A significant aggregation tendency of the MNPs is noticed in cryo-TEM measurements after the electrostatic complexation of DNA, implying an accumulation of the DNA macromolecules on the surface of the hybrid tricomponent complexes. YSSB is highly polyphagous and in China it feeds on over 57 host plants in 29 families, including some economically important fruit crops such as kiwifruit, pear, peach, apple, and pomegranate. With a primarily r-selected life history strategy, reproductive diapause, aggregation behavior, wide host range, high dispersal capacity, and close association with human-modified ecosystems, YSSB is a potentially invasive species that poses significant biosecurity threats to other countries outside its native range. This review summarizes basic and applied knowledge on the biology, ecology, and management of YSSB in China, with specific emphasis on its life history, host range, damage and impacts on economically important horticulture crops, and integrated pest management (IPM) approaches. We compared pancreatic TICs isolated from three-dimensional tumor spheroid cultures with nontumor-initiating cells (non-TICs) enriched in planar cultures. Employing differential proteomics (PTX), we identified more than 400 proteins with significantly different expression in pancreatic TICs and the non-TIC population. By combining the unbiased PTX with mRNA expression analysis and literature-based predictions of pro-malignant functions, we nominated the two calcium-binding proteins S100A8 (MRP8) and S100A9 (MRP14) as well as galactin-3-binding protein LGALS3BP (****2-BP) as putative determinants of pancreatic TICs. In silico pathway analysis followed by candidate-based RNA interference mediated loss-of-function analysis revealed a critical role of S100A8, S100A9, and LGALS3BP as molecular determinants of TIC proliferation, migration, and in vivo tumor growth. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the morphological and morphometric characteristics of Iberian wolf dentition. This data collection would serve as a base-point for a more accurate identification of the wolves thorough their bite marks. For the first time, 36 dental variables have been studied in wolves' skulls, employing univariate and multivariate analyses. The general morphological dental characteristics of wolves are very similar in terms of their dental formula and tooth structure to other canids, like domestic dogs. Sex differentiation was evident, principally in terms of the maxillary distance between the palatal surfaces of the canine teeth (UbC) and the width of the left mandibular canine teeth (LlCWd).

  • Background Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is an effective oral immunosuppressive drug used to treat lupus nephritis (LN), which exhibits large pharmacokinetic variability. This study aimed to characterize MPA pharmacokinetic behaviour in Mexican LN patients and to develop a population pharmacokinetic model which identified factors that influence MPA pharmacokinetic variability. Methods Blood samples from LN patients treated with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) were collected pre dose and up to six hours post dose. MPA concentrations were determined by a validated ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry technique. Patients were genotyped for polymorphisms in enzymes (UGT1A8, 1A9 and 2B7) and transporters (ABCC2 and SLCO1B3). The anthropometric, clinical, genetic and co-medication characteristics of each patient were considered as potential covariates to explain the variability. Results A total of 294 MPA concentrations from 40 LN patients were included in the development of the model. The data were analysed using NONMEM software and were best described by a two-compartment linear model. MPA CL, Vc, Vp, Ka and Q were 15.4 L/h, 22.86 L, 768 L, 1.28 h-1 and 20.3 L/h, respectively. Creatinine clearance and prednisone co-administration proved to have influence on clearance, while body weight influenced Vc. The model was internally validated, proving to be stable. MMF dosing guidelines were obtained through stochastic simulations performed with the final model. Conclusions This is the first MPA population pharmacokinetic model to have found that co-administration of prednisone results in a considerable increase on clearance. This condition does not fully respond to anticonvulsant therapy if glycaemic levels are not normalised. Of interest, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of NKH could be different from those observed during other kinds of seizures. Indeed, seizure-related MRI abnormalities mainly involve the cortical grey matter, while NKH-related seizures usually appear as reversible subcortical T2/fluid attenuation inversion recovery (FLAIR) hypointensity. This latter abnormality shows a good spatial correlation with the area of the ictal focus on electroencephalogram and could be associated with other more common post-ictal MRI changes (cortical grey matter T2/FLAIR hyperintensity, cortical or leptomeningeal enhancement). Although these abnormalities tend to be transient, a focal volume loss or gliosis can result on follow-up imaging. Our cases confirm T2/FLAIR subcortical hypointensity as a main neuroradiological hallmark of NKH-induced seizures.Aim To compare the efficacy of a high-intensity psychosocial intervention with standardized usual care in countering psychosocial complexity among child-parent units in a pediatric oncology setting.   • The main cognitive processing factors associated with sexual functioning include cognitive distraction and attentional focus, automatic thoughts and sexual cognitions, causal attributions to negative sexual events, efficacy expectations, and perceived performance demands. Specific associations between cognitive processing factors and particular male and female sexual dysfunctions were identified and discussed. Conclusion Overall, research supports the critical role of cognitive processing factors in predicting women's and men's sexual (dys)function.   • Background The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has posed stress on the health and well-being of both Chinese people and the public worldwide. Global public interest in this new issue largely reflects people's attention to COVID-19 and their willingness to take precautionary actions. This study aimed to examine global public awareness of COVID-19 using Google Trends. Methods The data of this study was obtained from a cross-sectional study in 8 counties of central and western rural China. Development status of 1880 children aged less then 60 months were assessed by Ages & Stages Questionnaire-Chinese Edition (ASQ) and the Ages and Stages Questionnaire Social Emotional-Chinese Edition (ASQ SE). Multivariate logistic regressions were used to analyze the association between being left behand by migrant mothers and developmental problems in various domains, while adjusting socio-demographic, socio-economic and perinatal co-variates, and effect modification analysis were conducted to explore the effect of age, gender and birth order. Results Children left behind by migrant mothers were more likely to have overall suspected developmental delay (odds ratio (OR) = 1.24, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.13-1.35), developmental delay in personal social domain (OR = 1.55, 95% CI = 1.17-2.04) and socio-emotional delay compared with those living with their own mothers (OR = 1.49, 95% CI = 1.11-2.00) after adjusting for potential confounders. Additionally, girls increased the odds of social-emotional problems among children being left behind by migrating mother (P for interaction = 0.037). Conclusions The study concluded that children left behind by migrant mothers were more likely to have suspected developmental delay compared with their peers living with mothers, especially on social emotional development. Future intervention is needed for this special population and should pay more attention to girls. Background In the past two decades, chronic non-communicable diseases have become the leading disease burden, and cardio-cerebrovascular diseases (CCVD) are the main causes of death in chronic diseases. It has become the focus of global public health attention, in this study, System of Health Accounts 2011 (SHA 2011) is used to calculate health expenditure, discuss its economic burden, and put forward countermeasures. Methods Data were collected by multi-stage stratified random sampling and the medical expenses of patients with CCVD were calculated based on SHA 2011, from the dimensions of the financing plan, institutional flow, and service function. Correlation and regression analysis were conducted by controlling factors influencing hospitalization expenses. All analysis were conducted by software SPSS. Results The current health expenditure (CHE) of CCVD in Dalian was 3.986 billion Yuan, accounting for 12.88% of the CHE (30.947 billion Yuan). The current curative expenditure (CCE) of CCVD was 2.947 billion Yuan. 40.39% of CCVD financing came from social medical insurance, and the proportion of family health financing was higher (39.06%). The expenditures were consumed by general hospitals and elderly patients. Conclusions The expenditure burden of CCVD in Dalian was massive, and wasted the health resource severely. It is necessary for the government to adjust the financing structure, reallocate the expenses of CCVD, and make institutional flow and functional distribution more reasonable. While gendered beliefs promoting motherhood are a known risk factor, their association with adolescent childbirth within the social networks of Central American communities is unknown. Methods This was a cross-sectional study looking at adolescent childbirth amongst women ages 15-20 years (N = 2990) in rural Honduras, using reproductive health data on all individuals ≥15 years of age (N = 24 937 of 31 300 population) including social network contacts, all of whom were interviewed as part of the study. The outcome, adolescent childbirth, was defined as having had a child  less then  age 20 years. Predictors included whether a woman's social contact had an adolescent childbirth and the social contact's reported perception of community support for adolescent childbirth. Results While girls who identified a father in the village as a social contact had a lower likelihood of adolescent childbirth regardless of whether or not theyto encourage norms that prevent adolescent childbirth without stigmatising those who have had an adolescent childbirth. Programmatic efforts to counter prevailing norms that limit a woman's role to motherhood, and that support and encourage strong norms for girls' education may play an important role in addressing this situation.   • Juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) is a pediatric myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm overlap syndrome with sustained peripheral blood monocytosis, aggressive features, and poor outcomes. In >90% of cases JMML is driven by germline or somatic mutations involving the canonical RAS pathway (PTPN11, NRAS, CBL, KRAS and NF1), with somatic mutations/alterations in RAS pathway genes (second hit), SETBP1, ASXL1 and JAK3 resulting in disease progression. While spontaneous regression has been seen in germline PTPN11 and CBL mutant JMML, in most patients, allogeneic stem cell transplant is the only curative modality. JMML shares several phenotypic features with its adult counterpart proliferative, chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (pCMML). pCMML largely occurs due to RAS pathway mutations that occur in the context of age related clonal hematopoiesis (TET2, SRSF2, ASXL1), while JMML is a bona fide RASopathy, with additional somatic mutations, including in epigenetic regulators genes resulting in disease progression.Many prognostic scoring systems have been developed for chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). Although these efforts have been informative, no single model has been considered the consensus for CMML prognostication and all models are only moderately prognostic. CMML clinical models utilize mainly hematology and morphology parameters to estimate risk. A better understanding of cytogenetics and the genomic landscape of CMML have resulted in integrated risk models such as CMML Prognostic Scoring System (CPSS)-Mol and Mayo Molecular that may provide better prognostic accuracy for an individual patient. For example, frameshift/nonsense ASXL1 mutations have been consistently shown to confer inferior outcomes leading to its incorporation into some of the major risk classification systems. Prognostication in the setting of therapeutic interventions such as hypomethylating agents and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation have also garnered considerable interest. Despite having many validated risk models available, not a single system is universally adopted. Herein, we will provide an overview of how these systems evolved and progress toward a uniform system.Atypical chronic myeloid leukemia is an esoteric myeloid malignancy with features of both myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes. This disease is characterized primarily by morphologic-based criteria, and has clinical and molecular features overlapping with other myeloid malignancies. No one molecular abnormality is specific, and multiple mutations are often present in various combinations, due to the malignant multi-step clonal evolution of myeloid malignancies. In this review, we will address what we know about atypical chronic myeloid leukemia; evaluate how the molecular landscape in myeloid malignancies overlaps, and discuss what we can learn by incorporating individualized precision genomic strategies.Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemias are frequently diagnosed in older adults. Their prognosis is heterogeneous, but several prognostic factors can identify patients with an expected survival of a few years only, including among younger patients eligible for allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Based on the retrospective data available, we discuss how to identify CMML patients for whom curative therapy must be envisaged. We emphasize that, although transplantation remains the only path to cure in CMML, it can be envisaged in only a minority of patients. Despite increased donor availability, its potential remains limited by significant rates of mortality caused both by the procedure and by post-transplantation relapses. We review the options available to bridge patients to transplant, the management of transplantation itself (choice of donor, graft source and condition regimen), and finally the potential for post-transplantation interventions.     Juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) is a pediatric myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm overlap syndrome with sustained peripheral blood monocytosis, aggressive features, and poor outcomes. In >90% of cases JMML is driven by germline or somatic mutations involving the canonical RAS pathway (PTPN11, NRAS, CBL, KRAS and NF1), with somatic mutations/alterations in RAS pathway genes (second hit), SETBP1, ASXL1 and JAK3 resulting in disease progression. While spontaneous regression has been seen in germline PTPN11 and CBL mutant JMML, in most patients, allogeneic stem cell transplant is the only curative modality. JMML shares several phenotypic features with its adult counterpart proliferative, chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (pCMML). pCMML largely occurs due to RAS pathway mutations that occur in the context of age related clonal hematopoiesis (TET2, SRSF2, ASXL1), while JMML is a bona fide RASopathy, with additional somatic mutations, including in epigenetic regulators genes resulting in disease progression.Many prognostic scoring systems have been developed for chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). A better understanding of cytogenetics and the genomic landscape of CMML have resulted in integrated risk models such as CMML Prognostic Scoring System (CPSS)-Mol and Mayo Molecular that may provide better prognostic accuracy for an individual patient. For example, frameshift/nonsense ASXL1 mutations have been consistently shown to confer inferior outcomes leading to its incorporation into some of the major risk classification systems. Prognostication in the setting of therapeutic interventions such as hypomethylating agents and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation have also garnered considerable interest. Despite having many validated risk models available, not a single system is universally adopted. Herein, we will provide an overview of how these systems evolved and progress toward a uniform system.Atypical chronic myeloid leukemia is an esoteric myeloid malignancy with features of both myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes. This disease is characterized primarily by morphologic-based criteria, and has clinical and molecular features overlapping with other myeloid malignancies. No one molecular abnormality is specific, and multiple mutations are often present in various combinations, due to the malignant multi-step clonal evolution of myeloid malignancies. In this review, we will address what we know about atypical chronic myeloid leukemia; evaluate how the molecular landscape in myeloid malignancies overlaps, and discuss what we can learn by incorporating individualized precision genomic strategies.Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemias are frequently diagnosed in older adults. Their prognosis is heterogeneous, but several prognostic factors can identify patients with an expected survival of a few years only, including among younger patients eligible for allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Based on the retrospective data available, we discuss how to identify CMML patients for whom curative therapy must be envisaged. We emphasize that, although transplantation remains the only path to cure in CMML, it can be envisaged in only a minority of patients. Despite increased donor availability, its potential remains limited by significant rates of mortality caused both by the procedure and by post-transplantation relapses. We review the options available to bridge patients to transplant, the management of transplantation itself (choice of donor, graft source and condition regimen), and finally the potential for post-transplantation interventions. Overall, a total of 47/1051 (4,5%) cases were tested for COVID-19 by PCR in the same period, and 15 of them due to symptoms compatible with COVID-19. By the balanced twin-detector measurement method, the saturable absorption property of few-layer bismuthene with a modulation depth of 2.5% and saturable intensity of 110 MW/cm2 at the optical communication band (C-band) is illustrated. Dependent on a few-layer bismuthene saturable absorber, an all-fiber ultrashort pulse laser is fabricated and the proposed fiber laser can operate with coexistence of harmonic mode-locking and dual-wavelength mode-locking. The different laser generations of harmonic and dual wavelength depend on the saturable absorption of few-layer bismuthene, the suitable birefringence and nonlinearity strength in the laser cavity. Herein, we constructed pure spinel Co3O4 and VO-rich Co3O4 as catalyst models to study the defect mechanism and investigate the dynamic behavior of defect sites during the electrocatalytic OER process by various operando characterizations. Operando electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) implied that the VO could facilitate the pre-oxidation of the low-valence Co (Co2+, part of which was induced by the VO to balance the charge) at a relatively lower applied potential. Benefited from the rigid and large planar conjugated structure of TAT and DBPZ, TAT-DBPZ and TAT-FDBPZ realized high photoluminescence quantum yields in solid states. Meanwhile, the large steric hindrance between TAT and DBPZ segments produced small singlet-triplet energy splitting (ΔEST), leading to short delayed fluorescence lifetimes and high reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) rate (>106 s-1) for both compounds. The solution-processable doped organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on TAT-DBPZ achieved a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 15.4% with a red emission peak at 604 nm, which was one of the highly efficient solution-processable red TADF OLEDs. TAT-FDBPZ-based doped devices also showed a red emission peak at 611 nm with a maximum EQE of 9.2% and low-efficiency roll-off ratios of 1.0% at 100 cd m-2 and 19% at 1000 cd m-2. Furthermore, their solution-processable nondoped devices displayed EQEs of 5.6 and 2.9% with the red-shifted emission peaks at 626 and 641 nm, respectively. These results indicate the huge potential of utilization of TAT as the donor unit to achieve highly efficient and low-efficiency roll-off solution-processable red TADF OLEDs.Exfoliation of graphene oxide (GO) via thermal expansion is regarded as the most promising approach to obtain few-layer graphene (FLG) in bulk. Herein, we introduce an efficient strategy for improving the exfoliation process by adding a tiny amount of lithium nitrate in the precursors, which significantly enhances the removal of oxygen-containing functional groups and produces 1-2 layer graphene. FLG-supported highly dispersed Cu nanoparticles (NPs, ≈4.2 nm) can be further synthesized through exfoliating the mixture of GO, lithium nitrate, and copper(II) nitrate, which displayed superior catalytic activity and stability in the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) using liquid methanol oxidative carbonylation. The characterization results demonstrate that during the thermal expansion process, lithium nitrate was decomposed to Li2O and immediately reacted with CO2 released by the decomposition of GO to form stable Li2CO3, which promotes efficient charge transfer and produces Cuδ+ (0 less then δ less then 1) species in the Cu/Li-PGO catalyst. Density functional theory calculations prove that the presence of Cuδ+ markedly facilitates CO adsorption over the resulting catalyst and causes a decrease of the energy barrier of the rate-limiting step for DMC formation (CO insertion). These findings give a theoretical explanation of the enhanced catalytic performance of the Cu/Li-PGO catalyst. In this paper, the physical characteristic, nonlinear optical response, and ultrafast photonics application of few-layer bismuthene are studied experimentally. By the balanced twin-detector measurement method, the saturable absorption property of few-layer bismuthene with a modulation depth of 2.5% and saturable intensity of 110 MW/cm2 at the optical communication band (C-band) is illustrated. Dependent on a few-layer bismuthene saturable absorber, an all-fiber ultrashort pulse laser is fabricated and the proposed fiber laser can operate with coexistence of harmonic mode-locking and dual-wavelength mode-locking. The different laser generations of harmonic and dual wavelength depend on the saturable absorption of few-layer bismuthene, the suitable birefringence and nonlinearity strength in the laser cavity. The results suggest that the ultrashort pulse laser obtained based on few-layer bismuthene could be applied to the field of pump-probe experiments and tunable terahertz radiation generation potentially.The exact role of a defect structure on transition metal compounds for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER), which is a very dynamic process, remains unclear. Studying the structure-activity relationship of defective electrocatalysts under operando conditions is crucial for understanding their intrinsic reaction mechanism and dynamic behavior of defect sites. Co3O4 with rich oxygen vacancy (VO) has been reported to efficiently catalyze OER. Herein, we constructed pure spinel Co3O4 and VO-rich Co3O4 as catalyst models to study the defect mechanism and investigate the dynamic behavior of defect sites during the electrocatalytic OER process by various operando characterizations. Operando electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) implied that the VO could facilitate the pre-oxidation of the low-valence Co (Co2+, part of which was induced by the VO to balance the charge) at a relatively lower applied potential. This observation confirmed that the VO could initialize the surface reconstruction of VO-Co3O4 prior to the occurrence of the OER process.

RESULTS Pb tolerance, which was assessed by quantifying radicle length (RL) under 0 or 100 mg/L Pb stress condition, shown an extensive variation in 472 worldwide-collected rapeseed accessions. Based on the criterion of relative RL > 80%, six Pb-tolerant genotypes were selected. Four quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with Pb tolerance were identified by Genome-wide association study. The expression level of nine promising candidate genes, including GSTUs, BCATs, UBP13, TBR and HIPP01, located in these four QTL regions, were significantly higher or induced by Pb in Pb-tolerant accessions in comparison to Pb-sensitive accessions. In this paper, drawing upon our own experience of conducting a meta-ethnography, we focus on what it means in practice to 'express a synthesis' (stage 7). We suggest the methodological importance of 'expression' in Noblit and Hare's seven stage process (Noblit, GW and Hare, RD. Meta-ethnography synthesizing qualitative studies, 1988) has been overlooked, and in particular, opportunities for PPI user participation within it. METHODS Meta-ethnography comprises a seven-stage process of evidence syntrd order 2nd level constructs of the QES team; (2) we discuss the link between PPI user participation and what Noblit and Hare may have meant by ideas of 'expression' and 'audience' as integral to stage 7; and (3) we link PPI user participation to Noblit and Hare's underlying theory of social explanation, i.e. how expression of the synthesis is underpinned by ideas of translation and that the synthesis must be 'translated in the audience's (user participants) particular language'. CONCLUSIONS The paper aims to complement recent attempts in the literature to refine and improve guidance on conducting a meta-ethnography, highlighting opportunities for PPI user participation in the processes of interpretation, translation and expression. Clinical data of patients consisting of binary/dichotomous representation of symptoms and their calculated severity scores were also available from this study. To verify the suitability of the methods used, the genetic differences between the genera Shigella and Escherichia were used as control. RESULTS The isolates obtained were representative of the population structure encountered in other Western European countries.

Many of these compounds are undergoing clinical trials as potential antifungal agents, and future research should focus on attempts at determination of the applicability of tested substances. The configuration of protected areas can significantly impact the richness and identity of the species found there; one large patch supports larger populations but can facilitate competitive exclusion. Conversely, many small habitats spreads risk but may exclude predators that typically require large home ranges. Identifying how best to design protected areas is further complicated by monitoring programs failing to detect species. Here we test the consequences of different protected area configurations using multi-trophic level experimental microcosms. We demonstrate that for a given total size, many small patches generate higher species richness, are more likely to contain predators, and have fewer extinctions compared to single large patches. However, the relationship between the size, number of patches, and species richness was greatly affected by insufficient monitoring, and could lead to incorrect conservation decisions, especially for higher trophic levels. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd/CNRS.AIMS This study aims to explore nurses' demographic data, assertiveness, psychosocial work condition, and workplace bullying, and find the predictors of workplace bullying. METHODS This study adopted a cross-sectional design. A stratified sample comprising 241 nurses from a regi onal teaching hospitals in Taiwan was selected from the 10th to the 23rd September, 2018. Data were analysed by using the SPSS Statistics 17.0. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation), one-way Anova, t test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple linear regressions were used. RESULTS The results showed that the participants with "past bullying experience," "lower self-assertiveness," "higher work psychological demands," "lower workplace justice," "lower labour participation," and "lower overall social support" are more likely to experience workplace bullying. CONCLUSIONS Hospital managers should pay attention to the problem of nursing workplace bullying. First of all, hospital managers should encourage curriculum on nursing workplace bullying and incorporate nursing workplace bullying prevention training courses in curriculum planning. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.PURPOSE Published epidemiological studies on the association between finasteride use and the risk of male breast cancer have been inconclusive due to methodological limitations including a few male breast cancer cases included. Determinants of male breast cancer have been studied, but it remains unexplored whether these are also related to finasteride use and thereby constitute potential confounders. This study aimed to assess whether there are differences between finasteride users and nonusers with regard to numerous potential confounders. METHODS In total, 246 508 finasteride users (≥35 years) were identified in the prescription registries of Denmark (1995-2014), Finland (1997-2013), and Sweden (2005-2014). An equal number of nonusers were sampled. The directed acyclic graph (DAG) methodology was used to identify potential confounders for the association between finasteride and male breast cancer. A logistic regression model compared finasteride users and nonusers with regard to potential confounders that were measurable in registries and population surveys. RESULTS Finasteride users had higher odds of testicular abnormalities (odds ratio [OR] 1.40; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.36-1.44), obesity (1.31; 1.23-1.39), exogenous testosterone (1.61; 1.48-1.74), radiation exposure (1.22; 1.18-1.27), and diabetes (1.07; 1.04-1.10) and lower odds of occupational exposure in perfume industry or in high temperature environments (0.93; 0.87-0.99), living alone (0.89; 0.88-0.91), living in urban/suburban areas (0.97; 0.95-0.99), and physical inactivity (0.70; 0.50-0.99) compared to nonusers. CONCLUSIONS Systematic differences between finasteride users and nonusers were found emphasizing the importance of confounder adjustment of associations between finasteride and male breast cancer. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.Treatment with Lipitor is associated with several adverse impacts. Here we investigated the effects of low Lipitor nanoparticles (atorvastatin calcium nanopartilcle [AC-NP]), with size less than 100 , on enzymes of lipid metabolism and inflammation in cardiac, hepatic, and brain tissues of hypercholestremic adult male rats. Adult male rats were divided into five experimental groups. In group 1, the intact control (normal pellet diet), animals were fed a normal control diet; the other four groups were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, groups from 2 to 5 were assigned as a positive control (HFD), HFD + Lipitor, HFD + AC-NP-R1, or HFD + AC-NP-R2. Different treatments were administrated orally for two regimen periods (R1 daily and R2 once every 3 days). The treatment was conducted for two consecutive weeks. The HFD group faced a significant elevation in 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA), associated with a significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) along with cholesterol 7 α-hydroxylase enzyme in hepatic tissues, compared with the control group. Also, the HFD group induced hepatic, cardiac, and brain inflammation, evidenced by increased hepatic oxidative stress markers and cardiac homocysteine, together with elevated proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and IL-6 levels in brain tissue, compared with the control group. Different AC-NP treatments significantly augmented both mRNA LDL-R and mRNA 7α-hydroxylase expression in hepatic tissues, associated with significant depletion in mRNA HMG-CoA expression, compared with HFD + Lipitor. The inflammation symptoms were ameliorated by the AC-NP treatments, compared to HFD + Lipitor. RESULTS Finasteride users had higher odds of testicular abnormalities (odds ratio [OR] 1.40; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.36-1.44), obesity (1.31; 1.23-1.39), exogenous testosterone (1.61; 1.48-1.74), radiation exposure (1.22; 1.18-1.27), and diabetes (1.07; 1.04-1.10) and lower odds of occupational exposure in perfume industry or in high temperature environments (0.93; 0.87-0.99), living alone (0.89; 0.88-0.91), living in urban/suburban areas (0.97; 0.95-0.99), and physical inactivity (0.70; 0.50-0.99) compared to nonusers. CONCLUSIONS Systematic differences between finasteride users and nonusers were found emphasizing the importance of confounder adjustment of associations between finasteride and male breast cancer. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.Treatment with Lipitor is associated with several adverse impacts. Here we investigated the effects of low Lipitor nanoparticles (atorvastatin calcium nanopartilcle [AC-NP]), with size less than 100 , on enzymes of lipid metabolism and inflammation in cardiac, hepatic, and brain tissues of hypercholestremic adult male rats. Adult male rats were divided into five experimental groups. In group 1, the intact control (normal pellet diet), animals were fed a normal control diet; the other four groups were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, groups from 2 to 5 were assigned as a positive control (HFD), HFD + Lipitor, HFD + AC-NP-R1, or HFD + AC-NP-R2. Different treatments were administrated orally for two regimen periods (R1 daily and R2 once every 3 days). The treatment was conducted for two consecutive weeks. The HFD group faced a significant elevation in 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA), associated with a significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) along with cholesterol 7 α-hydroxylase enzyme in hepatic tissues, compared with the control group. Also, the HFD group induced hepatic, cardiac, and brain inflammation, evidenced by increased hepatic oxidative stress markers and cardiac homocysteine, together with elevated proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and IL-6 levels in brain tissue, compared with the control group. Different AC-NP treatments significantly augmented both mRNA LDL-R and mRNA 7α-hydroxylase expression in hepatic tissues, associated with significant depletion in mRNA HMG-CoA expression, compared with HFD + Lipitor. The inflammation symptoms were ameliorated by the AC-NP treatments, compared to HFD + Lipitor.
