Blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption is commonly measured with DCE-MRI using continuous dynamic scanning. For precise measurement of subtle BBB leakage, a long acquisition time (>20 minutes) is required. As extravasation of the contrast agent is slow, discrete sampling at strategic time points might be beneficial, and gains scan time for additional sequences. Here, we aimed to explore the feasibility of a sparsely sampled MRI protocol at 7 T.

In situ electron microscopy experiments reveal the effect of the ratio between the in-plane cut size and film thickness on out-of-plane configurations. Moreover, geometrically nonlinear finite element analyses (FEA) accurately predict the out-of-plane modes measured experimentally, their transition as a function of cut geometry, and provide the stress-strain response of the kirigami structures. The combined computational-experimental approach and results reported here represent a step forward in the characterization of thin films experiencing buckling-induced out-of-plane shape transformations and provide a path to control 3D configurations of micro- and nanoscale buckling-induced kirigami structures. The out-of-plane configurations promise great utility in the creation of micro- and nanoscale systems that can harness such structural behavior, such as optical scanning micromirrors, novel actuators, and nanorobotics. This work is of particular significance as the kirigami dimensions approach the sub-micrometer scale which is challenging to achieve with conventional micro-electromechanical system technologies.

The levels of hemoglobin adducts of acrylamide (AA-Hb), a biomarker of acrylamide exposure, have not been reported for Japanese subjects. Herein, we determined the AA-Hb levels in a Japanese population and compared them with the estimated dietary intake from the duplicate diet method (DM) and a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). One-day DM samples, FFQ, and blood samples were collected from 89 participants and analyzed for acrylamide. AA-Hb was analyzed using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and the N-alkyl Edman method. Participants were divided into tertiles of estimated acrylamide intake and geometric means (GMs) of AA-Hb adjusted for sex and smoking status. A stratified analysis according to smoking status was also performed. The average AA-Hb levels for all participants, never, past, and current smokers were 46, 38, 65, and 86 pmol/g Hb, respectively. GMs of AA-Hb levels in all participants were significantly associated with tertiles of estimated acrylamide intake from DM (p for trend = 0.02) and FFQ (p for trend = 0.04), although no association with smokers was observed. AA-Hb levels reflected smoking status, which were similar to values reported in Western populations, and they were associated with estimated dietary intake of acrylamide when adjusted for sex and smoking status.Malaria occurrence in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh varies by season and year, but this pattern is not well characterized. The role of environmental conditions on the occurrence of this vector-borne parasitic disease in the region is not fully understood. We extracted information on malaria patients recorded in the Upazila (sub-district) Health Complex patient registers of Rajasthali in Rangamati district of Bangladesh from February 2000 to November 2009. Weather data for the study area and period were obtained from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. Non-linear and delayed effects of meteorological drivers, including temperature, relative humidity, and rainfall on the incidence of malaria, were investigated. We observed significant positive association between temperature and rainfall and malaria occurrence, revealing two peaks at 19 °C (logarithms of relative risks (logRR) = 4.3, 95% CI 1.1-7.5) and 24.5 °C (logRR = 4.7, 95% CI 1.8-7.6) for temperature and at 86 mm (logRR = 19.5, 95% CI 11.7-27.3) and 284 mm (logRR = 17.6, 95% CI 9.9-25.2) for rainfall. In sub-group analysis, women were at a **** higher risk of developing malaria at increased temperatures. People over 50 years and children under 15 years were more susceptible to malaria at increased rainfall. The observed associations have policy implications. Further research is needed to expand these findings and direct resources to the vulnerable populations for malaria prevention and control in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh and the region with similar settings.
The assessment of ovarian reserve in the case of endometrioma is of pivotal importance for planning a tailored management. However, both the antral follicle count (AFC) and the antimüllerian hormone (AMH) dosage are subject to a fair degree of variability in ovarian endometriosis. This study aimed to identify a sonographic parameter of ovarian reserve that could implement current available markers in patients with unilateral endometrioma.
Patients with unilateral endometrioma admitted to our Endometriosis Center between March 2018 and April 2019 were enrolled. Transvaginal ultrasonography for the evaluation of eight sonographic indicators and AMH level determination were performed. The relationship between AMH level and each indicator was assessed.

During food processing, such as heating, sterols, like unsaturated fatty acids, can be oxidized. Protein modification by secondary products of lipid peroxidation has recently been demonstrated in food through a process called lipation. Similarly, this study was performed to assess, for the first time, the possibility of reactions between food proteins and sterol oxidation products in conditions relevant for food processing. Therefore, reaction models consisting of oxysterol (cholesterol 5α,6α-epoxide) and reactive amino acids (arginine, lysine, and methionine) were incubated in various conditions of concentration (0-8 mM), time (0-120 min), and temperature (30-180 °C). The identification of lysine adducts through thin-layer chromatography (TLC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a diode array detector (DAD), and electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry (MS) evidenced a reaction with lysine. Moreover, the HPLC-ESI with tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) analyses allowed observation of the compound, whose mass to charge ratio m/z 710.5 and fragmentation patterns corresponded to the reaction product [M + H]+ between cholesterol-5α,6α-epoxide and the ε-amino-group of Nα-benzoylglycyl-l-lysine. Moreover, kinetic studies between Nα-benzoylglycyl-l-lysine as a model for protein-bound lysine and cholesterol 5α,6α-epoxide were performed, showing that the formation of lysine adducts strongly increases with time, temperature, and oxysterol level. This preliminary study suggests that in conditions commonly reached during food processing, sterol oxidation products could react covalently with protein-bound lysine, causing protein modifications.

Prior knowledge has been shown to facilitate the incorporation of visual stimuli into awareness. We adopted an individual differences approach to explore whether a tendency to 'see the expected' is general or method-specific. We administered a binocular rivalry task and manipulated selective attention, as well as induced expectations via predictive context, self-generated imagery, expectancy cues, and perceptual priming. Most prior manipulations led to a facilitated awareness of the biased percept in binocular rivalry, whereas strong signal primes led to a suppressed awareness, i.e., adaptation. Correlations and factor analysis revealed that the facilitatory effect of priors on visual awareness is closely related to attentional control. We also investigated whether expectation-based biases predict perceptual abilities. Adaptation to strong primes predicted improved naturalistic change detection and the facilitatory effect of weak primes predicted the experience of perceptual anomalies. However, information regarding the assembly and structure of orthologous pheromone modules, as well as the mechanisms of signalling and their biological significance is limited, specifically in filamentous fungal species. Recent studies have provided insight on the utilization of the pheromone module as a central signalling hub for the co-ordinated regulation of fungal development and secondary metabolite production. Various proteins of this pathway are also known to regulate reproduction and virulence in a range of plant pathogenic fungi. Prior knowledge has been shown to facilitate the incorporation of visual stimuli into awareness. We adopted an individual differences approach to explore whether a tendency to 'see the expected' is general or method-specific. We administered a binocular rivalry task and manipulated selective attention, as well as induced expectations via predictive context, self-generated imagery, expectancy cues, and perceptual priming. Most prior manipulations led to a facilitated awareness of the biased percept in binocular rivalry, whereas strong signal primes led to a suppressed awareness, i.e., adaptation. Correlations and factor analysis revealed that the facilitatory effect of priors on visual awareness is closely related to attentional control. We also investigated whether expectation-based biases predict perceptual abilities. Adaptation to strong primes predicted improved naturalistic change detection and the facilitatory effect of weak primes predicted the experience of perceptual anomalies. A pentameric MAPK pathway known as the Fus3 pheromone module was initially characterised in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and was shown to regulate cell fusion and sexual development. Individual orthologous pheromone module genes have since been found to be highly conserved in fungal genomes and have been shown to regulate a diverse array of cellular responses, such as cell growth, asexual and sexual development, secondary metabolite production and pathogenicity. However, information regarding the assembly and structure of orthologous pheromone modules, as well as the mechanisms of signalling and their biological significance is limited, specifically in filamentous fungal species. Recent studies have provided insight on the utilization of the pheromone module as a central signalling hub for the co-ordinated regulation of fungal development and secondary metabolite production. Various proteins of this pathway are also known to regulate reproduction and virulence in a range of plant pathogenic fungi. We have previously shown that the highly prevalent acute myeloid leukemia (AML) mutation, Arg882His, in DNMT3A disrupts its cooperative mechanism and leads to reduced enzymatic activity, thus explaining the genomic hypomethylation in AML cells. However, the underlying cause of the oncogenic effect of Arg882His in DNMT3A is not fully understood. Here, we discovered that DNMT3A WT enzyme under conditions that favor non-cooperative kinetic mechanism as well as DNMT3A Arg882His variant acquire CpG flanking sequence preference akin to that of DNMT3B, which is non-cooperative. We tested if DNMT3A Arg882His could preferably methylate DNMT3B-specific target sites in vivo. Rescue experiments in Dnmt3a/3b double knockout mouse embryonic stem cells show that the corresponding Arg878His mutation in mouse DNMT3A severely impairs its ability to methylate major satellite DNA, a DNMT3A-preferred target, but has no overt effect on the ability to methylate minor satellite DNA, a DNMT3B-preferred target. We also observed a previously unappreciated CpG flanking sequence bias in major and minor satellite repeats that is consistent with DNMT3A and DNMT3B specificity suggesting that DNA methylation patterns are guided by the sequence preference of these enzymes. CLINICAL PRESENTATION A 61-yr-old male presented with intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) primarily in the posterior fossa. He was found to have a dissecting left SCA perforator aneurysm lying on the floor of the fourth ventricle. The aneurysm was not amenable to endovascular treatment, and antifibrinolytic therapy failed to spontaneously thrombose the aneurysm. We performed a suboccipital craniotomy and used a supracerebellar transvermian approach to resect the aneurysm. There was total obliteration of the aneurysm on postoperative cerebral angiogram. CONCLUSION SCA perforator aneurysms represent an extremely uncommon subset of intracranial aneurysms. The best therapeutic strategy has yet to be definitively proven. When pursuing surgical treatment, the supracerebellar transvermian navigated approach can be a useful and safe option, as described and illustrated in this video. A novel Global Exposure Mortality Model (GEMM) has been derived from many cohort studies, providing ****-improved coverage of the exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5). We applied the GEMM to assess excess mortality attributable to ambient air pollution on a global scale and compare to other risk factors. METHODS AND RESULTS We used a data-informed atmospheric model to calculate worldwide exposure to PM2.5 and ozone pollution, which was combined with the GEMM to estimate disease-specific excess mortality and loss of life expectancy (LLE) in 2015. Using this model, we investigated the effects of different pollution sources, distinguishing between natural (wildfires, aeolian dust) and anthropogenic emissions, including fossil fuel use. Global excess mortality from all ambient air pollution is estimated at 8.8 (7.11-10.41) million/year, with an LLE of 2.9 (2.3-3.5) years, being a factor of two higher than earlier estimates, and exceeding that of tobacco smoking. The global mean mortality rate of about 120 per 100 000 people/year is **** exceeded in East Asia (196 per 100 000/year) and Europe (133 per 100 000/year). Without fossil fuel emissions, the global mean life expectancy would increase by 1.1 (0.9-1.2) years and 1.7 (1.4-2.0) years by removing all potentially controllable anthropogenic emissions. Because aeolian dust and wildfire emission control is impracticable, significant LLE is unavoidable. CONCLUSION Ambient air pollution is one of the main global health risks, causing significant excess mortality and LLE, especially through cardiovascular diseases. It causes an LLE that rivals that of tobacco smoking. Rifampicin resistance is determined based on any mutation in the 81 bp of rpoB gene using five overlapping probes represented as Probe A (codons 507-511), Probe B (codons 512-518), Probe C (codons 518-523), Probe D (codons 523-529) and Probe E (codons 529-533). In this review, we assessed the frequency of missed probe types for Rifampicin Resistance results. METHODS Data were reviewed from specimens received and tested using Xpert® MTB/RIF assay at Ethiopian National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory, in Addis Ababa from 15 July 2016 to 31 December 2018 retrospectively. All archived data were reviewed carefully to describe missed probe types and the quantity of DNA in the sample. RESULTS A total of 100 specimens were reported as MTB Detected Rifampicin Resistance Detected by Xpert® MTB/RIF assay. More than half (55%) of these results were reported from male patients. The median age was 28.0 years (5 months to 88 years). Majorities (62%) of the cases were detected from sputum. Among the total of 38 extrapulmonary samples, lymph node aspirates were accounted for 50% (19/38). The most common mutations (81.0%) were found in the Probe E region followed by Probe D (10.0%), and Probe B (3.0%). Mutations in Probe A and Probe C regions were not observed. However, six (6.0%) Rifampicin resistance cases were found without any missed probe type. The delta Ct max is ≥4.3. No specimen yielded Rifampicin resistance associated with more than one probe failure or mutation combinations. CONCLUSION Mutations associated with Probe E (codons 529-533) region were identified as the commonest rpoB gene mutations. Infant feeding practices, including suboptimal breastfeeding practices, are associated with stunting. Rate of stunting was highest in the Mid-western region and lowest in the Eastern region of Nepal. This study aimed to assess the breastfeeding practices in these two regions, as well as to identify factors associated with partial breastfeeding. METHODS We conducted a health facility-based cross-sectional study in the Mid-western and Eastern regions of Nepal from December 2017 to May 2018. Investigators administered a pre-tested questionnaire among consecutive 574 mother-infant dyads at different levels of health facilities. We dichotomized the breastfeeding pattern to partial breastfeeding and full (exclusive or predominant) breastfeeding. We conducted multivariable logistic regression to identify factors associated with partial breastfeeding within 6 months breastfed at 6 months of age in Nepal. The rate of partial breastfeeding was higher with inadequate knowledge on duration of exclusive breastfeeding or late initiation of breastfeeding or perceived breastfeeding problems. Hence, programs should address knowledge and practice gaps in breastfeeding practices, particularly among mothers of low birth weight and firstborn infants.BACKGROUND Cancer-related thrombotic microangiopathy (CR-TMA) is a rare entity associated with a dismal prognosis. Usually, CR-TMA is associated with mucin-producing carcinomas among which stomach, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas tumours are the most frequent. CASES PRESENTATION We describe for the first time three cases of CR-TMA due to adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). All of them had mechanical hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia without any other identifiable cause. Bicytopenia was diagnosed either simultaneously with ACC or at the time of metastatic evolution. Two patients had acute kidney injury (AKI) with severe pathological findings on kidney biopsy. Despite total adrenalectomy, chemotherapy, and specific treatment of TMA with plasma-exchanges, renal failure and hemolytic anemia remained. The only manifestation of CR-TMA in the third patient was hemolytic anemia, which resolved after surgical removal of ACC. The evolutions in these patients suggests ACC-related TMA may be related to a circulating factor. CONCLUSIONS CR-TMAs are rare. Here we describe the first case series of ACC-related TMA, among which two had renal involvement. This entity is associated with dismal renal prognosis despite specific treatment of TMA. According to patients' evolution, the persistence of TMA may reflect an uncontrolled malignancy.BACKGROUND While many risk factors for preeclampsia, such as increased body mass index, advanced maternal age, chronic hypertension, diabetes, are now established in clinical practice, maternal lipid profile has not been included in the risk assessment for preeclampsia. We aim to characterize the serum levels of Total Cholesterol (TC), High density lipoprotein (HDL), Low density lipoprotein (LDL), Triglycerides (TG), Apolipoprotein A1, Apolipoprotein B and their ratios TC/HDL and ApoB/ApoA1 in the maternal and fetal circulations of normal pregnancy, preeclampsia (PE), fetal growth restriction (FGR) and PE + FGR. METHODS A prospective cross-sectional case control study was conducted measuring maternal and fetal lipid levels by enzymatic analysis and immune-turbidimetric enzymatic assays. FGR was defined by elevated umbilical artery Doppler resistance in association with estimated fetal weight less then 10%. Kruskal Wallis non-parametric analysis of variance was used to test for homogeneity across the clinical groups for each of the variables, Mann-Whitney tests for pairwise comparisons and Spearman rank correlation were used to quantify gestational age-related changes. RESULTS (1) TG levels were elevated in maternal PE and cord blood PE + FGR groups compared to normal pregnancies. (2) A statistically significant elevation of fetal ApoB levels was observed in PE, FGR and PE + FGR compared to normal pregnancies. Apolipoprotein levels A1 and B were not different between maternal groups. (3) TC, HDL, LDL and TC/HDL levels did not show any significant gestational variation or between clinical groups in the maternal or fetal circulation. CONCLUSIONS Elevation in maternal TG levels may have a role in the pathogenesis of PE. The implications of elevated maternal and fetal TG levels and elevated fetal Apolipoprotein B levels deserves further exploration of their role in long term cardiovascular risk in the mother as well as the offspring.

METHODS Data were reviewed from specimens received and tested using Xpert® MTB/RIF assay at Ethiopian National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory, in Addis Ababa from 15 July 2016 to 31 December 2018 retrospectively. All archived data were reviewed carefully to describe missed probe types and the quantity of DNA in the sample. RESULTS A total of 100 specimens were reported as MTB Detected Rifampicin Resistance Detected by Xpert® MTB/RIF assay. More than half (55%) of these results were reported from male patients. The median age was 28.0 years (5 months to 88 years). Majorities (62%) of the cases were detected from sputum. Among the total of 38 extrapulmonary samples, lymph node aspirates were accounted for 50% (19/38). The most common mutations (81.0%) were found in the Probe E region followed by Probe D (10.0%), and Probe B (3.0%). Mutations in Probe A and Probe C regions were not observed. However, six (6.0%) Rifampicin resistance cases were found without any missed probe type. The delta Ct max is ≥4.3. No specimen yielded Rifampicin resistance associated with more than one probe failure or mutation combinations. CONCLUSION Mutations associated with Probe E (codons 529-533) region were identified as the commonest rpoB gene mutations. Infant feeding practices, including suboptimal breastfeeding practices, are associated with stunting. Rate of stunting was highest in the Mid-western region and lowest in the Eastern region of Nepal. This study aimed to assess the breastfeeding practices in these two regions, as well as to identify factors associated with partial breastfeeding. METHODS We conducted a health facility-based cross-sectional study in the Mid-western and Eastern regions of Nepal from December 2017 to May 2018. Investigators administered a pre-tested questionnaire among consecutive 574 mother-infant dyads at different levels of health facilities. We dichotomized the breastfeeding pattern to partial breastfeeding and full (exclusive or predominant) breastfeeding. We conducted multivariable logistic regression to identify factors associated with partial breastfeeding within 6 months breastfed at 6 months of age in Nepal. The rate of partial breastfeeding was higher with inadequate knowledge on duration of exclusive breastfeeding or late initiation of breastfeeding or perceived breastfeeding problems. Hence, programs should address knowledge and practice gaps in breastfeeding practices, particularly among mothers of low birth weight and firstborn infants.BACKGROUND Cancer-related thrombotic microangiopathy (CR-TMA) is a rare entity associated with a dismal prognosis. Usually, CR-TMA is associated with mucin-producing carcinomas among which stomach, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas tumours are the most frequent. CASES PRESENTATION We describe for the first time three cases of CR-TMA due to adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). All of them had mechanical hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia without any other identifiable cause. Bicytopenia was diagnosed either simultaneously with ACC or at the time of metastatic evolution. Two patients had acute kidney injury (AKI) with severe pathological findings on kidney biopsy. Despite total adrenalectomy, chemotherapy, and specific treatment of TMA with plasma-exchanges, renal failure and hemolytic anemia remained. The only manifestation of CR-TMA in the third patient was hemolytic anemia, which resolved after surgical removal of ACC. The evolutions in these patients suggests ACC-related TMA may be related to a circulating factor. CONCLUSIONS CR-TMAs are rare. Here we describe the first case series of ACC-related TMA, among which two had renal involvement. This entity is associated with dismal renal prognosis despite specific treatment of TMA. METHODS A prospective cross-sectional case control study was conducted measuring maternal and fetal lipid levels by enzymatic analysis and immune-turbidimetric enzymatic assays. FGR was defined by elevated umbilical artery Doppler resistance in association with estimated fetal weight less then 10%. Kruskal Wallis non-parametric analysis of variance was used to test for homogeneity across the clinical groups for each of the variables, Mann-Whitney tests for pairwise comparisons and Spearman rank correlation were used to quantify gestational age-related changes. RESULTS (1) TG levels were elevated in maternal PE and cord blood PE + FGR groups compared to normal pregnancies. (2) A statistically significant elevation of fetal ApoB levels was observed in PE, FGR and PE + FGR compared to normal pregnancies. Apolipoprotein levels A1 and B were not different between maternal groups. (3) TC, HDL, LDL and TC/HDL levels did not show any significant gestational variation or between clinical groups in the maternal or fetal circulation. CONCLUSIONS Elevation in maternal TG levels may have a role in the pathogenesis of PE. Surgery of pheochromocytomas (PCs) still carries a high risk of haemodynamic complications during the perioperative period. We aimed to evaluate the influence of their secretory phenotype and preoperative alpha-blocker treatment on surgical outcome.
A retrospective monocentric study at a tertiary medical centre.
In this study, 80 consecutive patients operated by the same team for a PC between 1988 and 2018.
Diagnosis was based on typical symptoms and signs in 58 patients, genetic testing in 12 and work-up of an adrenal incidentaloma in 9. It was made during surgery in one patient. A genetic predisposition was found in one-third of index cases (21/62). The majority of the patients (73/79) had a secreting PC; more than 2/3 had an adrenergic phenotype and less than 1/3 a noradrenergic phenotype. The rate of perioperative haemodynamic complications was not influenced by the secretory phenotype, but persistent hypertension after surgery, recurrence and malignancy were more frequently observed in patients with a noradrenergic tumour. Preoperative alpha-blocker treatment was given for ≥ 14 days in 29 patients and, although being more symptomatic at diagnosis, these patients had less haemodynamic complications (3/29 vs 12/51 non-treated patients, P = 0.05).
The occurrence of haemodynamic complications during surgery was not significantly affected by the secretory phenotype in our study, but noradrenergic tumours show a worse post-surgical outcome. Our data also provide additional support in favour of a sufficient preoperative alpha-blockade in patients with pheochromocytoma.

The macimorelin test is approved for the diagnosis of adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD) based on its efficacy vs the insulin tolerance test (ITT). Healthcare professionals are socialized into a tacit, professional identity of competences and skills - to save lives, repair trauma and facilitate good and trustful relational care. When severe adverse events happen, healthcare professionals may struggle to accept their own fallibility, and the event may pose a threat to the selfdeclared 'superior' or 'infallible' professional identity. The consequences of a sudden identity shift between the 'potentially infallible HCP' and 'potentially fallible HC P' caused by an adverse event is the analytical object of this study. The aim of the paper is to derive new understandings of how HCPs in maternity services experience adverse events by using Arnold van Gennep's and Victor Turner's 'rites of passage' theorizations and the concept of liminality to explain the process of transition between the two professional identities. Through five focus groups conducted in June 2018 with midwives and obstetricians-gynecologists, we have examined i) how second victim experiences can be understood using theories of transition and liminality, and ii) how the organizational procedures in a Danish university hospital may serve as a ritual for the involved HCPs in the aftermath of adverse events. The findings suggest that the inconsistency in the level of support contributes to the chaos that may be experienced by the healthcare professional. The organizational structure does not provide rites of transition or any other ritual processes, except for debriefings that, in many cases, are experienced as deficient. Since liminal states suggest danger and threat, because the previous professional identity is replaced by ambiguity and separation, the lack of clear rituals and support may put further strain on the HCP adding to the associated psychological and social distress. Considering the liminality and the need for structured transition rites within the work environment may prove useful when constructing adequate second victim support programs.

Immunity to rubella is usually determined by measuring the rubella virus-specific immunoglobulin G (RV-IgG). In case of seroconversion for RV-IgG and/or positive RVIgM during pregnancy, laboratories usually send serum samples to the French National Reference Laboratory (FNRL) for Rubella in order to perform complementary investigations and confirm or exclude rubella infection during pregnancy.

The increased global incidence of hepatitis E virus (HEV) infections, warrants accurate and affordable diagnostics across different geographical regions. The soluble and highly conserved HEV open reading frame 2 (ORF2) capsid antigen (HEV-Ag) is detectable in self-limited acute enteric hepatitis by HEV-Ag ELISA which is a promising serological assay in settings where HEV-RNA testing is not feasible. Our aim was to assess the HEV-Ag biomarker in an HEV outbreak in a low income country.
A prospective single center longitudinal study during HEV outbreaks in the Chittagong, Bangladesh region between October 2018 and October 2019 was conducted based on recruitment of acute jaundice cases with clinical signs and symptoms of suspect HEV infections. Acute HEV infection was defined as a positive test result for anti-HEV IgM antibodies.
Forty four of the 51 enrolled enteric hepatitis cases (86 %) were confirmed HEV by anti-HEV IgM ELISA at day 0 hospital entry. The anti-HEV-IgM and IgG were positive in all patients and did not reveal significant differences; neither between the time points day 0 and follow-up hospitalization on day 2-6 or day 7-10 nor between RNA-positive (n = 36) versus RNAnegative (n = 8) HEV groups. The HEV-Ag positivity was higher in viral RNA-positive (29/36, 81 %) than the viral RNA-negative (1/8, 12 %) group, p < 0.001 and the HEV-Ag levels positively correlated with viremia, r = 0.77, p < 0.0001. All non-HEV cases; n = 7 tested negative anti-HEV IgM and HEV-Ag and 5 of 7 (71 %) tested anti-HAV IgM positive.

However, previous work has primarily focused on childhood, and differences in memory retrieval, notably in recollection, between adolescents and adults, have been hard to confirm. To address this gap in the literature and to better characterize the development of recollection and familiarity during adolescence, we applied the process dissociation procedure to a word recognition memory task, after semantic and perceptual encoding of words, in adolescents (n = 30, 13-15 years of age) and young adults (n = 30, 20-22 years). Relative to young adults, adolescents' lower recognition memory performance was restricted to context recollection of semantically encoded items. This effect was predicted by individual differences in inhibitory control abilities. These findings highlight the distinct developmental trajectories of familiarity and context recollection over the course of adolescence, and suggest that semantic elaboration and inhibition are two key mechanisms toward the full maturation of recollection processes.Most of lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) devices rely on gold nanoparticles (GNP) labeled antibodies or other biospecific proteins, to achieve reagent-less color-based detection. To assist the synthesis and production process of GNP and their protein conjugates, we use for the first time a non-destructive, particle separation-multi-detection approach based on miniaturized flow field flow fractionation (HF5). A separation method was developed to baseline size-separate GNP, GNP-protein, protein and GNP including BSA used as a surface coater in less than 30 minutes. The soluble and highly conserved HEV open reading frame 2 (ORF2) capsid antigen (HEV-Ag) is detectable in self-limited acute enteric hepatitis by HEV-Ag ELISA which is a promising serological assay in settings where HEV-RNA testing is not feasible. Our aim was to assess the HEV-Ag biomarker in an HEV outbreak in a low income country. A prospective single center longitudinal study during HEV outbreaks in the Chittagong, Bangladesh region between October 2018 and October 2019 was conducted based on recruitment of acute jaundice cases with clinical signs and symptoms of suspect HEV infections. Acute HEV infection was defined as a positive test result for anti-HEV IgM antibodies. Forty four of the 51 enrolled enteric hepatitis cases (86 %) were confirmed HEV by anti-HEV IgM ELISA at day 0 hospital entry. The anti-HEV-IgM and IgG were positive in all patients and did not reveal significant differences; neither between the time points day 0 and follow-up hospitalization on day 2-6 or day 7-10 nor between RNA-positive (n = 36) versus RNAnegative (n = 8) HEV groups. The HEV-Ag positivity was higher in viral RNA-positive (29/36, 81 %) than the viral RNA-negative (1/8, 12 %) group, p < 0.001 and the HEV-Ag levels positively correlated with viremia, r = 0.77, p < 0.0001. All non-HEV cases; n = 7 tested negative anti-HEV IgM and HEV-Ag and 5 of 7 (71 %) tested anti-HAV IgM positive. However, previous work has primarily focused on childhood, and differences in memory retrieval, notably in recollection, between adolescents and adults, have been hard to confirm. To address this gap in the literature and to better characterize the development of recollection and familiarity during adolescence, we applied the process dissociation procedure to a word recognition memory task, after semantic and perceptual encoding of words, in adolescents (n = 30, 13-15 years of age) and young adults (n = 30, 20-22 years). Relative to young adults, adolescents' lower recognition memory performance was restricted to context recollection of semantically encoded items. This effect was predicted by individual differences in inhibitory control abilities. A total of 218 (63.9±11.7 years, 64% men) patients with CKD were recruited. Independent clinical parameters associated with exercise capacity were age, estimated glomerular filtration rate, body mass index, and sex (P less then 0.01 for all), while independent resting echocardiographic parameters included E/e', LASr, and LA contractile strain (P less then 0.01 for all). Among resting echocardiographic parameters, LASr demonstrated the strongest positive correlation to metabolic equivalents achieved (r=0.70; P less then 0.01). Objective The histopathological characteristics of primary vs recurrent nasal polyps in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) have not been studied comprehensively. Identification of these features may be helpful for prognostication, postoperative management, and consideration of novel eosinophil-targeting biologic therapy. This study investigates the histopathological differences in primary vs recurrent CRSwNP tissue. Methods Patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery for CRSwNP were included if all 13 histopathological and mucin characteristics on a standardized report were available. Histopathology parameters were compared in surgical tissue and mucin from primary vs recurrent CRSwNP. Results Complete structured histopathology reports were available for 96 patients (39 primary polyps and 57 recurrent polyps). Compared to primary polyp tissue, recurrent CRSwNP mucin was significantly more likely to feature eosinophil aggregates (57.9% vs 35.9%; P = .047). Tissue eosinophilia (using a threshold >10 per high power field [HPF]) was not significantly different in primary and recurrent CRSwNP tissue. Other histopathologic parameters and clinical characteristics were similar. Conclusion Eosinophil aggregates on histopathology are significantly more likely to be present in recurrent CRSwNP. In the limited series, tissue eosinophilia (>10 per HPF) was not significantly different in primary and recurrent CRSwNP. Therefore, in addition to the study of tissue eosinophilia levels, Rhinologic surgeons should also direct attention to CRSwNP mucin. Mucin eosinophilic aggregates are an independent marker of severe inflammation that is associated more likely with recurrent vs primary polyposis. We introduce a generalized and versatile pulsed NMR experiment that allows populating singlet states on a broad scale of coupling patterns. This approach allowed us to filter signals from proton pairs in the Alzheimer's disease-related b-amyloid 40 peptide and in metabolites in brain matter. In particular, for glutamine/glutamate, we have discovered a long-lived state in tissue without the typically required singlet sustaining by radiofrequency irradiation. We believe that these findings will open up new opportunities to study metabolites with a view on future in vivo applications. Here, we model the diversity of "stem" (basal) and "crown" (modern) members of groups using a "birth-death model," the results of which qualitatively match many large-scale patterns seen in the fossil record. Typically, the stem group diversifies rapidly until the crown group emerges, at which point its diversity collapses, followed shortly by its extinction. Mass extinctions can disturb this pattern and create long stem groups such as the dinosaurs. Crown groups are unlikely to emerge either cryptically or just before mass extinctions, in contradiction to popular hypotheses such as the "phylogenetic fuse". The patterns revealed provide an essential context for framing ecological and evolutionary explanations for how major groups originate, and strengthen our confidence in the reliability of the fossil record. Yet, because tropical fisheries are often data-poor, mechanisms that might buffer fishers to declines are not understood. This data scarcity undermines fisheries management, making tropical fishing livelihoods particularly vulnerable to changes in marine resources. We use high-resolution fisheries data from Seychelles to understand how fishing strategy (catch diversification) influences catch rates and revenues of individual fishing vessels. We show that average catch weight decreased by 65% over 27 years, with declines in all nine species groups coinciding with increases in fishing effort. However, for individual vessels, catch diversity was associated with larger catches and higher fishing revenues and with slower catch declines from 1990 to 2016. Management strategies should maximize catch diversity in data-poor tropical fisheries to help secure nutritional security while protecting fishing livelihoods.

Here, we model the diversity of "stem" (basal) and "crown" (modern) members of groups using a "birth-death model," the results of which qualitatively match many large-scale patterns seen in the fossil record. Typically, the stem group diversifies rapidly until the crown group emerges, at which point its diversity collapses, followed shortly by its extinction. Mass extinctions can disturb this pattern and create long stem groups such as the dinosaurs. Crown groups are unlikely to emerge either cryptically or just before mass extinctions, in contradiction to popular hypotheses such as the "phylogenetic fuse". The patterns revealed provide an essential context for framing ecological and evolutionary explanations for how major groups originate, and strengthen our confidence in the reliability of the fossil record. We show that average catch weight decreased by 65% over 27 years, with declines in all nine species groups coinciding with increases in fishing effort. However, for individual vessels, catch diversity was associated with larger catches and higher fishing revenues and with slower catch declines from 1990 to 2016. These assessments were collected between 1 and 4 months postpartum. The relationship between maternal functioning and mental health was determined by conducting bivariate analysis via Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis and the general linear model (GLM) in a multivariate analysis. The mean (SD) mental health score in women was 79.1 (15.0) in the obtainable score range of 18 to 108, and the mean (SD) BIMF score in women was 97.4 (12.9) in the obtainable score range of 0 to 120. Based on Pearson or Spearman correlations, mental health and its sub-domains had positive, significant correlations with infant care, mother-child interaction, mental well-being, social support, management, adjustment, self-care, and maternal functioning (p less then 0.001). Based on the GLM, increased maternal functioning was associated with higher total mental health score, having a moderate income, and receiving support for infant care (p less then 0.05). High levels of postpartum mental health can have a positive impact on maternal functioning. The results showed that the soil water content had a significant effect on the soil shear strength, internal friction angle, and cohesion. Carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms are relatively rare, and represent 1% of all intracranial aneurysms. Generally, endovascular coiling and surgical clipping are the 2 most commonly used methods to treat ruptured carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms, it provides the most favorable outcome for a patient. This study aims to assess the efficiency and safety of endovascular coiling vs surgical clipping for patients with a ruptured carotid-ophthalmic aneurysm.
A comprehensive systematic literature review was done in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and WanFang databases. Only randomized trials that compared endovascular coiling with surgical clipping in patients with ruptured carotid-ophthalmic aneurysm was included. Data was extracted independently by 2 review authors. Moreover, the quality of study and bias risk was evaluated by utilizing an appropriate method. Triallists will be contacted to acquire missing information. The data is presented as risk ratio and mean difference, or standardized mean difference with 95% confidence intervals.
The results from the present research shall be published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Acupuncture and moxibustion has become a commonly used adjuvant treatment method to improve the success rate of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET). To investigate the effect of Stage by Stage Acupuncture and Moxibustion Therapy on endometrial receptivity and Pregnancy Outcome based on the theory of "Chong channel being sea of blood," we will conduct a multicenter randomized controlled trial. Inclusion criteria are as follows infertile women under 45 years of age who received IVF-ET or Intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles. The study will only be applied to women who have failed repeated implantation, that is, women who have failed 3 or more embryo transplants in the past (existing frozen embryos do not require the retrieval of eggs). Those who are not prepared to rlantation window period" (20-24 days after menstruation in the ovary stimulation cycle).
