This phase 2 randomized clinical trial did not demonstrate an improved OS with perioperative chemotherapy, compared with historical data from adjuvant trials in resectable pancreatic cancer. Two-year OS was 47% with mFOLFIRINOX and 48% with gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel for all eligible patients starting treatment for resectable PDA. The trial also demonstrated adequate safety and high resectability rates with perioperative chemotherapy, and challenges in quality control for resectability criteria.

During the novel coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, telehealth has become a vital component of health care delivery. For otolaryngology evaluations, examination of the ear and oropharynx is important but difficult to achieve remotely.
To assess the feasibility of patient use of low-cost digital videoscopes and smartphones for examination of the ear and oropharynx.
A prospective quality improvement study was conducted in an academic adult otolaryngology clinic including 23 patients who presented for an in-person appointment and owned a smartphone device. The study was conducted from July 1 to 15, 2020.
Participants were asked to capture pictures and videos of their ear canals and oropharynx with digital videoscopes and their smartphones under real-time guidance over a telehealth platform. They were then surveyed about their experience.
The primary outcomes were ratings by health care clinicians and a blinded otolaryngologist reviewer of image acceptability. Secondary outcomes included participant timal endoscope (difference, -27 seconds; 95% CI, -7 to -47 seconds) and smartphone photo capture (difference, -53 seconds; 95% CI, -20 to -87 seconds).
Digital otoscopes and smartphones apparently can facilitate remote head and neck physical examination in telehealth. Digital otoscopes were useful for ear examinations, and smartphone videos appeared to be the most useful for oropharyngeal examinations. Further studies are required to determine specific diagnostic capabilities in various telehealth practice settings.

CKD arises due to many pathological insults, including inflammation and oxidative stress, which affect renal function and destroy nephrons. Rice bran (RB) is rich in vitamins and minerals, and contains significant amount of antioxidants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the preventive effect of RB on renal disease risk factors.
Male Wistar rats (±325 g) were divided into two experimental groups to received a high sugar-fat diet (HSF, n = 8) or high sugar-fat diet with rice bran (HSF + RB, n = 8) for 20 weeks. At the end, renal function, body composition, metabolic parameters, renal inflammatory and oxidative stress markers were analyzed.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the intensity and the role of delayed sampling in the interpretation of ioPTH during parathyroidectomy in dialysis patients (2HPT) and successful kidney-transplanted patients (3HPT) compared to those in single parathyroid adenoma patients (1HPT).
This was a retrospective study of ioPTH profiles in patients with 1HPT, 2HPT, and 3HPT operated on in a single institution. Immunohistochemical analyses using these 50 cases indicated that only 8% (4/50) of cancerous tissues expressed PYCARD, whereas 80% (40/50) of corresponding normal prostate epithelial and/or basal cells expressed PYCARD. In addition, there was no relationship between PYCARD immunostaining and the Gleason score in cancerous tissue and surrounding normal tissue. Inducible expression of PYCARD inhibited cell proliferation by induction of apoptosis. These results suggest that aberrant methylation of PYCARD is a distinctive feature of prostate cancers with Gleason score ≥ 7 and may play an important role in escaping from apoptosis in prostatic tumorigenesis.The Kessler Foundation Neglect Assessment Process (KF-NAP) is an assessment tool for unilateral spatial neglect (USN), which is the scoring method for the Catherine Bergego Scale (CBS) based on detailed instructions. This study is aimed at determining the reliability and validity of the Japanese version of the KF-NAP (KF-NAP-J), evaluating the improvement of neglect assessment with KF-NAP-J, and comparing it with the original CBS for subacute stroke patients. We assessed subacute stroke patients admitted to our intensive rehabilitation hospital. Two KF-NAP-trained occupational therapists (OTs) assessed 22 patients. Before implementing the KF-NAP at the hospital, two other OTs assessed the other 23 patients using the CBS. We evaluated the interrater reliability of the KF-NAP and CBS using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) for the total scores, weighted kappa statistics for each subscale, and internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha. We assessed the validity of the KF-NAP against the Behavioral Inattention Test (BIT) and Functional Independence Measure (FIM) using Spearman's correlation coefficient. The reliability of both the KF-NAP and CBS was excellent. The weighted kappa results demonstrated that each subscale was in better agreement with the KF-NAP than with the CBS. In the KF-NAP, all eight subscales in which weighted kappa could be calculated were in significant agreement, and two were almost in perfect agreement. The KF-NAP moderately correlated with the subscales of BIT and FIM representing USN and activities of daily living. The USN detection rates of KF-NAP and BIT in the KF-NAP group were 63.6% and 22.7%, respectively. These results suggest that the KF-NAP, as well as the CBS, is useful to assess USN, which strongly impacts the rehabilitation outcomes in subacute stroke patients.Limited research exists about factors that influence the sustainability of preventive school mental health interventions when research support ends. This study assessed barriers and facilitators to sustaining RAP (Relax, be Aware, do a Personal rating) Club, a trauma-informed universal mental health intervention, in urban schools following efficacy trial implementation. Between 2016-2018, 13 Baltimore City schools implemented RAP Club. We evaluated RAP Club sustainability using semi-structured interviews with administrators (n=10) and school staff trained to deliver the intervention (n=11), as well as review of intervention fidelity logs (n=137) and notes from supervision calls (n=10) with school staff and research team members who implemented the program. Although most school staff described RAP Club as acceptable and beneficial, none of the 13 schools sustained the intervention. Barriers to sustainability included low self-efficacy among school staff trained to deliver the intervention, school staff turnover, logistical challenges with space and time in the regular school calendar to deliver the program, insufficient funding to sustain the program outside of the research context, and limited planning and ongoing communication between school personnel and researchers about sustainability. Recommendations for increasing post-trial program sustainability include developing sustainability plans with schools during the pre-implementation phase, enhancing ongoing support for school staff during the implementation phase, and using academic-community partnerships to facilitate sustainability and intervention scale-up during the post-implementation phase. Increasing sustainability of beneficial school-based mental health programs has the potential to reduce mental health disparities and promote health equity.
Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) and rheumatoid factor (RF) are key factors in the American College of Rheumatology/European League Against Rheumatism rheumatoid arthritis (RA) classification criteria markers. However, about 30% of patients diagnosed with RA are seronegative, rationalizing the need for new serologic markers for RA. Antibodies against carbamylated proteins (anti-CarP) and against peptidyl-arginine deiminase type 4 (anti-PAD4) have been postulated to be useful RA markers. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the value of anti-CarP and anti-PAD4 in a well-characterized population of RA patients and healthy controls (HCs).
A total of 122 RA patients and 30 HCs were enrolled in the study. Serum levels of ACPA, anti-PAD4, anti-CarP and RF were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent immunoassays (ELISAs). Synthetic carbamylated peptides were used in the ELISA assay to determine the protein targets of the anti-CarP antibodies.
Rates of ACPA, RF, anti-PAD4 and anti-CarP positivity were 85.2%, 67.2%, 55.7% and 46.7% in RA, and 0%, 0%, 6.7% and 6.7% in HC respectively. In the RA population, 25.4% of patients had all four types of antibodies positive, while 6.6% had no antibodies. There was a significant correlation between anti-PAD4 and ACPAs (
= 0.39), RF and ACPAs, (
= 0.3) and RF and anti-CarP, (

To analyze the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice about COVID-19 among Chinese residents, noninterventional and anonymous survey was carried out with an online questionnaire. Among the survey respondents (n = 619), 59.9% were female, 61.1% were from 18 to 30 years of age, and 42.3% held an undergraduate's degree. Our objective was to determine the prevalence and incidence of symptomatic site-specific fractures in patients with adrenal adenomas.
Population-based cohort study, Olmsted County, Minnesota, USA, 1995-2017.
Participants were the patients with adrenal adenoma and age/sex-matched referent subjects. Patients with overt hormone excess were excluded. Main outcomes measures were prevalence and incidence of bone fractures.
Of 1004 patients with adrenal adenomas, 582 (58%) were women, and median age at diagnosis was 63 years (20-96). At the time of diagnosis, patients had a higher prevalence of previous fractures than referent subjects (any fracture 47.9% vs 41.3%, P = 0.003, vertebral fracture 6.4% vs 3.6%, P = 0.004, combined osteoporotic sites 16.6% vs 13.3%, P = 0.04). Median duration of follow-up was 6.8 years (range 0-21.9 years). After adjusting for age, sex, BMI, tobacco use, prior history of fracture, and common causes of secondary osteoporosis, patients with adenoma had hazard ratio of 1.27 (95% CI 1.07-1.52) for developing a new fracture during follow up when compared to referent subjects.

We analyzed 18,056 CHB patients from 36 centers across the U.S. and seven countries/regions of Asia Pacific (9530 treated; 8526 untreated). We used Kaplan-Meier methods to estimate annual incidence of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Active disease was defined by meeting the APASL treatment guideline criteria.
Over a median follow-up of 8.55years, there were 1178 incidences of cirrhosis and 1212 incidences of HCC (297 without cirrhosis, 915 with cirrhosis). Among the 8526 untreated patients (7977 inactive, 549 active), the annual cirrhosis and HCC incidence ranged from 0.26% to 1.30% and 0.04% to 3.80% in inactive patients, and 0.55 to 4.05% and 0.19 to 6.03% in active patients, respectively. Of the 9530 treated patients, the annual HCC rates ranged 0.03-1.57% among noncirrhotic males and 2.57-6.93% among cirrhotic males, with lower rates for females. Generally, transition rates increased with age, male sex, the presence of fibrosis/cirrhosis, and active disease and/or antiviral treatment.

An outbreak of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, including Kawasaki disease (KD), emerged during COVID-19 pandemic. We explored whether Kawasaki-like disease (KD), when associated with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, has specific characteristics.
We included children and adolescents with KD criteria admitted in the department of general pediatrics of a university hospital in Paris, France, between January 1, 2018, and May 26, 2020. The incidence of KD was compared between the outbreak and a pre-outbreak control period (January 1, 2018, to April 25). Characteristics of patients with positive SARS-CoV-2 testing (KD-SARS-CoV-2) were compared to those of the pre-outbreak period (classic KD).
A total of 30 and 59 children with KD were admitted during the outbreak and pre-outbreak periods, respectively (incidence ratio 13.2 [8.3-21.0]). During the outbreak, 23/30 (77%) children were diagnosed as KD-SARS-CoV-2. When compared with patients with classic KD, those with KD-SARS-CoV-2 were more frequently of sub-Saharan African ancestry (OR 4.4 [1.6-12.6]) and older (median 8.2 vs. 4.0years, p < 0.001), had more often initial gastrointestinal (OR 84 [4.9-1456]) and neurological (OR 7.3 [1.9-27.7] manifestations, and shock syndrome (OR 13.7 [4.2-45.1]). They had significantly higher CRP and ferritin levels. Noticeably, they had more frequently myocarditis (OR 387 [38-3933]).

Two anchors were inserted into the glenoid of 8 shoulders. Arthroscopic videos were taken from 3 views (posterior beach chair [pBC], posterior lateral decubitus [pLD], and anterosuperolateral decubitus [asLD]). The shoulders were disarticulated to identify "true" anchor position. Seventeen shoulder surgeons reviewed the videos and indicated anchor positions using the "clock face" method. Distal tibia allograft reconstruction of the glenoid in shoulder instability has garnered significant attention over the last decade. Prior studies demonstrate significant improvement in all reported patient outcomes albeit the approach is through a subscapularis split. There have not been prior studies evaluating outcomes after lesser tuberosity osteotomy which provides excellent exposure to the anterior glenoid.We hypothesize there is significant improvement in functional outcomes and no deleterious effects after lesser tuberosity osteotomy for distal tibia allograft reconstruction of the glenoid for shoulder instability.

A questionnaire survey with 5 categories was mailed to all 1655 members of the Japan Shoulder Society (including 59 councilors) initial treatment, whether surgery was performed, indications for surgery based on severity, switching from conservative to surgical treatment, and surgical methods.
Altogether, 183 members, including 56 councilors, responded. Regarding the initial treatment, 17 respondents opted for treatment without immobilization or fixation and 166 opted for immobilization or fixation. Of the members, 11 opted for only conservative treatment whereas 172 chose surgery depending on the case; of the latter, 9 considered it for patients with a Rockwood classification of type 2 or higher; 120, for patients with type 3 or higher; and 172, for patients with types 4-6. Furthermore, 75 of 172 members had experience switching to surgical treatment during conservative treatment. For 64 of 172 members, the modified Cadenat method was the most common surgical method.

Therefore, exploring GPCR regulators has great potential in the development of targeted next-generation pesticides. Despite the great potential of such alternative pesticides, so far there has been only one approved compound, Amitraz, which conveys its anti-pest activity via the GPCR Octopamine receptor. Here, we review the current status of pesticide development, hazards associated with conventional pesticide compounds, alternative strategies that involve next-generation of pesticides, structural features of GPCRs, and opportunities and challenges of targeting the members of this superfamily in invertebrates to develop anti-pest agents. In conclusion, we emphasize that the potential of GPCRs cannot be utilized in full without more genomic and transcriptomic data to improve our understanding of the complex network of peptidergic signaling pathways. We argue how vital it is to obtain three-dimensional (3D) structural data on physiologically important target GPCRs and encourage the readers to use the state of the art in silico methods such as virtual screening for the discovery of new pesticide compounds.Self-sorting plays a crucial role in living systems such as the selective assembly of DNA and specific folding of proteins. In this work, single-handed helical poly(phenyl isocyanide)s bearing pyrene (Py) and naphthalene (Np) probes were prepared, which exhibited interesting self-sorting properties driven by both helicity and molecular weight (Mn ) in solution, solid state, gel, and on the gel surface as well. The polymers with the same helix sense and similar Mn can self-sort and assemble into well-defined two-dimensional smectic architectures and form stable gels in organic solvents. In contrast, mixed polymers with opposite handedness or different Mn were repulsive to each other and did not aggregate. Moreover, the gels of helical polymers with the same handedness and similar Mn can recognize themselves and adhere together to form a gel.
Management of the corn pest, western corn rootworm (WCR), Diabrotica virgifera virgifera (LeConte) (Coleoptera Chrysomelidae), relies heavily on the planting of transgenic corn expressing toxins produced by the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). This has resulted in the evolution of resistance to all of the four commercially available Bt toxins targeting coleopteran insects. In this study, we evaluated the susceptibility of a Cry34/35Ab1-resistant WCR colony in seedling and diet toxicity assays after removal from selection for six and nine generations. In addition, female fecundity, egg fertility, adult lifespan, larval development, and adult emergence were evaluated in two Cry34/35Ab1-resistant and two susceptible WCR colonies to assess fitness costs.

C stock estimates reveal that most of the carbon stored in these ecosystems is found in organic horizons (22.6-66.0 kg m-2), whereas tree C mass (2.8-5.7 kg m-2) decreases with thickening peat. For the first time, we compare the boreal C storage capacities of peat layers and tree biomass on the same timescale, showing that organic horizons (11.0-12.6 kg m-2) can store more carbon than tree aboveground and belowground biomass (2.8-5.7 kg m-2) even over a short time period (last 200 years). We also show that forested peatlands have similar recent rates of C accumulation to boreal non-forested peatlands but lower long-term rates, suggesting higher decay and more important peat layer combustion during fire events. A self-administered, 50-item questionnaire was used to collect data from the four most populous cities in the U.A.E., between January and March 2020. A total of 458 responses were collected and analysed using IBM-SPSS-26, R-4.0.0 and Matplotlib-v3.2.1. Females had better attitudes (P = 0.036), practices (P less then 0.0005), immunization schedule knowledge (AOR = 3.019; CI 1.482-6.678), and appreciation of the immunization schedule (AOR = 2.141; CI 1.310-3.499). A higher level of perceived knowledge was associated with an actual better knowledge (P less then 0.0005), better practices (P = 0.011), and increased willingness to get vaccinated (AOR = 1.988; CI 1.032-3.828). Respondents were more likely to vaccinate their children against HAV if the vaccine were introduced into the National Immunization Program (P less then 0.0005). Overall, disease knowledge was lacking but with positive attitudes and poor practices. For the first time, we compare the boreal C storage capacities of peat layers and tree biomass on the same timescale, showing that organic horizons (11.0-12.6 kg m-2) can store more carbon than tree aboveground and belowground biomass (2.8-5.7 kg m-2) even over a short time period (last 200 years). We also show that forested peatlands have similar recent rates of C accumulation to boreal non-forested peatlands but lower long-term rates, suggesting higher decay and more important peat layer combustion during fire events. A self-administered, 50-item questionnaire was used to collect data from the four most populous cities in the U.A.E., between January and March 2020. A total of 458 responses were collected and analysed using IBM-SPSS-26, R-4.0.0 and Matplotlib-v3.2.1. Females had better attitudes (P = 0.036), practices (P less then 0.0005), immunization schedule knowledge (AOR = 3.019; CI 1.482-6.678), and appreciation of the immunization schedule (AOR = 2.141; CI 1.310-3.499). A higher level of perceived knowledge was associated with an actual better knowledge (P less then 0.0005), better practices (P = 0.011), and increased willingness to get vaccinated (AOR = 1.988; CI 1.032-3.828). Respondents were more likely to vaccinate their children against HAV if the vaccine were introduced into the National Immunization Program (P less then 0.0005). Overall, disease knowledge was lacking but with positive attitudes and poor practices. Proteinuria increases the risk of infection-related hospitalization independent of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels in older CKD patients but this relationship is weak in their younger counterparts. This study intended to explore the effect of C-Jun N-terminal kinases 1 (JNK1) polymorphisms on the sensitivity of individual hearing loss.
A total of 1333 subjects, including 683 NIHL workers and 650 normal-hearing workers from east China, were included in this cross-sectional study. Genotyping of three JNK1 single nucleotide polymorphisms (rs9284, rs8428, and rs11598320) was performed. The relationship between different genotypes and noise-induced hearing loss was analyzed.
Results show that rs11598320 TT genotype was associated with a higher risk of NIHL (OR 1.57, 95% CI 0.91-2.70). Stratified analysis indicated that the rs11598320 AT + AA genotype was associated with a decreased risk of hearing loss in subjects exposed to noise ≤ 16years or a noise level > 92dB (OR 0.68, 95% CI 0.50-0.93 and OR 0.64, 95% CI 0.42-0.96, respectively). The rs8428 TT genotype was associated with an increased risk of noise-induced hearing loss when the noise level was > 92dB (OR 1.73, 95% CI 1.11-2.70). Haplotype TCT (rs9284-rs8424-rs11598320) was associated with an increased risk of noise-induced hearing loss (OR 1.30, 95% CI 1.00-1.68).

To identify social and health-related predictors of the number of days lost due to sickness absence (SA) and disability pension (DP) among initially 55-year-old public-sector workers.
The data from the Finnish Helsinki Health Study included participants aged 55years at the baseline (in 2000-2002, N = 1630, 81% women), and were enriched with register-based information on SA and DP. The cumulative number of calendar days lost due to SA ≥ 1day or DP between ages 55 and 65 was calculated. Negative binomial regression model was used to identify the predictors of days lost.
The average calendar days lost was 316days (about 220 working days) during a 10-year follow-up, and 44% were due to SA and 56% due to DP. Smoking [incidence rate ratio (IRR) = 1.19, 95% CI 1.01-1.40 for past and IRR = 1.30, CI 1.07-1.58 for current], binge drinking (IRR = 1.22, CI 1.02-1.46), lifting or pulling/pushing heavy loads (IRR = 1.35, CI 1.10-1.65), awkward working positions (IRR = 1.24, CI 1.01-1.53), long-standing illness limitiing working years lost and working life expectancy.In the present study, we serosurveyed the exposure of 222 draft horses to different arboviruses in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina. Plaque reduction neutralization tests confirmed exposure to Fort Sherman virus (FSV), Saint Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV), West Nile virus (WNV), and Río Negro virus (RNV). Apparently, Western and Eastern equine encephalitis viruses did not circulate in the population tested. These results highlight the importance of considering draft horses in arboviral surveillance in urban and rural areas of developing countries.Ungulate protoparvovirus 1, also known as porcine parvovirus 1 (PPV1), is considered to be one of the major causes of reproductive failure in pig breeding herds. Other parvoviruses have also been identified in pigs, including ungulate tetraparvovirus 3, or PPV2, ungulate tetraparvovirus 2, or PPV3, and ungulate copiparvovirus 2, or PPV4, but their significance for pigs is unknown. In the present study, the prevalence of PPV1-4 was investigated using a total of 231 lung and serum samples collected from slaughterhouses in 13 provinces throughout Vietnam. The overall prevalence was 54.5% (126/231) for PPV1, 28.0% (65/231) for PPV2, 17.7% (41/231) for PPV3, and 7.8% (18/231) for PPV4. While PPV1 and PPV2 were found in 11 provinces, PPV4 was detected in only three provinces. Co-circulation of PPV1, PPV2 and PPV3 was frequently observed, with PPV1/PPV2 coinfection predominating, with 20.8% (48/231). All four PPVs were detected together in only one sample from Thua Thien Hue. Three nearly complete PPV4 genome sequences of 5,453 nt were determined and deposited in the GenBank database. Alignment and comparison of the three genome sequences showed 99.5-99.6% nucleotide sequence identity, and the deduced amino acid sequences of open reading frames 1-3 were 99.6-99.9% identical to each other, 98.9-99.3% identical to those of other Vietnamese strains and 99.4-99.7% identical to those of Chinese strains). Phylogenetic analysis further confirmed a close relationship between Vietnamese and Chinese PPV4 strains. This study intended to explore the effect of C-Jun N-terminal kinases 1 (JNK1) polymorphisms on the sensitivity of individual hearing loss. A total of 1333 subjects, including 683 NIHL workers and 650 normal-hearing workers from east China, were included in this cross-sectional study. Genotyping of three JNK1 single nucleotide polymorphisms (rs9284, rs8428, and rs11598320) was performed. The relationship between different genotypes and noise-induced hearing loss was analyzed. Results show that rs11598320 TT genotype was associated with a higher risk of NIHL (OR 1.57, 95% CI 0.91-2.70). Stratified analysis indicated that the rs11598320 AT + AA genotype was associated with a decreased risk of hearing loss in subjects exposed to noise ≤ 16years or a noise level > 92dB (OR 0.68, 95% CI 0.50-0.93 and OR 0.64, 95% CI 0.42-0.96, respectively). The rs8428 TT genotype was associated with an increased risk of noise-induced hearing loss when the noise level was > 92dB (OR 1.73, 95% CI 1.11-2.70). Haplotype TCT (rs9284-rs8424-rs11598320) was associated with an increased risk of noise-induced hearing loss (OR 1.30, 95% CI 1.00-1.68). The data from the Finnish Helsinki Health Study included participants aged 55years at the baseline (in 2000-2002, N = 1630, 81% women), and were enriched with register-based information on SA and DP. The cumulative number of calendar days lost due to SA ≥ 1day or DP between ages 55 and 65 was calculated. Negative binomial regression model was used to identify the predictors of days lost. Other parvoviruses have also been identified in pigs, including ungulate tetraparvovirus 3, or PPV2, ungulate tetraparvovirus 2, or PPV3, and ungulate copiparvovirus 2, or PPV4, but their significance for pigs is unknown. In the present study, the prevalence of PPV1-4 was investigated using a total of 231 lung and serum samples collected from slaughterhouses in 13 provinces throughout Vietnam. The overall prevalence was 54.5% (126/231) for PPV1, 28.0% (65/231) for PPV2, 17.7% (41/231) for PPV3, and 7.8% (18/231) for PPV4. While PPV1 and PPV2 were found in 11 provinces, PPV4 was detected in only three provinces. Co-circulation of PPV1, PPV2 and PPV3 was frequently observed, with PPV1/PPV2 coinfection predominating, with 20.8% (48/231). All four PPVs were detected together in only one sample from Thua Thien Hue. Three nearly complete PPV4 genome sequences of 5,453 nt were determined and deposited in the GenBank database. Alignment and comparison of the three genome sequences showed 99.5-99.6% nucleotide sequence identity, and the deduced amino acid sequences of open reading frames 1-3 were 99.6-99.9% identical to each other, 98.9-99.3% identical to those of other Vietnamese strains and 99.4-99.7% identical to those of Chinese strains). Phylogenetic analysis further confirmed a close relationship between Vietnamese and Chinese PPV4 strains. The patients were examined for the degree of trochlea dysplasia, height of the patella, tibial tubercle trochlear groove distance. Additional intraarticular abnormalities were noted. The patients were assessed preoperatively and at follow-up using the Tegner Activity Scale and the Kujala score. Return to spstruction with tibial tubercle transfer (medializing and/or distalization) is a reliable surgical technique, that provides long term patellar stabilty in this selected group of young patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS The prospective monocentric study included patients in whom the revision of acetabular components in total hip arthroplasty was performed, the acetabular defect was classified as Paprosky 3a and higher, a TMT implant was used for reconstruction, and the follow-up period was at least 2 years after surgery. In total, 87 patients who had met the inclusion criteria were operated on and followed-up. The patients in the study group underwent a clinical examination, an X-ray and also an assessment using the Harris hip score. Moreover, ths their further introduction into practice at our department.
