices that affect calf welfare in the prepartum and calf-rearing periods could explain the high mortality risk. Socioeconomic factors including race, ethnicity, and poverty level have been associated with disparities in survival among adult patients with acute leukemia. Insurance status is also likely to affect survival outcomes in these patients but has not been well studied. We investigated the impact of insurance status at time of diagnosis on survival in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Adult patients diagnosed with B-lineage ALL between January 1, 2007 and October 31, 2017 were included, with follow-up through January 19, 2018. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to estimate overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) for the 2 groups. Cox proportional hazard regression methods were used for univariate and multivariate analyses.
A total of 136 patients were included in the study, 29 without insurance and 107 with insurance at time of diagnosis. Patients without insurance were younger and more likely to be Hispanic or Latino compared with insured patients. When controlling for confounding variables, patients without insurance had worse PFS. There was no statistically significant difference in OS between the 2 groups. Hispanic or Latino ethnicity was associated with improved PFS and OS in multivariate analyses.

The absence of oocyte degeneration after microinjection and the viability of correct embryo development were also evaluated. The pipette comprises a suction conduit inside an elongated cylindrical body and a funnel-shaped working end, which is dimensioned to hold the oocyte in a tight-fitting manner. Upon aspirating via the suction conduit, the oocyte remains partially trapped inside the funnel and becomes deformed changing the spherical shape of its resting state to an oval shape that tensions the surface and increases the turgor. In all ICSI procedures using the new PiWA, the oocyte membrane presented some resistance but was easily broken when exerting some pressure or small aspiration.

In this study, a sample set containing semen with sperm, semen without sperm, buccal swabs, saliva (oral fluids), venous blood, menstrual blood, vaginal secretions, and sweat/skin samples were used to develop four assays. Two methods for the analysis of DNA methylation biomarkers were developed in this paper pyrosequencing and quantitative PCR/high resolution melt (HRM) analysis. Using an epigenome wide association study, two markers, NMUR2 and UBE2U, were found to be specific for sperm, based on the fact that mean DNA methylation levels for semen (containing sperm cells) were significantly lower than mean DNA methylation levels of other body fluids. In addition, one marker (SA-6) was hypermethylated in saliva when compared to other body fluids. The assays developed for NMUR2, UBE2U and SA-6 markers can be applied in forensic tissue identification using both pyrosequencing and HRM analysis. Additionally, a set of CpG sites in the AHRR locus were hypomethylated in blood when compared to other tissues using pyrosequencing. However, this locus was not amenable to HRM analysis. When we subcloned mRFP1E in the same way as our CP genes, it produced a similarly dark color, yet affected E. coli fitness minimally. This finding facilitated testing of several hypotheses on the cause of CP cytotoxicities by gel electrophoresis and size-exclusion chromatography toxicities correlated with the combination of amounts of expression, oligomerization and inclusion bodies, not isoelectric point. Finally, a semi-rational mutagenesis strategy created several mRFP1 protein variants with different colors without altering the fitness cost. Thus, these mutants and mRFP1E are suitable for comparative fitness costs between different strains of E. coli. Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) can adversely affect the patient's sexual function.
To evaluate the sexual functions in women who underwent transobturator tape (TOT) surgery because of stress urinary incontinence and factors affecting the treatment results.
The study was conducted in 2 tertiary level clinics between 2013 and 2019 and included sexually active patients with a diagnosis of SUI who underwent TOT operation. The preoperative and postoperative (6months after surgery) Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire short form (PISQ-12) scores of the patients were evaluated. The patients were evaluated according to the score changes of an increased score (benefited) and the same or lower score (did not benefit). The PISQ-12 questionnaire has 3 subdomains of behavioral-emotive (Q 1-4), physical (Q 5-9), and partner-related (Q 10-12).
