In vivo or in vitro experiments show that bone distraction can induce the expression of SDF-1 and increase its plasma concentration. Moreover, some researchers have found that an insufficient level of SDF-1 in the circulation and wounds of patients with DFU can lead to impaired neovascularization. Therefore, we believe that SDF-1 plays an important role in promoting neovascularization of DFU as a result of bone distraction. We summarize the currently relevant literature to put forward an undisclosed but meaningful mechanism of bone distraction in the treatment of DFU.Unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) are prevalent neurovascular anomalies which, in rare circumstances, rupture to cause a catastrophic subarachnoid haemorrhage. Although surgical management can reduce rupture risk, the majority of UIAs exist undiscovered until rupture. Current clinical practice in the detection of UIAs relies heavily on manual radiological review of standard imaging modalities. Recent computer-aided UIA diagnoses can sensitively detect and measure UIAs within cranial angiograms but remain limited to low specificities whose output also requires considerable radiologist interpretation not amenable to broad screening efforts. To address these limitations, we have developed a novel automatic pipeline algorithm which inputs medical images and outputs detected UIAs by characterising single-voxel morphometry of segmented neurovasculature. Once neurovascular anatomy of a specified resolution is segmented, correlations between voxel-specific morphometries are estimated and spatially-clustered outliers are identified as UIA candidates. Our automated solution detects UIAs within magnetic resonance angiograms (MRA) at unmatched 86% specificity and 81% sensitivity using 3 min on a conventional laptop.     Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune hemorrhagic disease with a low platelet count. CD44 is a pivotal component involved in phagocytosis and inflammation, and monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against CD44 have been shown to be beneficial in several autoimmune diseases. In the present study, we investigated the correlation between CD44 levels and disease severity in patients with ITP and explored the immunomodulatory mechanisms of the antihuman CD44 mAb BJ18 on platelet phagocytosis mediated by monocytes/macrophages.

    Plasma was collected from 45 participants to measure the circulating concentration of CD44 using ELISA. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients and controls were isolated and induced to differentiate into monocytes/macrophages utilizing cytokines and drugs. CD44 expression on circulating cells and the effects of BJ18 on platelet phagocytosis, Fcɣ receptor (FcɣR) expression and M1/M2 polarization of macrophages were evaluated using flow cytometry and qPCR.

    CD44 levels of both the soluble form found in plasma and the form expressed on the surface of circulating monocytes/macrophages were significantly elevated in ITP patients. Linear correlations were verified between the CD44 levels and major clinical characteristics. In an in vitro study, BJ18 successfully inhibited platelet phagocytosis by monocytes/macrophages obtained from ITP patients. Further studies indicated that BJ18 corrected abnormal FcγR expression on monocytes/macrophages. Moreover, the polarization of proinflammatory M1 macrophages could also be regulated by BJ18.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the survival predictions obtained from a web platform allowing for computation of the so-called Bone Metastases Ensemble Trees for Survival (BMETS). This prediction model is based on a machine learning approach and considers 27 prognostic covariates.

    This was a retrospective single-institution analysis of 326 patients, managed with palliative radiotherapy for bone metastases. Deviations between model-predicted survival and observed survival were assessed.

    The median actuarial survival was 7.5 months. In total, 59% of patients survived for a period shorter than predicted. Twenty percent of the predictions of the median survival deviated from the observed survival by at least 6 months. Regarding actual survival <3 months (99 of 326 patients), the BMETS-predicted median survival was <3 months, i.e. correct in 67 of 99 cases (68%), whereas the model predicted a median of 4-6 months in 16 (16%) and of >6 months in another 16 cases.

    The model predicted survival with high accuracy in a large number of patients. Nevertheless, if the model predicts a low likelihood of 3-month survival, actual survival may be very poor (often 1 month or less). Also, in patients who died within 3 months from the start of radiotherapy, the model often predicted longer survival (16% had >6 months predicted median survival). Although she did not respond to steroids, she responded to bevacizumab symptomatically and on neuroimaging.

    Chemopreventative therapeutics may be helpful in familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) management; however, prospective chemopreventative studies are complicated by potential ototoxicity and pre-existing hearing loss. The aim of this study was to establish and compare baseline hearing status of children and adolescents with FAP and their unaffected siblings.

    Twenty FAP pediatric patients with documented mutation of the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene and nine unaffected sibling controls underwent baseline hearing evaluation, including audiometry, speech perception testing, and middle and inner ear physiologic measures. Results of the FAP cohort were compared to the unaffected sibling cohort.

    Two (5%) children with FAP presented with baseline hearing loss of unknown etiology, likely unrelated to their FAP diagnosis. No significant differences were found in any of the hearing measures between groups.

  • Clozapine (CLZ) is a gold-standard antipsychotic against treatment-refractory schizophrenia, but is one of the most toxic antipsychotic agents. Pharmacological mechanisms of the double-edged sword clinical action of CLZ remain to be clarified.     Clozapine (CLZ) is a gold-standard antipsychotic against treatment-refractory schizophrenia, but is one of the most toxic antipsychotic agents. Pharmacological mechanisms of the double-edged sword clinical action of CLZ remain to be clarified. To explore the mechanisms of CLZ, the present study determined the astroglial transmission associated with connexin43 (Cx43), which is the most principal expression in astrocytes and myocardial cells, and expression of Cx43 in primary cultured astrocytes.   • Pregnancy is associated with metabolic changes to accommodate the mother and her growing fetus. The microbiome has been shown to modulate host metabolism of endogenous and exogenous substances. However, the combined effects of pregnancy and the microbiome on host metabolism have not been investigated. The objective of this study was to investigate how the microbiome affects overall hepatic metabolic processes during pregnancy. We assessed these changes within 4 groups of C57BL/6 **** conventional non-pregnant, conventional pregnant, germ-free non-pregnant, and germ-free pregnant ****. We performed RNA-seq analysis on liver tissues and LC-MS/MS analysis of the plasma to assess the effects of pregnancy and the microbiome on hepatic transcriptome and untargeted plasma metabolome to describe metabolic changes as results of both pregnancy and lack of microbiome. By integrating transcriptomics and metabolomics data, we identified eight metabolic pathways that were significantly enriched for differentially expressed genes associated with pregnancy in both conventional and germ-free ****. Notably, of the eight pathways, 4 pathways (retinol metabolism, arachidonic acid metabolism, linoleic acid metabolism, and steroid hormone biosynthesis) which are all critical for normal pregnancy and fetal development were affected by the germ-free status in pregnant ****, but not at all in non-pregnant ****, indicating that the alterations in these four pathways caused by the lack of microbiome are unique for pregnancy. These results provide novel insight into the role of the microbiome in modulating host metabolic processes critical for maternal health and fetal development during pregnancy.In recent years, high utility itemsets (HUIs) mining has been an active research topic in data mining. In this study, we propose two efficient pattern-growth based HUI mining algorithms, called High Utility Itemset based on Length and Tail-Node tree (HUIL-TN) and High Utility Itemset based on Tail-Node tree (HUI-TN). These two algorithms avoid the time-consuming candidate generation stage and the need of scanning the original dataset multiple times for exact utility values. A novel tree structure, named tail-node tree (TN-tree) is proposed as a key element of our algorithms to maintain complete utililty-information of existing itemsets of a dataset. The performance of HUIL-TN and HUI-TN was evaluated against state-of-the-art reference methods on various datasets. Experimental results showed that our algorithms exceed or close to the best performance on all datasets in terms of running time, while other algorithms can only excel in certain types of dataset. Scalability tests were also performed and our algorithms obtained the flattest curves among all competitors.
    Systemic rheumatic disease is characterized by autoimmunity and systemic inflammation and affects multiple organs. Few studies have investigated whether autoimmune diseases increase the risk of dementia. Herein, we evaluate the relationship between systemic rheumatic disease and dementia through a population-based study using the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) claims database.

    We conducted a nationwide population-based study using the Korean NHIS database, consisting of individuals who submitted medical claims from 2002-2013. Dementia was defined as having an acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) prescription along with symptoms satisfying the Alzhemier's disease (AD) International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 codes (F00 or G30), or vascular dementia (VaD; ICD-10 or F01) criteria. Control subjects were matched to the dementia patients by age and sex. The study group was limited to those diagnosed with rheumatic disease at least 6 months prior to diagnosis of dementia. Rheumatic as independently associated with a higher risk of dementia, including AD and VaD when compared to the control group, even after adjustment. SLE patients ( less then 65 years old) are a high-risk group for early vascular dementia and require screening for early detection and active prevention.Because large numbers of artworks are preserved in museums and galleries, **** work must be done to classify these works into genres, styles and artists. Recent technological advancements have enabled an increasing number of artworks to be digitized. Thus, it is necessary to teach computers to analyze (e.g., classify and annotate) art to assist people in performing such tasks. In this study, we tested 7 different models on 3 different datasets under the same experimental setup to compare their art classification performances when either using or not using transfer learning. The models were compared based on their abilities for classifying genres, styles and artists. Comparing the result with previous work shows that the model performance can be effectively improved by optimizing the model structure, and our results achieve state-of-the-art performance in all classification tasks with three datasets. In addition, we visualized the process of style and genre classification to help us understand the difficulties that computers have when tasked with classifying art. Finally, we used the trained models described above to perform similarity searches and obtained performance improvements.

Thus, we examined the orbital magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings for DIE to assess differences in its characteristics.

    This study was a retrospective case-control study. We evaluated the efficacy of the standard coronal MRI in patients with acquired esotropia and control patients with optic neuritis.   • longum The present study provides new insight into the mechanism of gum arabic AGP degradation in B. longumIMPORTANCE Bifidobacteria harbor numerous carbohydrate-active enzymes that degrade several dietary fibers in the gastrointestinal tract. B. longum JCM7052 is known to exhibit the ability to assimilate gum arabic AGP, but the key enzyme involved in the degradation of gum arabic AGP remains unidentified. Here, we cloned and characterized a GH39 3-O-α-d-galactosyl-α-l-arabinofuranosidase (GAfase) from B. longum JCM7052. The enzyme was responsible for the release of α-d-Galp-(1→3)-l-Ara and β-l-Arap-(1→3)-l-Ara from gum arabic AGP. The presence of a gene cluster including the GAfase gene is specifically observed in gum arabic AGP assimilative strains. However, GAfase carrier strains may affect GAfase noncarrier strains that express other type II AG degradative enzymes.     To use minor salivary glands' flow rate (MSGFR) measurement in minor salivary glands (MSGs) autotransplantation for the treatment of severe dry eye disease (DED).

    MSGs autotransplantations were performed in 18 eyes (17 patients) with severe DED. MSGFR were measured before operation. The upper or lower lip with higher MSGFR was selected as the donor site. The fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) is observed between 1, 8- naphthalimide as donor and rhodamine-B as an acceptor by exciting it with a laser radiation of 405 nm. With the addition of the lead contained water in pure solution of the FRET pair the emission peak wavelength shifts from 630.27 nm of its value for pure solution. The amount of stoke shift decreases with increase in lead concentration with a gradual increase in intensity of the fluorescence spectra. Based on variation of stoke shift and peak wavelength shift of FRET spectra a novel and specific method is described for the detection of lead up to its maximum permissible limit of 0.00001 g l-1 set by the world health organization(WHO). Almost similar X-Ray patterns with the absence/presence of ions for all samples with cubic crystal structures were obtained which indicated that the introduction of ions into CdTe QDs could not alter the cubic primary structure of CdTe. Monodisperse size distributed with seemingly-spherical shapes, and also, the estimated mean diameters about 3 and less than 3 nm of QDs were obtained. The effect of X ions injection on the fluorescence and UV-Vis properties of the QDs were also investigated.     Most of the current knowledge on the clinical effects of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) on the treatment of cavernous sinus meningiomas (CSM) is based on series with limited follow-up. However, determining the role of radiation in a tumor with slow disease progression such as CSM necessitates long term follow up.

    To review and pool metadata in the literature to determine the long-term outcomes of SRS with respect to clinical and radiographic tumor control of CSM.

    A systematic search was conducted following MOOSE guidelines. Clinical response to SRS at last follow-up defined as improvement of cranial nerve deficits was found in in 36.4% (95% CI 26.3-47.1%) of patients, while worsening or onset of new cranial nerve deficits was found in 11.5% (95% CI 7.9-15.7%). Radiological regression was found in 57.8% (95% CI 43-71.8%), while tumor progression was found in 8.5% (95% CI 5.2-12.6%).

    To describe the measures of correlation and association among three functional tests for lower-limb amputees and to define the most appropriate for this assessment. To assess general satisfaction in lower-limb prostheses users and its association with the functional tests.

    We included 83 unilateral lower-limb amputees who were users of low-cost exoskeletal prostheses. The instruments employed were the Houghton scale, the Prosthesis Evaluation Questionnaire - Mobility Scale (PEQ-MS) and the 2-minute walk test (2MWT). The statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test and Spearman's correlation coefficient.

    The functional tests evaluated had an acceptable correlation and association with each other, but the Spearman correlation between the Houghton scale and the 2MWT was of greater significance (whole sample r=0.56; below-knee amputees r=0.53). The association measures did not achieve statistically significant results for above-knee amputees or for general satisfaction.

A wide literature search was carried out in Medline, Ovid, Science Direct, EMBASE, EBSCO and ISI-web of science, with prior definition of the selection criteria that included the factors associated with healthcare and adherence in patients with COPD in PRP. We used the adherence model proposed by the WHO as a conceptual framework. As a significant result, we found that factors in the dimension of illness (40%) and patient (30%) were the most frequently found dimensions in the studies, revealing that the design of pulmonary rehabilitation programs must take into account the specific needs of the patient. Further studies are needed to establish barriers and facilitators of adherence among COPD patients to PRP in the Colombian setting.

Few reports have described the use of the radial artery as an interposition graft in liver transplantation; we present a series of 6 cases and discuss the technical merits of this procedure.

    Retrospective review of consecutive patients undergoing living donor liver transplantation from December 2015 to December 2019 was performed. Demographics, operative details, and postoperative outcomes were reviewed.

    Twenty-two patients underwent living donor liver transplantation. Radial artery interposition grafting was used in 6 cases, including 1 salvage case for hepatic artery thrombosis. One patient developed hepatic artery stenosis (2 weeks postoperatively) that was conservatively managed. After radial artery grafting, all patients had normal resistive indices on duplex ultrasonography at up to 20 months postoperatively. The mean follow-up was 15.2 months.

Magnetic ytterbium ferrite nanoparticles are prepared, and the synthesized polymers are coated on them. The polymer-coated nanoparticles are intended to be employed as magnetic nanocarriers that transport the anticancer drug, camptothecin. The ferrite nanoparticles are superparamagnetic in nature. Camptothecin was loaded in the nanocarriers and the adsorption percentage was near or above 90%. Study of the in vitro release of camptothecin from the nanocarrier reveals its sustained nature, i.e. a cumulative release of about 50% at 72 h and a pH of 7.4. A pH-dependent enhanced release of 60% is observed, i.e. at a more acidic pH of 6.

There is a wide variety of functional tests and scales for the assessment of different aspects in the adaptation of amputees, but there is still no consensus on which are the most appropriate. To describe the measures of correlation and association among three functional tests for lower-limb amputees and to define the most appropriate for this assessment. To assess general satisfaction in lower-limb prostheses users and its association with the functional tests. We included 83 unilateral lower-limb amputees who were users of low-cost exoskeletal prostheses. The instruments employed were the Houghton scale, the Prosthesis Evaluation Questionnaire - Mobility Scale (PEQ-MS) and the 2-minute walk test (2MWT). The statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test and Spearman's correlation coefficient. The functional tests evaluated had an acceptable correlation and association with each other, but the Spearman correlation between the Houghton scale and the 2MWT was of greater significance (whole sample r=0.56; below-knee amputees r=0.53). The association measures did not achieve statistically significant results for above-knee amputees or for general satisfaction. The Houghton Scale and the 2MWT showed a good correlation and association with each other, becoming possible first-line instruments for the follow-up of exoskeletal lower limb prosthesis users. Patient adherence to pulmonary rehabilitation is affected by factors such as the absence of family support, and the presence of multiple comorbidities, respiratory distress, anxiety and depression. Given that there is no conclusive evidence about which of these factors are most influential in determining adherence to pulmonary rehabilitation in patients with COPD, we conducted this scoping review to analyse the available evidence on the factors influencing the adherence of patients with COPD to pulmonary rehabilitation programs (PRP). A wide literature search was carried out in Medline, Ovid, Science Direct, EMBASE, EBSCO and ISI-web of science, with prior definition of the selection criteria that included the factors associated with healthcare and adherence in patients with COPD in PRP. We used the adherence model proposed by the WHO as a conceptual framework. As a significant result, we found that factors in the dimension of illness (40%) and patient (30%) were the most frequently found dimensions in the studies, revealing that the design of pulmonary rehabilitation programs must take into account the specific needs of the patient. Further studies are needed to establish barriers and facilitators of adherence among COPD patients to PRP in the Colombian setting.   • Photoinduced electron transfer in multichromophore molecular systems is defined by a critical interplay between their core unit configuration (donor, molecular bridge, and acceptor) and their system-solvent coupling; these lead to energy and charge transport processes that are key in the design of molecular antennas for efficient light harvesting and organic photovoltaics. Here, we quantify the ultrafast non-Markovian dissipative dynamics of electron transfer in D-π-A molecular photosystems comprising 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-8-phenyl-4,4-difluoroboradiazaindacene (BODIPY), Zn-porphyrin, fulleropyrrolidine, and fulleroisoxazoline. We find that the stabilization energy of the charge transfer states exhibits a significant variation for different polar (methanol, tetrahydrofuran (THF)) and nonpolar (toluene) environments and determine such sensitivity according to the molecular structure and the electron-vibration couplings that arise at room temperature. For the considered donor-acceptor (D-A) dyads, we show that the stronger the molecule-solvent coupling, the larger the electron transfer rates, regardless of the dyads' electronic coherence properties. We find such coupling strengths to be the largest (lowest) for methanol (toluene), with an electron transfer rate difference of 2 orders of magnitude between the polar and nonpolar solvents. For the considered donor-bridge-acceptor (D-B-A) triads, the molecular bridge introduces an intermediate state that allows the realization of Λ or cascaded-type energy mechanisms. We show that the latter configuration, obtained for BDP-ZnP-[PyrC60] in methanol, exhibits the highest transfer rate of all of the computed triads. Remarkably, and in contrast with the dyads, we show that the larger charge transfer rates are obtained for triads that exhibit prolonged electron coherence and population oscillations.The phase instability in layered-structure Na0.5WO3.25 induced by the extraction of Na ions was investigated by applying transmission electron microscopy. We show that coupling, while widespread, is not universal. DNA-binding proteins that slide along DNA transition to uncoupled translation-rotation (i.e., hopping) at higher salt concentrations. Furthermore, and consistently with experimental reports, we find that the sliding mechanism is the less dominant mechanism for some DNA-binding proteins, even at low salt concentrations. With a sliding angle of less than 3°, water drops can keep rolling off without further nucleation of ice. Complementary umbrella sampling simulations where an arginine stretch or a whole protamine is transferred from the major to the minor groove also lead to the same conclusion. The benzene ring works as a "molecular wire" that transduces electron density when the two luminophores form ortho- and para-isomers, while little to no transduction can be noted for the meta-isomer, based on well-established organic chemistry. We anticipate that many more "textbook examples" of electronic directing in organic chemistry can be used for systematic modulation of molecular fluorescence and room-temperature phosphorescence.

Before the impact and benefit of strength-based technology clubs can be measured, consistency in their design and delivery must be established. This study aimed to identify the essential components of strength-based technology clubs by exploring context, mechanisms, and outcomes of existing strength-based technology clubs. Method Twenty-three adolescents with ASD (mean age 12.96 years, SD = 1.86, range = 10-18 years), 25 parents (mean age 46.08 years, SD = 8.27, range = 33-69 years), and 20 facilitators (mean age 27.93 years, SD = 6.55, range = 20-46 years) were purposively sampled from three established strength-based technology clubs. Data were obtained via ethnographic methods, including participant observations, interviews, and focus groups. Data analysis was underpinned by a realist evaluation, which provided the context-mechanism-outcome framework. Results Data analysis revealed that strength-based technology clubs had four context themes (personal factors of adolescents, personal factors of facilitators, personal factors of parents, institution), three mechanism themes (activity design, strengths and abilities, environment), and three outcome themes (skill building, connection with others, emotion). Conclusion The results highlighted the importance of understanding the personal context of adolescents, providing an individualized approach, leveraging individual interests, and modifying the environment to suit the individual. The findings contributed to defining a strength-based approach within ASD, and have demonstrated that positive outcomes can be achieved by focusing on strengths rather than deficits. Future ASD services can use the results as a framework for applying a strength-based approach. However due to the limitations of our patient population and perhaps in a lot of other sample populations in the real-world setting, it was the most feasible way to represent glucose control.The writers also suggested that the use of metformin, a potential confounder, was also not adjusted for. Method Twenty-three adolescents with ASD (mean age 12.96 years, SD = 1.86, range = 10-18 years), 25 parents (mean age 46.08 years, SD = 8.27, range = 33-69 years), and 20 facilitators (mean age 27.93 years, SD = 6.55, range = 20-46 years) were purposively sampled from three established strength-based technology clubs. Data were obtained via ethnographic methods, including participant observations, interviews, and focus groups. Data analysis was underpinned by a realist evaluation, which provided the context-mechanism-outcome framework. Results Data analysis revealed that strength-based technology clubs had four context themes (personal factors of adolescents, personal factors of facilitators, personal factors of parents, institution), three mechanism themes (activity design, strengths and abilities, environment), and three outcome themes (skill building, connection with others, emotion). Conclusion The results highlighted the importance of understanding the personal context of adolescents, providing an individualized approach, leveraging individual interests, and modifying the environment to suit the individual. The findings contributed to defining a strength-based approach within ASD, and have demonstrated that positive outcomes can be achieved by focusing on strengths rather than deficits. Future ASD services can use the results as a framework for applying a strength-based approach. The efficacy of newly designed strength-based programs can then be tested.Moxidectin (MXD), an antiparasitic drug, is effective for a variety of external and internal parasites in companion and farm animals. This study aimed to calculate the withdrawal period by investigating the residue depletion of MXD in swine edible tissues after pouring at the dosage of 2.5 mg/kg B.W. The concentrations of MXD in swine edible tissues were determined by a modified preparation procedure based on HPLC-FLD. The method was validated giving LOD and LOQ of 0.5 μg/kg and 1 μg/kg respectively with measured recoveries ranging from 62.9%-89.2% at three different concentrations and a precision (RSD) of less or equal to 15.7%. The muscle, liver, kidney and fat tissues were collected at 0.5, 5, 10, 20, 25 d after administration. The results showed that fat was the target tissue with the highest concentration for MXD. The withdrawal period was 26 days for the MRL of 500 μg/kg in fat. A response to our article, written by Dr. Chia Sing Kow and Dr. Syed Shahzad Hasan raised a few questions. They mentioned our use of hemoglobin A1c may be inaccurate as the patients in our study had high rates of CKD or ESRD which could alter the hemoglobin A1c levels. However due to the limitations of our patient population and perhaps in a lot of other sample populations in the real-world setting, it was the most feasible way to represent glucose control.The writers also suggested that the use of metformin, a potential confounder, was also not adjusted for. This should be considered in future research but addition of too many variables in a regression model may lead to less reliability of results for our study.The letter writers also suggested that the results of our paper may lead to misinterpretation by readers and may influence providers to not use insulin therapy for their patients when necessary due to fear of worse outcomes in the setting of COVID-19.

DL single-shot detector (SSD) algorithms were constructed and trained to map axial MRI slices to a set of bounding box predictions encompassing metastases and associated detection confidences. Performances of different DL SSDs were compared for per-lesion metastasis-based detection sensitivity and positive predictive value (PPV) at a 50% confidence threshold. In this work, an attempt is made to develop signal processing methods to understand the dynamics of the muscle's electrical properties. Surface electromyography signals are recorded from 50 healthy adult volunteers under dynamic curl exercise. The signals are preprocessed, and the first difference signal is computed. Furthermore, ascending and descending slopes are used to generate a binary sequence.   • The focus of present work was to prepare salt of aripiprazole (APZ) with dicarboxylic acids to improve physicochemical properties the drug. Dicarboxylic acids used in the study were malonic acid, maleic acid and succinic acid. The salts were prepared with solubilization-crystallization method. The salts were characterized for pH-solubility, dissolution, and stabilities. The Fourier infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and near infrared chemical imaging indicated formation of new solid phase. pH-solubility profiles of the salts were similar to the drug except higher solubility were observed in the salts at all tested pH. The highest solubility was observed for APZ-Malonate salt among all the prepared salts. The solubility curve was inverted 'V' shape for APZ-maleate and APZ-succinate while it was inverted 'U' shape for APZ-malonate. The water solubility of APZ, APZ-malonate, APZ-maleate and APZ-succinate were 0.07 ± 0.02, 3503.9 ± 37.4, 269.3 ± 6.9 and 729.4 ± 9.4 µg/mL, respectively. The dissolution was 2.9 ± 0.4, 18.4 ± 3.9, 19.5 ± 1.4 and 36.6 ± 4.0% in 45 min for APZ, APZ-maleate, APZ-malonate, and APZ-succinate. The stabilities of the salts were similar to the drug. Thus, salts improved the physicochemical properties of the drug, and have similar stability profiles as that of APZ.
    To investigate the feasibility and the preliminary effects of an individualized intensive goal training for adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP).

    Twelve adolescents with CP (12-17 years old, **** II-III, GMFCS I-IV) identified functional goals to be practiced three hours/day, five days/week, for two weeks. The feasibility aspects included the participant's adherence (i.e., daily logs), the adequacy of the instruments used, and the participant's satisfaction with the intervention (i.e., structured questionnaire). Outcome measures included the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) (self-care; mobility), Children Helping Out Responsibilities, Expectations and Supports (CHORES), Participation and Environment Measure-Children and Youth (PEM-CY) (home) and Box and Blocks Test (BBT). Assessments were conducted one month and two days before the intervention, immediately and three months after the intervention. Friedman tests were used to test time-related differences in the outcome measures.

    All adolescents completed and reported satisfaction with the proposed intervention. Significant improvements were observed in performance and satisfaction (COPM), in functional skills and caregiver assistance in self-care and in the performance of household tasks. There were no significant differences in mobility skills, independence in mobility or household tasks, home participation, or manual dexterity.

This strategy has not delivered the expected result. Based on John Dewey's pragmatism, we propose another vocabulary for understanding, inquiring into and learning from safety situations in healthcare. Drawing especially on Dewey's understanding of transaction as the inseparability between human and environment, we develop an analytical approach to patient safety understood as a transactional accomplishment thoroughly dependent on the quality of situated and shared habits and collaborative practices in healthcare. We further illustrate methodologically how a transactional attitude can be situationally practised through video-reflexive ethnography, a method that allows for inquiry into mundane safety practices by letting interprofessional teams see, reflect upon and possibly modify their shared practices and safety habits.Our aim in this article was to combine the theories of reflexivity and expansive learning theory to elucidate how they may interact in interprofessional health student teams' learning activities in the workplace. According to Margaret Archer reflexivity is "the regular exercise of the mental ability, shared by all normal people, to consider themselves in relation to their (social) context and vice versa." It stems from the individual's inner dialogue. In interprofessional student teams, the participants' inner dialogs may interplay, forming team reflexivity. We have elucidated how individual reflexivity and team reflexivity are related in the workplace. Expansive learning theory focuses on the learning possibilities in the zone of proximal development. Working through contradictions, the team may develop the object, which may be something drastically new. However, despite the great results and promising perspectives, there are currently no diagnostic tests based on metabolomics that have been approved and introduced into clinics.Areas covered In this report, the advantages and challenges of MS-based metabolomics are discussed with a focus on its developing role in diagnostics, and the current trends in implementing metabolomics diagnostics in the clinic.Expert opinion In the development of new clinical diagnostics tests, MS-based metabolomics has potential as both a preliminary discovery base for routine testing and a multi-test prototype, which is hoped to be introduced into clinical practice in the near future.

However, despite the great results and promising perspectives, there are currently no diagnostic tests based on metabolomics that have been approved and introduced into clinics.Areas covered In this report, the advantages and challenges of MS-based metabolomics are discussed with a focus on its developing role in diagnostics, and the current trends in implementing metabolomics diagnostics in the clinic.Expert opinion In the development of new clinical diagnostics tests, MS-based metabolomics has potential as both a preliminary discovery base for routine testing and a multi-test prototype, which is hoped to be introduced into clinical practice in the near future.
